Odhran was glad for the cliffs around Era. It allowed him to look as dramatic as possible, allowing his clothing to flutter in the wind, certainly causing dramatics. Of course, the extra wind that Odhran himself provided with his Ark of Embodiment also helped the flair brought in as he stared down at the city of the Magic Council, glaring at each house, trying to get a read on where Representative Thompson's house may have been. He scanned the town, looking at where everything may have been, until he noticed the very obvious villa in the western quarter of town, a magnificent garden and greenhouse outside the white brick building. "Right! That's our destination! That building is the target of our advances. Are you ready for the mission of your lifetimes, Seika and Faustein? We're going to barge in there, and we're going to kidnap someone. Don't worry, I have experience kidnapping people. Oh, there's also some other things we have to do, but I gave that note to someone. Honestly, I forgot who. Dunno if it was you, Seika, or you, Faustein, or it it was maybe Arnaluuk or Lupa or... well, either way, someone has it that's not me. Don't worry about any other supplies, though." Odhran waved his hand in front of him, conjuring a bundle of rope to float in the air. "Your magnificent Ace of Creation has all the tools always at his disposal! I am always capable of granting you all such magnificent and glorious gifts of goodness! Why, I suspect that you are ready to praise me already, isn't that right? After all, I have graciously taken you both under my wing to have you learn with the greatest Celestial Spirit Mage that the world has ever seen, and you'll both be so appreciated in my new world! Well, technically Janet's gonna be my boss, but I'm the important one here, okay? Trust me, you'll be incredibly glad to be joining into the wonders of my own success and my gifts of power that I shall grant you!"

Odhran waved his hand, replacing the bundle of rope with a series of hands that all began applauding for him, Odhran bowing in admiration of their admiration. "Thank you, thank you. Now, the matter of bringing them to heel. First things first, we have to get over there." Wings gracefully sprouted from his back, a feathery, angelic look to them as they slowly beat in the air. "I have the means, but what of you lot? Any of you have the ability to fly? Don't worry, if you don't, Lupa can gladly take you! She has wings, and she just loves transporting people upon her back! So, what say you, Seika? What say you, Faustein? Are you prepared for the mission of a lifetime?"

Post by Ran 1st July 2020, 9:09 am

On this fine day, Seika had woken up with the intention of going to the bathroom. Instead, she had been scratched fiercely by her feline best friend after rolling over her tail in an attempt to slide out of bed. Still wincing as she touched the fresh claw marks across her cheek, Seika leaned closer to the bathroom mirror. It was difficult to see without her glasses, but she didn't want to go back into the main part of her room and face Aphelia's wrath again. Pressing her fingers against the marks, the mage winced when it hurt. Oops. But it was an easy fix, as she slowly let magic bubble up on her finger tips and seep into where the skin had broken. Slowly, it mended; Seika could have used a regular spell or thrown more magic power through her hand, but she felt like taking her time today. After all, the girl was in no rush to return to the ornery Aphelia, who would no doubt yowl into her ears again for disturbing her sleep. Even though Seika was enthusiastic in her attempts to get Aphelia out of the guild hall and out and about, she still had a small degree of self preservation. However, no matter whether or not the feline agreed, the mage had already decided that today they were going to do a mission! Her chin set in a very determined way, Seika took a short breath and then immediately blew it out in a gust that sent her bangs flying upwards. She couldn't do this! Aphelia was going to kill her! Wincing, she slowly turned the door knob of the bathroom, then creeped out, tip toeing. Without her glasses, she couldn't see clearly, but she guessed that Aphelia was probably still in bed. Okay, so she just had to grab the specs and leave. Turning towards the night stand, Seika was about to do just that when a voice stopped her. "Seika, what on earth are you doing?" There, standing in the door way, was Aphelia. Unlike five minutes ago- or had it been ten? Twenty by now?- Aphelia was not in the form of a cat. Instead, she was in her human shape, with silver hair and red eyes. A large hat sat on her head, and her clothes were practical but also very pretty. At least, in Seika's opinion! They were so cool and stylish!

"Woah! Aphi, are you gonna go like that?" Hearing Seika's words, the spirit narrowed her eyes at her bond mate questioningly. "Go where?" Even though her voice held a warning, the girl blatantly disregarded it, jumping across the room towards her friend and hugging her fiercely. "On the mission! Today, me and Oddie and Faust are gonna go do something cool! I heard that there's lots of um, fun stuff to do!" In reality, Seika knew absolutely nothing about the job they were going to venture out to do, and it came across plainly in her words. Aphelia stared at her bond mate, unable to express her exasperation properly. "Today we are going to train with the spirits. You know this, Seika," the feline who was not really a feline at the moment said. Pouting, Seika began speaking at the fastest speed her mouth and lips could travel, pouring out excuses. "Aphi! Okay, well think about it like this! If you go like that, right, we can practice summoning spirits on the way! Plus, Oddie is like, super cool with spirits. Have you seen him? He's so good at everything. Just um, you know, we can go with him! Plus, this will give me more time to practice my own shifting! And there's so many cool things to see where we're going, I wanna take pictures, Aphi pleeeease?" Absolutely unfazed by her barrage of excuses, Aphelia simply stared at the girl with a single raised eyebrow. Breaking down, the mage moaned about how Oddie would be so mad at her and how she was disappointing Faust. After all, she couldn't just skip out on the mission! As the girl continued to cry, the spirit gritted her teeth. Eventually, she rubbed her temples before stating lowly, "Fine. Now shift." Immediately, Seika began to perk up, even though tears were still streaming down her cheeks. "We can go??" Her voice reflected the immense hope in her heart. "Yes, you idiot, now shift, I said," the spirit reiterated, her tone becoming more and more annoyed. She already regretted agreeing to post poning their training for what would obviously be a hassle of a mission. Even if Seika claimed it would help her magic, Aphelia doubted it would be anything except more trouble than the mentor ship time was worth.

Her eyes brimming with happy tears now, Seika let out a grateful sob before throwing her arms around Aphelia. The spirit stiffened before muttering, "You still haven't shifted yet," and shoving the girl away from her body. Still silently fuming at her own inability to be hard enough on the girl, she left the room, leaving the door open behind her. Obviously, she expected Seika to follow soon after, and the girl would do just that. She had to shift first, though! Trying to concentrate, she first changed her hair color, then her eye color, and finally did all of her skin in one step. Her clothes were much easier, since it didn't take as much concentration, so Seika was able to transform those rather swiftly. Now with violet grey eyes, and hair nearly the same color as Aphelia's but perhaps a tad bit duller or warmer, she tucked down her ears into her hair to try and hide them. After a bit of attempting that failed, the girl shrugged, deciding it was useless, before her face spread into a wide smile. She was just so happy! Aphelia had agreed to let her go on the mission, and they were matching and everything in their Sibylline forms! It was meant to help them connect with the spirits, who were all from that realm, but Seika also just thought these shapes were really cool. She bounded out of her bed room and down the stairs into the Elysium guild hall proper, where the spirit had been waiting for the past few minutes. Her foot was tapping impatiently. Even though Aphelia was often lazy and didn't like to be rushed, she also hated to have her time wasted. Time when she could have been doing something far more enjoyable, such as eating or sleeping. Instead of saying she was late, though, Aphelia only rolled her eyes before grabbing Seika's hand and teleporting her away in a whisk of bright blue light.

Seika squinted into the strong breezes- no, it was more than a breeze, it was like some kind of pre-tornado action happening here. "Why is it so windy?" The mage asked nobody in particular, before her eyes narrowed in on her mentor. After a while of just calling him that man she didn't listen to, Seika had learned his name from the spirits. Somewhat. "Oddie! Is that you? I can't seeeeee stop the windieeees," she threw herself on the ground dramatically, before realizing that the grass was actually incredibly comfortable. Burrowing more into the tall fronds, she let out a happy sigh. "Oddie, you're so sparkly today! I love you! I wanna be as cool as you some day," the girl drew pictures in the sky as she waited for the mission to actually begin. For now, they were all just chilling on the cliff together, not very far apart because they loved each other! At least, Seika did. She sent out a stream of bright fiery sparks that hovered around Odhran, doing loopdy loops in the air and creating an intricate pattern of light and fire. She was glad that Aphelia had managed to take them directly to the cliffs where Odhran had been waiting, on the edge of Era. The pair had spent a bit of time teleporting to random directions, but it had the added benefit of helping Seika become more and more used to instantaneous travel! Some day, she wouldn't get even the slightest bit sick when teleporting. "I am super ready for this mission, Oddie!" The mage replied, adjusting her head band again, unused to staying in this form for so long. Aphelia was paying attention to every word that the mentor said and filing it away in her memory for later, while Seika had already blocked out the man's words after his first few sentences. He just talked for so long and didn't give her a chance to speak, so she might as well not listen! Because hmph! That was only fair! He was awfully sparkly and pretty, though... so she would love him, but paying attention was a completely different thing in her book.

