OOC: Sorry it took so long, and it sucks lol.

This wasn't looking too good, just how many goons did this guy have crawling all over the place anyway? This was just a pain, one of them was lost, the other was focused on other tasks and Mei wasn't too focused herself, all of this seemed off, sure the relic's were important, but why was it that everything just seemed so, reinforced, he was probably after something more than just the treasure, like all good villains were. Perhaps Mei would be able to find out, but for now there was another problem. Dmitry and her were advancing down a hallway trying to find their lost comrade, when more of the buggers appeared from around the corner, just wonderful how many more of them were here to just try and stall? Still they seemed kind of strong, but really they were probably just fodder for the big guy, yet they thought they would all be rich. it was pretty sad, but Mei didn't feel too bad about it after all these guy's did choose this kind of life, or so Mei hoped. Maybe she was just cruel, but she didn't mind killing these guy's off if it meant something doing a bit of a bad in the world was gone, still now there was a little pack of them staring towards her, so she needed to get prepared to hit them with everything she had, and to completely destroy them all in half a second.

That is if she had been paying attention and didn't get trapped in a crystal prison by this jerk. The little prison embalming Mei, she sighed in her mind, and wondered how she was so stupid as to not notice him casting a spell, perhaps she just needed to get her mind in the game and stop wondering about things. Well now she was stuck in here and had to get out somehow, probably just bash it open, but while she was doing that, Dmitry would probably have the fight the lot of them, since Mei had just become slightly useless for this small fight.

Dmitry sighed as his partner was trapped in her prison of crystal, leaving him to fight alone. Not that that was a problem; he was used to that anyway. So thought the gray-haired mage as he held out his hand, preparing to summon one of his most powerful spirits and by far the largest. Thankfully, there was a bit more room in this part of the ruins. Closing his eyes, he focused on the bond he shared with the beast.

"I invoke the World Serpent:..." Dmitry opened his eyes, revealing the usual glow his magic brought on. "Jormangand!" The enormous smokey snake rushed forth from thin air and barreled through the five men guarding what appeared to be a higher ranking member of the group. As they scattered, the serpent slapped the two on it's right side into the adjacent wall with it's tail, before sinking it's fangs into one poor sod and smacking aside the men beside him, finally ending with a quick pass to the opposite wall. As this was going on, it seemed the one in the back, seemingly the stronger of the lot, began casting what appeared to be some form of crystal based magic. Of course, Dmitry was expecting the man to react, quickly teleporting behind him with Dark Fang held in his teeth by it's cursed blade.

When the spell forged a large, two-handed sword held behind him in a position for a horizontal swing, Dmitry dashed forward and leaped onto the blade and forced it to the ground before turning on that foot and kicking the crystal mage in the right side of his jaw. As the blade slid against the ground beneath him, the summoner hopped off the blade and landed on all fours. He then pulled the knife from his teeth and jumped back off of his hands before manifesting the malevolence demonstrated by the man in front of him. It was then that he heard this man utter something that made his eyes widen.

    "Crystal make..."

Dmitry let the darkness of the blade loose against his target, hoping to hit him before the spell was cast. "Fortress!" The enemy mage shouted as he put his hand to the ground, causing curved wall of rough crystal to appear in front of him. As the wave of darkness crashed against the barrier, Jormangand, now finished with his prey, turned and lunged for the crystal make mage. The one who forged the wall noticed this, and turned just in time to not only avoid the attack, but carve the snake open from mouth to tail, dispersing his physical form entirely.

Post by Azurius Tade 15th October 2015, 12:17 am

"Where the hell'd Johnny go!?" a disembodied voice called out from around the terribly lit passage. "I dunno, dumb ass went and stormed off on his own again." another voice said. "Well, go fuckin' get em!" a third called. Kateri could tell from the voices, one was a moron, the other was spineless, and the last one was some sort of overseer for them. The first two didn't acknowledge him with some sort of honorific like 'sir' or something along those lines, so it was fair to say the third voice wasn't the big bad asshole her group was looking for. 'Three of em... which one should be first...' Kateri thought to herself. 'It'd be a problem if the other two interrupted a possible fight with the last one.' she thought, beginning a plan to take them out by means of using stealth over fire power. 'But if the third one were to find me while I was taking one of the others out, he could possible call for more...' she added to her initial thought, re-tracking her mind to make a plan for the third. Kateri formed a bit of ice in her hand, condensing it to be as shiny and smooth as possible and used to as a mirror to check the corner. She saw two guys, not particularly scary looking, and one who was a bit... bigger. 'Kill the tiny ones first, save the big one last.' Kateri said to herself, finalizing her plan. "Hey, you seen that?" one of them called, pointing at Kateri's make shift mirror. She quickly dropped it as a crystal spike flew out of the wall, impaling where Kateri was. The larger of the three men walked around the corner, checking if her nailed her. The pillar moved back into the wall, revealing an empty black cloak attached to it. The man smelled it and said "Got a chick on the loose. You two split up, first one to find her calls the others." with an authoritative voice and began walking away. One of the smaller guys who used nothing but knives and tiny guns walked in the other direction while one remained still, trying to decide which way to go. Overhead, Kateri was watching the other two for once thankful that her hair got tangled on her ankles just as she'd jumped to the ceiling and grabbed one of the roots protruding from it. 'Common you bastards... get out of range.' she thought while hoping the other two would get out of earshot, and the man below her would stay as still as possible.

