cat on the loose (job V.2)

It was a nice Saturday morning in Beanstalk village. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and Gunner... well Gunner was target praticing with cans again. He was waiting on two mage to omplete a job to find a cat. The odd part about this team being that the other two mage were Lord Frederik, a dark mage, and Hirana,a legal mage.
Thinking about this fact, Gunner started laughing about the irony of the situation. Three mage from the three different classes: legal, dark and neutral... what a joke.
As time flew by, Gunner grew impatient; now he knew how others felt when he was always late.

Hirana arrived at Beanstalk village with nothing but herself. As she walked through the town, she saw all the townsfolk rejoicing in one of the local festivities. However, she did see a strange man firing at cans like some loser. She walked up to him:

"I'm guessing you must be Gunner. I guessed :P" said Hirana.

Before he could answer, she grabbed one of his guns and tried shooting at a can, but to no avail. She sighed and sat down as she listened to Gunner rant about how he felt when people were late. This was going to be a long day.

'Looking for a cat, why did it come to this' said Frederick to himself as he walked through Beanstalk Village looking for Gunner. 'Maybe I should just trap him with my Darkness Cage, that will teach it ran of like that'. Frederick stopped, he heard gunshots close by. 'Im guessing that is Gunner' he thought.
As Frederick walked to the sounds of the shots he suddenly stopped. There behind Gunner was standing the girl he met on a previous job.

'oh great... you are the other mage' said Frederick with a cold voice

Still ranting about the other mage being late and flustered by the fact that Hirana just took one of his guns, Gunner noticed how Frederik walked up to the group. He had a rather grim expression on his face.
“Why the long face bud? Aren’t ya happy to see me again?”asked Frederik “Oh and look! Our new companion is a legal mage!” Stopping for a second he thought about the circumstances once more and realized: legal + dark = bad
“Ok let me get this out of the way. We all need the money from this job… so no killing each other ok?”

"Agreed, we wouldn't wanna hurt lil'freddie here would we?" purred Hirana.

She started walking towards the employer's house, saving no time for chit chat. She was determined to finish this mission before dawn and be back at Seik's mansion for supper. As they were walking, they saw about 30 people looking for something that seemed valuable to them. When asked, they said they were looking for the cat as well. With that being said, Hirana ran towards the house at a even faster pace.

Frederick was walking silently behind Gunner and Hirana and saw the girl suddenly storm off to the employers house. Apparently there were also some other people looking for the cat. It didn't surprise Frederick because the reward for finding the critter was very big. 'Hirana wait up!' he shouted 'you don't have to be so hasty'

“Hirana wait up!” Frederik shouted “you don't have to be so hasty!”
“Fred’s right. Slow down girl. These numbskulls can’t find the cat anyways. And even if they find it we’ll just ‘retrieve’ it from the one who finds it” Gunner made a gesture of quotation marks when saying the word “retrieve” and winked to Frederik.
Hirana didn’t show any intention of slowing down, so Gunner grasped her shoulder firmly and gently dragged on her to slow her down. “The old miss will still be there in 10 minutes. So ease up and enjoy the prime of your years. Kick, back and take it slow” he said and gave Hirana a thumbs up to underline his statement.

Hirana sighed and sat down. For once, she would comply with Frederik's demands. As time passed, Hirana got to learn more and more about Gunner and became more attached to him.

"Hey Gunner, you wouldn't happen to have anyone special in your life at the moment right?" she asked.

She sat back into her chair and waited for Gunner's reply to her awkward question.

Frederick was sitting silently apart from Hirana and Gunner for some time now, listening to their conversation. Until Hirana asked Gunner if he anyone special in his life. A quick flash of his past life came by in Frederick mind. Memories that he rather would not think about. 'Maybe if i get some drink that would help me get my mind of this' he thought to himself.

'yeah.... I getting us some drinks..leaving you two... alone for a bit' he to gave Gunner a grim smile and walked then to the bar.

"Hey Gunner, you wouldn't happen to have anyone special in your life at the moment right?" Hirana asked out of the blue after some small talk. At that moment Frederik stood up to get some drinks and gave Gunner a devious smile… and he had no idea what that was for…
“I don’t really like to get too close to others anymore…” he replied in a grim tone, remembering his past and how he led his comrades to their deaths. Tears started to well up in his eyes, just barely managing not to shed them. Quickly trying to divert the attention off of him before he remembered any more of his past, he threw the question right back at her “And you? Anyone special?” and tried to force a faint smile to cover up his momentary sadness.

"Haha nope. Well, I used to... never mind." Hirana stuttered.

She stood up and walked to a nearby tree. At the moment, the owner of the cat came by to talk to Hirana.

"Hello, I see that you are here to accept my job offer. The cat was last seen around the park. Good luck!" she said.

Hirana raced off towards the park leaving Gunner and Frederik behind. She probably should not of done it, but she did it anyways. She felt hurt and angry at herself because her past was kept hidden from her. She could not dwell on the past. All she could do was forge onwards. Someone in her past had told her that.

