Wait.. Why is there snow here?

The blonde haired youth was starting to get use to the cold weather that surrounded the castle ruins he was currently calling home within the Silent Glaciers. There was an issue though, winter was quickly approaching, his summons and his other guardians didn't know how he would handle it. They knew he could take a lot due to spending time here and even having to live without much protection from the elements due to where he was raised, still it was winter and would easily go into the severe minuses and they didn't want to put him at risk. They decided that perhaps it was now time for their young summoner to take a well deserved vaccation to somewhere warmer, there was of course Joya, Midi and perhaps even Bellum that might have served as a good holiday resort but there of course would be snow and they wanted him to be somewhere warm this season. It was then they decided that the warm weather of Desierto was just what the doctor ordered. When they had suggested it to the youth he was against it, he had no idea why he should go to that place of all places. He had said he could return to Tolgalen or another place but was flatly denied it making him annoyed. He could understand that they wanted to keep him safe from Cirven, Demi and their allies but he couldn't keep hiding it would improve nothing and keep him a prisoner for the rest of his live, he was done with it. He had been kept a prisoner for as long as he remember and finally wanted a chance to stretch his wings but it was clear they weren't giving him a say in this and finally the teen gave in though he was sure that he'd have less of a chance running into them on Tolgalen given the security messures. Then again he was reminded that they had ways around them which put him a little ond edge, regardless his christmas destination had been chosen for him.

He knew for such a travel he would need to fly because there was no way he was going to risk taking a ship in winter, especially where he was currently. That was just suicidle but then he worried about calling Bennu in such harsh weather, he knew Bennu's flames were so hot that it turned the ground into some sort of obsidian or glass if it was sand but still he would rather be safer than sorry. He had heard the screech of the young pheonix summon in the back of his mind and knew fine well that Bennu wanted to be the one who took him to the desert and that was one companion he'd rather not be on the bad side of given he could eat him in a single bite. It almost happened when he hatched and that was frightening to Ruvel to say the least, his bond to the giant fire bird was more than what it seemed on the surface even to the other summons that he had in his service. Ruvel himself was sickly and weak even though he put on a strong front as a leader and person to those he came across, for the most part it worked. People would have guessed his health status or that he was cracking under pressures he wasn't ready for. When Bennu hatched he was also sickly and weak, many of his beautiful golden crimson feathers were black and dull, for the life of him Ruvel even now didn't know what had caused it but his mother had plucked him up on a journey to a job to take him to her nest to give him to her sick chick as his first meal. He had enough power to have put them down even then but that wouldn't have solved anything, he did know a little ignian so managed to explain that he could help the sick chick to the mother.

He remembered how Bennu's mother had been cautious but eventually allowed him to inspect the newly hatched Bennu. One by one he started taking the bad feathers out, by the end of it Bennu had been plucked so much he could have passed as a giant christmas turkey ready for cooking. With each corrupted feather removed Bennu however seemed to become more and more lively, then and there he made a contract with Bennu with his mothers blessing. Part of the contract was that he looked for a permanant solution to the issue but continued to tend to Bennu's poisoned feathers as they appeared which he had been doing. He had even been adopted into Bennu's family and got preened when he visited, he tried to fuss at first but decided it would be better to just allow mother to do as she wished as it kept her and the others happy. It was nice to feel part of a family like that, where there was no expectations other than to act like a child, problem was... he had no idea how to act in such a way. It had been stolen from him and even when he managed to get away from that life, he had to work to support himself, when found by Dahau he ran away but swore he could feel his pets just at the edge of his sight. Then he met Cirven, the man who would adopt him as a little brother, he wasn't given the time to be a teenager as he was being groomed to take over the company, the running of Tolgalen and guild that was the dirty little secret of the company. Even now he wondered if Cirven knew something was coming and so that's why he was taught the way he was, well it wasn't like he could ask given that his adoptive elder brother wante him to switch sides he thought but then with how his eye sight was removed from him he was pretty sure death was the primary target.

Moving towards the courtyard he started to have a thought, perhaps others would like to have a little break in the dunes of Desierto "Shindara, could you get a message to Leona and Samira and see if they would like to meet for a holiday retreat in Desierto? If they agree give them the co-ordinates of whereever I'm being taken to." he sent to the elder of the two void princes knowing that it would be done quickly via summon, companion or a letter just appearing in front of them. With that done he moved into the courtyard and shuddered feeling the bite of the cold on his skin, he knew if he still had his sight he would be able to see his hot breath in the cold air but alas for now he couldn't. Raising his head he tried to fake a smile but couldn't "I ssannnnhan thi nnh tshh gairrtiin flinness shaf rredirrtsh" he finally said, shortly afterwards there was a screech followed by a sonicboom signalling Bennu's presence in the area before landing a little in front of ruvel melting the snow and causing steam to start rising. Ruvel on the other hand had been sent flying into a wall, where it did hurt he just got up and walked towards the unhappy chirping pheonix "I know it was just an accident Bennu." he said moving to try and stroke his beak but being beaten to the show of affection as Bennu started to preen Ruvel's hair "My hair is fine" he said in protest but got clicking in return, he sighed and just stood there allowing Bennu do as he wished before he was picked up and put onto his back without any warning.