((OOC[TAK]: I'm taking that other Strong enemy. Plan's for her to stay separated till the last moment... I prefer to drag a story out, constant killing back to back is boring for me since there's not much story in that... just kicking asses while magically moving forward.))

OOC: Yeah Dmitry told me about what were you planning to do, don't worry about it, I'm normally the same way, just want to punch something IRL right now.

"How did this happen, i'm smarter than this!"

Mei thought as she was trapped in the crystal, frozen in time, it could have been worse, Dmitry from what she could see was fighting against the guy's and doing quite well except for the crystal bastard who trapped her within this little prison. Oh well, again it could have been worse, she could have been trapped within it, and then have it explode on her...

And then it exploded on her.

That really hurt, like really, really hurt, and frankly Mei hadn't felt that kind of pain in a long time, a very long time. So naturally she would let out a scream right? Wrong, she didn't let out a scream, instead her body was a strange mix up of flesh and magma, there were some noticeable wounds, but the magma would start to cover them up, and repair them in quick succession. Dmitry had taken care of all the more common kinds of mercenaries that this guy had under his command, but even if he hadn't, Mei would have only focused on one target, the one who had trapped her in said prison. it wasn't a good sight to really look at, and honestly she didn't even notice Dmitry really attacking him, instead she simply glared at her target and took off towards him in a mad dash.

The mage turning to intercept her as she approached the man witnessed her little regeneration going on and tried to throw up another barrier facing towards her, as currently his only defense was in the wrong direction, but it was a little bit too late, she had already caught up to him. The man still tried to throw out a spell, but he found it hard to say its name when her hand was currently upon his throat.

    'Cry--"

She clamped down upon it hard, only barely containing her boiling temperature within her body.

"Cry what? Cry some more, well I suppose you should cry, cry for penance. You dared to fly too close to the sun, and now it's time for me to burn your little wings. Maybe in the afterlife you will learn the error of attacking a god."

Mei had magma start to melt around her throat and cover his body as she looked into his eyes, with her own empty and cruel eyes. It might have been a horrifying sight to one who didn't know what she meant by it, she didn't really have a god complex personality wise, but more... she really was one. It wasn't her imagination or insanity, it was just the truth. Regardless he died into a puddle of nothing, not even his head would remain as she made sure to melt that too. Turning towards Dmitry, Mei gave him a dead serious stare.

"I'm done going easy, let's get what we came for and just get out, I grow agitated at this place."

Post by Benjamin 16th October 2015, 1:35 am

Dmitry was about to start climbing the enormous wall that his opponent had made until it slowly disappeared, breaking down into ether-nano particles that were carried off on the wind. After that, a wretched stench began to permeate the place and the gray-hair just caught a glimpse of the treasure hunter turning into a puddle of unwanted person, accounting for the previously mentioned odor. "Well, more'n one way to skin a cat..." He mumbled to himself, before noticing on the ground next the spot where the wall used to be. Dmitry walked over to the spot and picked up what appeared to be a portion of a satchel or backpack. It contained some odds and ends, but more importantly, there was a rolled up piece of paper. Upon unrolling it, Dmitry could see that it was some form of map, most likely the one that was allowing these guy's to navigate the ruins. For the first time since this job began, Dmitry's face lit up as he finally had a way to get to the vault they were searching for.

"Well, good news is that we have a way to get to this joint," he said to the goddess, not giving much attention to the man-puddle. "Bad news, it don't say nothin' 'bout how to get in when we get there. Guessing the big boss didn't trust any-o-his goons with that particular secret." The mage looked about the ground beneath him, focusing on the spiritual feedback he was getting. He could definitely tell that there were several people moving about down in those tunnels and he could also feel the distinct presence that Kateri kept within her, letting him know that she was still moving. Hopefully there weren't too many directions to go in down there; the last thing he needed was for her to get lost. Dmitry held up the map to his other partner as he waited for her to quite literally cool down.