"Seika, we are going to fly to the Rep's building now. Get a bubble ready." The feline could just teleport there, but for whatever reason, the man seemed determined to be flashy. In addition, the spirit was quite certain the wolf bat thing would be happy to take them across, but knowing Seika, she would be too excited to ride her. For this reason, Aphelia needed to ensure that Seika would use her own bubbly magic to float on her own and stay the least distracted as possible. Most likely, trying to maintain the girl's focus was a lost cause, but the taller girl would do the best that she could. "Mm! Okay!" With absolutely no idea what she had just agreed to, the girl sent more sparkles to float around Odhran. That looked better. She had been considering for the past few minutes if it would be nicer to add more silver ones or red, but silver probably looked nicer with his hair and everything! "God help me," Aphelia put a hand to her face, already tired of this nonsense. Deciding to just deal with it herself, she shifted partially, enormous, dark wings bursting from her shoulder blades. Scooping up Seika in her arms, the spirit coated her with a thick layer of magic to prevent her from jumping away, even if she wanted to. "We're ready," Aphelia told Odhran, eyeing him dubiously. The man looked incompetent as h*ll, no matter what wonders of success and gifts of power he claimed to possess.

"FOR MAD SCIENCE!! TIME TO GET EXCITED, YOU GUYS."

Some time had passed once more after Faustein had that irksome dog-sitting mission wherein here had to care for and spend time with Odhran’s alleged puppy, aka Lupa, which was in reality a behemoth winged wolf. After that mission had been completed, Faustein had been called by the upper echelon of the guild that he was now a part of, aka Elysium, and had been informed that he was promoted from a B-class wizard to an A-class one. Of course, this had not taken him by surprise since he was fully aware of both the strengths and weaknesses of his progress in his wizarding career, but nevertheless, what had caught him unawares was the fact that the apparently random dog-sitting mission wherein he was essentially burdened with the task of caring of Lupa while having to struggle and put forth superhuman effort of will to forcefully suppress his severe caniphobia, had been his B to A-class rank up exam in reality. Naturally, he had not shown his disgruntled thoughts on his visage at the time, but rather had simply maintained his usual impassive, inscrutable expression throughout the rank-up ceremony.

Since then, he had immersed himself once again in the daily routine of his profession as a practicing physician-scientist and of course, in the vagaries of his on-going, ever-burgeoning mad science research which was the medium for his pursuit of his ultimate life ambition, namely, the unlocking and mastering of all the knowledge present in the entirety of the universe around him, in both the magical/supernatural and the natural realms. Thing had been rather uneventful for a considerable length of time and thus, he had been able to make significant progress on the path to the development of the two new systems of magic he had been researching as of late. However, this lull in activity did not last for very long, for unfortunately, Faustein soon received new marching orders, these being a mission which entailed the takedown of a certain government official who was apparently toeing the line of acceptability as far as their client, aka the “Black Blood Brotherhood”, was concerned in this affair. According to the job flyer, the “Black Blood Brotherhood” was miffed that this official who went by the name “Representative Thompson” was trying to promote mages over non-mages and so, had hired him, Odhran, and Seika to kidnap and potentially kill the official and his family on a live broadcast while reciting the demands the “Black Blood Brotherhood” had for the Magic Council in Era.

Bah, how irksome…can they not accomplish such a simple feat on their own? Oh well, since they are willing to pay such a king’s ransom for the completion of this mission, there will be no complaints from me.

He mused silently as he readied himself in his usual work outfit which was really just his physician-scientist’s outfit and all the accoutrements that were associated with it, such as his tactical utility belt which held his dark colored formal pants in place and which contained some of the tools of his trade as well as other equipment bearing holsters which were strapped to his person here and there and contained some of the magic items he had acquired up till present. Truth be told, while he seemed completely defenseless on the surface since he was not wearing any appreciable armor, this was actually a misleading appearance that he had constructed some time back for himself. The reality of the matter was that the entirety of his physician-scientist’s outfit actually possessed defensive capacity which was on par with some of the most legendary of full plate armor suits in the world due to being specially crafted to be ultra-lightweight and yet possess this remarkable defensive quality in its form, thanks to the various magical enchantments that had been interwoven with the very fabric that comprised its structure. After finishing his preparation and reading over the details of this mission, he put his SHG-IV smart holographic glasses with their specially polarized lenses on his face to obscure his arrestingly haunting crimson red eyes and once he had strapped on his IIC spaciotemporal chronometer/warp device to his left wrist, Faustein activated said chronometer and essentially warped himself all the way from Magnolia to Era where presumably Odhran and Seika would be waiting for him.

Thanks to his chronometer, he was able to appear seemingly out of nowhere without any warning or preamble of his arrival. He landed on the top of the peak next to Odhran, and smirked at him and Seika

Indeed, as am I, and is it safe to presume that the target’s residence has been located yet? Furthermore, there is no need currently for me to travel on Lupa’s back. However, depending on the event sequence of this mission, that may change towards the end.

He asked Odhran and then turned to Seika and her familiar and asked since he did not recognize them immediately

Are you both new members of Elysium perhaps? Your appearances do not register as recognizable in the personnel dossier that is stored in my cerebral database.

As he spoke, his voice was, as always, its usual rich, resounding, baritone but hypnotically melodious in nature. Then, he fell silent and waited for Odhran and Seika (the latter of which he did not recognize due to the altered appearance) to react and respond to him. While waiting, he surveyed the area around the group with his smart holographic glasses and quickly located Representative Thompson’s residence with them before moving on to survey the terrain and other relevant features so he could construct a 3D mental map of the environment which would play host to them for the purposes of this mission.

Both his cohorts were prepared for the upcoming mission ahead. Odhran looked upon his two fellow members of Elysium. Faustein, the strange scientist type person, glasses equipped and ready to go. Seika, who seemed different than normal, but Odhran could not quite put his finger on why. Perhaps she had gotten a haircut? It was no matter. The entirety of the crew was ready and prepared to begin the fight. "Good, we are all ready and willing and able and all that sort of stuff. The plan is quite simple: we're heading off towards that Representative or whatever's house, beating up or killing everyone except for the Representative and his family, and then I think we're holding them hostage or something. I gave someone the note, don't exactly remember who, but it's fine and whatever. Faustein, I trust that you're going to be able to set up all that technology stuff that the clients want? I mean, I definitely could myself, but you're the tech guy, so I'll leave it to you. The two of you will accompany me during the whole negotiations thingy while I have my Spirits wait outside and take care of any reinforcements that may try to halt our mission. I'll be honest, I don't really care much either way for the council, but I mean if this gets me more infamy and closer to being finally considered a Warlord, I'll take it. I'll be happy to hear any complaints or questions you may have, so speak now or forever hold your peace."

Should they have spoken, Odhran would have listened to their comments, questions, and requests, before laughing them off without an answer and calling forth a loud, "Follow me!" as he took flight towards the Representative's Villa. He soared above Era, not truly paying attention to if his fellow guildmates were following. As he began nearing the airspace above the villa, he slowly pulled his ring of Keys out from his pockets, rifling through them in wondering what to do. Finally, he had made his choice. "Come forth, Amittai! Atsuai! Arnaluuk! Scorpio! Lupa! Rain hell upon them!" The five keys, all clasped between his fingers with the keys of Lupa and Amittai within the same gap between his index finger and middle finger, shone bright with light as he swung them down, and the five Spirits began plummeting to the ground, Odhran and Lupa altering their paths with their powers of flight while the remaining incapable of flight four merely torpedoed to the ground.

