Monster Management [with Yuvon and Charlotte] Empty Monster Management [with Yuvon and Charlotte]

After their last attempt at a day out at a cafe together, Poko wanted to spend some time with her guild mates again. Hopefully this time they would not be interrupted by giant, mutant space squid that shot lasers from their tentacles. The blonde had tried to invite both Mizumi and Yuvon, however she had been unable to locate the former. She assumed the blue haired mage must have been out on either a job or personal business, but Poko wasn't going to let that stop her from enjoying a few sweets now that she had been thinking about them, craving them. Luckily she had managed to track down the masked bookworm, not like it was hard, she had been carefully studying his habits for a while now. While some may call it stalking, she preferred to think of it as research, besides if she didn't know when he'd be back from Apocrypha how was she ever meant to speak to him? After cornering him during one his usual meal times at the guild hall she had managed to ask him out for the day, to enjoy the sunshine and a few baked goods at one of her favourite bakeries in Peace Village.

The duo now found themselves on the outskirts of the village, with Poko leading the way to the small cafe, filled to the brim with sweet and savory food, most of which she had already tried on her frequent visits through the village. She had become quite the regular customer, to the point the owner even made her special treats to try, using her as a sort of trial to see if they should make them for the rest of their customers, a role the young girl took pride in. Just thinking about what the baker may have planned for her this time got her excited, she wanted to run there immediately. Had she been alone today, she no doubt would have raced through the wind to do just that, but she had her friend with her, therefore she would have to be much more patient. A thought that made her stomach growl just loud enough that Yuvon could probably hear it, causing a small blush of embarrassment from the blonde girl, her eyes a swirl of multiple colours, pink, purple and yellow. Lately she had found that she hadn't been forcing herself to remain calm, instead she'd grown comfortable enough to just let her eyes do as they wish, not caring as much if people found it odd.

While she walked side by side with the tall man she called one of her closest friends she found herself unable to come up with a conversation topic. Strange, normally they discussed their recent readings and such, but perhaps silence wasn't that bad, besides it wasn't like it was an awkward silence, it was a comfortable one. The kind shared between two people that somewhat understood each other without the need for words, a bond she was quite proud to share with her favourite masked man. Poko looked down at herself, she'd decided to try something a little different from her normal shorts and shirt, instead she had chosen to wear a simple long-sleeved black dress that clung to her figure and stopped just before her knees. She had then worn long, black, knee-length socks with some matching flats. She had then fastened her blonde locks into two low pigtails that flowed over her shoulders with a couple of blue butterfly clips. It was an outfit that Kanojo had recently created for her, the spider queen from Quill's Paradise. This was the first time she had worn something of this kind, most of her other dresses were much more free flowing and she found it a little unusual that she couldn't move as freely. Yes, she would certainly never wear anything of this sort should she be expecting combat, but it's not like that mattered today, for she was simply going out to enjoy a few treats with Yuvon.

Unfortunately for her things would take quite the turn, something she had not been quite expecting at all. As the two made their way through the streets, almost about to reach their desired destination, Poko sensed something, a disturbance in the magical energy and air close by, something was certainly not right. "Do you feel that?" Poko queried, glancing briefly at Yuvon before naturally moving down a side street, towards where she felt the shift in energy. As she came out the other end her eyes widened there was a huge summoning circle the likes of which she had never seen in her life, not even in any of the books she had researched. Not only that there were hundreds of creatures swarming out of it. Her eyes changed to a silvery blue colour as she blinked, worry and fear filling her for not only herself but the villagers, she needed to do something quickly. She scanned her eyes over the creatures, after getting a better look at them they appeared to be incredibly large dog-sized rats. Only their size wasn't the only strange thing, their fur seemed to be radiating some sort of toxic chemicals.

Poko heard a scream as she noticed a small child about to be attacked by one and without a second thought dashed through the air towards the child, ignoring the fact that her dress rode up her legs, she could fix her appearance up later, this was not a time for modesty. Without hesitation she summoned the nearby air into her right hand, condensing it into a magical sword made of pure wind that she used to slice at the oversized rat, causing it to squeal out in pain as she removed its head. Poko wasn't one for letting creatures suffer, even ones that others would have deemed evil. She reached the young child who had tears streaming down their face. The short blonde picked up the child, cradling them within her arms, her sword still in hand as she carefully made sure not to accidentally harm the small human. Her bluish eyes searched for a safe haven to leave the child, while she knew Yuvon was a capable mage, there was no way he could handle so many enemies at once all by himself. Even just the two of them might find the task impossible.

