To Hunt A Vampire - Part 1 [Job, Mythal] Empty To Hunt A Vampire - Part 1 [Job, Mythal]

Taking a deep breath, Markus found himself standing in front of the Guild Hall. Looking about he could see a few evening stragglers, however for the most part he was alone. The chaos mage found himself preparing for another job. Markus could not keep himself at the Guild Hall, ever since returning he had kept busy, mostly to avoid the awkward conversations and questions.

Looking once more at the job flier Markus tried to keep himself busy. It looks like they would be traveling to a old group of monster hunters, and providing aid. From what he can tell the Job is dangerous, and involves vampires. Meaning it is ranked at B. Giving a sigh Markus read once more, unfortunately most of the information it seemed would have to wait till after they met with the clients. At least there was some good news.

Today Markus would be working with another Fairy Tail guild member, Mythal if he remembered the name correctly. Markus had never met the man before, and assumed he had joined while Markus was away. Knowing virtually nothing about him, other than the fact that he was another dark magic user, Markus decided to hold back any judgement. He just hoped the man would not annoy him.

Now wanting to waste any time, and assuming both their magic worked better at night, Markus had asked the man to meet him after the sun had set. As usual Markus had gotten to location early, using the shadows and his special abilities to stay hidden from all but the strongest wizards, he waited for the man to appear so that they could be off.

Post by Mythal Ragnos 28th November 2018, 4:13 pm

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

Working with a partner. This was going to be interesting.

Mythal had done most -- okay, all -- of his jobs by himself thus far, far more satisfied to do things at his own pace rather than rely on someone else. There was also the fact that he didn't really enjoy interacting with most people. The Fairy Tail guild members seemed... just as eccentric as every other human but they were, in the end, still his guildmates. It meant that he had a responsibility to respect them and Mythal would abide by that personal rule no matter the cause. Besides, some of them didn't seem that bad. Arcadia was kind of nice, if a bit bubbly.

But he'd been paired for this job because his partner apparently also used a kind of shadow magic. He wasn't given many details, beyond that the job was a rank above his current one and would be a tough challenge for him. Mythal wasn't against taking on challenges so long as he got paid so he had agreed. After all, a user of similar magic to him would make it a bit more... fun? Probably not the word he was looking for but the hell with it.

While Markus had stuck to the shadows and kept himself hidden from prying eyes and senses, Mythal simply couldn't be bothered. He walked down the main road, his hands tucked into his pockets as usual and a look of almost exhaustion on his face. Mythal rarely ever looked happy; the best word one could use to describe him would either be mysterious or pensive. Descriptions of himself didn't really affect him either way, as other people's opinions mattered little to him until they proved worth acknowledging. He stopped in front of the guild hall, a few yards away from another man who seemed to be waiting too. What were the chances?

"Hey," Mythal spoke up, nodding at the man. "You Markus?"

Markus glanced up as he was approached, it is not often that his face showed emotion, and this time was no different. His gaze was one of reflection, as he looked at the mage. So far, Markus was placated. Unlike many of his guild mates this one wasted no time with needless introductions, or over the top pleasantries, or theatrics of any kind. Markus thought he might could actually enjoy this one’s company, or at least tolerate it.

Adopting his usual sly grin Markus took a step forward, just as a raven landed upon his shoulder. With a quick glance at his companion the black clad mage spoke up.

“I take it you are Mythal.” Markus was not one for needless talking, unless forced, so after returning the mans nod the black clad mage started walking. Markus took a few seconds to see what the man knew of their job and get any idea on how the man might feel. After all, knowing if your partner is going to run out on you is important. Unless otherwise initiated he would lapse into silence as the two wizards made their way to the Hunters compound.

The journey was long, and Markus for the most part paid little attention. The mages were headed to the Cursed Lands, a large and old landscape full of dangerous creatures, and voracious monsters. Markus had been there before, on a few previous jobs not including errands for Chaos, as such if asked he would give the other mage any information he knew of the local.