As they charged towards the ground, Atsuai blew a kiss, knocking three arrows upon her bow and firing it at the ground where they were bound to land, causing small magic circles to form beneath their feet before exploding into a hail of translucent serpents, wrapping around their necks and legs. The four landed upon the ground, all in manners reminiscent of their personalities. Amittai crashed to the ground, a fist laid down upon the ground before slowly getting up and lightly brushing off his suit before placing his hands in his pockets absently. Scorpio landed spear-first, twirling it as he dislodged it from the ground beneath him, the golden weapon glimmering in the setting sun. Arnaluuk's landing was accompanied by a small ring of crystalline ice, fluttering in the air beside her, a light pad of snow blocking her fall. Atsuai was the last to land, gracefully floating down as she was accompanied by her ethereal snakes.

"You cats just got your most unlucky day ever." Amittai joked.

"Indeed. Well, come and do your job. Try to kill us, I dare you."

"I want to see them try."

"Alrighty babes, watch and learn how Daddy Scorpio hunts down these mortal idiots!"

"Never call yourself 'Daddy Scorpio' ever again."

"If you do, I may have to... rehabilitate you, fufufu~~"

That seemed to be enough to shut Scorpio up as the plethora of guards charged towards the back to back ring of Spirits, ready to engage in combat.

"Awfully rude of you to come by without even saying hello, eh?" Amittai cooed as a squadron charged at him. A cloud of black mist emanated from his body, beneath his tuxedo and through the sockets of his eyes, pausing all of his foes in their tracks. If he had a face, Amittai certainly would be smiling at this point, but he merely took solace in charging at them and delivering neck snaps to the nearest three before the remaining soldiers overcame their fears and began their attempt to attack him. Amittai casually dodged a sword strike, responding in turn with a swift knee to his assailant's gut, only stopping once more to capture a spear thrust between his fingers, wresting the spear from the attacker's hand and responding in kind with grasping the man by the throat and chokeslamming him into the ground below before delivering a swift, impactful stomp to his neck, crushing the life out of his eyes. Another soldier charged, her fists wrapped in magic. Amittai dodged each attempted strike, occasionally landing a counter punch before a punch to her jaw unsettled her enough for Amittai to finish his assault, dashing forwards with a boney hand around her neck and a quick twist of the wrist, snapping her neck in an instant. "Now, who's next?" Amittai asked, goading on his set of foes.

Scorpio, at this point, was merely playing with his prey. He was halfheartedly dancing between his foes, tripping them with a spear swipe to the legs, knocking them off balance before quickly turning his spear within the air to parry an incoming attack. Magical assaults were met with quickly rising walls of sand, crushing any attempt at defeating the Zodiac, who was almost bored with the situation, despite facing more foes than any of the other spirits. "Can't you guys give me a challenge, or at least a cute girl or two? I mean, honestly, this is kinda boring!" he taunted as he danced through the squadron of soldiers, slicing them down with ease as he yammered on, his jaw jacking continuing to taunt his helpless foes.

Atsuai was, much in the same way, clearing her opponents with ease, each foe receiving a well placed arrow to their jugular, her clearing her foes with ease, dismantling these supposed elite guards with a single arrow each. Her infinite stack of arrows continued to replenish as she struck out more and more at the foes ahead, all the while letting her serpents do work of their own upon the field, biting at the ankles of foes that Atsuai was unconcerned with or otherwise pumping them full of venom. She smirked as they continued to fall, one by one, at his hand. "I do wonder how the rest of the mortals are doing. Od-chan I'm not worried about, but I've never seen that Faustein fellow in combat myself, nor have I seen Seika, well, ever looking like that. It's awfully convenient that they're all so willing to join us in for this moment. Well, I trust in Od-chan's judgement. After all, someone as cute as him oughtn't be wrong about much. Well, I'd like to think so, at least. Oh well. I suppose I should do my own work. I can't let the rest of the Spirits beat me. I do hope they're counting their kills. I wonder who'll have the most by end of the night..."

Arnaluuk thrust her trident through the weak leather armor of the guard before her, pointing it at the ground as pillars of ice burst forth from the ground, impaling some and merely chilling others to the bone. She withdrew her spear from the guard, holding it aloft and chanting in an ancient language as the faintest hint of a blizzard began to slowly form around her. A small squad of soldiers were trapped within a magic circle as hail began to rain from the sky around them, cracking against their skulls until, before long, corpses were hampering the retreat of those others around them, and slowly the squad had been entirely decimated and slaughtered, their corpses finally spilling out from the extents of the magic circle that they were trapped in. Arnaluuk danced her way around an axe strike, cutting across their gut before smashing the hilt of her staff into another would be attacker, sending him crumbling to the ground. Arnaluuk swiftly delivered a punt to his head, finally ending him. She looked around to see the bevy of bodies her and her fellow Spirits had accumulated, not even mentioning those that Lupa, Odhran, and the others from Elysium would have done. A soft smile rose to her face as she prepared to fight her next opponents.

Lupa and Odhran had redirected themselves to the front of the villa itself, where three much stronger foes sat. The largest of the bunch immediately challenged the Keybearer to a duel while the other two went to handle "the dog," as they said, Lupa quickly bounding away from her Master to let the battle begin. The two similar-looking foes fired bolts of lightning and wind at the pterolykos, who dodged them as if they were nothing, her tail wagging and her tongue panting. Lupa wanted to play, and she was going to get her way, no matter what. Another series of bolts flew by, which Lupa gracefully rolled out of the way of before charging her front paws with earth and fire and stomping on the ground playfully, sending charges of miniature volcanoes rising towards the duo, engulfing them in flames before she charged forwards, switching her paws to water and wind, and battering one in the face with both, sending him crashing through the building. The other staggered back before Lupa pounced upon him as well, letting a fire-coated tongue lick her prey as she played with him, scalding his face as she toyed around.

"Look, I just want to hold some people hostage. Is that really that big of a deal?" Odhran asked as the beefy man swung his magic-imbued axe around. Odhran dodged out of the way with ease, occasionally darting an arm back as it morphed into a sharp spike, impaling passersby casually. Finally, he cartwheeled backwards as the skeletal structure that was the Hallow's Phantom materialized into form, catching the axehead with ease. "Oh, you haven't met him yet? Honestly, no idea where I found him. Some weird fellow with a messed up face kinda stumbled into Sin mostly dead and I may or may not have stolen a lacrima from his lungs and now I got this big boy. Well, yeah. This is Hallow's Phantom. Say hi!" Neither the foe nor the Hallow's Phantom responded. Well, not with words, at least. Hallow's Phantom's eyes lit up and fired a light blue laser, exploding the big boy into a big icicle. Odhran smirked at this, letting his hand morph into a giant hammer and smashing the icicle. As he wandered towards the entrance to the villa, he called out, hoping his cohorts would hear, "Alright! Seika! Faustein! You take either the wife of the Representative man or the daughter! I'll go after mister big hat himself! Happy hunting!" With that call, he skipped into the house, ready to capture his prey.

Seika blinked at the words coming from the mad scientist. "Ehh? We're new members to Elysium? That sounds cool!" She craned her neck up to look at Aphelia, who was still holding her very unamusedly. "No, Seika. No we are not," the feline spirit, currently in the form of a human, was unimpressed. "Ohh, okay! No, Faust, we're not new members of the guild! Um.. oh, look, Oddie's talking!" Completely dropping the subject of whatever cereal database the other mage was talking about, she paid as much attention to their leader mage as possible. It was difficult, admittedly, because focusing on what Odhran Aegisbane said during his long, word count induced rants, was a lot to unpack. Um... from what she could understand, though, he was saying that they needed to go to the Representative's house. Which we already knew, Aphelia told her irritably. Pay attention to the parts we don't know, how about that? Flashing her friend a bright smile, Seika nodded. "Mhm! So... we're going to hold the hostage? Okay! I love holding people," the mage wondered if the Representative would be a nice person to hug. Sometimes, hugs with strangers were weird, like if they were mean or trying to kill her. However, this situation wouldn't be like that, right? The girl had a lot of confidence that her mentor wouldn't try to bring them into any area that was dangerous. "Okay, we'll do that whole thingy!" Seika clapped in agreement. Odhran didn't even really seem to know what was going on specifically with the notes or council, so she figured it wasn't important to focus on the details.

