Sol stood in the library in front of a desk inside of the trading company and he had a few books on the desk as he looked over the girl he was teaching. “alright Yona have you been reading the books I had you grab before today?” he asked as he picked up and book and glanced at the first few pages of the book as he waited for her answer. He had agreed to teach her but he had told her before that he expected her to pay attention and if she didn’t he would make sure she learned one way or another. As Sol read a few more pages he glanced at her on occasion and checked on her if she was studying or not.

so do you think your ready for a little quiz Yona or do you need some more studying” he asked as he shut the book with a snap before he turned and actually looked at her and waited for the answer. This would tell him if she was actually being diligent or if she was slacking and he would have to do something about it.

Yona had been reading through the books, her fingers leafing through the pages like drinking coffee with an old friend: patient, observant, and sponging it all in. The green haired mage had read as she was told, working hard throughout the week. She read in the bath, she read in the forest, she read on the beach, she even read in her bed before sleep. Not to mention, a couple of the volumes had been so thick and dense she had needed to read them a couple of times in order to grasp the full concepts. Now, the young woman sat at the desk before it with her feet up on the wood and her arms crossed over her chest.

"Of course I read them, and of course I am ready." She had never gone to an official school and there were no rules of respect she had been taught to follow at home when it came to education. She leaned forward and tapped her fingers lazily over the stack of books in front of her. "I don't need extra time, you said to be prepared." Books were easy, reading was easy, knowledge was easy. The subject was far different than plants however, and though it sometimes crossed the world of plant physiology, most of the toxins she had read and learned about, most of the mechanisms too, were unrelated. Yona wasn't sure how it would play out in the natural world, but all would come in time with practice.

Sol smirked at her for a moment when she told him that she had read them and that she was more then ready which made the dragon wonder is she was really confident or being arrogant.”alright then lets see what you have learned and see if you need some extra lessons” he said knowing how he would deal with it if she was still not ready.”ok Ill give you three questions get them right and we will continue and Ill give you some more information vital to poisons and the plant in question that your desire Fair enough?” he questioned before he reached into a shadow portal and pulled out three vials of off clear liquid.

alright first question what is the difference between a Hemotoxin, a Neurotoxin, and a Conotoxin.” he asked as he put the three vials in front of her with each one marked," next question name a creature that uses each of these toxins one creature for each toxin.” he added before he then smirked.”and finally between the three which one of them has no Antivenom?” he finished as he crossed his arms and waited for his answer and wondered if she would get them all right or miss one or two.

Yona Hisamori picked a small piece of lint from her cropped black halter top. She caught sight of Sol smirking at her and she was pretty sure that he thought she would make a mistake. Yona was able to do well on almost all tests so answering a couple questions wasn't so hard. The female watched then, uncrossing her arms and sitting up as he pulled out the vials and set them onto the desk. The liquids all looked the same and curiously, Yona reached for the one labeled 'hemotoxin'. If he let her, she would pick it up and examine it, then shake it up between her two fingers.

"Yeah, it's fair. Let's hear the questions," The green mage replied easily. She listened to his three questions and nodded as she took them in. She licked her lips, searching for the knowledge in her mind. Some answers came easily, some did not. "Hemotoxins affect the blood, neurotoxins affect nervous systems, and conotoxin is a type of neurotoxin." That answered the first question at least, or at least she thought it did. "Hemotoxins are found in Oleander, neurotoxins can be found in Dendrocnide, Conotoxin..." She paused. She was well versed in many plants and so finding the first two examples was not so challenging. She had no idea what sort of animals had toxins, other than generalized snakes and spiders. She made a guess, assuming names might be related; plants were more her expertise. "Conotoxin is found in cone flowers." Do everything with confidence, she thought, even lying about what she knew.

"Also, I think the last one is a trick question. Everything has an anti-venom, but isn't it based on dosages? A tiny drop of anything shouldn't affect you on a mass scale," Yona informed him slowly, clearly forming a real and intelligently thought out answer. Whether or not it was right, she was sure he would tell her.