Soon enough the Mages found themselves in front of a stately stone compound. Surrounding it was a large fence, and Markus could see only one entrance. Looking about, Markus noticed three perhaps four guards, and a few lights within the compound itself. After showing the gate guard their job request papers the two were ushered inside and shown a meeting room or den. In one corner burned a fireplace, and in the center was a large desk. Behind which sat a battle-hardened female warrior.

Wasting no time with pleasantries Markus asked few questions and got what information he needed. Leaving any other questions to the other Mage to ask. Although they were partners on this job, and Markus knew the mage was below his ‘rank’, not that Markus cared about such things, he made a point to let the other mage get his own intel and ask his own questions. Markus himself learned that the Hunters needed help with a new breed of Vampire, one which was impervious to most older methods of attacking such creatures.

The woman informed them that there was an old Hunter compound not far from their location, a cabin in the Lycan Woods. Within this compound the leader believed was a book which had more details about vampires, and the various breeds associated with the creatures.

She asked that the mages head to this cabin, get through a barrier which seems to be halting her men, then return with the book. Should they do this they would get the reward.

Waiting on the other Mage, should he have any other questions, Markus took time to let his shadow companion silently search the room. He knew, with its abilities only a mage of higher rank than his own would be able to sense the creature. The room itself held little of value, though Markus saw tombs, and a silvered weapon or two. His companion sadly found the same, not wanting to risk leaving the shadows it returned to the chaos mage. However, there was one thing his companion was able to figure out. None of the guards, nor the leader, had any magical abilities, this more than anything unnerved Markus.

Finally, giving the female warrior a sly grin and a cocky smile Markus walked from the room. Once they were alone Markus looked towards his fellow mage. “This job feels too easy for its rank.” Markus said, his voice holding no emotion.

“We should tread carefully at the house…” although the statements might seem obvious, Markus had learned that many of his previous… partners, were not always the most observant and preferred to tread forward without care. Markus did not feel like losing his life, nor having to explain to the guild why he returned without his fellow mage. Glancing again at the other mage Markus felt confident that they had this handled. Having met only one other Darkness Mage Markus had made assumptions about this new one, should he be anything like Markus himself, or Aol, he will be fine.

Soon enough, the Mages arrived at the house. It was a warn down 3 story building with a ruined garden, and a rusted metal spike fence which surrounded the entire house. Sensing the area, Markus was able to determine that the barrier bordered the garden and ended at the fence. Glancing at his Raven, Markus nodded.

Suddenly, on his shoulder the creature shifted and transformed. Now on his shoulder was a small female in a raven colored dress, black hair cascaded down her back, and purple light wings extended from her back. The fairy had a crude smile on her face. “You always take me to the nicest places.” He voice was soft, almost like wind. She turned to the other mage. “Hello Mythal, I am Arinia.” Giggling, she rose from Markus shoulder and got to work examining the barrier. Markus rolled his eyes, as she returned and informed them that the barrier was meant to keep Hunters out, the mages themselves should be able to cross without issue.

To Hunt A Vampire - Part 1 [Job, Mythal] Empty Re: To Hunt A Vampire - Part 1 [Job, Mythal]

Post by Mythal Ragnos 29th November 2018, 11:37 am

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

Immediately Mythal could sense this man was different. It wasn't like a pressure from his magic or anything he seemed just as adept at keeping his magical signature low as Mythal was. But he smelled different than other people and yet awfully familiar. It was peculiar… but not enough for him to ask about it. Mythal held the belief that a person's business was their own unless it was absolutely needed. When he told Arcadia his story to earn her trust, that had been a moment of necessity. It wasn't too demanding for Markus to offer up any information, even if pressed.

So instead he brushed by it, offering a simple shrug. "On my good days,” he responded, showcasing a bit of his dry humor. It wasn't often he made quips but hey, he was feeling good. Markus had suggested they head out at night, his favorite time of day, so it had put him in a pleasant mood. He acknowledged the raven sitting on the other mage's shoulder, giving it a nod of respect. Animals were far easier to handle than humans after all.