"Let's hold our peace! I like the sound of that," Seika cheered in the end of his long winded speech. However, even though he had seemed to be nodding at her words, perhaps it was just a mistaken movement of his head in the girl's brain. After all, he completely ignored everything she had said so far in reply to his own words. Maybe he was tired? Yeah, that had to have been it! Beaming, Seika wiggled around in Aphelia's warms. "Aphii, put me down! I wanna go with Lupa!" She pouted, and when the spirit looked away pointedly, the expression intensified. "Aphiiiiii!" Unfortunately for Seika, her opportunity to take a ride with Lupa disappeared as their mentor took to the air. Either way, Aphelia hadn't been about to let her bond mate fly off with a giant wolf bat. That was just a ludicrous idea. Huffing at the mere concept of being so reckless, the spirit also flew up, her wings beating powerfully as they followed Odhran. He seemed to be in good spirits, just like always, honestly. Seika watched him as he began to rummage through his pockets. She thought he might have been looking for food? After all, she was feeling really hungry at this moment. Instantaneous travel always seemed to both suck all of the food stores out of her stomach and also make her regurgitate anything that was currently inside. It was a double whammy. The mage thought about offering Odhran some food, and she was about to shout out to him when he made a noise of words. Though they were names, at least, she heard Lupa and Atsuai among them, it seemed to be a random jumble. Rain upon them? Ooh, was it time to make it rain? Seika beamed brightly at that idea, waving her arms out over the town they were flying above. Bubbles showered from her finger tips, turning into smaller drops of liquid filled vesicles that plummeted towards the ground.

Among the bunch of magical droplets that she scattered, Seika paused when her eyes trailed over a very distinct shape. "Wait... that Atsuai??" Blinking rapidly, she thought she saw Amittai down there, too. There were spirits on the ground! Their spirits, and everything. "Woah..." the mage tried to wave to Amittai, but he seemed to be busy, pounding his fist in the ground or something like that. "Wow, I think he left behind a crater! Look over there, Aphi! So cool! I wanna do that, Aphi, can we go down?" She wriggled slightly in the spirit's arms, waiting to be let go. "You want me to drop you?" The spirit growled, trying to tighten her hold. Even if she did threaten to just straight up let the girl hurtle to the ground, Aphelia would never have followed through on her threats. After all, her bond mate would just be far too happy to be sent soaring to the ground to become a Seika Splat. "Yes! Please drop me!" Exactly. The girl intook a breath of air and then blew it out of her nostrils, trying to stay calm. Her hat was blocking a great deal of her vision, but she could still see Odhran up ahead, leading them to the mission site. It was best to just ignore Seika for now. The mage in question, though, was making her life very difficult. Struggling to get out of her grip, she was oohing and aaahing at the sight underneath the flying group of travelers. Once in a while, meaning like every other second, she would point out something the spirits were doing. Their falls by themselves had been so cool! Seika was still in awe from the way Arnaluuk had been all shiny and like, snowy. It reminded her of that time she was on the bunch of glaciers with Hinata. Boy, that had been fun. And when Atsuai landed- like, she had so many snakes! "Aphi, can we get a pet snake?" Seika asked offhandedly, her eyes still trained on the spirits beneath them.

"No." That had been the reply she expected, but it still stung a little bit to be shot down so quickly. Pouting, Seika crossed her arms in petulance. "Hmph! Meanie Aphi," the mage said, but she was already immersed in watching the fights below. She couldn't really hear them, but they appeared to be talking among themselves. Was that... Scorpio? Seika blinked as he along with the other spirits began to form a little group huddle, except reverse. There must have been a word or something said, because that was really cool! It was like, a synchronized dance routine move almost, but for battle instead of the sport. Although, battle could be considered a sport. Seika wondered if the spirits practiced doing this together in their celestial realm. Shaking her head away from those speculations, Seika focused on what Scorpio was doing. He seemed to be using a spear, aiming it at their feet or knees or something like that. Seika cheered him on, even though he seemed to be rather bored. Suddenly, she saw a barrier of sand erupt from the ground, blocking a nearby shot of brightly colored light from a Rune Knight. It was so cool! Was he controlling them unconsciously? The girl tapped a finger against her chin, wondering to herself the situation. He was saying something, but she couldn't hear from up here. Whatever it was, the guards he was fighting seemed to be getting more and more angry as a result. She turned her attention away from Scorpio, since he seemed to just be going on and on, doing his own thing. Even though he didn't talk as much as Odhran usually did, he tended to say stuff that the other spirits told her to ignore. So naturally, Seika usually did.

Moving on, she saw Atsuai doing really well! There were lots of people around her, as well as her serpents. They were so pretty! Everyone seemed to be getting shot by arrows, though. Maybe it was bad luck to be around her, like, she was blessed by Cupid or something like that. And since he loved her, she couldn't be around any other people or else he would get jealous? That sounded like it made sense. Turning her attention away from Atsuai, she watched Ami, who was maybe her favorite spirit. Well, Seika didn't have favorites! Except Lupa, maybe. But anyway, Ami had a super special place in her heart. Along with Noel! Since, they had been the first spirits to greet her, and they were just the cutest. She watched with bated breath as Ami fought off a patrol of enemies, covering the area with his magic. It was so interesting to watch him fight, because he was super precise about it! It was amazing. She held her breath again when he was about to get sliced by the blade of one of his attackers, but she shouldn't have worried. It was with a great deal of ease that he managed to dodge it before slamming his foot against the enemy's stomach. Seika herself winced at that; it looked like the kind of hit that really knocked the air out of someone, and she understood that. There were tons of people trying to rush at him, magic swirling around the area, but it was difficult to see the individuals. She couldn't tell exactly what the dark mist was supposed to be doing, but it sure did make the space difficult to look through. Peering around, the girl tried to pierce through the atmosphere, but she managed to at least see that Ami had killed someone. Woah, he had done it so quickly! It was like, a snap like a piece of bark. Speaking of bark, Seika was so hungry. Sap made really good syrup, eventually. And she wanted honey. They were both so good.

Her eyes were wide as she watched Arnaluuk basically spear the soldiers like fish. She was a kind of sea monster queen! Super cool. Seika wondered if there were ways that she could freeze her bubbles more easily, and then she could fall with the ice around her like the spirit had. The snow falling around her was just so pretty. Furthermore, the blizzard around them was so lovely, and with the way it swirled around, she just wanted to go play in there! In her own mind, Seika wondered if she could draw the same magic circles. If that were true, then she could have her own little snowflakes and everything! Smiling, Seika hadn't even realized that by then, the fight was rather far away. Aphelia set her down on a roof top, where she watched Lupa and Odhran as they stormed the villa as a team. It was really cute to watch! Lupa was just the bestest dog ever, with her adorable tail, wagging the entire time. And she made fire everywhere! Seika loved fire. There were tons of elements, actually. But it also made the girl jealous to see the dog lick someone else's face. Seika wanted fire kisses from Lupa... she made an irritated noise, putting her hands on the banister. Wait, the banister? Without realizing it, Aphelia had been slowly moving the two using magic, the mage still technically on her feet upright but hovering over the ground. Propelled by a bunch of sparkles, she was moving slowly further into the villa through a roof top that had been left open for design aesthetics' sakes. From farther away, she heard Odhran say something. "Ehh? Oddie? What was that?" He was so far... she turned to Aphelia, who gave her a look somewhere between disdainful and pitiful. "Let's get the daughter." Hopefully their friend Faust would be able to get ahold of the wife.

"FOR MAD SCIENCE!! TIME TO GET EXCITED, YOU GUYS."

Faustein had arrived and after greeting Seika and Odhran, he had been surveying the landscape while waiting for them to say their respective pieces. For his part Odhran had explained the plan of action for the job at hand and then instructed Faustein to ready himself in order to handle the technological aspect of the job, aka setting up the broadcast feed, making sure the video lacrima recorded the broadcast correctly, ensuring the transmission was not hijacked by troublemaking hackers from the Magic Council and so on. So, at the end of that long-winded rant, Faustein had simply nodded and replied

    Understood.