Sol smirked slightly before he smiled at her first answer to the question.”very good that is correct “ he said praising her answer before she went on. However when she answered the next question she managed to nail two plants to the first two poisons though only rare varients had them but the last one was not even close to it.”while your plant knowledge is vast your missed the last one and also I said creature not plants Yona” he reminded her while he knew she had struck out but Sol planned to help her learn even more but for now he needed to reign in her arrogance.

actually Yona it is not a trick question even some poisons in small doses are incredibly lethal and we have one here actually” he explained as he grabbed the vial of Conotoxin.” this toxin is so lethal that no anti venom has been created but it is still possible to survive it . Im working on it but its not easy at all” he said before he set it back down and then looked at Yona.” well you did not manage to answer all three so now you get an extra lesson and since Im feeling generous Ill give you a choice do you want the lesson to be painful or not?” he asked as he waited for the womans answer.

Yona had to literally bite her tongue to prevent herself from mimicking Sol out loud. 'I said creatures not plants, Yona' the female instead taunted in her head. Her eyes started to roll back but she feigned a yawn to try to hide her annoyance. She had to be respectful but it was just so hard sometimes. She crossed her arms over her chest again and stood up sharply from the desk. The loud bang of her chair on the desk edge made her visibly flinch and glance guiltily over at the front desk of the library. She had been frustrated but she had not actually meant to cause any sort of disturbance to others in the library. For a second, Yona wondered about if there were others in the library behind the books and if they were peering in on her lesson.

Then, the green haired mage turned her attention back to Sol. She made a face, "An extra lesson? I get to pick if it's painful or not?" She shook her head and put one hand on her hip and the other on the desk. In a sharp tone, but a low whisper of one, Yona continued on. "You have to be joking. You are the teacher. You make the lessons. What kind of mental game are you playing at or aren't you a real teacher?" She touched her temples with both hands feeling exasperated. "I did the studying, I read the books. So I missed a question, so what? My job is to do the best I can and apply myself. You know the whole 'A for effort' philosophy?"

Yona pointed a finger up at his chest, "Your job is to make the lessons so that I understand."

Sols eyebrow twitched with annoyance as she seemed to get upset and jab at his ability to teach along with mentioning that he was the teacher he had to make the lessons and then questioned if he was even a real teacher.”Yona do not forget that I know far more about Venoms and Poisons then you ever will and I am sharing this knowledge with you, I ask that you answer correctly. Your knowledge of toxic plants is vast and I am very impressed with your study of them but animals and instects are just as important as some have poisons that are unique to them and no other” he explained trying to be calm and help her understand.

When she jabbed her finger at him Sol growled slightly.” I have been doing that haven’t I Yona Im not trying to be demanding but Im trying to make sure to learn everything you need to know.” he said before he looked her in the eyes. His red slitted eyes locked onto hers as he spoke again.”You’re the Student arent you. Your supposed to listen to what the teacher says” he said as his eyes gained a sight glow to them that normal mages would not catch since Sols eyes could appear to glow at random points, the moment Yona looked at them she would be unable to look away and she would find her mind muddled and suggestable .

"I don't mind demanding, I just don't think it's fair to have me make up a lesson for myself," She argued back interrupting him. She wasn't as upset as she pretended to be, but it was easier than admitting she had been wrong even though she had tried. Failing wasn't great to admit to. When he rebutted with how she was supposed to listen to the teacher, she withdrew her hand and finger back to her side.

Yona was a little ashamed for her minor outburst and Sol did have a point that not only plants were toxic. She was just more interested in the plants of course, but if he was the teacher then she couldn't rightly choose what topic he was going to teach. Her eyes met his and she saw the odd shift in the red slits and in the glow they gave off. What kind of eyes did that anyway?

Sol shrugged as his eyes never left hers .”I felt like giving you a choice Im not so cruel that I will subject you to pain without giving you’re the option to avoid it. Understand” he said as he kept eye contact. His red eyes would pull her deeper and deeper in the longer she stared at him. His slitted pupils never wavered from hers.”you love nature and I get that but if you understand more about the animals that interact with said plants and in the environment it gives greater understanding Yona” he explained to her as he noticed that she has yet to break eye contact with him which ment his abilitys were working.

"now Yona are you going to be a good student and listen to teacher. If you do you can learn so much more if you pay attention to my every word” he said his eyes still locked on hers. While he normally reserved this power for information extraction Sol knew that if used properly on Yona could bring out even more of her potential and broaden her knowledge even more.”all you have to do is listen to me and I’ll teach you all that I know”"

She could try and say that she didn't care about greater understanding or about anything Sol said, but the female did acknowledge that he knew more and she was learning under his tutelage for a reason. Still, Yona didn't approve of the way he was staring at her. It was somehow too personal, too lingering to be professional, though Sol made no other motion to break his professional teaching role. Then, Yona discovered that she too had been staring back at him this entire time as he spoke.