It seemed that was all the pleasantries they were going to exchange, which was even better. Mythal wasn't a fan of small talk either and walking along in silence was his ideal setting. So as Markus turned and led the way out of town, Mythal fell in step behind him. They had quite the distance to go so hanging around and chatting would only delay them longer and make them that much later.

Much like Markus was doing, Mythal paid almost no head to the long trek ahead of them. To pass the time, he had taken out his iLac along with its instructions and had begun to play with it. He hadn't spent nearly as much time with it as he should to understand it, if only because it was frustratingly complicated. It wasn't long before he was shoving both the device and packet back into his back pockets and proceeded to zone out, lost in his own world. His thoughts kept his attention for the entire walk there, his daze only broken once they had reached the edge of the Cursed Lands.

He'd personally never been here but he'd heard the idle bar rumors about it. A treacherous expanse that offered more danger than safety, with monsters unlike anywhere else in the world. It was enough to curdle the bravest man's courage into fear and yet all it did was intrigue him. More so because the vague descriptions of the job seemed rather… mundane.

Before long they had reached the requestor's elegant mansion; an impressive compound built from the offerings of the land. Mythal remained quiet, even as they were led inside once they verified they were there for the job. The room they were brought to smelled of burning wood and old, expensive alcohol, the lavish meeting den set with a blistering fireplace and a desk on the opposing corner. A room to feel at home in while also conducting business. And behind the desk was a woman, the originator of the request apparently. She looked like she had braved these lands more than enough times to tame it.

Markus took charge with asking questions while Mythal scanned the room. His silent and non abrasive investigation went mostly unnoticed, though he had to take a moment to shake away the question of if he had any further inquiries. Markus was already asking all the right questions for him to understand what was required of them. They were to retrieve a lore tomb, that held descriptive details about vampires and their kin. It wasn't surprising to hear this kind of place had vampires; it felt like it was straight out of a storybook. Given some of the ancient writing on the other grimoires in the room, it seemed collecting such things was fairly common for this woman.

But her people had hit a barrier in trying to break into the house. All that physical experience and one magical barrier had locked her out? He remained silent still until Markus had agreed to take the job and removed himself from the room, the God Slayer in tow. It was only once they were alone that his fellow mage spoke again, speaking out his own observation that was similar to his own. Great minds, they say.

"Yeah… something ain't adding up,” Mythal said in agreement, crossing his arms. "I've been asked to handle more dangerous things than this as a D Ranked Mage. We better be on guard there… and here too,” he muttered the last part so only Markus could hear. No sense in taking any chances.

It was a much shorter trip to the house in question, the dilapidated structure looming in the dark. It rose from the ground like a frozen nightmare, with its peeling exterior and darkened interior. They stopped just before the gate in the fence and Markus’ raven suddenly shifted into a… fairy. He blinked at the suddenly changed woman, who was far more bubbly than her friend. "Pleasure,” he returned her greeting, watching her as the set off to investigate.

"Raven that can turn into a fairy. That's neat,” he commented, unable to help himself. He couldn't even stop the small smirk that tugged at his mouth. It was definitely unique.

Arinia returned, telling them that the barrier was safe for them to pass through, having only been runed to prevent Hunters from entering. "So keep out the hunters but let wizards in?” He mused out loud. This felt even more suspicious.

But what other choice did they have? Mythal took the lead this time, walking right through the gate. As nothing violent or painful happened to him when he passed through the barrier, he shrugged and continued his trek up to the front door. Once there, he took in the heavy oak barrier, with its rusted metal knocker and handle. He glanced back at Markus briefly before taking hold of the handle and gently pushing.

With a loud, whining squeal it opened inwards, presenting a dark and ominous hallway. Mythal paused for a moment, his eyes tracking back and forth like he was watching movement. He blinked it away and then snorted. "I'll cover you. You take point; your magic is stronger anyways,” he said, turning just enough to let Markus move by him. Once he had, Mythal followed him inside…

And the door slammed shut behind then.