Then, he had briefly turned his attention to Seika and Aphelia, both of whom had revealed their identities to him and clarified that they were not new members, but rather just their old selves with a new external form. So, he had nodded to them as well with a similar reply to the one he gave Odhran before.

    I see.

After that little conversation came to an end, the job was officially greenlighted by Odhran who had headed off in the direction of the residence of their targets, aka Representative Thompson and his family. Faustein then followed suit and entered the situation several paces behind so as to not get caught up in the chaos of the impending battle until it was absolutely necessary. He then watched as Odhran summoned his spirits, a few of which were vaguely familiar to him since he had met them during his introduction to the guild some time ago when he first came into the fold. The spirits put on quite the show of carnage and destruction, though Faustein beheld the whole thing without so much as flinching, well almost anyway. The only thing which had made him flinch was the sight of Lupa, aka Odhran’s so called puppy spirit which was in reality a giant monstrous beast of a bat winged wolf, one that was unleashed upon Faustein as part of his A-class rank up exam recently. Faustein actually winced as he watched Lupa scorch her enemies with various flame attacks and even lick one of them with a flaming tongue, all the while looking as though she was merely playing around.

Note to self: Avoid contact with Lupa at all costs as far as is possible in this situation.

However, after musing thus silently, he quickly rearranged his facial expression into his usual nonplussed, impassive, inscrutable one and continued to watch the body count rise quickly as the group continued to make their way towards the destination. Along the way, his ears also picked up the sound of Seika protesting to Aphelia that she wanted to accompany Lupa instead, much to Aphelia’s annoyance which only seemed to grow as Seika rambled on ever more tangentially, even going so far as to ask Aphelia whether they could recruit a serpent familiar of some sort.

How does she have the energy to converse so much? Women are truly the eternal mystery of the universe, to be sure.

Faustein wondered as he followed along, but then somewhere along the way, he had heard some of Odhran’s spirits question his abilities which greatly irked him, although it was not shown on his face which remained its usual impassive, inscrutable self. Still, he surmised it was only right that he did show some of his capabilities too. Fortunately, the chance presented itself to him before too long as some of the guardsmen and Rune Knights on patrol around the representative’s residence came charging towards him as well. So he had activated one of his favorite barrier spells, this one being “Body Manipulation Art: Need Hair Cocoon” before they got within range and then kept advancing towards them, with his hands in the pockets of his formal pants and with the tail end of his long physician-scientist’s white lab coat fluttering dramatically behind him. This guard and Rune Knight group which numbered about 20 strong overall, had surrounded him, obviously thinking they had the advantage, and then had charged towards him once more to close the distance.

This lot is truly one composed of imbeciles, charging at their enemy with neither rhyme nor reason guiding their actions, how troublesome indeed.

He was not worried, of course because his barrier had a surprise waiting for all of them. So, he merely yawned, stretched and watched with a bored expression on his visage. No sooner than they had come within 100 m of his position which was currently inside a giant translucent dome like structure made from his hair and which had long sharp spikes on it, said spikes had fired in a 360 degree rapid-fire needle hailstorm, impaling every one of the 20 attackers in vital areas and even blew them backwards several meters where they crashed unceremoniously to the ground in a circular pattern and laid there bleeding until they met their untimely and rather gory end, looking like human porcupines and having more puncture wounds in their bodies than a wheel of Swiss cheese had holes. After that, Faustein had moved on without even sparing them a single glance. Soon, the group managed to reach the residence of the representative and so, headed inside after Odhran instructed each of them with their tasks. Faustein’s was of course to retrieve the representative’s wife and so, he nodded and headed off in search of her. Of course, he had a simple way of detecting her location, but he would not use it just yet.

After all, why must there be such a rush to complete the job? A hunter must relish the thrill of the chase, after all.

Faustein mused silently with his impassive, inscrutable face momentarily twisting into one of pure, cold sadism and diabolical evil. His malicious intent and currently bloodlust filled mindset expanded outward in a noxious aura of sorts for some distance away from his body and caused all the lights in the residence, definitely the ones in his particular location, but also perhaps the ones near about Odhran as well as those in proximity to Seika and Aphelia to flicker ominously while the temperature in the area dropped several degrees below baseline before returning to normal.

At the very least, the other members of Elysium seemed to know how to properly listen to orders and delegations of tasks from their Ace. Odhran smirked at this as he entered the house, scanning the area for the location of his quarry, the Representative himself. Seika and Faustein would hopefully be able to clear out gathering the other two members of the family, leaving the true hero of the operation to seek out the truly important one here. Importance for importance, that was what mattered.

Odhran extended an arm out, letting his imagination run wild as his arms were wrapped in a set of black armor, fully capturing his body in the new, more intimidating look. He allowed Hallow's Phantom to loom over him as he stalked the halls, letting the Phantom scan as he himself kept an ear to the ground in search of Thompson. "Heeeeeere boy," Odhran called, his voice losing its usual whimsical tone, it being replaced with the tolls of malice and hatred and, perhaps in a word, pure evil. "Don't worry, we're not going to hurt you. Truuuuuust me! All I want to do is talk about a few things with your peers. You know, all those lovely people that voted you into power? Well I have some words I'd like to tell them, and I need some way to just... grab their attentions, you know?" A manic laugh escaped his lips. "Oh, and I'm not lying about not hurting you. Your death will be painless. I'll ensure it. Graphic, of course, but awful painless." His arms extended once more. "Perhaps you're just scared that it's only me and my little buddy here. Well, well well well well well, I can oblige. Go fetch him, Loki."

Pooling up from what could only be best described as ink from the floor, rose the creature Odhran called "Loki." A crimson blade was the first to emerge, before the clawed hands of the black and white speckled creature crawled out, before the lanky, fifteen foot tall hunter had emerged, seeking out their prey. "Trust me, I know how wonderful magic is. Magic allows for me to simply manifest a creature like this from nothing but the deepest recesses of my mind! Isn't he lovely? All those people that are being cut down by your order? Magic is causing that. I surely understand your plight, but in a world created by Elysium we can't just accept some sort of filthy prejudiced garbage like you. No, letting people with magic be the only ones with power is far too simple. Only our magic is valid, Thompson! Only Elysium matters, can't you understand? Our world needs those without magic to work, and work they shall! They'll work in building our statues! Building our glory! CREATING OUR PARADISE!"

At the end of his call, he flared his arms out, his right morphing into a sharp spike that burst through a number of walls, impaling an business suited man in the neck, sending him slumping to the ground. The other suited man fired a number of shots at Odhran, who merely turned and ignored them, Hallow's Phantom absorbing the blows with the sides of his bony arms.  As the man reloaded his pistol, Loki burst through the walls of his own, impaling him on his much broader sword before grabbing the Representative with a clawed, mangled hand and tossing him haphazardly at Odhran, Thompson's injured body rolling to the feet of the Ace of Elysium. "I knoooow you heard me, Thompson." Odhran said with a smirk, looking into the fearful green eyes of the family man before him. He retracted his falsely long arm before picking up the man by the throat with one hand, lifting him off the ground. "My, you seem to have put on a bit of weight. Getting fat off of your success? Don't worry, my cohorts will be here soon enough to reunite you with your family. You won't be separated long, whether or not you're alive."

His mouth quivered in fear, whether at the Phantom or at the Ace, it did not matter. "W-Who put you up to the task? I-I'll pay you double what they are to keep at least my daughter alive! Please!"

Odhran feigned contemplation, placing his hand on his chin. "Honestly, I don't really care about the money. I don't care who put me up to this. I do this because I want to. I do this because the world needs a little bit more fear in it, doesn't it? People have been sitting around complacent in this flawed world. They have these supposed heroes to protect them, when they just need to learn to protect themselves. Well, try to. My whims are absolute. Elysium is absolute, so who pays us now is of little importance. What matters is that this gives us a further step towards our new world, one where unimportant bugs like you are dead. Useless. Worth less than the dirt beneath my feet. No, less than the dirt. I can create the life of the world with dirt, while you are useless to me. But you need to live for now. Come on, let's reunite you with your family."