He covered his ears as a screech soon followed as well as a sonicboom as he took off towards their destination. Soon it came to his attention he had no idea who was going to be with him within desert, he was always escorted with people as much as he wanted to do things on his own he knew that right now he just couldn't "Bennu, do you know who my escort is?" he asked moving closer to the his summons head and listened to what he was said only to groan "Why her? I don't want to deal with Ordhabbi." he complained laying down looking to the sky listening to the clicking "I know that Desierto is her home, she's a Djinn after all." he said just wanting to return back and ride out the winter in the frozen wastelands of the Silent Glaciers, he had noticed something about the area around the castle. It was a strange feeling, it felt hostile and where not directly aimed at him there was definatly hostility in and around the castle and as it got closer to the peak of winter that hostility seemed to grow with each passing day. He could only guess that was another reason they wanted him away from the castle, they were afraid that he would be attacked by whatever manevolent presence was there.

He must have dozed off because before long he was being woken by a screech and a sonicboom just as Bennu was decending into the area. He blinked under his silk bandage as something didn't feel right "Are you sure we're in a desert Bennu?" he said confused as to why something felt off, a child tried to hit him with a snowball but was met with the small ball evaporating before it even got close. He heard the unhappy clicking as if he was being told off "Yes, you're in a desert and no we have no idea why we have snow. Some stupid festival is here and it's causing all sort of issues, we aren't equipped to deal with snow!" he heard a familiar voice call out, after a short moment Bennu plucked him up and plopped him onto the ground "They weren't kidding... you are blind" the golden haired woman surrounded in royal purple silks as if she was getting ready to dance for someone said waving her hand in front of his face, her wrist being caught by him "I'm blind but I can still smell your perfume and feel air on my skin, please stop doing that Ordhabbi." he said in a frustrated tone releasing her wrist "Spoil sport." she grumbled in reply "There have been some monsters around here, the kids are enjoying the festivities but the adults are worried about the threats but like I said they aren't equipped to deal with this." she said sighing wanting the idiot mages just to leave already, but knew they'd be here for a while.

    -Desierto, Nebdoui, midday-

Wearing her white camouflage coat over her white, green, and gold outfit due to reports of snowfall in Desierto, Leona flew to her home village on her Winged Lion and landed on the normally sandy village outskirts, which were covered in a light layer of fallen snow. Leona was surprised to find out that the reports were true. Snow was drifting to the ground with no end in sight... it was strange to see snow covering the sand. This was the first time in her life that she could ever remember snow falling in Desierto, let alone in her home village. Normally she would not have been happy about the odd weather since she came here to escape the cold of the Phoenix Mountains, but today she did not mind.

Leona dispelled the Winged Lion and strode to the desert village with her Silver Longsword in its scabbard on her left hip and Argent Gloves gleaming in the early afternoon sun. As she approached the village she thought that her eyes were playing tricks on her. She saw that dozens of new canvas tents had sprung up in the village limits and saw children playing outside, children she had never seen before. Had the village's population actually grown since the last time she had been to Nebdoui?

Leona continued walking through the newly fallen snow until she reached the first tents. The children playing in the snow looked in her direction, then screamed and fled back to their tents, an action which caused the Wizard Saint no small amount of distress. She knew that she had built up a fearsome reputation, but now it had developed to the point she could terrify children by her mere presence. That was not something Leona had wanted to be known for, but it was what it was. The Wizard Saint strode deeper into the newly expanded village and heard more screaming behind her.

Was Leona about to get a tongue lashing from angry parents for scaring their children?

Leona heard the rapid crunching of running behind her and had to fight the urge to draw her weapon. She had to remind herself that she was on home ground and that the people running towards her did not want to kill her. Instead she turned around and was greeted by the children and their parents.

"It's her! It's really her! It's Leona Jarnefeldt!" A young dark-haired boy wrapped in tan clothing and wearing homemade gloves exclaimed. Green eyes looked towards their parents and saw that instead of looks of anger, their faces wore expressions of hope. They looked to be as glad to see her as the children did.

"Are you serious? She's Leona Jarnefeldt? I thought she was just a myth!" A dark-haired man in tan robes and a tan facewrap said incredulously as he gawked at her with brown eyes. Leona kept quiet. With all the tales of her adventures floating around and being distorted with each retelling, it was inevitable that some people would think that she was just a myth, not an actual person.

"It's the Wizard Saint of Courage! Look at those gloves, those eyes, and that hairstyle! It really is her!" A dark-haired woman standing behind the boy chimed in. Leona was not sure what to make of this. She had never really been comfortable with the publicity surrounding her title, but if it gave the people of her village hope that a living legend was there to help and protect them, she could learn to live with it. All the commotion drew a familiar face out of the chief's tent, a familiar face with green eyes and long blonde hair wearing a white winter coat, white gloves, and tan boots.