Sure, it was the right thing to do when paying attention but she felt drawn in by his gaze and in response began to try to withdraw. She leaned back and sat down, trying to physically pull herself away and still, she maintained that eye contact. Yona frowned for a moment. "Of course I plan to listen to you and if the way I get my information is by learning about dumb animals too, then all right." She pointed at him lightly, a gesture as she sat uncomfortably, "But hanging on your every word is certainly beneath me."

As Yona seemed to move away Sol wondered if on a deeper level she was aware of what was going on but when she still kept eye contact with him he knew she was still feeling the effects, he only needed a few more seconds and she would drop into a powerfully deep trance with her mind pleasantly empty and her attitude nowhere to be found. Of course Sol did not plan to be malicious to the girl only help give her a push. To make her better.”Do remember Yona that these dumb animals have the ability to kill you seven ways to Sunday” he reminded her since she was not like him she couldn’t handle poison like he could.

When she seemed to get slightly upset about his every words remark Sol sighed but he didn’t divert his gaze.”I suppose that is asking a bit much but I think beneath you is a little bit of an exaggeration Relax alright” he said using the word relax to trigger to finally make Yona succumb to his eyes..

The woman sat back in the chair and played with a flyaway stray green curl. She bounced it over her finger tips and back again looking up at him like a child getting a lecture, her eyes slightly glazed. But still, Yona relaxed when he said to relax. It was true, what he said about poison and how much she knew about them. And it was true that she was exaggerating her confidence and abilities by saying he was beneath her. She dropped the curl and smacked her lips once. "You're right," She nodded and then felt as if the world was slipping away. It was an odd sensation, but she felt like a leaf on the wind, every thought close enough to touch, but if she had outstretched a hand, it would surely slip away. She was an arm's reach from reality but wasn't really aware of it so much as fascinated by the feeling. Still her eyes were trained on Sol's expecting something more from him, because there always was more.

Sol resisted the urge to smirk when he heard Yona admit that he was right and that she relaxed when he said to.”” he explained as he kept his eyes on her.” I told you when we started that I wanted you to Listen, I know you have some issues but I don’t want that to get in the way of what Im trying to teach you do you understand” he explained with some emphasis on the word listen since Yonas mind was open and he focused on getting her to drop deeper before he started to help her .

Perhaps it might be best if we took a break Yona you look very tired, perhaps you should get some Sleep” he suggested knowing it would most likely finish her off and put her into a deep trance before he would then focus on what to do to fix her issue with certain studying issues.

When Sol mentioned her 'issues', the woman rolled her eyes. So she had a fear of fire, and serious issues with controlling her temper. Yona had been raised with high confidence and strength and now she would admit only to herself, perhaps it was twisted by trauma into arrogance. But to her it sounded like Sol had lived more than twice her life and had more than twice her issues, so who was he to judge? "I understand," She answered him in a drole tone of voice. She started feeling tired, was he boring her that much?

Certainly if she passed out in the middle of his lecture, there would be more hell to pay, so the green haired mage fought to resist the urge. Sol surprised her then, mentioning that she looked tired. She lifted her head slowly staring into his eyes, looking for a reason. How did she get this tired? Was she coming down with something? Her eye lids began to close and when he suggested that she rest, that she sleep, the young woman did so, slumping over in the chair she had been seated in.

As Yona slumped in her chair Sol could only gain a smirk as he knew she had succumb fully. He moved over to her as he gently touched her shoulder.”now Yona can you hear me?” he asked as he knew she would since her mind was wide open.” now I am going to help you but to do so I need you to listen to me fully. I am the best when it comes to what I can teach you so it only makes sense to trust that I know what I am talking about” he added while he allowed her mind to let things sink in. he had to be careful since he didn’t want to completely change her just help her with learning and possably keep her from losing her temper around in and reigning in her pride with him.

