Ryo wasn’t about to let this opportunity go to waste. He tucked away his other white card knowing it wasn’t worth anything now. With only four cards in his hand he drew two more elements and two more playing cards to round out his eight. He threw the four playing cards at the corn demon and hit it with all four of them. The demon rushed him now annoyed that it had been struck by something. As it charged him Ryo smirked and threw a metal element, and water element card at the demon. Both struck the demon in the face, but it had little to no visible effect, but the metal card was enough to make the demon stop. It was now a good distance away from the field, but Ryo wanted to be extra sure that this particular fire spell wouldn’t harm the plants. So he drew four more playing cards and threw them at the corn demon slapping it with all four of them. He was down eight cards and this meant that his playing card stock was running even shorter than he would’ve wanted. He was down to his last few tricks. His mana was going, and he was running low on cards, but he had a few more tricks left.

The corn demon hissed as it was stuck by the cards and it started to yell at Ryo “You ugly little rat! I am going to pound you into the dirt and make you part of the fertilizer! Die!” The demon ran at him with all the speed it could muster. Ryo smirked and nodded his head lightly “Bring it you unstylish side dish! All you’ll be when I’m done is cinders!” This served to anger the demon further and it charged even faster while Ryo back peddled away from the fields. Finally the demon was at the range he wanted. He waited for just a moment and then struck “Attack Combo: Flamethrower!” He held out the cards in front of him and a steady stream of flame came out of the cards. The demon was far too committed to its attack to even try and stop. Instead in ran full force into the inferno screaming in agony as it was being burned alive. Ryo smirked and quickly drew a new hand. He was running low on mana, but he didn’t need it for what he planned. He drew the last of his remaining playing cards and one element card. This was the last hand for either him or the demon.

The demon screeched and yowled in its agony before it started to lay down on the ground and rolled around trying to smother the flames. Ryo smirked and threw the wind element card he just drew at the corn which hit him and acted as a fuel to keep the fire alive even longer. He then began to throw his cards one at a time hitting the demon when it started to change directions. He missed it with three of the seven shots so he shrugged now that his cards were gone. So instead he drew eight element cards. He looked at them and laughed as half of them would help in keeping the flames alive. Ryo threw the two fire element cards one hit the other missed, but the one that hit succeeded in keeping flames alive. He then threw two lightning element cards these both missed. Ryo swore softly knowing it was because he was almost out of magic that his aim seemed to be less spot on than usual. He didn’t let this bring him down however and instead just threw the rest of his cards at the demon. Three of these four hit the one that missed splashed showing its water nature.

Finally the demon crumbled turning into the harmless plant it started from. Ryo looked back towards the fields and saw that whatever spell had been upon them had lifted. He sighed heavily in relief as he sat down breathing in relief now. As he sat there the man who hired him arrived “you have done it!”
Ryo looked up at him nodding “yeah…Sorry about your shed though…But your tools, and your crops are still intact…” The man ran to the fields smiling wider than ever clapping “We have been saved! Thank you so much!” He handed Ryo his payment, and this served to satisfy Ryo “Well it was an honor sir. I am happy to have helped. If you have any further troubles in the future be sure to call on Sabertooth first. We always do our absolute best.” Ryo groaned as he slowly rose to his feet his body was suffering greatly now from the soreness from his encounters with the broccoli demons. Once more this reminded Ryo that Broccoli was from hell and it should be eradicated in its entirety. Still he had his payment, the job was a success, and now he was going home to rest and get ready for his next job.