"I'm pretty sure it's got the tunnels mapped out too, but to be honest, I'm shit with maps."

Kateri saw as the two had finally got away, and her initial target was still unsuspectingly standing in place. She let got of the roots that kept her up, he feet staying placed in the roots holding onto them causing the stealthy young woman to swing downwards. She quickly wrapped her arm around the man's neck and began pulling up, his own weight providing the force to keep his throat closed shut. As a result, he was unable to squeal for help. Once he stopped moving, Kateri slipped her feet from the roots, falling to the ground and landing on her rear end. 'That wouldda been so much cooler if I'd landed that...' she thought while rubbing her throbbing backside. 'At least the others were here to see it...' she added, providing herself a small bit of relief. She turned in the direction that the weaker of the two headed, brandishing her boot knife in one hand, and her revolver in the other. The general idea was to only use her gun if she absolutely had to. 'Shadow, what's going on up there?' she asked while moving forwards at a slowed pace. 'I am unsure master, your gun is quite heavy.' Kateri's wyvern responded. 'Why not just... grow...' she said. 'Oh... sorry master I forgot.' he responded, sounding embarrassed for some reason. It was at that moment Shadow used his growth ability. By controlling the power he put into it, Shadow shifted from being 1 foot, 7 inches to being a 20 foot long creature that was 1.5 feet thick. He grabbed the rifle in his mouth and began using the claws on his wings to pull himself along the hallway's floor.

Meanwhile, Kateri had caught up to her target. She literally caught him with his pants down, facing a wall as the color of the wall was darkened from the liquid pouring onto it. Kateri slowly crept up behind him, making sure non of her gear clanked as she got withing striking range. The man was unsuspecting as the blade swiftly reach the front of his neck, and then was pulled across. His body slumped over, the urine continued falling to the floor causing Kateri to take a few steps back so it wouldn't get on her boots. After taking care of the other pain in the ass, she would move on to taking care of their stronger friend.

Wait Mei missed a spot, the guy had a bag? On one hand, she should be thankful that she did miss it as the bag had something that was helpful, but, on the other hand, she now felt... sloppy. It wasn't a clean kill then, perhaps she would have to brush up on her methods alone, or just resolve herself to her pathetic situation right now though it really made her feel incredibly... useless. Sure she could kill all of them just fine, but it was all, pointless without any real bite or influence. Oh well her musing wouldn't last for too long as Dmitry stated how he was terrible with maps. Mei would have to help him out a bit then, or at least locate this treasure place. Honestly Mei wished to leave as soon as possible, if that gold guy was still here and they could avoid a fight, it would be for the best.

"Hopefully, we will be able to meet up with Katerii in the treasure room, it's just a short ways from here, and don't worry I can just carry the treasure out with me, if you don't mind being left behind that is. I know you can handle yourself and most of them should be defeated handily by now."

Pulling up the map, Mei decided to try and lead the way, motioning for Dmitry to follow her, Mei would try and head straight towards the room, and hopefully wouldn't encounter any more of the enemy within the vicinity, but then again it was going to be the final room, so of course she would end up encountering enemies.

"Hey, you can have all the treasure you want," Dmitry said with a chuckle. "I'm here for something else entirely, so I'll gladly give you my share if it gets us there faster." After she took the map, he followed after her, keeping his wits about him as he went. For a time, he didn't sense any tremors in the direction he and Mei were headed, causing him to relax a bit.

'Taking someone else's lead, are we boy?' Hati chimed, somewhat surprised at Dmitry's actions.

'I wasn't kidding about that whole map issue..' That wasn't a joke either. Due to his connection with nature and his experience navigating in the wild, Dmitry had and excellent sense of direction. This, however, left him with two shortcomings: that he was hopelessly lost in most cities, aside from Hargeon, and that he had no knowledge of how to use a map, having never had to in the first place. All the same, it seemed his partner new what she was doing and he trusted Kateri to handle herself. She was tough as nails after all.

Of course, with this calm, his mind drifted back to that girl with the rabbit ears. Dmitry wondered what she might be doing at this moment and how she was handling things, hopeful that she was coping well. He couldn't allow himself to doubt her resolve; he learned that in the Spooky Forest during the incident with that demon. Still, he also knew how hard it could be, the feeling of losing something that was probably important. That mistake still haunted him and he couldn't stand the thought of her going through that, the very idea filling him with a feeling he was quite unaccustomed to. Hopefully, he could find something in this place that could help her find answers and fix all this.

