Ashiya is a very relaxed, introspective individual. Always endeavoring to keep a calm mind, even in the midst of battle. He always watches the world around him in as much detail as possible, taking in everything, and using it to form the right tactics for the situation at hand. Even when in a guildhall, a market, ect, he takes note of everyone around him, down to their nervous habits.
While he is normally withdrawn and contemplative, he is also outgoing, charitable, and protective of others. With his tactical mind and protective instincts he is an exceptional leader and is fair in hand to hand when he is unable, or even unwilling to resort to combative magics.
He knows how to work with others, his strengths in recognizing strengths and flaws in others, making it easier for him to cover his allies, which he will do without a second thought for his own wellbeing if it means protecting those close to him, and even strangers.
He usually loosens up, and becomes quite social with a bit of drink in him, as well as during festivals and other such gatherings. He is a naturally graceful dancer, and a more than fair singer.
His eyes always seem to burn right through people when he analyzes them, which has gotten him into more than a few fights, and generally awkward situations.
When not on a job, or being social, he is often found meditating in a quiet spot, or honing his magical and physical abilities.
The one thing that unnerves him is spiders. He has, on several occasions blasted a single spider in an apartment with his ability. Possibly the reason he is currently homeless.

When not using magic, he prefers his blades as well as hand to hand techniques, being left handed gives him an advantage against most swordsmen, his left hand also bears his Gift.
His family harbored a secret, known to few, the spirit of an ancient dragon shifted between vessels in the clan every few generations. Many of these ancestors were corrupted, and thus corrupted the soul, leaving it at the precipice of becoming demonic. Due to Ashiya's stoic nature, the spirit still slumbers, and has lost a portion of it's corruption. It may awaken should his emotions become strong enough.
Though his family traces its line to one of the greatest students of Miyamoto Musashi, and pass down his teachings in Niten Ichi-ryū, they are in fact his descendants, and have as strong a birthright as the Musashi clan of Midi. Should this come to light, Midi could face a power shift between the two powerful clans, whether for better or worse, remains to be seen. Should the spirit awaken, it may take on two forms, the first is an alteration of Ashiya's body, turning his hair white, and his eyes will blaze with a violet fire. The second, is only possible if he loses all control, it will take on it's true form as a storm dragon, breathing destructive bolts of amethyst electricity, and summoning an electrical tempest beyond any seen in millennia.