    Black

Following the other mage through the barrier Markus glanced to both sides as they entered the threshold, he knew things would get interesting from here on out. Generally, when a creature or mage puts up a barrier it is because they wish to be left alone, the fact that this one was put up around an old Hunter compound, and specifically designed to ward from Hunters, meant this was a warning, a message, a trap. The chaos mage was certain he would stay ahead of whatever was to come.

As the two walked Markus paid special attention to the grass, the trees, the path. As far as he could tell, nothing had been touched in years, and no wind blew through the area, at least not presently. It was vexing to say the least. Had the woods really reclaimed this place Markus would expect to see signs of animals, and changes in the environment. Instead he saw dust, as if some unseen force had intentionally kept pristine and untouched, waiting for the proper victim.

Signing Markus focused back on the problem at hand, for all he knew he was being paranoid. He had been told that was a problem of his, always seeing the worst in a situation. Markus just thought it was logical. After all, if you always expected the worse then nothing would surprise you, and if the best were to happen, well then it made it all the more sweet. In this case however, the ‘best’ would be absolutely nothing, which unfortunately for Markus was boring. Meaning, the mage was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Markus nodded at the other mage’s remarks, it was certainly strange. Once they got to the house itself Markus gave it a quick look, it was old for sure, but in relatively good condition. The front door was closed, and he could tell it was the heavy kind of door. He could see there was once writing on the mantle, but he could not make it out. Whether that was because it was obscure, or just another language the chaos mage was not certain. Looking at the windows, Markus though he saw a flash of movement in the corner of his eye, so quick he was unsure if he had really seen it, or if his mind had made it up.

He spent a few seconds watching the window at which he thought he saw the movement, waiting, hoping, but alas he saw nothing. Only once he was sure did he respond to the other mage. “Be on your guard, I think I saw movement.” Then with a nod he stepped forward into the threshold of the large house, ready for whatever was to come.

He wasn’t even surprised when the door slammed shut behind them, he had come to expect the worst.

Looking about he realized they were in a large receptive room. A type of living area for initial guests. He could see a fireplace, currently cold, and chairs, wrapped in plastic. The place felt untouched, and looking on the ground he was certain the dust had been unmoved for years.

Taking a few steps forward Markus called upon his magic, his eyes flashing with a chaotic light giving him a rather large boost to his magical capabilities. With a grin Markus glanced back at the other mage, chaos still dancing in his eyes.

“Well, lets go meet the ghosts” Markus said in a humorous tone, no idea how right he was.

As Markus turned into the next room, he stopped suddenly, in front of him was a large stairwell with an ornate worn carpet, and a detailed carved railing. He could see intricate figures in detailed armor fighting large, and dangerous beasts of legends. He made out Dragons, and Werewolves, goblins, and Vampires, as well as a few others. However, as beautiful as that was it was not what drew his attention.

Sitting at the top of the stairs, an innocent grin upon its face, was a girl. Or more, a teenager. Markus at first wondered how, why, when, such a person would have gotten here, and how the had gotten up the stairs, and through the rooms without disturbing the dust.

It was that final though that made Markus realize what he was seeing. As he looked closer, he realized she was not… normal. Her form shimmered in the darkness, and her outline was hazy. A thin blur. Taking a deep breath Markus knew, that was the way they needed to go.

As if sensing Markus’ intentions, the creature let out a terrifying wail, and rushed towards them. With all of its speed however, it was not enough. Markus enhanced senses and slayer speed gave him the edge he needed, just as it got in range he dove to the side, avoiding its attack. The creature however did not stop, and instead disappeared into a wall behind him.

Looking over at the other mage Markus checked to see if he was okay. “I take it that is where we need to go.” The black clade chaos mage spoke softly, nodding towards the stairwell. “keep an eye out behind us, if she returns let me know.” He said before slowly working his way up the stairs.

At the second landing, just as his foot would touch the last step Markus heard it, strange ethereal whispers, angry, warning, deadly. Looking about, Markus saw the female once more, now floating behind them suspended in the air. Markus knew, they had to keep going up. There was just one more floor.