Post by Azurius Tade 23rd October 2015, 1:49 am

Upon ending the life of the pissy man, Kateri felt a chill down her spine as well as her body instinctively forcing itself aside, her expression full of shock as she'd noticed a massive crystal pillar had slammed into the spot she was previously standing. She smirked while saying "Pretty smart of you to set a trap using your underlings as bait..." with a plain voice, not really feeling bad for the men but not liking the idea of shit canning your friends for no reason, or at least no good reason. "Oh-ho, now that's just saddenin' was hopin' yah'd be dead on 'at hit." a voice called from around the corner. It sounded a bit rough, raspy, and had it not been for those two it would sound like some normal guy... you know like an office worker or someone who isn't threatening. "Yeah... sorry bud, I don't die that fast, or easily." she replied. The figure decided to go ahead and show itself, walking into the hall way. It was a pretty big guy, about six-six, with broad shoulders and wearing a very thick, black trench coat. His arms weren't in the sleeves, it was just draped over him. His had was an oldschool fedora, and Kateri could see the barrel of what she figured was a Tommy with a homemade long barrel. She could also see it wasn't that close to his leg, meaning it had a drum barrel, the only thing that would keep the gun from laying flat against his thigh as it should have. "I see you fancy the Tommy." she said smiling, very rarely finding other gun users. "Yeh, looks pretty and kills 'em quick." he replied giving a wide grin and using his teeth to keep his cigar in place. Kateri could feel the malice in him, but needed to confirm it for herself. "What's your plans for the loot, if you don't mind the question." she said with a slightly tense voice, the air was getting thick from the two gunslinger/mage's standoff. "Was gonna keep em, kill off 'at asswag'n Goldenshine n' take the loot. Use it to wipe out a few o' dem guilds, includin' yours." he said with a cocky smile. Kateri pulled the string on her cloak, allowing the black item to fall to the ground. A cold wind blasted throughout the entire labyrinth they were in, conveying she wasn't gonna hold back. "Ya shouldn't have said that bud..." she said as the demonic scar on her right cheek glowed bright cyan, looking like the surface of an ice sculpture. Her glacial blue eyes turned pure white, along with her hair which normally only changed color when exposed to natural light. She felt her magic power getting more restless, signaling that it was night time already, reminding her of how she'd lost track of time in this maze of a hellhole. Her allies would be unable to find Kateri by following the near-frigid air to her as it was filling the entirety of the ancient ruins, and would lead them to every nook and cranny between them and the ice mage, but it would be a way for them to know she was still very much alive.

And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri) - Page 2 Empty Re: And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri)

Post by Benjamin 15th November 2015, 1:15 am

Dmitry was just about to snap himself back to the task at hand, when a sudden burst of cold air filled the room, as well as the entire complex. The medium grinned as he realized what that was and what it meant. Unfortunately, it didn't help him find her, but it did assure him that Kateri was very much alive. Which was good considering he couldn't exactly smack a corpse up side the head. Well, he could, but that wouldn't exactly accomplish all that much. Still, Dmitry still had to focus on the task of finding her and the treasure room, all while the place was still filled with a multitude of goons. As he followed after Mei, these thoughts still in his head, a pebble struck him in the head, eliciting a bit of a jump from the mage.

As Dmitry looked up, the ceiling gave way and brought down an enormous pile of stone rubble on top of both him, missing Mei by a foot and crushing him where he stood. As the debris settled and the cause stepped out to inspect his work, one could see blood flowing out of the cracks in between the rocks.

Before the pebble that struck his head even hit the ground, Dmitry disappeared and reappeared several feet behind where he was last standing, avoiding the rubble that threatened to pulverize him. Out from the cloud of dust stepped what, at first glance, appeared no different from any normal man. However, in this place, Dmitry could tell full well that this was no weakling. Far from it, this could've very well been the strongest opponent he had ever faced. The mage knelt down and prepare to start off at a dash, his hand resting on the knife in his boot. This would likely get rough very quickly...