"Leona! Welcome back!" Sophia exclaimed before running to hug Leona. The Wizard Saint let her mother hug her in front of the new people without complaint. Despite how insistent Sophia could be about Leona's "proper place" being that of a homemaker and a mother, Leona still cared for her. She just wished that her mother would tone it down a bit. Sophia released her daughter from the hug and spoke to her with happiness.

"Follow me to the chief's tent, my dear. We have much to discuss. Come on!" Sophia urged Leona. Something had happened to make the older Jarnefeldt a very happy person. Had Leonidas gotten married and finally given their mother the grandchildren she wanted so badly? Or was it something related to all the new faces in the village? Leona would find out soon enough... she followed her mother into Chief Elijah's tent and the children of Nebdoui resumed playing in the snow.

Post by Samira Nassar 21st December 2019, 9:36 am

"Owwwwww!!!!" Cried the spirit known as Serqet, who was attacked by a small scorpion. Not just any scorpion, but an ice-like scorpion. Being a spirit that was part scorpion she was excited to see and meet such a thing. It was possible that she planned to claim it and it's skittering pals as pets. Unfortunately, the winter scorpions didn't seem to like her very much. "That actually hurt! I think it gave me frostbite where it hit me!" The spirit blew on the hand that got stung, as if that were going to help whatsoever in the long run. "Huh?" The spirit looked up as she heard the click clacking of the winter scorpions increase and head in her direction. They were coming for her now and if those were considered stings of affection then she could live without them! The spirit screamed and ran to the other side of the room.... Which wasn't far from the group of scorpions since they were all actually in a pit in the ground. She had pretty much jumped in without thinking so she could say hello to the creatures. The scorpions apparently wanted people to knock first or something.

"This is why you do not jump into random holes in the ground." The summoner the scorpion spirit belonged to said in a very nonchalant tone while looking down into the pit. Honestly that one was hopeless. Samira had even tried to tell her not to rush ahead and jump in but it was too late. The capability to listen was turned off.

"I never have this issue with normal scorpions! Help me get out of here!" The whine turned into another scream, this one mixed of both horror and surprise as a giant block of ice fell right into the pit, crushing the rampaging scorpions and nearly taking her with it. If she had not been right at the edge she probably would have been crushed.

"Problem is solved." Another spirit was now standing at the opening of the pit, right next to Samira. This one being the representation of Skadi. A spirit that was never bothered by the winter cold, controlled wolves made of frost, and apparently had blocks of ice stashed in her pockets.

"Solved?! You almost squished me too!"

    "Would have solved second problem."

"Enough of that," Samira added before Serqet's whining got worse. "Help her out of there, please."

Skadi shrugged. "Is another way to correct problem. More effort for less than pleasant result though." That result being Serqet would still be around to be the normal annoyance that she typically was. It would have just been easier to have her squished under that block of ice to send her back to their special section of the celestial realm. She did what was asked of her though. The ice spirit summoned up an ice ladder that could be used for Serqet to climb up. That was one hell of an easy rescue operation, but that was not why any of them were there, was it? Not even close.

Originally, the Goddess of Ishgar had gone to Desierto to look for something. The strange map that the prophet Sanura had given her was supposed to lead her to something there. Something that she needed to find supposedly. The old woman had cautioned her about trying to use it too early and warned that it might not work, instead leading to danger or nothing at all. Such was the case currently. A few scattered ruins had been found, but nothing was there whatsoever that she or even her spirits could tell. Surely, something so important would be a bit more obvious. Then the weather had begun to change drastically and rapidly. It was an unexplained phenomenon that should not have been able to occur naturally. Was magic somehow involved? It would have had to be very powerful to affect an entire country! That was one of the real problems that was staring the woman in the face. Not Serqet having trapped herself in a pit, or her annoying habits. Granted, those same antics led them to discover a secondary issue. With the new weather new creatures had started to appear. Or so Samira could conclude with the ice scorpions. She could only hope that they were the only new surprises to be found in the once sandy desert's winter cold.

With Serqet saved and now clinging to Skadi as her rescuer, they were pretty much ready to continue on. That is, until a an all too familiar announcer voice killed the silence and echoes of the temple ruins. "MAIL FOR SAMIRA NASSAR!!!" In a confetti of particles a letter appeared to hover in mid-air in front of her face. With a twitching brow, Samira waved the sparkly particles away from her face and snatched the letter out of the air. "Honestly, I thought they got rid of that system by now," she commented, recalling her adventures with that broken magical mail system the mailman of Magnolia tried to set up and instead littered the world with fireworks, letters, trash mail, and packages.

'Weeelll they did temporarily to work out the kinks. I still like to use it every now and then for giggles though. That one came from Team Ruvel. I think. Maybe? I actually didn't ask, but it seemed like his party.'
"I see." She supposed that made some sense. Although why she would be getting word from the other summoner was unknown and intriguing. The folds of the envelope parted as she begun the process of opening it and taking out the paper within. "Why did you not just bring this to me yourself? It is not necessary for you to use a mail delivery service when you can literally appear right in front of me this very instant."
'It's cold out there, man. I'm not built for that...'
To that Samira rolled her eyes while shaking her head hopelessly. Agni had literal flame inside him and was pretty much built like a walking talking molten monstrosity. To say a bit of chilly air got to him was ridiculous. It was no where near as cold as it was during their adventure in Iceberg. Now that was cold. "If you say so." The Wizard Saint pretended to believe his reasoning and let the topic drop. Her entire focus was now on reading the letter that had been sent.

