Hello everyone! Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday.
Coming to you with another patch today, and this time it's a big list of changes to the Magic Rules. The following patch notes will detail what changes have been made exactly and what that means:- The benefits of Caster and Ancient Magic have been reworked. Caster Magic is now the only possible way to obtain Cost Reduction buffs, while Ancient Magic is the only way to obtain buffs to Damage Resistance. Melee Damage Resistance and Magic Damage Resistance have been removed and combined into the aforementioned new stat simply called Damage Resistance.
- The benefits for Lost Magic were buffed by removing the extra MP cost.
- Faith Magic has been added as a new magic type.
- Blood Magic has been added as a new magic type.
- Curse Magic has been added as a new magic type.
- Mystic Eyes Magic has been added as a new magic type.
- Combat Arts have been added. Combat Arts utilize a new type of spell called "Technique", which use different base values when compared to regular spells. See the Tables and FAQ for details. Techniques allow users to deal Melee Damage via their spell slots, meaning that the use of Melee Damage in Spells has been removed from the Magic Rules, making Combat Arts and Techniques the only way to utilize Melee Damage in Spell Slots.
- Wording of the Magic Rules has been updated to reflect the addition of the new magic types. Fusion Spells and Unison Raids were adjusted to take the addition of new kinds of spells into account. Some effects were adjusted to take the addition of new kinds of spells into account.
- The buff rules were updated to account for the aforementioned changes. Stamina Points, Technique Durability, Technique Healing, Technique Range, and Technique Speed were added as new stats. Use of Cost Reduction and Damage Resistance buffs / debuffs is now restricted.
- The Tables were updated with new information in regards to newly added kinds of Spells, namely Blood Spells and Techniques.
- The Magic and Spell Templates have been updated accordingly. Blood Spells, Techniques, and Unbound Eye Spells were added to the templates.
- Statless templates were added for all old and new spells.
- Burst type Speeds have been increased to facilitate the difference between AoEs and Bursts, with the former being geared towards wider ranges while the latter is specialized in speed.
- The New User Guide has been reworked completely. This doesn't have much of an effect on most people on the site, but it's worth mentioning regardless.
More changes based on your suggestions and feedback are coming soon so keep an eye out for more changes in the future.- The benefits of Caster and Ancient Magic have been reworked. Hello everyone. Rather small patch this time around, just two things:- The Custom Lineage Guidelines have been updated to the current way Custom Lineages work, reflecting not only the updated way Lineage Effects apply, but also the Admin team's view on their grading. This was long overdue and I personally apologize for any delay.
- A small change that makes some people's lives easier has been made to Passives and Prestige Ranks. Advanced Spells that are obtained via the benefit of prestige ranks may now freely be turned into passive abilities without adherence to the traditional "1/4th" rule or the clause that prevents Advanced Spells from being turned into passives. The change can be found in the Spell Types section of the Magic and Spell Rules.

A small patch this time. The Guild Event System has been added to the site to allow for Guild Masters and guilds in general to develop their own guild-related events. Unlike Guild scale jobs, this is not limited to Jobs or Missions but can include recreational events like festivals, parties, et cetera.
Further, the new Guild Event system has added the long-awaited potential for guilds to permanently influence and alter the in-game continent of Ishgar in accordance with their goals. For this, the Guild Masters can work together in cooperation with the Administration Team and the Event Team to create guild-specific events that can, in the context of the dawn of official site canon and lore, more directly prompt player participation in Ishgar.