Frederick stood at the counter and ordered some drinks he just turned around to walk back when he saw Hirana ran off. With a surprised look on his face he walked back and looked at Gunner 'what did you say to her' Frederick pauses for a bit then continued 'ah well nevermind, we better go after her before she get in some sort of trouble' He left the drinks at the table and started walking towards the direction Hirana ran off too.

Following Frederik, Gunner tried to defend himself “I didn’t say anything! I just asked her the same question that she asked me! And besides, she ran off because the old lady told us where the cat might be; which is the park by the way. Damn she’s so… so…” he couldn’t find the words to describe the girl and just sighed.
“I guess we better hurry before she runs into trouble. With that attitude it can’t be far behind” he said and started running after Hirana.

Hirana ran through the park with determination. She was intent on retrieving the cat and taking her jewel reward. As she ran past a tree, she saw two people struggling over a cat. After careful analysis, she deducted that the cat was the cat that would get her the reward. She jumped in between them and snatched the cat, then she immediately started running. Turning the corner, she exhaled.

"Sigh, that was a close one." said Hirana

At the very moment, she bumped in Gunner.

Gunner ran towards the park with Frederick quickly following behind him. Until Hirana out of nowhere suddenly bumped into Gunner in front of him. Frederick was a little surprised and looked at the brown little cat Hirana was holding in her arms. 'Ah.. I see that you found the cat' Frederick pauses for a second and then continued with a firm voice 'but you shouldn't run off like that, were in this job together you know. There is no reason for you to do it all on you're own'

As Hirana seemed to run out from nowhere she bumped into Gunner making him take several steps back and almost falling backwards. Stunned by the incredible force the small girl had, he stared at her for a short while; THIS little girl could knock back a guy who lifts two tons like nothing…
He shook his head and zoned back out of his thoughts just hearing how Frederik was scolding Hirana.
“Give her a break will ya? She got the cat and we’re happy. Sheesh… it’s almost like you two have some bad blood between you or something… like an old couple that split up” laughed the mage hysterically, barely containing himself.

Hirana blushed and looked away.

"There is no possible way that I would ever date a guy like Frederik, I swear it on my life." she exclaimed. "Anyways, I have the cat, and no, you may not have it."

She slowly started walking away, then turned around.

"Actually, Gunner can split the reward with me ^.^" said Hirana. "But not you." she said with murderous intent.

She grabbed Gunner by the coat and slowly started dragging him away to the owner of the cat.

Frederick couldn't believe what he was hearing, for some reason Hirana decided that he could not have a split of the profit. 'Maybe i should just attack her and grab the cat myself.. no I can't do that' he thought. Frederick calmed himself a little.

'Fine with me' said Frederick arrogantly 'being in you're presence is a pain anyway'

Frederick thought it was better to return to the guild for now, there was no need for him to go after those two.
He quickly turned around and pulled the hood of his cloak over his head, and started walking away in a different direction 'see you around Gunner'

Not wanting to abandon his friend he remembered a small trick he picked up over time. Twirling around, he grabbed Hirana’s arm, twisted it and held it against her back while simultaneously wrapping the chain of the case (with the two ton case still attached) around the girl’s body.
“Sorry little girl, but I don’t abandon friends” he said to the bound girl letting her fall to the ground, still wrapped in the chain then he laid the case on top of the girl “I know you’re strong, but not stron enough to escape that”
With a smile the mage turned to Gunner and snatched the cat that had jumped away during the stunt. “Come on Fred. Let’s get the reward… don’t worry Hirana… you’ll get your share” as he finished his sentence he winked at the girl once and walked towards his old pal, Frederik dragging the girl behind him by the feet.

Hirana couldn't believe that Gunner had just betrayed her. At any rate, she couldn't do much about it now that she was being dragged by Gunner, or thats what he thought.

"Memory make: Water Veil" said Hirana.

A ball of water slowly expanded from her and pushed the case away from her body. She jumped up and pushed it away.

"Memory make: Arclight Arrow" she said.

A glowing bow of pure light energy materialized in her hand, she drew the arrow back and pointed it at Gunner.

"Hand the cat over Gunner." she said with a stone cold tone.

After being dragged back by Gunner to get the reward, he watched as Hirana found her way out her restraints. A glowing bow of light appeared in her hand, and she aimed at Gunner.

'Hand the cat over Gunner' she said

Frederick sighed and then raised his voice 'and I though we could have a peaceful job for once' He walked up between Gunner and Hirana 'you know, if you start fighting now you probably hurt the cat, and if that happens neither one of us will get the reward'

Whilst Fred placed himself between him and Hirana Gunner slowly edged towards his case, picking it up. Then he proceeded to move towards Hirana and ever so gently pushing her outstretched hands down.
“There is no need to fight here ok? Here’s the cat!” and Gunner threw the cat at the girl and simultaneously pulling a lever on his case while the girl was distracted, activating his spell “Neural Discharge” (for those who don’t know: it completely paralyses people by turning their brain to mush).