Rushing forward Markus attempted to dive under the creature continuing his way up the stairs. Unfortunately, this time he misjudged the distance, and the back of his shoulder clipped the ghosts hands. Markus felt suddenly cold, as if dipped into a pool of ice water. Being so in tuned to his magical nature he could feel as his reserves drop, and his eyes flickered. Markus realized, this would be the perfect time to have one of Fairy Tails many light mages with them, laughing at himself Markus stood, holding the spot where the creature had grazed him, he looked for the other mage.

After gaging whether he was okay, Markus spoke up. “do not let them touch you, they seem to drain our magical powers…” His voice was passive, but it rang of the danger. Looking around, Markus could not see the ghost, but he saw a large set of doors at the end of the hallway.

Walking forward, his hands cracking with dark energy he opened the doors finding himself within an emaculant study. Books towered to both sides, and a large desk sat in the center of the room. Upon which was an elder looking tome with strange writing in crimson letters. From here with his enhanced vision Markus could make out ‘Vampyr’. Nodding to the other mage, he stepped into the room. Just as another person, a man, stepped from the shadows behind the desk.

“Well well well, look what we have here. Two snacks come to visit. My My, you sure are brave!” The man spoke, his voice was soft, smooth, and silky. The creature was pale, almost albino white with a shock of black hair. It was dressed in fine clothes, and form here Markus could see the glint of its fangs.

Looking back, Markus spoke to the other mage. “You go for the book. I will hold off our… host.” Then his hands crackled with dark energy as Markus prepared.

“Oh, dinner and a show. How Marvelous.”

To Hunt A Vampire - Part 1 [Job, Mythal] Empty Re: To Hunt A Vampire - Part 1 [Job, Mythal]

Post by Mythal Ragnos 30th November 2018, 6:31 pm

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

What were the chances the house was haunted? Mythal honestly would have put money down on the 'yes' bet if he could. The house just reeked of supernatural power; not with a literal smell but the feeling one got just by being near it. Standing on its porch, right before the impressively large and heavy door, there was an uneasiness that clung to the air like an arid stench. It made one want to run back the other way, to escape from whatever terror lay within the dark expanse of the house. But Mythal, and by extension Markus, were not normal people. The dark wasn't scary; it was their fuel and source of power. The things that could lie in the dark; they were merely annoyances that were occupying where they generally felt at home.

The door slammed shut behind them, to the lack of surprise in both of them. Mythal glanced back at it, half expecting to see a ghostly figure poised in the corner, having pushed their exit shut and now was mocking them. There was nothing there at the moment yet that didn't mean there wasn't something else lying in their wait along their way forward. Markus had remarked right before he opened the door that he had seen something moving; whether it was a trick of the eyes or not was still up in the air at that point. The house itself certainly hadn't been lived in for quite some time; the fireplace was as cold as the stone brick that it was composed of, the only signs of fire in the ancient ash in its mouth. He couldn't tell if the chairs nearby were lavish or not, as they were completely covered up by a plastic covering. It was as if someone had planned on packing up and then... never completed the task. Perhaps due to an unfortunate accident?

The floor revealed it self in waves as they moved, the thick layer of dust upon the surface as heavy as snow. Mythal scanned the room, h is hands back to resting idly in his pockets. He was still on guard but he didn't want to give anything hiding out that idea. It would give him a better vantage if the hider thought it could surprise him. Markus turned enough to address him once more, offering an encouraging and witty snippet of dialogue that was amusing enough to make the God Slayer snort and smirk. Meet the ghosts; that was funny. Mythal was shaking his head when he nearly ran smack into Markus' back, having followed close behind him into the next room. His partner had frozen up almost instantly upon turning the corner and Mythal had nearly walked right into him. He did a bit of a foot shuffle to the side, placing himself at Markus' shoulder so he could look up at what had given him pause.