Hello my Dudes, Dudettes, and everything in between. Today I bring you a rather exciting new patch with changes made to the site. These include:- A change to the limit of characters that may be Guildless. Players may now possess up to 3 Guildless characters simultaneously in order to accommodate the new Faction System. This change is reflected in the Character Rules
- The Roleplay portion of exams is now entirely made optional. While adding your EXP and delivering proof of rank up is still a requirement, writing 1,000, 2,000, or 3,000 words to rank up is no longer strictly required to progress through ranks. If you so desire, the option is still available following the normal procedure. The change can be found in this section of the Character Rules.
- Made a small change to Unique Abilities. UAs are now the only context in which up to two user-rank buffs may be used in the same ability in a given magic, meaning that UAs can, for example, contain, at B rank, two separate 50% passive buffs. The change made is reflect in the Magic and Spell Rules
- Guild slots have been done away with, meaning that the system we used previously, i.e. a max of 3 Legal Guilds, 3 Neutral Guilds, and 3 Dark Guilds, has been done away with. Now there are only 9 guild slots that are independent of alignments, meaning that only interest dictates how many Legal, Neutral, and Dark Guilds exist. A single guild of any given alignment, Legal, Neutral, and Dark, must always exist, however, meaning that when the last guild of a given alignment is disbanded, new guild proposals must share an alignment with that guild to ensure that there is always at least 1 guild of any given alignment.
- The guild section has been moved from the bottom of the site towards the top following the "Quests" section to make it more visible.
Factions are official! The changes to the site in this context summed up:- "Guilds" Forum Section renamed to "Guilds & Factions".
- A section for "Faction" and "Faction Chapter" has been added to the Character Template. To join an applicable Faction and a Faction's Chapter, resubmit your character app for approval with a filled out "Faction" and "Faction Chapter" field.
- "The Ironheart Pact" here and "The Luminous Covenant" here have been created as joinable Factions. The Rune Knights are transformed from a Guild into a Faction, freeing up a Guild Slot. All members of the RK have been moved back to WIP and need to re-register their character as "Guildless" and enter "The Rune Knights" in the newly created Faction section of their character template (As per the wishes of the Rune Knight Faction Leaders, all characters that wish to join the RK faction must be and remain Guildless).
- The Rules for Factions have been added to the Guild and Faction Rules. You can find the relevant section here.
- Now that a guild slot is free, that means that suggestions for a new guild may be put up. To make this a little more equal than the rush we experienced last time, guild submissions may NOT be handed in to administration for review before Friday the 11th of March 2022, 3am EST. Once this period is over, members will have a full week before the first guild suggestions may be posted to the Suggestions subforum. In the period between the 11th of March and the 18th of March, edits will be made to the guild suggestions handed into administration should it be necessary. If not all guild suggestion are cleared for posting by the 18th, this period will be extended until all guild suggestions handed to administration for review have been cleared for posting. Failure to adhere to this will result in warnings. We will NOT tolerate the same kind of moaning and drama as that which happened last time guild slots became available.
- "Faction" has been added as a new profile field, which will be filled in with a player's Faction by a member of staff upon a player joining said faction
- Faction Colors have been added. Message an admin if you would prefer for your account to display your faction colors over your guild colors. Rune Knights by default utilize the Rune Knight color despite being guildless.
- A change to the limit of characters that may be Guildless. Players may now possess up to 3 Guildless characters simultaneously in order to accommodate the new Faction System. This change is reflected in the Character Rules

The guild suggestion for Divine Calamity has met the creation goals set by the staff team. As such, Divine Calamity is now an official Dark Guild, leaving no available guild slots. As such, no new guilds may be created until a guild slot becomes available once more. All members signed up for Divine Calamity have 7 days to unlock and move their character to the new guild. New sections for Divine Calamity have been added in the appropriate sections on the site.

Three minor changes to the magic and spell rules as well as applicable statistics in the Tables:- Dual-Category spells have been nerfed, making it so that their base values will always be halved when used (i.e. if e.g. an offensive and defensive type spell are paired, the damage will be reduced to 50% of the damage value for its rank and type, and the defense value is lowered to 1x rank values, halved again if an anti-piercing effect applies). See the change here
- Third Gen Force and Hybrid Force have been buffed, as the base increase these types of force provide has been increased from 50% to 100% (as, essentially, 2 instances of force apply). Find the change here
- Combat Arts have been buffed. Where they previously had separate values for Range, Speed, and Durability, the old (and lower) values for Technique Range, Technique Speed, and Technique Durability have been deleted. They now utilize the same base values as spells of the same kind. Technique Healing remains lowered and Technique Cost higher in exchange for the increased damage techniques deal. Find the change here as well as in the Tables and FAQ section.

A small patch: Based on the expressed wish of Plumed Serpent's Guildmaster, the guild is disbanded effective immediately. All of its assets will be turned to Jewels and distributed among the other guilds. This opens up a guild slot. New guild suggestions may be submitted to staff following the rules of the previous round of guild suggestions.