After a quick moment to read its contents, Samira folded it back up and slipped it into her pocket. Thankfully, it wasn't a matter of urgency or word of trouble. It was more of an invitation for both Leona and herself. If she had absolutely nothing to do she would have been delighted to receive it. Unfortunately, being a mage, and a high ranking one at that, she had responsibilities. Samira couldn't just drop everything every time a festival or a social gathering presented itself. There was the matter of the strange weather and a change in the creatures, though. Technically it would not be ditching her responsibilities if she took the time to investigate the situation. And a good investigation involved seeing if anyone else knew anything about what was going on. Or at least warning them if they knew nothing about it. The logic was reasonable enough. Despite a few chuckles coming from the guardians connected to her mind. "Oh, hush. If everyone is in the area we may as well team up to figure out what is going on. I am still concerned about those ice scorpions too. What if there are more of them?"

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever. You need a ride or what? The cat isn't here to do his damn job, so I guess that makes me ride number two. Yay for me." The sarcastic voice of another spirit said while summoning herself on the outside of the temple ruins. A large winged serpent she was, and one capable of getting to the coordinates that were given quickly enough. The serpent snapped her jaws at Serqet when she tried to get on though, making the scorpion spirit flee back to Skadi to safety. "Who invited you two? I offered the ride to the summoner. The two of you can get lost."

"But... I wanna gooooooo. How are we supposed to get there?"
"Is okay." Skadi assured the other spirit while bringing her in closer by the shoulder and waving her free arm in the air. "I have great plan." What was that great plan? Well by the time Skadi's outfit transformed to have protective gear on it and she summoned up a snowboard it was a bit obvious what the plan was. "We snowboard down hill!" A second snowboard was passed to Serqet and then Skadi took off down the hill like a pro. Serqet... well she took off. Unwillingly. That tends to happen when tripping over the board after dropping it.

"They do know the coordinates are further away than just one hill, right? Just how many morons do we have in this crew?"
Samira blinked as she tilted her head and watched the two spirits go. It was actually kind of unbelievable that they neglected to consider how far away they would be going. "I guess they will figure it out at some point." She shrugged. Well that was that. As soon as she was on the large winged serpent, the spirit took off towards the meeting coordinates.

Wait.. Why is there snow here?

Ruvel had waited a bit in the area where he said he would meet his friends, contently stroking Bennu's nose, he had no idea the area the summons had decided to pick for his winter vacation was actually the village that Leona was born and raised in. "We should get going." Ordhabbi said her tone showing she wasn't overly happy she was playing babysitter to her former summoner, Ruvel put her grumpiness down to the fact her home was covered in snow. He couldn't exactly blame her she was a fire Djinn after all so snow just wasn't something she wanted to deal with if she could help it. It was one of the plus sides of living in the silent glaciers if you asked him, she made him feel terrible when he needed to summon her as he would have to do some serious harm to himself or hit an ally. He only ever hit an ally once and felt like a terrible horrible person but he couldn't afford to take anymore damage himself at that point. It was something the djinn never let him forget so as hard as it was to say goodbye to many of his summons she was one he was happy enough to say good riddance to as she made his life that much worse so she could entertain herself. It wasn't always bad though, he had to admit that to himself. When he was in a bad way she had taken care of him until he could get the energy together to call someone who could help him better in the situation he was in. She always said she might be a bitch who wanted to see him hurt but she never wanted him dead, he had to guess that was her way of showing she cared about him in her own unique way.

"Come on. Lets go, it's to cold here." the red haired woman once again protested, she wanted to be inside the warmth of the tents and out of what she precieved as cold. Ruvel thought she was playing on the whole snow thing given she was standing right next to Bennu who had already melted the ice around him and made a small area of glass he was currently sat on comfortably. "Even I know it isn't cold in this area given Bennu is here and gives off enough heat that a volcano would be jealous." he said back to her showing he wasn't buying her complaint making the red head huff and cross her arms like a teenaged brat. "I am waiting for my friends, so as my guide and guardian so are you." he said to her, instantly reminding her of her current responcibilities to him given she agreed to do this when she was less than politely told by others she was going to be doing this. Ruvel didn't know the ins and outs and something told him that he really didn't want to. "Fine, we'll wait a little longer." she grumbled as she lent against Bennu who was happily chirping and trying to eat snow before it evaporated into nothing. It was then his stupidly sensitive hearing thanks to not only losing his sight but being a slayer also picked up children talking about Leona returning and tilted his head "She's returning?" he seemed to ask almost as if puzzled making Ordhabbi groan "Yes, she's returning. This is her home villiage, for someone so smart you are seriously dumb some times you know that." she said belittling him making his body language tense. Her words and how Ruvel reacted to them of course didn't go over well with Bennu who picked her up by her hair and threw her a few meters south east of where they were currently located.