The stairwell was quite grandiose; with a colorful but aged rug running the length of the steps. The railing that curtained the stairs was exceptionally detailed; a battle running the length of the banister showcased creatures of different species in bloody combat. But as eye-catching as all of that was, it was far from the strangest sight before them. That honor went to the young woman sitting at the top of the steps, her ominous smile bearing down on them. She seemed perfectly corporeal at first, enough so that even Mythal wondered how she had gotten there and still left the rest of the house in such a state of disarray. But taking a moment to truly look her over, it was obvious that she was both there and not; her form was translucent around her outline and the barest hint of the stairs behind her could be seen in spots.

Meet the ghosts; not so funny now.

Her pleasantness disappeared only a moment later, her face contorting in anguish and a bone-chilling shriek exploded out from her mouth. She charged them, flying down the stairs in a swift downwards dive. Markus dove to one side and Mythal leapt to the other, splitting the gap and leaving the ghost an empty alley to swipe viciously at. But instead of attacking, she kept moving forward and hit the wall --well, phased through the wall was more like it. The house gave a low groan as she disappeared within its confines, agitated out of its state of rest. Mythal turned his gaze to the spot she had disappeared into, his magic already surging into his hands. If Markus took a moment to look, he would see the pitch-black veins rising off of Mythal's flesh on his hands. "I'd say so," he replied simply, his eyes never detaching from the wall. As Marks urged him to watch their back, he gave the man a curt nod and moved over to the center of the hall so he could keep close to the other wizard. Then they proceeded up the steps, with Mythal walking up backwards so they wouldn't find themselves surprised.

Everything was fine until they reached the second landing. Suddenly the air was alive again with angry noises; unearthly whispers that uttered fierce and violent things at them. Mythal glanced about, trying to locate the source while still remaining on guard. He saw her out of the corner of his eye and spun to face her, the specter hovering in the air above them. Markus ran forward, looking to slide beneath her legs and avoid its attack again. But it looked like it just clipped him, her ethereal hands passing through his shoulders. He didn't let out any loud noise of agony so it must not have caused any real pain. That made his life easier; that meant he could scare her back. The ground cracked as he pushed off of it, launching himself at the ghost.

But just as he was preparing to attack, Markus called out and told him not to touch it. Mythal only had a moment to twist his body away before her translucent hands were upon him too. He pushed his foot down as hard as he could, launching himself into the air far above her head. He spun through the air, doing several different twists and flips before he landed beside Markus, denting the rugged floor as he hit the ground in a crouch. As he spun his attention back, the ghost was gone once more, leaving them alone in the hallway save for the door set at the end. "You good?" he asked Markus, taking a moment to make sure he was fine. He was holding the 'injured' shoulder but a mere sapping of magic would be more of a nuisance than anything else he figured. Once he was sure Markus was good to move forward, he would followed the other wizard to the doors.

Markus practically kicked them open, revealing the well-packed study beyond. Books rose up like towers on each side, easily dwarfing the two in height. A pristine desk sat on the other end of the room, bearing a large and ancient looking tome. Mythal was rarely one to believe the treasure just sat there waiting to be picked up but there it was. As they entered the room, another figured slid out of the darkness behind the desk, clearly trying to be as intimidating as possible. He spoke to them with all the charm of a snake, his voice like a fine brandy set against his fish-like and immobilized flesh.

"I won't be long," he said before he dropped into the ground, his own shadow proving a temporary portal for him. He popped back up on the other side of the desk, putting it between him and the vampire. His hand snapped out and took ahold of the book, yanking it towards himself... only to find it stuck. As his brow furrowed, the ghost girl rose up out of the table, her hand fixed on the other side of the book. She snarled at him and clawed at him, causing Mythal to take a step back.

"Uh... nice ghost girl, good ghost girl," he attempted to soothe her, unsure what would get her to calm down. His words only seemed to coax her anger more and she launched herself forward at him, attempting to dive through him. He had just enough time to duck down and roll away, springing back up by the door. "Alright, package grabbed. Let's get," he said, gesturing towards the door.