Post by Azurius Tade 17th November 2015, 7:21 pm

The large man began backing up while shielding his eyes, trying to prevent them from freezing over. The walls were beginning to become ice, the floor was a skating rink, and the ceiling was practically a mirror in seconds. The man motioned his free hand towards the Lamia Scale mage, but Kateri was a sniper. She was accustomed to picking out the smallest of details, so when the bits of snow mixed in with her winds began to shift around something, Kateri knew that she needed to move. She quickly jumped to the side, rolling and then getting back on her feet. She placed her hand out, causing a massive storm of ice shards to mix with the snow in the room, buffering the man but dealing little damage as his coat was very thick. However, it did serve a purpose to coating him in large amounts of ice as the attack continued. He began moving slower, and slower, but not slow enough to where he was unable to use his magic. A set of crystal pillars flew out from under Kateri, catching her off guard and slashing her leg as she tried to avoid it. The ice in the air cause the wound to freeze over immediately, preventing blood loss, and numbing out the pain. Another blast of icy winds went off as Kateri placed the other hand out, sweeping it across and creating a cross-wind that impacted the crystal user. He began to freeze over faster, trying his hardest to shake off the ice, or break it with brute force. While this was simple with only one of Kateri's arctic attacks, it was mostly futile when multiples were stacked like this. The man began backing up, hoping if he got far enough away the wind wouldn't be so intense; but the room was small and before he knew it his back was against a wall. Kateri walked up to him, maintaining her state of anger and pressed her hand against the wall a few feet away from the man. A pillar of ice shot out, impaling him in the heart, and extending halfway across the room. The blood oozed out, coating the ice in a shiny crimson, but froze over immediately. The man's corpse turned to ice, and was looted for a small map that was almost at its breaking point. Kateri ceased her cold winds, and turned in the direction the vault was. "So they're back there... I'll scout ahead." she said under her breath, memorizing the map by heart before dropping it. The map shattered upon hitting the frozen, snow covered ground.

And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri) - Page 2 Empty Re: And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri)

Post by Benjamin 21st November 2015, 12:18 am

"I invoke the Swift Hawk:..." said Dmitry as his opponent raised a hand to cast a spell. "...Vedfolnir!" As the spirit bird flew off into the air, Dmitry took off and began to flank what he assumed to be a distracted Harper Goldenshine. Soon, Vedfolnir was dodging blade after blade of crystal, before turning to strike at the mage who had done so much to hit the bird. Of course, Harper took the opportunity to create a crystal sword and cut the bird in two, giving Dmitry what seemed to be an opening. The medium closed in from behind the crystal-make mage, knife gripped in hand and attempted to stab the man through his heart. Unfortunately, Goldenshine seemed to predict this move in advance, dropping down just in time to avoid the blade that was aimed at his back. Immediately afterwords, he put his hand to the ground and a row of crystal spike shot out of the ground beneath Dmitry's feet.

Thankfully, do to the close proximity of the spikes, as well as young Kazakov's reflexes, he was able to avoid being run through. However, he was left with a large number of light puncture wounds across the front of his body, making it harder to move. To make matters worse, just as Dmitry was getting to his feet, more spikes began to pop out of the ground, narrowly missing the spirit wielder as he moved about to avoid them.

"You know, you guys have been awfully disruptive to my operation here. I gotta say, it definitely bugs me." Harper said, as the onslaught of spears finally ceased. "But don't worry about it, I got a way so you can pay back for it in full..." He continued as he grinned and a crystal morning star was formed in his hand.

And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri) - Page 2 Empty Re: And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri)

Post by Azurius Tade 21st November 2015, 6:52 pm

Following the map she'd memorized, Kateri found a rope that lead upwards. It was pretty fresh, and very high-grade stuff, so she assumed that mean the rope belonged to the treasure hunters. That and the ceiling it went through was a massive hole, with very jagged edges that let her know some fat-ass probably fell straight through... or they used dynamite to blow it open. Kateri grabbed the rope with both hands and began shimmying up it. Upon reaching the top of the rope; according to the map it was just under the main vault, she heard the sounds of fighting. Kateri made her magic presence almost non-existent as she ran past, following the map to a flight of stairs that lead upwards. 'Can't use my magic while those two are around...' she thought while ascending the steps. She stopped at the top and checked around the corner, watching as a rather large man created a morning star from what looked like crystals. 'Shadow, where are you?' she called for her pet. She felt warm breath at her back, along with a slight poke from a large bony head. 'Good timing.' she thought. 'I had to use my teleport ability, I'm sorry.' he replied telepathically. 'It's fine, that was great thinking. What's the group status?' She said, asking her question as she took the sniper from Shadow's mouth and began laying down. 'There was a cave-in that separated your comrades, leaving the male to fight alone.' Shadow responded. 'Kay...' Kateri said while aiming down her scope. The battle between the two seemed to have resumed, making it hard her to aim properly. She took aim as the mans arms were moving, figuring she can prevent him from using anything too ungodly huge if she hit em. Her pupils narrowed in on the center of her scope as she moved the barrel to predict Harper's movements. A click from the trigger being over-shadowed by the sound of the 14.5mm round barraging through the air, leaving a while trail behind it. Almost instantly, Harper's left hand was graved by the shot, and a second later his entire left arm exploded from the force behind the moving round. The round impacted the wall causing it to explode, leaving a large hole in its wake. "Surprise bitch." Kateri said with a smirk before pulling the bolt on her rifle and standing up. She turned and began running off to find a new spot to fire from.

