    Job Link

Sayuri studied her map one more time, frowning slightly. Well, she thought she was going the right direction, but she wasn't sure. She'd never been to motor city. But she was here for a very important purpose- to get her driver's license. With the increasing popularity of motorized vehicles, she'd decided it would be a good idea for her to learn to drive one. So she'd talked one of her friends, although she'd supposed it would be more appropriate to say acquaintance, to show her how to drive one of their vehicles. But in order to drive one on her own, she'd need a license of her own. So she'd come here to take her test. But in order to take said test, she'd first have to find the building. Which seemed to be more difficult than she'd thought. She would have to find it soon, though, or she would miss her test, and their appointments could take up to a month, so she had to hurry up and get there.

Sayuri finally found the right building with only five minutes to spare. She walked inside, immediately approaching the desk.

"Hello. My name is Sayuri Katsuya. I have an appointment for a driving test."

The woman studied her for a moment, then checked a notebook of sorts. Probably an appointment log, actually.

"Ah, of course. I see. Here, just fill this out and I'll have your instructor come get you shortly. Oh, smile!"

Sayuri was totally caught off guard when the woman suddenly grabbed a camera and photographed her. Hopefully it didn't look too bad. Sayuri snagged the stack of paperwork the woman had set up on the desk. She grabbed it and headed over to a table to fill it out while she waited for her instructor.

"Hello! Sayuri, right? I'm Martha, and I'll be your driving instructor, okay?"

Sayuri looked up, startled. She hadn't expected it to be that fast. At least she'd had just enough time to finish the paperwork, but still. She turned to face Martha, again surprised. The little old lady was probably old enough to be her grandmother, and she certainly seemed friendly enough. She'd been rather worried about her driving exam, but she couldn't help but relax around the woman.

"Hi Martha! I'm glad to be here. I'm really excited to get my license."

"Of course, of course! Everyone is. It's a very exciting thing. I bet you're ready to get started, so come on! Leave the paperwork with Anne there behind the desk, and let's get you in that car!"

Sayuri smiled. Well, that certainly sounded good to her. She handed the paperwork to the woman behind the desk, who took it without a word, and followed Martha out to the car. After getting settled in, adjusting the seat and mirrors and whatnot, Martha began giving her direction for the test. It was pretty simple, really. The course was a little loop, only about three different roads that you had to turn on. There wasn't even much traffic. And the older kept muttering reassurances through the whole thing.

"Oh yes, good job dear. Perfect turn there. And a turn signal even! Yes, very good indeed. Don't worry, you're doing great."

It was almost a joke, really. And at the end, when she finally had to go back into the parking lot, of course she had to park, but the spaces seemed to her to be wider than normal, and the car was quite small, so it was quite easy to. She glanced over at her instructor, who was taking notes on a notepad, and decided not to interrupt her. She'd tell Sayuri what was going on when she was ready.

After a few minutes of silence, Martha finally turned to face Sayuri, smiling warmly.

"Alright dear. You did quite well, perfect marks! You pass, of course! Now let's get you inside and get that licence."

Sayuri got out of the car and walked back into the building with Martha. Anne, sitting behind the desk, barely even looked up, just slid a little card across the desk. Sayuri took it as her instructor headed back into one of the back rooms of the office. It had all Sayuri's information on it, including the picture Anne had taken earlier, which thankfully wasn't horrible.

"You already made the licence while I was out? What if I had failed."

The other woman snorted. "Oh please. Martha never fails anyone. You could have run down a pedestrian and she'd still give you passing marks. Be glad she's the one who was in today."

Sayuri nodded. Well then, maybe she wasn't quite as good as she'd thought. Oh well, she had her licence anyway, and she could still tell herself she'd have passed no matter who her instructor was. She shrugged and headed out. It didn't really matter. She was still good to drive either way. All in all, it had been a very productive day.