Markus scared at the vampiric man in front of him, his eyes never deviating from the mans. They were studying, one another, planning their attacks, their defenses, their responses. Thinking back to his magic, his attacks the chaos mage slowly started to formulate a plan. He knew his magic would be useless if he were to attack, however that did not mean the mage could not defend. Markus grinned.

Suddenly his eyes became alight with chaotic energy, and for a spit second light vanished from the room. Markus had not moved, but he had changed quite drastically. He seemed to stand taller, his eyes glowed, his hair seemed and his skin seemed to have a strange sheen. Two large black wings had sprouted from his back, closed as to not cause issues and get into the way. Markus took on the visage of another being, one no longer mortal. A God… or at least, a Fallen God.

Markus watched as his partner disappeared into his own shadow, suddenly appearing next to the book. Markus took the second to distract their ‘host’ shooting his hands forward he commanded the shadows to grasp and hold the creature. Watching he saw a wave of dark energy  spring forth, commanding the shadows within a room to follow. Grasping hands clawed at the vampire, and wrapped themselves around the creature, immobilizing him.

“Oh my, controllers of Darkness? What sort of friends are the hunters making.” The vampire said with a chuckle, looking down at the shadows at his feet, and laughed. Suddenly the shadows burst  as the creature flexed his strength against the bonds. “Oops”, he said with a smile. At least the magic had its intended effect.

Markus saw when the other mage returned next to him, book in hand. The chaos mage reached out touching the other mage lightly on the shoulder. With a flash of energy, and a sudden drop in temperature the other mage would feel as if the world slowed, but in fact it would be him that was speeding up. Markus had transferred the other mage a boost to his speed and reactions.

With a nod at the mage he agreed, it was time for them to leave. However, in the corner of his eyes he saw the vampire gesturing. Suddenly a wave of darkness, very close to that of the attack Markus had used surged towards the two mages.

“I can do that too, little mage.” The man hissed.=, his hands still in the air, a clawed finger gesturing towards the two dark mages.

Markus only grinned, “But, can you do this?” the Chaos Mages hand reached up, meeting the darkness head on. With a strange sound in the air, one would watch as the darkness flowed off of Markus seeming to vanish into the Ethereum, the magic denied by the power of a god. Closing his eyes the chaos mage felt his connection to the primordial, and as his eyes opened he called upon the corrupted gods power within his being.

Holding his hands forward, suddenly an orb of translucent shadows appeared around the vampire creature, a circle of godlike power. Markus knew, he had temporarily banished the creature. At least, until it broke free of the shield.

Not even bothering to respond to the vampires hiss, nor watch as it slammed itself into the magic, Markus turned on his heel. With a sudden ripping sound in the air, a sound as if air was suddenly sucked into the void, Markus had disappeared entering a void of his own. Suddenly he appeared next to the other mage.

“Right behind you. That will not hold him for long.” Markus said still watching their vampiric host and keeping his eyes towards the walls, waiting for their ghost friend to appear. Markus paid little attention to the hallways, nor the stairs. Running slightly behind the other he kept an eye out, making sure nothing attempted to take the book.

Taking the stairs two at a time the chaos mage watched as the ghost materialized in front of the two mages. Now, it had no smile upon its face, but now instead had a dark frown, and partially closed eyes. Ducking under the creature Markus continued to run to the next stairway. Looking back, he watched as the creature disappeared under the floor. Probably headed to meet them as they made their escape.

Suddenly however, Markus heard a sound almost like breaking glass, and a yowl of triumph. It seems their vampiric friend had gotten free.

To Hunt A Vampire - Part 1 [Job, Mythal] Empty Re: To Hunt A Vampire - Part 1 [Job, Mythal]

Post by Mythal Ragnos 2nd December 2018, 6:24 pm

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

It was a brief and fleeting moment but as Mythal returned to the world through the shadows, he was completely caked in darkness. And when it returned, his partner had changed. He stared at the half-man, half-monster standing before their vampire host, newly reborn with a different demeanor. There was a presence there that wasn’t before; a pressure that pushed down on every entity in the room. But for Mythal, it was something he knew. It flashed him back to his past, reminded him of the pain and suffering that had come from his history. It felt like Faera was right there with him again, staring deep into his soul with her scornful gaze. How had Fairy Tail known?