And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri) - Page 2 Empty Re: And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri)

Post by Benjamin 23rd November 2015, 8:23 pm

Dmitry grinned again as Harper's arm exploded, seeing his opportunity as the man wailed.

"I invoke the Great Wolf: Hati!" As soon as the wolf materialized, he and his pupil charged at their foe. Hati, having gotten to the one-armed sooner, dashed past the man at top speed, causing the the place where his arm once was to rupture further and throwing his shoulder back. Dmitry, arriving shortly after, leaped and drove his right foot into Harper's left knee, releasing a sickening crunch along with cry from the crystal-make mage. Pivoting on the heel that was driven into his enemy's knee, he brought he swung Dark Fang, unleashing the malevolence provided by Harper into the morning star he was attempting to swing into the spirit mage's face, driving the two about five feet apart.

Just as Harper was getting to his feet, Hati managed to latch his jaws to the bloody stump where his arm used to be. As the man swung about in attempt to remove the spirit, Dmitry moved in to finish the job. What happened next was far outside of his expectations.

As young Kazakov closed in on the treasure hunter, Hati's form exploded into a fog of smoke and something rammed into him, launching him into a nearby wall. After that, things were a bit hazy, as Dmitry stumbled to his feet and looked about. While it was hard to make out through the potential concussion, it appeared as though Harper was stepping out of the fog with some kind of crystal prosthetic replacing his missing arm. It was a foot longer than the other, half the width, and had a clawed hand. His busted knee was stabilized with a crystal make brace, allowing him to hobble along like some sort of magical shiny pirate cyborg, a term that sounds even funnier out loud.

    Seriously, try it.

And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri) - Page 2 Empty Re: And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri)

Post by Azurius Tade 23rd November 2015, 9:14 pm

Blind to what was happening between Harper Goldenshine and Dmitry, Kateri followed the paths marked by the map she committed to memory a little bit ago. Using these, she ran down a corridor to a hole in the ceiling that the group blew up. The rope or ladder they used to get down was gone, so she jumped up, pressing her boots to the wall and quickly forced herself up with a single push. Grabbing the edge of the hole, Kateri pulled herself up and got to the second floor. According to the map, the tunnel she took would lead her to a window over looking the room where Harper and Dmitry were fighting. She arrived at the window just in time to watch as a cloud of smoke ejecting Dmitry out of it. Kateri quickly set up her sniper, placing the bipod legs on the edge of the stone opening and angling downwards. Unable to get a proper angle, she had shadow enlarge himself and let her stand on his tail. She got on a knee so she'd be able to keep stable, and commanded Shadow to raise and lower his tail so she could get a proper angle on Harper as he stepped out of the cloud. Kateri let out a humph as she saw the arm she'd just destroyed replaced with a crystal looking one. Through the lens of her scope she saw one of his legs had a type of prop on it, keeping the leg from collapsing. Harper moved a bit slower on it, and hobbled which made shooting him easier and harder at the same time. Easier because he was slow, harder because he was hobbling about. Kateri aimed for his chest, figuring a single shot would be all it took to kill the man. She gently tapped the trigger letting off a massive bang, but when Kateri removed her eye from the scope she saw a pillar of crystal jutting out from the ground. The pillar was mostly shattered, but in the middle of what was left of it was a large chunk of metal still smoking. Kateri picked her sniper up and began running while Shadow moved to their next position. The same moment the two had moved, a set of crystal spikes impaled where they once were.

And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri) - Page 2 Empty Re: And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri)

Post by Benjamin 24th November 2015, 11:02 pm

Dmitry grit his teeth as the slug was stopped short of it's target, deciding it best to use the opportunity while it was still viable. He charged in once more as Harper was recovering from casting that spell and was soon met with the longer, crystal-made arm. However, the clawed hand met only air, just as Dmitry reappeared behind him out of thin air to slash the back of the treasure hunter's knee and attempting to follow up with a well aimed strike to the kidney.

As the he tried to finish off the crippled foe, something stopped Dmitry in his tracks. He slowly stumbled back, five crystal-make spikes protruding from the upper half of his body, before falling over on his back for the final time and bleeding out on the stone floor.

The vision having faded from his eyes and the present resumed, Dmitry leaped back a few paces as the barbs impaled the ground in front of him. After that, he put about five more feet between him and Goldenshine, in case the bastard was feeling ambitious/desperate with those spikes. Thankfully, Harper was effectively stranded where he was, meaning he couldn't turn around to aim those spikes properly and he certainly was going to come after Dmitry. Conversely, judging from the attack earlier, it seemed this one was particularly good at sensing magic energy, allowing him to target Dmitry if he was in close proximity. While it wasn't pinpoint accurate, it meant getting close was a big no-no.

