The Newest Member (Intro)

Aegiel walked along the floor of this impressive Guild, admiring his new home. He clutched his necklace nervously, eyeing the crowded room with more than a little trepidation. What if somebody didn't like him? What if something were to fall on him? What if- He shook his head fiercely. No point in frightening himself for no good reason. At that moment, a giant clay mug was hurled across the room, headed directly for the back of Aegiel's unsuspecting noggin.

Kihia saw the entire seen unfold before him, someone had just walked into the guild hall when a beer mug was thrown their way. Kihia sighed and shouted across the hall, "Hey!...If you can't hold your drinks...head some wear where you won't hurt somebody!" Kihia shook his head and picked up Icarus and rested it on his right shoulder, he then walked over to the new comer and did a slight nod in greeting. "Welcome to Lamia Scale...May I help you with something?"

Aegiel rubbed his wounded head ruefully, giving the friendly stranger an embarrassed grin. A tiny white viper poked its head out his T-shirt's sleeve, winding down his bare forearm and flicking it's forked tongue back and forth. Aegiel gave it a half-hearted grin. "I'm fine, Meep. Go back to sleep." As Meep slithered back up into the confines of his shirt, he finally turned his attention to the only man in the whole damn hall who cared that he had been brained by a beer mug. Aegiel offered him yet another apologetic smile. "Thanks for asking. I'm actually kinda lost. Would it be all right if you have me the scoop on some of the more prominent guild members?" Aegiel gulped. The man seemed nice enough, but for some inexplicable reason came off as kind of....cold.

Kihia nodded at the young man in front of him, "My name is Kihia Avoa...I tend to keep watch over the hall even though its troublesome at times..." Kihia looked over his shoulder to make sure the rambunctious group was calming down. "Anyways follow me in...I will show you around" Kihia turned around making sure not to hit the newcomer in the head with Icarus, "By the way...what is your name...?"

"Aegiel,"  he responded, falling into line with a skip in his step. "Aegiel Clover. This right here is Meep, but I doubt she'll pop her head out long enough to give you a proper greeting," said Aegiel, patting the concealed serpent. As he walked his head whipped from side to side, absorbing as much as possible.

Kihia noticed Talen was sitting at the bar eating a meal, he also saw Medusa sitting next to him. Kihia motioned for Aegiel to follow him, "This is Talen, he is a celestial spirit mage and a fellow team mate." Kihia turned to to be able to face both Aegiel and Talen, Kihia also made sure to nod towards Medusa in greeting.

Talen had been enjoying a good plate of meat with Medusa, he had not talked to her for a wile so he decided to summon her for lunch,  when Kihia came up with a new guild recrute. Talen smiled and said, "Hey, nice to meet you. as Kihia said, this I am a celestial spirit summoner. This is Medusa, I have known her since I was very young." Talen gave Medusa a smile and she returned it. "So what is your name?"

Aegiel rocked back on his heels in surprise upon hearing that Talen was a Celestial Mage. He returned Talen's smile, and shot a weak grin in Medusa's direction. He wasn't quite sure what the relationship between a spirit and their summoner was, but Medusa seemed friendly enough. And Talen had said they they had known each other for a long time. Wait, what if they were more than friends? Like siblings? Or lov-gaaaahh! Just go for it, Aegiel - be bold!


Aegiel extended both hands; one to Talen and the other to Medusa. "I'm Aegiel. I've never met a Celestial Spirit Mage before. Or a Celestial Spirit, for that matter. You must be pretty popular around here, no?" Cool as a cucumber.

Zuo appeared behind the bar holding two plates of hot food. He smiled at Kihia and the new member "Ah a new soul. Welcome welcome please do sit down." The old man set down the two plates on the bar then wiped his hands off on a nearby wash rag. Setting it down he looked back to Aegiel. "It should be understood that I am Zuo Cii. Guildmaster of Lamia Scale. I see you have already met Kihia and Talen. They hold the ranks of Knight and Bishop respectively so you know they are dependable." He looked over to Talen and Kihia "I do hope you two live up to that expectation. I would hate to be branded a liar." The old man said it kindheartedly not meaning much by it aside from a weak attempt to make conversation.

Kihia nodded at Zuo Cii, "I will do my best to leave up to the title, Master Zuo. It is nice to see you again." Kihia then looked at Aegiel, "I hope you see this place as home...soon..." Kihia nodded at the new recruit, and then asked "Is there anything else you may need?"

Once the pleasantries had been dispensed, Aegiel shook his head at Kihia. "I think I've got the hang of this place now." He smiled, snakelike. "I hope that we'll meet up again soon, as equals." As soon as it had come, the mischievous grin disappeared. Aegiel waved goodbye to Kihia and gave a small bow to his Guild Master. Then he was off, prepared to begin his most exciting adventure yet: His first job!