Still gripping the man in his hand with a single hand, he marched to where he had appointed them to meet up, though he had just realized he had forgotten to tell them the entire plan. He shrugged, trusting in his two mentees to learn quickly enough as he marched the Representative to a dining room on the first floor of the villa, placing a burlap sack over his head and wrapping a strand of rope to his neck and along his arms and legs, rendering him immobile. As Seika and Faustein would enter, Odhran greeted them with a cheery "We're almost ready to go live! I'm so nervous, I'm a bit camera shy and I need to make sure I look good!" He tied up the mother and daughter much the same way as he waited for Seika and Faustein to take care of their own business on the matter and work upon their own tasked preparations.

"The daughter?? Okay, let's go, Aphi! Hurry up! You're so slow!" That was the last words Seika would utter for a little while. From there on, everything became chaos. As the mage tried to pull her friend into a nearby room to see if the daughter was hiding inside of there, her world exploded into a cacophony of light and sounds. Suddenly, she thought the planet was turning off of its axis and careening off into space. At least, it sure felt like that. Seika had no idea what was happening, but Aphelia could see it all clearly. From her vantage point as a spirit who was not as affected by physical attacks, the blinding effect had only persisted for a fraction of the time it prevented Seika from understanding what was happening. There was a mage standing in the middle of the hallway, pointing a staff at the two of them. Even though he or she was dressed very informally, Aphelia could feel the power radiating off of them. As she drew nearer, her eyes wide in an attempt to make it seem like she was still blind, the spirit could tell that he was shaking with adrenaline. Despite his skill, it seemed like he was generally unfamiliar with actual combat. Likely he was not a proper bodyguard, but more of a nanny. Wait he? Aphelia tried to pin point when she had concluded that it was a male. Whatever, it was irrelevant. She continued to feign blindness until she was at a decent enough distance away from him. Even though they were technically intruders, he showed a great deal of hesitation when it came to attacking her. Now that she seemed to be subdued and wandering around with her arms out in front of her like a zombie, he didn't want to attack any further. She snorted inside her head. Goody two shoes. It would bite him in the butt later. Or rather, now.

Suddenly, Aphelia whipped her arm out towards him, shooting a bright stream of sparks directly at his face that burned at his skin, melting it around his eyes until he was well and truly blinded. From there it was a quick step that had her transforming into a snowy tiger and leaping towards the man- well, he was really more of a boy to be honest. She unsheathed her claws and went to town on him until what was left was unrecognizable. Meanwhile, Seika was still stumbling around, trying to figure out why the world was spinning. She called out to her bond mate through their link, but the feline scoffed before padding away, her tail whipping angrily through the air. Even if she had a patently perfected disregard for Seika's safety, she still cared deeply about the girl and couldn't help but feel anxious or... well, maybe that was too strong of a word. Aphelia couldn't help but be a little bit extra peeved when her friend was out of sorts. Their job was to recover the girl safe and sound, and that required being gentle with her. After all, she was what, a six year old? That was about half of Seika's age. Hopefully the mage would be able to contain her enthusiasm for children and all things adorable and cute. Or actually, a better idea would be to just fetch the child while the mage herself was incapacitated. Nodding at this plan, the spirit morphed back into her Sibylline, human form before beginning to step over to the nearest door way. There were heavy oak slabs blocking direct vision of seeing what was inside, but it would be a simple enough task to just open all of them. Likely some magic might be involved, but Aphelia had had more strenuous and less tedious jobs to do before. She thought she heard murmuring from the corner and whipped around, her silver hair slapping across her back as her the brim of her hat dipped slowly, but then she realized that it was just Seika. Sighing, Aphelia headed over to see what she was saying.

Absolutely nothing, apparently. Only gibberish came out of the mage's mouth, and the spirit shoved her hat farther onto her head before rolling her eyes. She turned away and back to the matter at hand. Right, figuring out where that little girl was. There hadn't really been a proper description associated with the command to go find her. However, Aphelia had done some research before hand so that she could be more aware of what person they were seeking out. Her hair color closely resembled the mother's and her features were similar to both of them, or at least vaguely related in that they were all the same race. Honestly, the most helpful thing was the picture. Aphelia squinted at the little print out she had in her hand. It was better than any written description, even if some things had changed, as they undoubtedly always did for little kids who grew up so quickly. Even with the time difference, then, between now and when that family photo had been taken, it was still a helpful guide. Or would be, at least. First she had to actually find anyone who looked like they could possibly be under the age of ten, which wasn't an easy feat. Except for other play mates of the Representative's daughter, or maybe servants' children, the first little girl they saw would probably be the right one. Unless there was a sleep over or a bunch of female children running around in the man's house a muck. Sighing slightly, Aphelia shoved open the first door. It swung inward without much trouble; even if the wood had been heavy, that also meant that she didn't need to lean in or put any pressure like a hand to make sure it stayed open while she glanced inside. Nothing. It did seem to be a room for either an adult or a very mature or... underprivileged? Something like that, kid. There were little to no decorations that seemed to be for youth, and no toys were in sight.

Shutting the door, Aphelia continued to do the same routine until she finally opened a door almost at the end of the series of hallways, but not quite in the corner nor at the position of the last doorway. Inside was a little girl, the first she had encountered actually. And much to her relief, she resembled the one from that family photo the Representative had taken with his wife and daughter a year or so ago. It seemed like the daughter had not actually spotted the spirit yet, so she quickly changed into the shape of the man she had killed just a little bit ago. Walking inside with an urgent expression on her face, Aphelia said, "Miss, we need to go. Follow me," before stepping over and reaching out to offer a hand. She had no idea how he acted normally, but she was sure that in a situation of emergency like this, even if they had protocols in place, everything kind of went flying out the window. Including normal behavior. Thankfully, she nodded and took Aphelia's hand without any further complaint. In fact, she looked scared. Thank god the spirit had no sympathy for kids any more than for adults, for the most part at least. Otherwise, she might have even been moved by how terrified she looked on account of the attack. There were still very clearly sounds of fighting outside. But that wasn't really Aphelia's concern. She led the daughter out of her room and back into the main part of the house, looking around in annoyance as she realized that Odhran had said nothing about where they were to deliver the daughter or mother. It only took another five minutes of searching, though, to spot them inside the doorway that seemed to belong to a dining hall of sorts? Snorting at the lavish interior, Aphelia roughly shoved the girl in through the doorway before turning away. She and Seika looked so similar in these forms that she wouldn't have been surprised if anyone mistook them for each other. It wasn't any of her business what they did with the girl now, and she had no intention to play babysitter and stay around and watch after the daughter. After all, the spirit had to find her bond mate and... well, play babysitter for Seika. The girl was probably still wandering around trying to figure out if the stars were falling and that was why it was bright.

"FOR MAD SCIENCE!! TIME TO GET EXCITED, YOU GUYS."

Faustein along with the disturbing aura of malice and sadism which he had surrounded himself with had made their way through the mansion, causing the maids therein to flee in fear or just faint and fall over, knocked out cold along the way. It took him a while to find the room the Representative Thompson’s wife was hiding in given the mansion’s vastness, which caused him to grumble silently

How tiresome, it would be FAR easier and more efficient if she were to come to me rather than me having to search for her in this tedious manner. Perhaps my Diagnoscope spell will expedite this process.

He mused silently and then extended his hands outward while holding them in a roughly diamond shape and concentrated his mana in the space between them to form a targeting reticule hologram in the space. Then he beamed some of the concentrated mana outward onto each of the rooms he came across on that floor, creating a 3D high resolution image of the contents of each room on the targeting reticule hologram. This maneuver was his “Medical Art: Diagnoscope” spell in action and it allowed him to visualize the interiors of the rooms without actually entering them and exposing himself to unnecessary risk of an ambush attack by the enemies who may be protecting his target. However, it was to no avail, as she was not in any of the rooms he had found thus far.

However, he did encounter ever more opposition as he went through the mansion in the form of guards who were posted at regular intervals, presumably to protect his target, the wife of the representative.

Halt! You shall NOT pass, intruder!!

