A Bad Day to be Mice (Maxie) Empty A Bad Day to be Mice (Maxie)

Post by Guest 22nd May 2014, 4:26 am

The brightly dressed man stood before the simple little cottage, his eyes gleaming as he span the keys around on the end of his finger and ran through his objectives through his head. While many dark mages would pass up the chance of helping a happy couple, Maxie was more than happy due to the fact he'd be able to let loose. Nothing was better than spilling a little blood, no matter how small the victims may be on this particular occasion. His objective today was to remove all the mice from the building permanently. Nothing was more permanent in this life than death, and Maxie was to direct that tragic ending once again in his own twisted way. Why they hadn’t called a proper exterminator was beyond him but he wasn’t about to complain as he raised the key and, with a dark chuckle, unlocked the door to enter the building.

The room he’d entered had rather a quaint and homely feel to it, as was to be expected given that this was to be a family home one day. The building was clearly rather an old one as Maxie noted the beams that held the ceiling in place and the single glazed windows which would undoubtedly be replaced before the winter chill came in. On one end of the room was a doorway to what looked to be a dining area, while in the corner of the room was a slightly shorter door. Undoubtedly this was the door that led to the basement.  He brushed his fingers lightly across the chairs as he passed through the living room, getting a feel for the texture. They felt soft, but certainly weren’t anywhere near the standards that he himself was used to living in. Still, given the area he supposed they were fitting. As for the oak table in the middle of the room…well, that certainly didn’t need commenting on. With his attention on this room beginning to wane, the dark mage passed through it and began to focus on his job. With one last glance into the living room, Maxie opened the basement door and ducked his head as he began walking down the steps.

The squeaking of the tiny rodents could be heard right from the top of the stairs and only became louder when Maxie reached out and switched the light lacrima on. He came to a stop as he was halfway down as he peered through the bannister at the ground below. A cold smile crept across his face as he began counting the number of victims he was about to prey upon. Numerous though they were, they couldn’t stand up to Maxie if he brought his magic into play, which he would undoubtedly do so. There’d be considerably less of a mess on him. He propped his parasol up against the wall as he continued his descent. He raised his left hand up in front of him and a small brown magic circle appeared within it. He then punched his right fist into the magic circle, giggling maniacally as his fist was consumed by a thick layer of stone. As soon as he stepped off of the bottom step he began to get to work, smashing the mice and crushing them effortlessly into the ground.

    ”So many mice,
    So many mice,
    See how they run?
    See how they run?
Cos Maxie’s here with a big surprise,
Splatter their brains on the floor, so nice!
So much fun to be taking their lives…

    Oh…

No more mice. No more mice!~
    Keehahaha!
he sung as blood spattered in all directions around the bodies of the rodents.

Maxie took one last look around to ensure he’d not missed any before he began his ascent back up the stairs. Just as he reached his parasol he came to a complete stop once more and looked around. These people had employed him to kill these mice rather than looking to find someone to remove them by a more humane means. That…was disrespectful. He would have to teach them to be more respectful.

The couple entered their living room to see Maxie had turned their chair around to face their front door. In his hands were a cup of tea and a saucer. ”Good day to you both! Your timing is impeccable! The deed is done. You shall have no more bother with those pesky rodents.”

The couple checked the basement and came back up delighted that Maxie had not only removed the mice, but had cleaned up any mess he’d made. A bag of jewels was handed to the mage before he finished his tea and set off. Before he left he popped his head back into the door. ”Just to let you know, I left you a little surprise in your kitchen. I do hope you enjoy it.” he said with a wink, before exiting and walking down the road. Meanwhile the couple entered the kitchen and, sure enough, there was a pot on the oven that was gently bubbling. The woman walked over to the pot with a smile…and screamed at the top of her lungs as the head of a mouse was looking back at her amongst bubbling red fluid. This was to be the least of their problems…

Outside Maxie heard the scream and smiled before putting a finger out in front of him.

    ”Eins…”
    Another finger rose.
    ”Zwei…”
A rumbling could be heard from behind him and finally a third finger rose.
    ”Drei.”
The cottage collapsed to the ground behind him as he put his hand down and raised his parasol above his head, walking away from the mess he’d left behind.