When she landed she ended up rolling down a snow dune and getting covered on snow, when she came back she seen the over sized bird nuzzling into Ruvel before screeching at her in annoyance "Alright, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." she said bringing her hands up as if surrendering to him, this was because she knew that throw was just a warning shot, next time she wouldn't be so lucky and she knew it so would have to watch how she interacted with Ruvel for the time being. She really didn't want to risk upsetting something that could set even her on fire. Ruvel then heard something unusual followed by children screaming, the crunching of the snow showed they were running from their current location back into the safety of the village "Great, now what?" she said dusting the last of the snow off herself only to see what could be described as a giant mutated snowman built of snow and ice coming towards them at a semi quick pace. "We have company. It's slightly smaller than Bennu, has ice teeth and claws, if that's not bad enough it has sharp ice on it's knees and has spines like a hedgehog so I'm trying to figure out what this monstrosity is meant to be." she said seemingly deep in thought about the abomnibal snowman that was heading right for them "Oh is that all?" Ruvel said rolling his eyes under his bandaged eyes. "Bennu, could you please get it away from here." he instructed the overgrown pheonix who clicked and chirped happily as he stood up and moved towards it curiously thinking he could finally get some snow. At first the walking snow pile didn't notice the fire bird, that was until it started to melt, it stopped in its tracks for a long moment as if trying to figure out what was happening, soon after he caught his first glimpse of Bennu heading towards him at a quick pace cooing in excitement. The snow brute's eyes went wide as it fully understood now what was happening and started to run away from the ever encroaching bird, a path of dry sand being left in the wake of Bennu running around trying to get what he considered his treat.

Ordhabbi burst into a fit of laughter seeing this, watching as the snowman was slowly melting each and every time Bennu got to close, to her it was like watching a slapstick chase scene on a lacrima "Ar.. aren't you going to... to s.. stop him?" she asked barely able to breath due to what she was watching "No, he's happy so why should I?" Ruvel asked in return to her question she couldn't answer by this point she had almost keeled over in laughter. Ruvel was unsure if anyone else was seeing the chase scene that was playing out between Bennu and the overgrown snowman, it didn't matter however before to long the snow brute had melted but Bennu still managed to get a bite of his arm before he did and came back satisfied before sitting back on his glass area. "Enjoy yourself Bennu?" he asked stroking his beak only to get a reply of happy clicking as his answer, before long the snow had covered the path Bennu had made and cautious children were back out playing with supervision of guards this time to make sure they were safe.

    -Inside Chief Elijah's tent-

"Welcome, Leona! Aside from the snow, we have some good news for once!" Chief Elijah greeted Leona in a cheerful manner. Standing beside him was Joshua, who looked to be in a good mood himself. The interior of the tent was neatly organized and the large map of Desierto was still up with the prominent red circle around the iron mine that Leona had fought to take from The Golden Band. Around the red circle were jotted notes such as "SLAVER CAMP" and "CRIMSON SASHES WANT THIS PLACE" in neat black letters. Her mother was busy organizing scrolls related to the village and keeping the records up to date.

"What's that? Did you and Joshua manage to get together a big enough army to retake the iron mine for good?" Leona asked the chief. Elijah and Joshua both gave nervous smiles. Leona knew that they had not yet managed to wrangle a big enough force from the allied villages to take and keep the iron mine. Joshua spoke up and answered Leona's question.

"We're still working on that, Leona. In the meantime, we've received an influx of new people who have joined our village. They're from other villages who suffered losses from outlaw attacks that left them unable to sustain their villages, so they chose to come live here." Joshua answered. Leona was surprised to hear that. Why would they abandon their homes to come live in a dangerous place like this one? Joshua must have anticipated that question because he was ready with an answer.

"They chose to come here because they heard about our alliance with Berreb, the Blue Sky Clan, and the Regudo and knew that it was somewhat safer than where they were. They also know you live here, which makes Nebdoui even safer because only the most desperate or confident outlaws would attack a Wizard Saint's hometown." Joshua gave his answer. Leona really wanted to ask if her being Wizard Saint made Nebdoui any safer. The village had been a pit stop for outlaw gangs for decades and it had not lost that status when Leona was proclaimed a Wizard Saint: on the contrary, the attacks seemed to increase after she earned her title. She had been pushing back hard and the attacks on Nebdoui had lessened, but the allied villages were still having trouble with The Crimson Sashes and that was what had delayed the retaking of the mine.

Leona thought she hard screaming in the distance. Moments later a mustached man threw open the tent flap and stuck his head inside.

"Chief, we've spotted some strange creatures approaching the village! They're like men made out of crystal! They're throwing ice spears around and we can't get them to stop!" The man warned everyone of an incoming threat. Leona knew that this was a threat that she had to handle. She hurried out of the tent without another word.

    -Outside, Nebdoui-

Ignoring the biting cold, Leona burst from the tent and past the man, hurrying past a crowd of onlookers and hurriedly assembled village militia to engage the creatures before they reached the village. Leona ran through the snow and to the outskirts where she stood in front of them about 100 meters from the village proper. There were three of the ice men in a triangular formation and they did not even attempt to communicate. They began to form ice spears and throw them at the blonde, who wasted no time in dodging them and thinking of a way to hit back.