"Now Yona when we are studying you will not lose your temper around me since it makes no sense to get mad at your teacher, you also will not let your pride get in the way of your studies since you must remain humble and open to learning anything to gain more knowledge.” he explained and pushed into her head.”When you hear me say the words Would You Kindly you will obey the command I give as long as it does not include murder or crime. Do you understand?” he asked the entranced sleeping woman

The extreme lack of motivation to control her temper around Sol was just a part of Yona's typical character. She hadn't often felt the need to control it, though when she had she was very good at acting out the persona of someone who was fully content. As if sitting in an empty room at the far end of a glossy tunnel, Sol's words reached her in echoed hallowed sentiments. Be humble? Control your temper? And do anything he said if he said would you kindly first? She scoffed inwardly, though her unconscious body didn't much respond. She tried to yell at him, to curse him out, but still, Yona remained entranced. She was sleepy and trapped. The urge to agree to his terms to her freedom was too great.

"Yes," Her lips returned. As much as she wanted to say no deep down, something prevented her from refusing. Yona agreed and felt a binding commitment to Sol's command, like a loyal dog or a handcuffed inmate. The green haired mage had solemnly agreed and now felt as if she could not refuse in a way that was stronger than even before. Somehow, she felt like she had lost something as she looked at Sol from the far end of the tunnel. His eyes, his voice- clearly he had a secret and superior magic from which she could not escape.

Sol nodded as he heard Yona understand his words and what he wanted to do to help her and he sighed, he knew this was only temporary since he did not send her deeper but for what he was trying to do he didn’t want to risk anything to bad on her mind so after their studies Yonas mind would most likely revert but she would remember all the studies she had done.” very good Yona now when I count down from three you will wake up with no memory of this but your subconscious will still remember what I told you. You will feel awake and energized when you wake up and 3..2..1” he said as he woke her from her trance.

you ok Yona you dozed off for a moment perhaps we should take a break and go get something to eat I have a few things I want to show you that pertain to the poisons I told you about” he questioned since she would believe his reasoning. Sol wondered if using live examples of poison might help the young woman stay on task and take more of an interest in the things he was teaching her.

Yona felt confused and somewhat angry. She had been coerced, given no option, the only way out was to obey Sol and she didn't want to. The nineteen year old committed herself and was now his obedient little student. Still, when he counted down and she felt her spirit returning, it was like a misty dream. She recalled a deep tunnel but nothing else. The fog was all that was left to remind her of her disapproval and it was not enough to cause her to act on it. It was just a fog of a dream after all. "I fell asleep?" She asked, though of course he told her that she did.

The female got to her feet and touched her head lightly. "Yeah, I could use a snack. Lead the way," She told him. It was strange but Yona didn't feel as conflicted as before, not even reluctant. She offered him a tired smile. "I'd like to see what you have to show me. Is is poison, an antidote? Is this the lesson where I feel pain?" She rubbed her arm and walked besides him, "Physical pain doesn't really bother me."

yes you did but seeing as it was the first time I caught you doing it I’ll let it slide this time” he said as he saw her get to her feet he nodded to her and motioned for her to follow him. He would lead her to the Dining area and as he grabbed a cup of tea and a chicken sandwich he heard her question if she would be getting a lesson that was painful which made the dragon shake his head.” no it won’t be a painful. I’ll be showing you some of the creatures that use the venoms we were talking about. While I know you like plants and nature I think you will find these creatures rather interesting” he explained.

As they sat at a Table Sol took a bite from his sandwich before he caused a shadow portal to appear before him and from it emerged a small container filled with water and a single colorful shell.” this first creature is a cone snail which uses the conotoxin I showed you, now normally I would be ok with examples being held but since I have no antivenom for this creature this is a look but no touch situation” he explained as he looked at the shell with interest in his eyes, who would think that such a small thing could kill so easily.

Yona felt curious about the creatures that he planned to show her. It was true that she preferred plants, but if she was going to gain access to the most toxic substances in the world, this man was her access point. As long as she wasn't going to be cataloging the animals or something weird like that, then Yona could deal with it. She followed behind him and grabbed a clutch of grapes from a bunch on the table.

When they sat together at a table and he made a vial with a snail inside appear, she rose both of her eyebrows. "I get that there's no anti-dote but I can't touch... the outside of the vial?" She shook her head, not really interested in doing so, but just pointing out the silliness of his request. She squinted and examined the creature and added, "Are you sure you have no way to cure it? I thought you were some kind of master."