The first squad of four guards had announced when they saw him coming towards them, so he sighed in exasperation and retorted

What are you lot supposed to be anyway, the Gandalf Appreciation Society? How pathetic, indeed.

Needless to say, the guards looked confused which told him that they obviously had no other purpose in life but to be guards and thus had not had much of a childhood or the chance to indulge in pop culture enjoyment either.

These men are truly pitiable, but a contract is a contract and far be it from me to renege on it.

Musing thus silently, he activated his “Medical Art: Defibrillator Palm” spell which caused his hands to glow and electric blue and then a mass of blindingly bright electrical charge gathered in them. After that, thanks to one of the unique abilities of his magic, namely “Forbidden Physician’s Ability: Malleable Physique”, he was able to stretch his arms out and strike each of the guards with his electrified palms which carried a charge equal in power to that of a defibrillator which was normally used to restart or reset a patient’s cardiac rhythm. Thanks to that, the guards became nothing more than charred corpses after a few seconds and thus, dropped like flies one after another. Upon impact, there was also a deafening crackling sound which resembled that of 1000 birds chirping simultaneously and this noise echoed audibly throughout the mansion, so perhaps Seika and Odhran may have heard it if their ears were sensitive enough.

Then, he continued onward, and faced more squads of guards, but his progress did not slow in the least as he burned, electrocuted, slashed and strangulated his way through them all, and at by the end, his once pristine white lab coat was now stained with blood, soot, and other remains of his dead enemies. Ultimately though, he came upon a room with a suspiciously thick and heavy looking door and upon his approach, he could hear scrambling inside as though the occupant had heard him coming and was now desperately searching for a hiding place. So, he tried to use his “Medical Art: Diagnoscope” spell to peer inside, but for some reason, his X-ray vision way being blocked out.

So then, this door and the walls of the room must be lead-lined with a rather thick layer. In that case…

He mused silently and then activated his “Medical Art: Xénosómectomy” spell which was one that allowed him to teleport anywhere he pleased, but it usually required the prior successful use of the “Medical Art: Diagnoscope” spell, so in this case, it would be a tricky maneuver

Usually the Diagnoscope spell is needed for this, but perhaps this can be an experimental investigation into the possibility of this spell’s usage and the results thereafter without the usual preamble.

With that thought in mind, he let the spell take effect and surprisingly enough, it actually did succeed even without the successful use of his “Medical Art: Diagnoscope” spell and thus, he was able to teleport right through the door and into the room being guarded by it. There, he finally found his quarry, aka Representative Thompson’s wife who was now cowering and trying to back away from him. Alas, as she did, her back came up against the far wall of the room and thus she had nowhere else to flee, which made Faustein’s job much easier. Without a word, he activated his “Medical Art: Mana Threads - Strangulating Ligature” spell which generated visible dense threads composed of mana condensed into ethernano, with each having the consistency of piano wire. Then, he sent these at the woman before him and wrapped them around her neck tightly, not enough to slice her head off, but just enough to terrify her into submission with the threat of excruciating death by asphyxiation. Then, he directed the threads of his other hand towards her wrists and bound them before dragging her out of the room, down the hallway and finally to the dining room where he had presumed that Odhran was located currently. Upon entry, Faustein handed over the wife to Odhran and then set about working on the setup of the LacrimaTek equipment needed for the broadcast.

Thanks to him being conversant with such technology and indeed all manner of various technologies, it did not take him very long to set up the system after which he called Odhran over, since by now the man must have had enough time to get ready as he had pointed out to Faustein upon his entry into the dining room.

Equipment setup is complete. We are ready to begin recording and broadcasting whenever you and our prisoners are all ready for the silver screen.

He said and then fell silent, waiting for Odhran’s reaction and response and perhaps even further instructions as to what to do next in the mission. Somehow, he had a feeling that this seemed much too easy a task and that there may perhaps be something more than what met the eye to the defenses which were meant to protect the representative and his family, and so, he kept his wits about him and all of his equipment at the ready for any unforeseen moves by the enemy.

    1. Faustein gets the message about the job with Odhran and Seika and after preparing himself adequately, he uses his spacetime chronometer called IIC to teleport himself from Magnolia Town to Era which is the site of the job and has the pre-job rendezvous with them.

    2. Faustein listens to instructions from Odhran and converses briefly with Seika and Aphelia before watching Odhran’s summoned spirits make quick work of the patrolling guards. Faustein gets attacked by the remaining survivors but slaughters them with his “Body Manipulation Art: Needle Hair Cocoon” before moving into the representative’s house and indulging in some killing intent manifestation in preparation of his hunt of the representative’s wife.

    3. Faustein mows down a series of guards with his spell combinations and eventually finds and retrieves the representative’s wife after which he heads to the dining room and gives her to Odhran. Then, he sets up the recording and broadcasting equipment and then waits for Odhran to begin the show, all the while standing at the ready for any surprise attacks by the enemy.

Odhran smiled at the good work that his assistants provided, bringing both the daughter and the wife to the elaborate room, where Odhran, too, ensnared them as he prepared the broadcast. He dragged the two other members of Elysium in before speaking. ""This is a pirated broadcast, playing all over Fiore.  To the men and women of the Magic Council and all of Fiore.  I am state your name and I represent the Black Blood Brotherhood.  For too long have we, the men and women of Fiore, suffered the hand of the Magic Council and all of the mages under their control.  They are reckless and they don't care for the safety of those that cannot use magic.  The mages under their control kill our children with no repercussion. This is where you pull off the burlap sacks from over the Thompsons' head. This is Representative Thompson and his family.  He is pushing a bill to grant Magic Users full power over those that cannot use magic.  This bill he is trying to pass is oppressive and goes against the freedoms that everyone is entitled to have.  If you wish to save the life of Representative Thompson and his family, you will retract that bill.  We also demand the disbarring of all Legal Guilds from the Magic Council's control and the surrender of the Magic Council.  If these demands are not met, we will begin killing Representative Thompson's family one by one, starting with the wife, then the daughter, and then Representative Thompson himself.  You have two hours." He tossed the cue card away, before coming to some realizations. "Oh, right. Had a few things to take care of with that, didn't I? Well, honestly I don't really care. Apparently those are our clients? Huh. Maybe I should've paid attention to that. Well, whatever. I'm Odhran Aegisbane, and these are my fellow guildmates, Faustein Kuroyakushi and Taneda Akies, and we're just here to do a little bit more than that. Instead, I would like to talk to you about our lord and savior, me, Odhran Aegisbane. So basically, I'm a really big deal, and I want you all to listen to me. To show you I mean business, I captured these people! Isn't that lovely? Well, either way, what matters is that I've got a few things of my own to talk about. First off, I want people to really know me well, so I'll just state my name again, Odhran Aegisbane. Got it? Good. I'm a Coming Storm here in Fiore, so you all better know it well and not forget it, especially when I become a Warlord. Not if, when. As for these other two... I mean they're alright. They're not me, but they listen well enough and aren't just lackeys. Anyways, while I was just paid to say those things, I got some more things to say on top of that. The Council's pretty lame, you know. Bunch of stuck-up hoighty toighty dudes and chicks trying to keep the peace. Well, they're not exactly doing a great job. I mean, I was able to just walk in here, murder a couple dozen faceless redshirts, and capture someone important. I mean, they tried to stop me, but I'm Odhran Aegisbane, and I'm the literal best. Wouldn't you want whoever's keeping the peace to be some sort of great and wonderful leader, like myself? Because trust me, when we create our new world, we'll be the ones that will hold everything else to our standards. We're going to demand that you work your best for the benefit of us! After all, someone like me can't possibly be wrong about anything! Well, I think I've talked for long enough. So, Council people, you should probably get to work. Something something retract a bill something something disband legal guilds, but most importantly make sure you recognize my name and put me on all the wanted posters or just make me a Warlord or something. Honestly, I don't mind." He smiled, before turning his gaze to Faust. "Uh can you turn off the camera? I don't know how to work it." After he had done so, Odhran took a seat upon one of the chairs and rested his feet up. "Now we just wait. Faust, just make sure to come back in like two hours to turn the camera back on. Seika, you can do whatever. Wait! I got an idea!" He clapped his fingers and Lupa barreled through the wall, wagging her tail as she went to play with Seika, Faust looking strangely perturbed by it. Oh well, certainly he would get an opportunity to play with Lupa later. With that and the returning of his Spirits to the Celestial Spirit Realm, Odhran began his relaxation in earnest.