Leona put the index and middle fingers of her right hand together and focused magic into the fingers, then fired a Silver Tempest spell at the one in the middle. The silver horizontal tornado hit it squarely in the torso and it shattered into icy chunks, leaving only two of the ice beings standing. They threw more spears at her and Leona dodged them by jumping from side-to-side until she closed to hand-to-hand range with the one on the left. It leaned forward and blew a cloud of frost that hit her chest and neck, taking her breath away from the intensity of the cold.

The Wizard Saint recovered just enough to initiate a combo of hand-to-hand strikes starting with a Swift Palm to the chest. It chipped a little ice away and Leona followed with a Mach Jab to the same spot, punching a shallow hole in the creature's chest. Next came a Mach Straight that punched a deeper hole and expanded the cracks across the entirety of its torso. It rapidly backed away from her while flinging ice spears and Leona pointed her right index finger at the fleeing enemy.

A silver ball the size of a marble formed on her fingertip and she fired the Wind Bullet at the hole in its chest. The projectile hit and the enemy shattered completely. There was only one more ice creature left and it was not waiting around for her to kill it. It took the offensive and rushed Leona with an ice spear, stabbing wildly at the Wizard Saint and not giving her any room to breathe or strike back.

Leona ducked under a spear thrust and popped up, hitting it with a Mach Uppercut under its chin. It recovered and blew a cloud of frost that she ducked under before jumping back and preparing for a Zephyr Charge. Once the spell was ready Leona dashed forward and slammed into the enemy with the wind barrier, damaging it badly but not defeating it. A Mach Straight to the chest solved that problem in a cloud of ice shards.

Once the threat was ended Leona looked around her and spotted Ruvel with a bird companion close by. Leona blinked. When did he get here?

Wait... Why is there snow here? Empty Re: Wait... Why is there snow here?

Post by Samira Nassar 26th December 2019, 2:15 am

Using the winged serpent spirit to fly to the coordinates wasn't exactly a one hundred percent terrible decision. The spirit was quick and great time was being made despite how far away they were from the set coordinates. What had been overlooked was the colder air while in flight. Samira had been dressed warmly to combat the unexpected weather change, but it wasn't exactly enough to keep her fully warm during the journey. It was freezing. Still not like the time she got stuck in Iceberg freezing, but pretty close. Not wishing to complain to the being that would likely drop her off at a random location if she said anything, Samira kept her mind busy with other things and thoughts. At some point it occurred to her where the coordinates were taking them. "Are we stopping at Nebdoui?"

"Wouldn't know. All of these villages look the same to me. Am I supposed to be impressed and excited if it's this... Neb something or other place?"

"No. It was just an interesting location to meet if so." From what Samira recalled from the Sorcerer's Magazine, Leona was from that very village. She herself had never been there since she never had any reason to, and she wondered if Ruvel had even realized it was the home of the Wizard Saint when he picked out the location. Probably so. Though it was still odd to meet up at a random village, and even odder to land right on Leona's doorstep. Hmph, well, she supposed she would find out more about the social call once she got there. Provided of course that there were no more strange creatures around that were trying to make the sandy desert their permanent home after the magic winter took over and turned everything to cold, ice, and snow.

Samira generally never got what she wished for when it came to things going smoothly. They could see the village ahead, along with some interesting fighting and chases going on. Though, everything seemed to come to an end as each instance was taken care of and the threat eliminated. It was not over. A giant snowball soared through the air right into the pathway of Kukulkan and Samira. Whether it was trying to aim at them or the village though was uncertain. The serpent maneuvered out of the way barely in time, having been alerted of the incoming mass of snow after hearing a loud roar coming from that direction. The giant snowball kept soaring straight in the direction of the village. There was little the two of them could do though for when that snowball passed by it was time to dodge another. The two wizards down below could likely take care of the bombardment so Samira was not all too worried about that. "Is that seriously a yeti? The company that handles residential property for monsters works fast. Even they are already moving in now that it's cold as hell out here."

Samira sighed. Another day, another obstacle to take care of that she would rather not. Fighting that day had not been on her original agenda. "We are going to have to go in and take care of it. If we ignore it, it is possible that it will just attack the village instead. I do not even know if its interest is with us or those down below so just leaving is not going to do much good if it is the latter."

"Eh, it's probably both. Gotta have everything off its new shiny lawn." Kuku turned her body around fully and headed towards the Yeti that was partially hiding itself behind the hills of snow and ice. Beginning the descent, her speed also picked up with no intentions of slowing down her momentum. This was a cause for alarm for the summoner since she expected to feel the serpent slow down a bit to land or let her off, but that feeling never came. Instead things only went faster. Her verdant colored eyes widened as the realization of the snake planning to just smack herself into the yeti crossed her mind. "Kuku! No! That is a horrible plan!"

"I think it's a great plan. Hold on or something because I am not planning on catching you. Probably won't be able to actually."

