    Job Title: The White-Bellied Whales

    Rank: 10 Year

Player Requirements:  2 S-Ranked Mages. Maximum of 5. Two A-Ranks may accompany the two  S-Ranks.

Job Requirements: Defeat the white-bellied whale or at least live to tell the tale and fight another day! For some reason, rumors of various white whales appearing in different seas have popped up around coastal towns such as Hargeon Town and those brave fisherman who have gone to investigate the supposed hoax have never returned! This has led the Rune Knights to legitimately consider this hoax as a possibility as well as a threat and have issued jobs throughout the guild halls of Fiore, legal and otherwise through their connections. Of course, all attempts to perform this job have resulted in the mages never returning, so the Council has upgraded the status of the job to a 10 Year, accurately reflecting the difficulty of this job. Thread must be a minimum of 60 posts. The monster dice must be rolled at least 5 times and only two dice may be rolled at a time. Every enemy must be dispatched before you roll more dice. Each post must be at least 350 words long.

    Job Location: Any Sea

Job Description: “Aye lad, let me spin you the tale of the white-belly whale.  This here beast is one that all fishermen like myself revere and fear, one we hope never to encounter. It’s a curse I tell ye’, it’s the sea trying to… balance the scales so to speak. It’s out there, and whatever fool you are to go after it, I wish you luck out there, as there are few things that are more frightening than the wrath of the white whales…” the old fisherman at the dock will tell you as you board your own ship or a ship provided by the Magic Council that should be more than adequate to suit your needs. No one really seems to know where this advent of “cursed” white whales came from, but this isn’t your job. Your job is to defeat one and find out what its weakness is, if any, and if it can even *be* killed. Of course, if it’s too much you can still retreat and inform the Council of what you found out, since no one has been able to do at least that either. This is your only job for now, and following the completed task, the Magic Council will allow you to go on another job to further explore the mysteries of the cursed whales, but for now, you are only to find, fight, or retreat. As long as you can do at least the latter, the Council will know that it’s possible to at least fight the creature without being pulled by the legs into Davy Jone’s locker. Should you actually defeat the beast and bring back proof, the Magic Council will be very much pleased with your performance and pay you a bonus of a two hundred thousand jewels! If you don’t kill it and retreat instead, you will still get paid with the base reward, but no bonus will be given. Although you will only get the bonus ONCE, you can repeat this job for an increase in reward of twenty five thousand jewels for a cap of one hundred thousand, as you would repeatedly gather more and more information for the Council to use against the arising threat to their seas.

    Enemies:
Weak: Thunder Narwhals – Your ship is swarmed by 10 of these fierce fighters with the body of a dolphin and the horn of a unicorn, there are few creatures in the ocean that match the fighting prowess of the thunder narwhal. They have a variety of different ability, the most prominent of them being the ability to fire lightning out of the tip of their horn that will deal A-Rank damage and paralyze whoever is hit for a post. Should someone fall overboard, they will get the attention of all of the narwhals and more than likely be impaled by the glowing, six inch spiral horn that adorns their forehead. Other abilities that these sea creatures share is the ability to move very, very quickly. They can move so quickly that they can pop out of the water high enough to side of your ship and zap whoever is aboard. Of course they can also opt to charge straight into your boat like a very confused dog that hears the front door, though instead of just looking that they will poke holes in your boat that are very advisable to fix before your ship takes too many holes (20) and begins to sink. A pair of narwhals will attempt this every three posts. To defeat, they each require an A-Ranked spell’s worth of damage before being sent to their watery grave.