Peace Village. Yes! Some slacking was exactly what Yuvon needed today - it had been a while since the squid event, but he just planned to crash and do easy things with ease in the name of relaxation and enjoyment. This feeling was priceless to him, especially if he shared it with some company. Despite having a ferocious guild, it appeared to just be the two of them today - him and Poko. It was funny how she managed to track him down by stalking behind stacks of books, pillars, doors, trash cans, torches and statues whilst he sated his curiosity by sticking his head into the various tomes that the guild stored.

There was a very good book that he had gotten his hands on - it was called Metal Manifesto, a book dealing with the way to establish a government and state based on non-magical structure. It screamed Pergrande, supposedly the only country that totally prohibited magic in all its forms. Having visited Pergrande once, he was previously frustrated by the prohibition as he couldn’t even use his Memory-Make inside the walls. They even forced him to wear something on his foot, some kind of metallic foot ring leaking a certain fluid that disrupted his magic. They didn’t see it as magic, but merely as ‘anti-magic’, and they intended to put that on any tourist that had affinities to the magic world. To put it shortly, his journey to Pergrande was limited in terms of what he could remember. Although he met his first love there… okay, that was even more frustrating and heartbreaking. He didn’t want to remember that witch anymore, nor did he want to remember the bloody trials that he witnessed there… but… the book that he read was written by a wizard named Nilat S. who had lived in Pergrande since he was pushed out between his mother’s legs. Having moved out and become a mage, Yuvon found it fascinating how people from different parts of the world could write stuff objectively about such manifestations such as a whole government system. One would think that most books were written subjectively - although that was commonly despised - but Nilat S. inspired Yuvon to seek out objective subjects in the blessed pages. Apocrypha could use some fresh, young knowledge, and so could his brain.

During his thoughts - oh, his many, many, many thoughts that kept drowning his brain in a sea of words, terms, images and phantoms - he couldn’t help but focus his vision towards a certain plant in the library. A certain someone was stalking from behind that plant like a curious child. He couldn’t help but laugh silently, it was a little cute to see. Perhaps she wanted to know something… he wouldn’t know for sure until he asked her, but the look on her face revealed her effort in the stalk. He decided to play along and step up and walk around, until he was caught at a corner with a bun in his hand. There, Poko asked him out for a walk under the happy sun and get some baked sweets. He accepted the invitation instantly; he was itching for some fresh air and a free day outside. Loyalty, activity, his duties could wait for the day, couldn’t they?

She had a friend who worked at a bakery in Peace Village, and upon hearing the name, Yuvon cackled a little. Peace Village sounded like a peaceful village, but it smelled… it smelled of future trouble. The mere name was teasing all thieves and bandits to cause havoc at the town - that would make it suitable for the two of them to visit the town. As they headed out to the village, Yuvon too thought of Mizumi’s whereabouts. Perhaps she was hunting spicy animals for dinner tonight. He still tasted the tea that she made for them before the squids attacked. His head was thinking and thinking, and it kept his so silent - like a raven, he looked forward and thought out beyond the first, second and third walls of existence. He didn’t know if Poko found it annoying, maybe she wanted him to start a conversation. If thinking about it that way, it was sort of weird but familiar. The sweet silence between comrades was worth remembering too. Even silence filled a lot.

He still wore those robes that he took so much pride in. The royal robes upgraded by Apocrypha with golden garments on his shoulders, arm and waist, along with long leggings and his signature kraken mask. Tentacles. Poko, on the other hand, was wearing something different, and he felt like complimenting the sweet dress that she was trying out. He… didn’t take other robes with him from his country, but he loved these robes enough to wash them daily and wear them regularly. Maybe he should try some new outfits, but his thoughts paused at Poko’s comment. “Yes…” he replied quickly. A huge magic circle had spawned in Peace Village, and Yuvon’s blood sense began tinkling. He could also smell chemicals in the air… a combination of cobber sulfide and sodium hydroxide.

Poko went to help a little child who was assaulted by one of the rat-like beasts. Yuvon followed troop and spawned tentacles everywhere to keep other rats at a distance or take them down where they stood. It was ripping him from mana, but the child needed to be safe at all costs. “The watchtower over there, it’s surrounded by a magic barrier,” Yuvon commented, “Some other wizards must’ve started their defense. Let’s take the kid there.”

    The White Witch

Running was most definitely not a trait that Charlotte had any pride it whatsoever. Even after a mild sprint she would already start losing her breath, unable to continue on any further without at least few seconds long rest. And this would stack immensely, one atop the other until she could not even move her feet. Today, however, seemed to be different. Well, of course it was. Today was very special for Charlotte, the young White Witch. After all, it might have been the very last day of her life! Thinking of it like that sounded a bit too grim, did it not?