The next two hours were surprisingly boring. Odhran had taken to playing darts in the dining room, getting a perfect bullseye every time. Finally, Faust returned to turn the camera back on, Odhran being all by himself. "Oh, it's already been two hours? Well, uh... this is a bit awkward. I was kind of expecting there to be a response by now. Well, it's whatever. Honestly I don't much care. Well, I think the cue card told me that I was supposed to have massacred everyone by now, but I'm feeling nice today, so I'm just gonna kill one of them. Here, let's spin the wheel!" Saying this, he extended an arm, revealing a wheel with equal wedges marking the wife, daughter, and Representative himself. He spun the wheel, excited to see the results, and was excited when the spinner landed on the wife. "Oooh, our first prize, behind door number one, is Misses Representative Thompson. Sucks to be you, doesn't it? Well, it's fine! I like this game, this is a fun game. I haven't really thought this through, but for the daughter and the Representative himself, I'll leave the method of execution up to a fan vote, but think of the most creative thing you can! The vote will be up in a few minutes, let me just get this execution done reeeeeeal quick!" He got up from his relaxed pose, walking over to the wife and pulling the sack off of her head. He saw the fear in her eyes and honestly felt a little bit bad, but not bad enough to warrant not going through with the execution. Thinking through what he should do, he morphed his left arm into a fleshy chainsaw, letting it rev up before slicing off the wife's left arm. She screamed in pain as blood poured upon the ground. Because of the way she was tied up, her right arm was now free, and she tried to make an attempt to strike Odhran, who rebuffed it by his own right arm morphing into a jaw and biting the other arm off before he kicked her down. Finally, he raised both arms into the air, them morphing into a giant hammer, before he smashed it down upon her, ending her life. "Right! That was a bit more intense than I thought, but fan vote is up next! Go to Odhran Aegisbane dot com in order to submit your votes! I'll be watching with great interest! Toodles!" With that, he finally figured out how to shut off the camera, before returning to his own relaxation.

Another two hours had past, it blurring by in a breeze while Odhran played video games using the daughter's game console. The camera flickered on while he was in the middle of a tough level of My Tiny Horse: Camaraderie is Wizardry: Fuschia Strudel's Celebration, causing him to panickedly set down the controller and quick pull up the results of the fan vote. "Aaaaaalright, it's the moment you've all been waiting for! It's time for Spin! The! Wheel! Of! Doom!" The wheel appeared once more, the wife's wedges having been replaced with pieces of tape marking the name of either of the daughter or the Representative, and Odhran spun it, taking a look at the fan vote.  The wheel landed on one of the daughter's wedges, causing a round of applause to run by. "Oooh we get the youngun! What a shame for the life to be snuffed out so easily! Well, let's look at the fan vote!" Taking a look at a leader board Odhran manifested using his Ark of Embodiment, he saw that the number one option was scientific experimentation. "Well, aren't we fancy? Well, sadly our sciencey guy isn't here, he's exploring and doing stuff like that, but I can see what I can do!" Saying this, Odhran got up, morphing his clothing into a scientist outfit before releasing the daughter's burlap sack. "Today, folks, we are going to see history be made! Today we will see a fusion between child and puppy dog! But not Lupa, Lupa is my puppy dog. Just give me a moment..." Odhran waved his hand as a stray dog appeared. "There we go. Now, let the science begin!" He placed the two next to each other before doing generic science things unrelated to the experiment at hand, mixing mysterious liquids into beakers, viewing a microscope, and making a baking soda volcano, before getting to the true work. He clapped his hands together, using his magic to morph the two together, turning it into a disgusting hybrid of child and dog. "Well, that's a bit sad. And disturbing. And gross. Well, whatever. Turns out, no. Fusing a child and a dog does not, in fact, create the most precious being in existence. Guess I have to return my copy of Entirely Mineral Thaumaturge: Kinship! Honestly, what a waste!" Disappointed at the lying comic book, Odhran extended an arm as it morphed into a spear, piercing the girl dog hybrid thing's neck and sending it collapsing to the ground. "Well, two more hours. I should probably send the others back home. Oh well, I'm still here, so let's turn on some tunes and get going!"

The whole waiting around shtick was getting boring for Odhran. He had beaten My Tiny Horse: Camaraderie is Wizardry: Fuschia Strudel's Celebration at the hour mark, and now he was playing a copy of Condensed Beasts: Chartreuse Version, already having beaten the first Coliseum when the cameras flickered back on. "Oh. Seriously? You guys haven't answered? Huh. You'd think I was your ex girlfriend or boyfriend with how much you aren't answering. That's a bit rude, don't you think? I mean, what have I done to you? We haven't even dated, Council! Why aren't you answering my calls!" Unsure of how to segue from that, he brought up the wheel and the leader board again, with the wheel having been entirely replaced with markings for the Representative and the leader board leading with "Bees." Once the wheel stopping spinning, Odhran used his magic to cause a disembodied round of applause and cheers arise. "What a shocker! The Representative is the next to go, and with over twenty thousand more votes than second place, our execution method is 'Bees!' Give it up for bees!"

Before he could summon the bees, however, a man burst through the door of the dining room, a sword and shield in hand and a fantastic mustache in face. "Stop, fiend! I am-" Odhran yawned and extended his arm out, piercing the man's chest with a spear like appendage.

"Excuse me, I was in the middle of summoning the bees! But, I suppose we can give them a two for one offer!"

Odhran dragged the sword and board "wizard" in, slamming him on the table before removing the Representative's sack mask. "Now, the moment you've all been waiting for! Lend me your power!" He raised his hands in the air as a giant orb of millions of bees began accumulating. The buzzing rose up more and more before another few soldiers entered in the room. "Huh. I guess they really did go home. Or maybe there were more of you. Well, it's fine. There's enough bees for everyone. So come on in!" Listening to his beckoning, the next few soldiers charged towards the Ace, who finally released the orb of bees, them swarming the room. The bees buzzed about, swarming each person nearby and stinging them with their many stingers. To prevent himself from being hurt, Odhran had made himself a bubble of other bees to protect himself, though still making sure that he could see the giant swarm of bees "devouring" the nearby opponents and other generally disappointing people. Within a few minutes, their work was complete as the bees dissipated, leaving Odhran as the lone survivor. "Wow, I gotta use bees more often. Well, point is, shame that you Council folks didn't listen to me, because you got nothing but a dead representative and a few dead soldiers out of this." He looked outside to see the corpses of hooded figures. "Oh, I guess you took out the Brotherhood people too. Well, that's not really a big loss. They're a bit on the edgy side, you know? 'Oh, look at me, I'm angry at the world!' People like that are a bit strange, you know? I'm not angry at the world, I like the world, but I think it could just use a few changes. Like me not being in charge. That's a shame that exists in this world. You all really should appoint me as the only member of the Council. It's a great plan, trust me. Nothing could ever go wrong from that. I mean, no matter what, I'm going to get my way eventually, but it's fine. Anyways, I do hope you enjoyed this six hour special of Odhran Aegisbane's Wheel! Of! Doom! Tune in next week where I'll be capturing a few more people and forcing them to play the game, with more fabulous prizes inside! Speaking of prizes, I will be sending the people who suggested our winning executions some prizes that will get to you in three to five business days, or possibly never depending on if that stupid demon Paul gets in the way of the mail again. Honestly, Paul's just a bit rude, you know? He's murdered like eighteen different mail people in the past two months! It's difficult getting people to live in Sin, let alone have those people sign up for the mail or be blackmailed into doing the mail! Then you have freakin' Paul! The nerve of some people! He's just a giant, thirty foot tall demon that just hates the mail! Even when I sent him a get well soon card for his sick pet cerberus, he killed the mailman then! Rude people, the lot of them! Anyways, until next time, so long, and good night!" Odhran destroyed the camera before walking out of the dining room to see where his fellow members of Elysium were, ready to report the good news to Janet, since the original clients were apparently dead.