"I invoke the Twin Ravens: Huginn! Muninn!" The two birds flew out upon their return and began to circle Harper from far above, waiting for Dmitry to convert them into their offensive forms. But if he struck too soon, it would mean nothing.

He was just going to have to wait.

Post by Azurius Tade 25th November 2015, 12:04 am

Kateri continued running along the circular area above the battleground, pausing at a window long enough to see a pool of blood on the floor. "Humph!" she huffed as her eyes and hair turned pure white, signaling that she was no longer in a state of mind where casually running about was an option. She rested the sniper against the wall, taking a few steps out and focusing her mind on controlling her own magic. "Alright... let's do this." she said softly, running at the opening and pressing a hand against the floor to lift herself up. On top of being used as leverage, a set of ice spikes erupted from the ground, impaling Goldenshine, locking him in place as Kateri used her Ice Burial. Several crystals slammed into the ice spikes, attempting to shatter them, but much to Harper's dismay the ice simply reformed around the breaks in the original pillars. He looked up as to see Kateri leaping down with two revolvers drawn and a flurry of ice shards above her. The spikes fired rapidly, impaling Harper's exposed chest as Kateri fired the guns, landing only five shots. Expecting the crystal spike to come from the ground, Kateri was able to time it properly and put her guns under her boots, using them to slide down the spike and land in a forward roll. She jumped as another spike came out, and using careful mental calculations, results from her father's training, she was able to time the next three spikes. She quickly holstered the two guns, and pulled out another pair of guns. Two ornate looking MP5 sub-machine guns, and began firing both while running around Harper. A pillar of crystals shot out from Harper's arm, him trying to punch Kateri with his prosthetic. Not having expected it, Kateri was hit square in the stomach and launched against the wall. She quickly rolled out the way as a series of small crystals impaled the wall she was just leaned against. Needing time to recover, Kateri ran into the hole created when she took Harper's real arm off earlier, using the hallways inside to stay hidden while she caught her breath.

And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri) - Page 2 Empty Re: And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri)

Post by Benjamin 28th November 2015, 10:05 am

Dmitry's face twisted into an enraged scowl, his friend having been flung into a wall. However, there was little to no response from him towards Harper. Instead, he simply stood up and began to walk towards the area where Kateri was taking cover, seemingly taking his time at that. When Harper, who was still facing away from Dmitry, was finally able to see where the young mage was going, he seemed to become quite upset at being ignored. He tried to turn himself towards Dmitry, attempting to get his attention and call him back to the 'fight'.

"Hey..." He weakly said, weak and frail from the struggle so far. "I said hey! I'm talking to you damnit!" Soon he was doing his damnedest to drag himself towards Dmitry, seemingly unaware that he was physically useless and running short of any foreseeable lifespan. "Don't you walk away from me, you son-of-a-bitch!" After some pointless writhing, the treasure hunter finally used his crystal make magic on himself again, causing the minerals to form on his legs. after a couple of second, both appendages were encased in to large, crystalline prosthetics that allowed him a minor ability to walk, though it seemed to pain him greatly. Still, Dmitry ignored him, continuing on towards his friend despite his own injuries.

"What, you too busy trying to save my new bitch!" Harper foolishly said through the pain. Finally, Dmitry stopped and stood still, before turning his head just enough to glance at the crystal supported man with that silver glow still shinning through his pupils, signalling that there were still spirits on the field...

The first pierced his heart, causing him to fall backwards. The second planted itself firmly between his eyes, the force slamming him down to the ground. after a few seconds, when the famed treasure hunter known as Harper Goldenshine was well and truly deceased, the blades that now made up the physical forms of Huginn and Muninn disappeared.

'Rotten fool...' The Great Wolf rather curtly said.

After that, Dmitry made his way over to Kateri so he could help her to her feet and end this trip.