But such matters were not of her concern at the moment. Whether today would be truly the last day of her self at this very moment or not, she would think about once her duty was fulfilled. First, she was required to arrive at Peace Village, now finally visible in the distance. Seth’s voice was guiding her there, while the White magic ensured that she could continue running without stopping. Non-stop healing her own self while her ethernano supply recovered faster than it could be consumed, some people would probably report seeing a glowing girl sprinting toward a certain village today.

She just had to, if she wanted to save lives. The final sprint… Peace Village and then an arena far, far away. But here, the first stop would be a deadly one. From the omniscient being, Seth, the girl already knew what will happen in mere minutes. The beasts attacking this place without any mercy. So she had to arrive and help protect the innocent ones. Even though she was sick of battle, sick of failing. It just had to be done, at least for the rest of today. Today and today alone, that was the final road.

Finally, she would find herself in front of the entrance to the village. All… seemed normal. People walking around, chatting and playing with one another. No sign of what was to come. Finally able to catch her breath, the young girl would press her back against the nearest home, the wooden wall being a support for her. If she could forget her manners, she would probably even slide onto the ground and stay there for a while. She just ran here all the way from Rose Garden, there was no surprise that she was like this despite recovering her stamina the entire way through magic.

Looking up at the skies above, she could only wonder. Will she be able to properly help here? If even one of the enemies were to get to her, it would be the end. But Seth did send her here on purpose. So then, everything would turn out alright… right? All these questions were swirling around in her head, but the almighty puppeteer did not answer any of them. Their story was in its final form now, and they would not spoil any of it to the puppet that was playing the role of a heroine.

And now, she would feel the magical energy in the air. The circles slowly forming in the skies. The chaos that quickly started spreading through this place. Normally, people would be slaughtered indiscriminately by the beasts. The same way some were during the war against an army of monsters. The Magic Council wound send many mages to the front lines, Charlotte is one of them. And she did her very best, healing everyone along the way. Sometimes, even that was not enough, however. Many fell victim to the war and perished. It never ended. And it probably never will end, either.

Narrowing her posture, Charlotte would look at the village in chaos, clutching her hand. The wind slowly picked up, playing with her short black skirt and pure white sweater, an outfit that was quite similar to a school uniform worn by this young girl. She didn’t even get the chance to change her attire when she left Rose Garden. But that was fine, it hardly mattered at all. The only piece of equipment she needed was materialized in her right hand, a long staff made out of a single tree branch. An ivory-white one, tiny balls of blue light adorning its top.

The Witchtree branch always served the White Witch well. Rising it well above her head, she would pray, unleashing her magical energy once more. The blessing and curse of white and black. And so, a wave of only the purest of energy washed over the entirety of Peace Village. Something that affected everyone inside, humans and beasts alike. A shield that protected their lives. From this moment forth, nothing could actually die, not as long as Charlotte herself was still breathing. This was the guardian’s will, a power of a mage who knew not how to attack at all.

As if made out of stone, the hand she held high with the staff then fell, resting like a line against her body. She still did not have a whole lot of energy, did she? But at least… this way, everyone would be safe. With the guardian’s will, even those who would be lethally injured will survive, merely losing their consciousness. Because even the attackers deserved to be judged fairly, get a second chance at living… right? The girl wanted to believe that. But lately, these beliefs of hers seemed to be shaken to their very cores.

Clutching the staff in both of her hands now, she walked forward into the village, looking around at people running amok, some of the monsters descending from the heavens. Would there be an end to them if they continued fighting? Perhaps. Perhaps not. She knew not the answer, but her puppeteer did. And yet, they still remained silent about the matter. And so, the doll could only do what she always did best. Spotting two mages in the distance, she would pull out a card and run toward them, stopping only a bit of distance as she tossed this card into the air, letting it dissolve into magic.

Poko and Yuvon, they were strangers to the White Witch. But they were fighting the evil, so it was the girl’s duty to aid them. With the card in play, those two would have another aura surround them, a refreshing one. An aura that would slowly replenish their magical supply over time, drawing from the air and earth around them. That was the sort of power Charlotte had. No ability to attack, or even really defend herself. But to heal and aid others who were fighting in her stead. This was her duty and today, she wished to fulfill it.

OOC: I apologize for the delay and a confusing post. I wish to end the plot my character has in this and another thread, but it's just really messy to write down for others.