"At least let me off first!"

"And ruin the speed I got going here? Just jump off if you don't want to crash with me."

"I am not jumping off!!! Just stop!"

And so the argument went for the last several seconds that was left. At the last possible moment, Samira did jump off. Sort of. The speed and the movement of Kuku dodging another snowball made the final decision for her as she fell off while preparing to jump off. At that point she was low enough to the ground that no real damage was caused when she landed on the snow, though she did tumble quite a bit until she came to a natural stop. As for the yeti and the spirit, they did crash into each other. The large yeti had tumbled as well and flown backwards from the impact, but it was hardly enough to take it out. The creature was sturdy and powerful in its own right. It was not long at all before it recovered and was back on its feet and ready to go for round two. The crash landing served to be nothing more than a simple distraction than anything it seemed. It was very likely it would take quite a few experienced mages to defeat the creature enough for total elimination or cause it to retreat. How lucky it was for Samira that she was the type of mage that she was. With her spirits, numbers were on her side to help with that problem.

Three more spirits were called upon to help the now injured Kukulkan and herself. All of them worked to use their more powerful abilities and normal moves to try and weaken the creature. It took quite a bit of effort. The yeti was fast for its size and had an intelligence level that was higher than other creatures Samira had run into. The majority of them never considered going after the magic woman that summoned the spirits. The human target was generally in the back or doing something else so she was of little threat compared to the spirits that were actually doing the majority of the damage, right? Well the yeti was one that caught on. Take out the human summoner and the spirits would go poof.

The yeti glared in Samira's direction while she was busy summoning up a lesser bow of Sagittarius, a weapon that was used in her requip magic to represent her link to the Zodiac. Her intent had been to use its power while the yeti was occupied with the spirits. A clear shot was all she needed to hopefully take it down for good, or cause enough harm to it for it to leave completely and search for a new home. Either option was suitable for the mage that was previously in a monster hunting guild. As she looked at the yeti and prepared to use her weapon though, what she saw was a rampaging monster heading right for her, ignoring the spirits and their assault against it. Once again her eyes widened so much that they nearly popped out of her face. With a scream, Samira turned around and started to run away. With how quick the creature was she didn't have any time to think of something else... her mind just went automatically to the flee option. Doing anything while in pieces was quite impossible, after all. So, it was in her best interest to avoid that result.

The spirits sweatdropped as they watched one of the supposedly most powerful mages in the world take off as if she were some newbie to the mage combat world. Well, they couldn't place too much judgement on her, they supposed. It had been a long while since they had come across anything even remotely difficult to defeat or take care of. They had all gotten slightly lazy with their power streak as well and a bit out of practice with time. That needed to be remedied to prevent situations like the current one. The tools, abilities, and power existed in the woman's arsenal to end it all right then and there, but it most likely was not even remembered. Rare was it that any of that power was actually used or needed. Plus, she was caught off guard by the change in enemy tactics. If she expected to be the target that was one thing. Spirits being completely ignored when they usually were not was a bit of a new thing.

As Samira ran, eventually those in the village could actually see her running by in the distance. Followed by a rampaging yeti going after her. Followed by a small group of spirits going after it. Any assistance before she resulted to spamming random spells would be appreciated.

Wait.. Why is there snow here?

Ruvel turned his head towards the giant pheonix just as he settled down where he had been sitting previously, part of the snow brute still in his mouth almost like an ice lolly. "Bennu?" he said with a confused tone, he had no idea what the hell had just happened and it showed on his face, he was met with a happy chirp. "Did you have fun?" he asked stroking the giant fire birds beak, blinking under his blindfold as he felt something cold on his hand "Put that down Bennu" he demanded of his young summon, for the first time since their contract was made he clicked unhappily "Bennu I'm not joking put that thing down! You don't know where its been or what diseases it has." Ruvel pointed to the ground tapping his foot showing he wasn't happy about this "Like he could get sick by anything, his flames could incinerate pretty much anything." Ordhabbi scoffed making Ruvel sigh in frustration "You aren't helping any Ordhabbi." Ruvel said in responce, he couldn't argue with that fact given just how much heat Bennu gave off but still he wasn't going to risk it "Bennu, you put it down now or I will send you home to mother and will pay a visit to tell her what you are doing." he sounded somewhat upset, the next thing he heard was a thud with a slight squeltch sound "Eww, nasty" Ordhabbi protested moving away from it. "That thing needs to be burned or buried for everyone's sake." the djinn said Ruvel quirked an eyebrown "Then go ahead and do it Ordhabbi." Ruvel said she opened her mouth to say something but recieved a wack from Bennu's wing leaving her dumbfounded for a moment before she looked to him "Burn it then you overgrown turkey." she huffed, at that moment Bennu screeched picking her up from her top by his beak and threw her a few meters away before burning up the snow brute's arm.

