Description:Gilbird has a special ability to merge with one willing person, fusing their fates in order to keep himself safe. By doing so it is protected by attacks by sharing the fate with the one it is merged with, should the host die than so too would gilbird. This merging has a small secondary affect of preserving the bird in a young state.
Strengths:

• Due to the merging Gilbird is able to understand Dederik while Dederik can understand him through his chirps.
  
• Increased longevity.
  
• Can fly.
  

Weaknesses:

• The host has to nourish both of their bodies.
  
• Gilbird is small and weak, making him easily killed on his own when not merged.
  
• If the host dies, so too does Gilbird. Their fates and bodies are intertwined until he leaves.
  
• While merged the host might suffer from various cravings and tendencies from the bird, such as loves of seeds, urges to eat worms, and whistle merry tunes.