Sol smiled slightly before he spoke.”it is alright to touch the outside of the vial I just meant that if I was to open said vial you could not touch it. If it managed to sting you then I would have to do everything I could to keep you alive till the poison got out of your system” he explained before he gently touched the glass and in a fraction of a second a barb shot out from the snail and hit the glass with a small Tink noise.”that’s why you cannot touch this thing strikes so fast its almost impossible to follow. I don’t want to risk anyones health” he explained .

Once she questioned if he really had no way to cure it and asked if he really was a master Sol blinked before he spoke.”at this point I do not have an Antidote but I am a master Yona. But you must understand that creating an antidote is complex and lengthy process, I cannot simply take the venom and make an antidote from it. I need to analyze it and know every part of it so what I make does not make a symptom worse or even make the venom more powerful” he said as he took another bite of his sandwich.”it’s a hard process but its very rewarding since what you make can save hundreds if not thousands of lives” he added as he hoped she understood this.

The green haired woman considered for a moment that he might be worried for her health and gave a half chuckle. It was nice that he cared so much that he would keep her alive for her stupidity. She had heard the rumors of his inner darkness, having asked around after their first meeting, but the man she looked at now did not seem to express any desire to see her suffer. At least, not this time; when she had probed his mind for secrets, his anger had allowed her to suffer for a short while. Yona wondered if he enjoyed that or not.

Yona plopped grape after grape into her mouth, relishing in the sweet juicy fruits until he gave pause. She reached out and lifted the vial, tilting it mildly to the side to examine the barb and the snail inside. As he offered reasoning in defense of his mastery, Yona shrugged and planted the vial on its side on the table. She flicked it gently with a finger and let it roll back to his side of the table before munching on another grape. "If I doubted your power, Sol-sama, I wouldn't have sought you out. What more can you show me? I want to see real power, not just read more books." She finished off the clutch of grapes and asked, "Is there going to be a test?"

Sol thought for a moment as he heard her ask what more he could show her, that did make the dragon think since while he did know a fair amount of poisonous creatures he couldn’t show her effects on live people since it was considered cruel .”I might have a few more creatures to show you but I cannot show you effects on live people since its inhumane understand” he explained wanting Yona to understand that he did not want to harm people just to teach her. “its hard to teach you outside of animals and books due to ethics and human cruelty “ he added.

He finished off his chicken sandwich in little time and he took a drink of tea before he placed the cone snail vial back into a shadow portal before he then pulled out a larger container and the moment Sol touched the top a rattling noise was heard. “Yona this is a diamond back rattle snake and a user of Hemotoxin like I showed you before.” He explained as he touched the side of the container and it went transparent showing off a large serpent flicking out a black forked tounge and it was rattling its tail in irritation.”This is one snake you don’t want to meet when its angry its bite can make you bleedout easily the only thing that could do it faster is a Garon but that has nothing to do with Poison” he said with a chuckling at the end .

Yona leaned in to look at the snake inside of the box. She heard Sol chuckling, and found herself smiling as well. If he was laughing like that, perhaps it wasn't so dangerous. She observed the way its brown scales rippled against each other and the way it tasted the air with its split tongue. She stuck her tongue back out at it in a child-like taunt of the creature, thereby showing to anyone seeing that she was not taking this serpent very seriously. Her green hair fell onto the table like a waterfall when she suddenly jerked forward and hit the box.

The lid, if not completely secure, would bounce or pop off. The main idea was to get the snake to jump and lash out. She wanted to see its fangs unfold and she wanted to see the venom drip from its mouth like a dog drooling in summer heat. "Come on, you dumb snake," She snapped, eager for an instant response.

Sol simply watched the snake in fascination as Yona seemed to as well but then she decided to do something he was not expecting and she struck the case holding the rattle snake in it and the lid popped off. Once it did the snake had decided that it had enough and lashed out however Sol managed to catch its head right before it sank its fangs into the young girls flesh. "easy girl no reason to harm Yona she was just messing with you” Sol said as the snake seemed to relax in his hand before he put the snake back in the lid and he gently let go of its head before he stroked its scales before he sealed the lid on the container.

After he finished he leveled a glare at Yona.”I hope you know that was a stupid decision you could have been bitten easily the only reason you were not was because I had the reflexes to catching it before it sank its fangs in you” he scolded before he looked at the snake and then her before he spoke again “ next time you make a decision like that I wont help you and you can enjoy a visit to the hospital” he said as he saw the snake was settling down and would not be a thread.”Honestly if you encountered this in the wild would you have done such a stupid thing?” he questioned.