And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri) - Page 2 Empty Re: And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri)

Post by Azurius Tade 28th November 2015, 6:12 pm

Lexa heard the sound of chatter, accompanied soon after the sound of something big hitting the ground. She gave a smirk as she got up, stepping into the opening created by her sniper blasting a hole in the wall. On the floor laid Harper Goldenshine lifeless. Kateri gave a quick chuckle and said "Lemme guess, he pissed you off? You know you can't just kill everyone who makes you angry uncle kazy." she said sweetly, giving an energetic smile while walking over the rubble. She continued past Dmitry, standing directly under the window she'd jumped from with her hand out. "Shadow, pass!" she hollered moments before her sniper fell down, landing square in her outstretched hand. The small black creature flew out from the opening after that in his much smaller, cuter form and landed on Kateri's shoulder. She looked around the room; remembering the map said it was in the same room they were in. Kateri walked back towards Dmitry saying "So where is that stupid door..." with an inquisitive tone with her eyes darting about the room for something that was out of place. Standing in the middle of the room, the walls were highly ornate, so much so that any cracks seemed like either erosion or part of the decor. Her eyes slowly looked down for no reason at all, noting that the stone centerpiece she was standing on had many cracks in it, but some were too perfect to be normal. "Back up." she said to Dmitry as she got off the circle. Kateri pressed her hand to the piece of art, exerting some magic power on it utilizing a little trick she'd come up with. After a second, a cloud of dust flew up from the cracks in the circle and then the pieces began sinking one at a time until a spiral staircase was made leading down. "Found it..." she said amazed by the fact that the mechanism wasn't broken in the slightest. She pulled out her assault rifle and began moving in ahead of Dmitry to make sure nothing else was hiding inside.

And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri) - Page 2 Empty Re: And So the Hunt Begins! (Mei/Kateri)

Post by Benjamin 29th November 2015, 11:03 pm

Upon seeing his young charge safe and sound, Dmitry breathed a sigh of relief and even chuckled at her comment on who he could and couldn't kill.

"Heh, says you..." He said, indicating quite clearly what he felt about that sentiment. In truth, Dmitry hadn't met the first person lucky enough to anger him and get away with their life, so he wasn't really sure where she was coming from on that particular statement. All the same, they wouldn't likely have to deal with anymore of Harper's goons now that he was out of the way and they were this far into the ruins. "And don't call me 'Uncle', it's...creepy."

As the door opened revealing the much sought after saint's chamber, the object of this long struggle. The air seemed stale as it escaped the room, the smell of antiquity now permeating the air around the two mages. Dmitry put a hand on Kateri's shoulder as he walked past her, able to sense that there was no danger here.

"Easy kid, there ain't nothin' in here," he reassured the younger mage. "Anyone who might've been here is long dead. Now then..." The medium closed his eyes for a moment, reading the place with his psyche. Upon opening them, his feet led him to a corner of the room, stopping in front of an ancient wooden container. Dmitry slowly opened the container, before his eyes widened in disappointment and anger. Inside the container rested a single hat, very old in it's style, accompanied by what seemed to be nothing else.

"You kiddin' me...?" He asked nobody, frustration welling up in him. "That's it?! Are you fuckin' kiddin' me?!" Dmitry kicked the chest and paced about the room, trying to figure out why he thought of this in the first place. However, upon a passing glance at the chest, he noticed the bottom of it slightly dislodged, the corner of a leather bound book poking out. He rushed over and took the book from the compartment and scanned through it's contents, eyes widening as he realized what it said.

'Teach you to jump to conclusions, eh boy?' Hati said, a little surprised at his pupils outburst, but glad he had rained himself in.

'Yeah, that's on me, old man.' With that, he picked up the hat and looked to his young partner.

"Alright Kat, let's get outta here."

Post by Azurius Tade 29th November 2015, 11:43 pm

Kateri watched as Dmitry passed her, saying nothing could possibly be in here aside from some corpses. She wanted to tell him off, let the mage know that even the dead don't always sleep but she decided to hold her tongue. She kept her weapon pointed as she entered, knowing that anything could actually get in here if her little spell was all it took to open the door. Upon fully entering the area, Kateri looked around through the iron sight on her assault rifle, noting the lack of moving... anything. She let out a sigh and gently tucked away her rifle while turning to face a far off shelf. She listened as her partner, and good friend began freaking out over what he'd found but paid him no heed as she was looking for something else. There it was, on a dusty shelf sitting in the far back where very few could find it, hidden in the shadows of a barely lit orb. The object was tucked away into her pocket rather quickly, making sure Dmitry wasn't looking. Kateri passed the older mage as he was staring at a book, making sure not to disturb him as she did so. She'd made her way out of the ruins and stepped into the sunlight while shielding her eyes. 'Damn... lost track of time in there...' she thought to herself, remembering it to be night time when the group entered. She lost her cloak back there, so there was no way to keep her hair from turning white this time; which she hated it doing. Shadow turned to his other form, the large version that was able to carry massive loads. Kateri jumped on his back, wondering where that other girl went, and hoping Dmitry would make it out alright. "He'll be fine." she said softly to no one in particular. She gave Shadow a nudge and he opened his wings and began taking off heading towards Lamia Scale Guild Hall.