How could they possibly have known to pair him, a Fallen God Slayer, with another of his kind?

All the questions that could come to his mind, came.  He wanted to stop everything right there and then, slam his feet on the metaphorical brakes and search for answers. There were very few times in his life that he wanted – no, needed – to know about someone’s life. But he couldn’t; the situation they were in was far too dangerous for him to get distracted. What with the vampire mocking them and his ghost pal trying to hinder them, there was far too much going on to get caught up on personal dilemmas. There was no guarantee that Markus would even want to share how he had come to gain this power as it was.

But that would have to be focused on later. For now he wrestled the book away from the ghostly female and dove back towards the door, giving Markus the freedom to open up his attacks. Mythal watched as the stronger wizard manipulated the shadows of the room, the shadowy tendrils reaching out to lock the vampire in place. Yet that didn’t seem to be enough; the man flexed his strength and the arms were ripped to shreds. The God Slayer’s attention was twisted away for a moment as Markus touched him on the shoulder, transferring power to him. Suddenly the world around them seemed to lost its footing; there was a delay there had hadn’t been before. But it wasn’t the world that had changed, merely them. The shadowy magic had made him faster, which was impressive given that the shadows of the house had already made him quicker than normal.

But before they could make their escape, the vampire had decided to return the favor. Energy flowed out of his hands and he reached out for them with shadows as well. But his partner countered it, dispersing the attack with a simple placement of his hand. And then he countered back, creating a shell of pure dark magic that tightly wound the vampire into its core and locked itself in place. Markus had given them a window and as he literally ripped through the air and appeared next to him, he stated his intent to follow.

Off they went, with Mythal leading the charge. The hallway and the stairs were a blur as they raced down, skipping steps to make better haste. But as they hit the second landing, the ghost reappeared in front of them and she was not pleased. While she had been manic before, there was anger within her spectral form now that just felt completely off. Mythal dipped and rolled around her, not stopping to look back even as the sound of the vampire freeing himself tore through the house.

Then the entire room shook, causing the steps to crack and malform from the sudden pressure. As they hit the final landing before the final staircase, a loud rumble of thunder rolled across the ceiling. As Mythal glanced up, he didn’t find the intricately carved wooden roof from before. No, now there was an ocean of blood, hanging upside down and undulating like the sea. As suddenly as it had appeared, droplets began to fall down from their liquid home and harden into needles of coagulated blood. They stabbed into Mythal’s back, causing him to grunt and growl in pain. But he never stopped running, determined to make it to the door with the book and his partner in tow.

Markus grunted as he looked up, of course there was blood magic. Why did vampires always use blood magic? Markus knew he had two options, deal with the magic waste more mana, and possibly time. Or accept the pain, and struggle through the magic.

The chaos mage chose the second option without question, and gritted his teeth as he felt the icy needles of blood stab into his shoulders and back. Markus kept a weather eye open as the he followed the other darkness mage, finally passing into the final landing.  This time Markus ignored the intricate patterns and detailed carvings, he avoided the carpet now slick and mushy with blood, and he ran full speed tailing the other mage, just feet behind him.

Markus saw the final room pass by in a blur, and heard the ghost wail behind them too slow to catch the fleeing mages. As the two passed the threshold of the front entrance and found there way into the garden Markus finally turned about seeing the vampire rushing behind them, far faster than the two mages. The chaos mage knew he had to do something…

Holding out his hand Markus summoned an orb of back energy and released it into the room. With a ‘flash’ and a bang. All light was ripped from the room and sucked into the void. All air vanished for a split second, and Markus heard the vampire cry out in pain suddenly thrusted into darkness, not just dim light but true lack of all light. Markus’ Nightbang grenade having done its job.

Suddenly the two mages passed through the threshold of the garden, and passed the barrier. Their task was completed, but Markus did not stop until the two were well away from the cottage. All that was left was to return the book, and finish the job.