Ruvel sighed who had guessed what was going on between Bennu and Ordhabbi "The fire is overly passionate and aggressive as always I see." he rubbed his temples, this wasn't anything new between two "Will you two please behave yourselves, we are guests here... well I'm at least a guest here." he corrected himself realizing that they called this country home even if it wasn't their home realms. Well at least in Ordhabbi's case this wasn't her home realm, she didn't let it be known where she originally came from and Ruvel had the common sense not to push the matter. "Was that needed Bennu?" he asked the pheonix stroking his beak listening to his clicking "Yes, I know but you are better than her so don't do it again." he told him tapping his beak as if scolding him making Bennu click again, the raging Ordhabbi quickly moving back to the pair "I'm going to pluck him" she said angrily flaming fire balls in her hand "Enough of that Ordhabbi. You know you'll have to go through me to get to those I have a contract with. You after all were once in such a contract and gained the same protections." his tone was cold for a brief moment making the woman stop "Do you want to try me Ordhabbi? I am stronger than I once was as are those I still have contracts with." he said making her shake her head knowing better than to go against him given that she knew exactly what was laying dormant within him and how where Ruvel didn't want to cause harm the arch demon inside him held no such qualms of slitting a person's throat if the situation called for it. "Fine!" she huffed crossing her arms looking to the side she was clearly annoyed but Ruvel didn't care he wasn't being walked over by her again.

Ordhabbi pointed as she noticed Leona inside the small village "Hay, your friend is here... well I think it's your friend." she said completely forgetting that Ruvel couldn't see where she was pointing "Ordhabbi, I can't see who you're pointing at if your pointing, I'm blind remember." he said pointing to the fabric around his eyes "Oh, right." she said scratching her cheek "She's a woman with shoulder length blonde hair, blue top and white top with a pink neck tie bow thing, white skirt, black tights or stockings, white boots, gloves" she tried to describe Leona as quick as she could but left out some details "Sounds like Leona." he said Ordhabbi turned him to be facing her "Can wave now." she said Ruvel who lifter his arm and waved "Leona, hi!" he called out to the other in the hopes to get her attention not realising that he had already be spotted "Bennu, stay here a moment and don't touch that thing." he instructed the fire bird before heading towards his fellow wizard saint with the help of his former djinn summon leading him but stopped as Bennu started to fuss causing Ruvel to turn towards him "Bennu what's wrong?" he asked listening to the screeching and clicking as he quickly told him what was going "Leona, seems Samira has found us and has brought a very aggressive and uninvited guest with her." he informed his fellow blonde as he ran back the way he came, he hated sand when he could see but hated it even more now because he couldn't see how it was shifting and so fell to his knees a few times "I need to get use to this..." he said to himself more than the others "Ordhabbi, tell me when they are within three hundred meters please." he instructed the dancer who nodded watching and waiting "Now." she let the blonde haired male know who instantly swipped his hand in front of him a white and pink seal circle appearing three hundred meters on the ground around him, all sorts of gently glowing petals from all around the world started to blow up around him. These petals made his and his allies spells able to go farther and faster but as this was happening the petals started to cut into the yeti that was chasing Samira, due to them cutting into non vital areas the yeti wasn't going to be killed by the attack, it merely wounded it making it slower than what it had been due to injury. This he hoped would help his fellow summoner but just in case he lifted his hand to the sky and flatened it his palm face up as he did a storm grey seal appeared above them in the sky the weather starting to change as the wind sped up making what could only be described as a blizzard

"Bennu, Ordhabbi make sure the villiage isn't affected by this attack" he instructed them before Bennu walked into the village and sat down right in the middle of it, he knew the warmth of his feathers would protect from the rain and snow. Ordhabbi moved on top of him and controlled bennu's heat so no one was injured and that buildings weren't damaged. "If nothing else you've given them somewhere to collect the rain water after all this is done." the fire djinn said to the fire bird who chirped and flapped happily that he could help the village. Soon it started to rain heavily, thunder and lightning crackling across the skies "Don't worry, you're all perfectly safe." Ordhabbi said to the villiagers, she on the other hand had no idea if she was spouting a lie or not but she didn't care either way. Lightning quickly shot down and almost caught one of Samira's summons on the first strike, the second strike it caught the yeti who though was injured was still running faster than a donkey chasing a carrot on a stick. As the lightning caught the yeti it seemed to stop in its tracks paralysed from the lightning strike "You know you've likely just pissed that thing off." Ordhabbi called over to Ruvel "Yes, I'm aware." he called back "You know it will likely be aiming for you when it can move again." she called back again "Again, I am aware.. however.. I believe that Samira is between me and it and she is no push over, also Leona is here and if the three of us can't take down a overgrown furball that took the wrong left then we really should give up our titles and retire as mages." he called back, to him it really was as simple as that. What Ruvel forgot was the fact that water conducts electricity and while the yeti was doused in water from the storm he himself had created, still being attacked by the petals from one of his other spells he had also been struck by lightening several times making the poor beast slump while being stood up almost as if on strings 'Oykai, is it?' he asked the summon that dealt with death 'It is, yes. Now remember to say happy anniverasry to Samira it was one year to the day that we met her. You should take it's horn or something because there is a market for it I think.' he reminded his summoner before going quiet, the lightening and petals instantly coming to an end as their was no longer a threat.