Normal: The Megaladons – Although it’s feared among seafaring men and women alike, it is not what you are searching for. Perhaps it smelled the single drop of narwhal blood in the ocean, perhaps you were unlucky enough to stumble across them sleeping, but whatever the case these giant sharks are upon you. They hunt in packs of five and have as varying abilities as the narwhals that you may or may not have already faced. Each shark is a vicious, aggressive, killing machine that will not rest until everything it torn to bits and inside of their bellies. Few sea creatures match the blood lust that is given off by the Megaladons. Of course, they wouldn’t be so powerful if they didn’t have at least a basic capability for using magical power. If a little basic, they can use ocean magic. One of these spells is opening their mouth and causing two big white sized sharks made of concentrated water to fly into you or you ship and explode, dealing two holes of damage each. These shark bombs can be blocked by a B-Rank spell or destroyed by one of the same rank. Another power of these sharks is the ability to knock themselves into your ship, of course, and deal the same amount of damage as their bombs, which they will try every three posts. To defeat them, you must deal an S-Ranked spell’s worth of damage.

Strong: White-Bellied Whale – So you managed to find it? You shouldn’t feel lucky, you should feel fear. Any monster that was summoned alongside this or that was already present prior to the White-Bellied Whale showing up will swim away in fear of getting eaten. The isn’t even the only monstrosity that lurks in the sea despite how large it is, there are actually very many, it’s only now that they’ve chosen to reveal themselves to the world. It can do very many things, one of which is the ability to communicate through telepathy. It will not immediately attack you when it first appears, however you will need to kill it and bring back proof in order to get your bonus. It will greet you politely, and where you go from there is up to you and your party. “Congratulations for finding me, humans, though I assume that you are here to try and end my life? If you are, it is a shame. I have killed plenty of your kind before and I will not hesitate to do it once more if my life is in jeopardy. I recommend we not resort to violence, though. It’s very distasteful” it will tell you before simply floating on the water. It will tell you how its smaller brethren are being hunted to extinction and how it is simply returning the favor to whoever tries and attacks it. Also, it will vaguely reference a higher power in the hierarchy of the see, mentioning “the grand tentacle” and variations of the word squid. If you converse and listen to the story for 15 posts, it will perhaps allow you to take back a tooth with you to allow you to receive the bonus as well as revealing the existence of his kind or for further research assuming you have already received the bonus. Of course, he will also ask that you not share any information that is *too* sensitive, as he still wants a chance to fight and defeat those who threaten his life, as well as the life of his other massive whale brethren. However, if you choose to attack the beast, it will be quite disappointed and engage you by submerging and following that up with a powerful head butt to the side of your ship that will capsize your ship if you’ve taken 50% damage. Surprisingly, it can’t use magic, only its razor sharp teeth and powerful physical attacks. To defeat the behemoth that could EASILY fit your ship in its mouth (though he will only ever bite your ship in half after sustaining 75% of his health or at least try to), it will take 5 H-Rank spell’s worth of damage or equivalent. Or you could always go back to shore for the base reward. Only one will appear at a time, if you roll more than one strong monster than they will simply count as normals.

Boss: ??? – Should you choose to kill the whale and take a piece of it as proof, you will unintentionally summon the wrath of the beast that outranks it in the hierarchy of the sea. Black clouds will form overhead while lightning begin to strike the water around your ship. Massive tentacles the size of the smaller whale (from the previous picture) while shoot up from the sea and begin to chase your ship. They each take an H-Ranked spell to knock off your ship and there are eight of them… If you can hold them off for five posts as you head back to shore full steam ahead, you will receive an extra reward.

Reward: 200K jewels is the base reward. This reward increases by 50K jewels every time you do this job for a maximum of 100k extra jewels. Note that this applies to a person by person basis, so only the person that has done the job 3 times will get the 300K base reward. (Example: The second time you do the job the reward will be 250k, 3rd; 300k). Getting the bonus will increase the reward by 200K jewels, so if you would bring back the tooth of the monster after conversing with him, you would get the base reward + 200K. But, you will only get the base reward once ever, so plan accordingly. Should you choose to defeat the massive beast AND survive the tentacles, you will be able to prove that there is a bigger picture to the Council and they will perhaps they will give you access to another, more difficult job of bigger consequence later down the road?

(This job can only be taken 3 times per person)

Bumped down to SS Rank. Rank needs to be adjusted. Still approved.
