Killua looked at the disembarking Vikings of Iceberg that had just made landfall early in the morning before they quickly proceeded to split themselves into different raiding parties. The young mage stood up, he was supposed to lead the initial assault on the village closest to them and draw some attention until the raiding party for that specific village arrived, he didn't expect any help from them either way so moving out before them would give him the element of surprise.

He was wearing his usual combat gear which consisted of black combat boots, cargo combat pants, and a combat shirt, with a tight tactical jacket on top with a hoodie that was covering most of his face and protected him from the sun. All the clothes were in a woodland camo that consisted of 4 different colors, consisting of large organic shapes in olive green and brown, black ‘branches’, and light green ‘leaf highlights’. In the grass field, it would be the perfect cover to get the first shot, his MRAD rifle hanging on his back loosely as he walked closer and closer to the village.

He didn't expect to find himself assisting in a war, but the pay was good so there was no reason he would deny this opportunity to make some extra jewels, he didn't care about which side won, he was in for the money and maybe some infamy. Other than that he couldn't be bothered with their political views, as long as he got paid.

He looked up at the cloudless sunny sky, at this point the sun was shining brightly on the open fields and he slowly began to regret his choice of clothes, starting to feel the sweat already building up under them. At least he could change almost whenever he wanted due to his requip. For now, he focused on his current task as the village was coming up insight, the Vikings shouldn't be too far behind so now was the perfect time for him to start up his attack.

Suddenly he fell to the ground, some distance in front of him two people had appeared, positioning the rifle in front of him, Killua used the scope of the weapon to identify the people to be Bellum Crusaders, most likely doing a patrol of the area. Taking a better look at them, he noted that apart from the difference in build, they held the same armor and shields, with one of them wielding a war axe and the other a plain straight sword. Cocking the bolt back he loaded the first bullet in, taking a deep breath, Kil aimed for the center of one of the crusader's chests before pulling the trigger.

The loudness of the gun filled the open field, as one of the crusaders had a gap in their armor and soon fell to the ground lifeless. Kil quickly aimed at the other guard as he pulled something in his hand that he couldn't focus on. Black lightning sparkled around his hand as he pulled the bolt again, loading the next bullet, while lightning fed into the weapon itself from an extended custom socket. The warrior pulled out something that fired a bright red flare into the air, Kil pulling the trigger yet again, this time the bullet leaving a trail of lightning along its trajectory, this time even leaving an exit wound through the back of the crusader's armor.

Bell ringing could be heard coming from the village, it looks like the crusader was able to warn them. Something Killua wasn't proud that he allowed to happen, standing up he faced the village. From it a few more crusaders had exited and were heading his way at a steady pace towards him. The dark mage removed his hood, the fight was going to quickly become a close-quarters and any obscured viewpoints would a disadvantage to him.

The MRAD rifle that was in his hands disappeared, and shortly after was replaced by his Scorpion SMG. He would keep his Thunder God Slayer magic as much as possible under wraps, and he wanted to use his arsenal a bit, the last few jobs didn't really leave him much choice. Pulling the charging handle back he made sure that the gun was ready for action and began to make his way towards the incoming knights.

The fighting had begun on the other side of the village, fires raged and screams and roars could be heard. These knights must be really irritated, the young mage thought, they were stuck here dealing with him, while they were being sieged on the other side by Vikings. Certainly not the ideal situation for them, but the more he could draw out and kill the better.

The distance between them had closed significantly, he was close enough that he could see the village fortifications, if he had to guess the seemingly brittle wooden walls were infused with magic and would take a beating before falling down from conventional weaponry, a few watchtowers that on his side were empty, or at least he wasn't able to spot one initially, as he dodged a slice from one the knight's broadsword aimed at decapitating him.

They didn't pull any punches, each and every hit was aimed to end his life as fast as possible so they could rejoin the battle on the other side. Something that Kil wouldn't allow to happen so easily.

Pulling the trigger of the Scorpion in his hand, he released a hail of bullets at one of the knights, all of them colliding with his shield before he continued to charge toward the dark mage. 'Looks like I won't be able to penetrate their defenses with this..' He thought as one of the knights closed the distance between them, before raising his mace, glowing in a bright holy aura, he swung it down towards Killua.

Putting his submachine gun up and shifted it on its side, taking the front of the blow from the mace, however, he didn't expect the force behind, his hands trembling as he fought against the energy expelled from it, falling to one knee in the process. At least Bosco's gunsmiths had crafted perfect weapons for their soldiers that were quite tough and durable or the one in his hands would have broken down under such a direct slam on it.

From the side he was charged by another one of the Crusaders, Kil pushed the Mace-wielding Crusader off of himself, before dodging towards the shield of the one that was charging him, barely being missed by the axe that was meant to lodge itself in him. The crusader in turn reacted and slammed his shield into the slayer, sending him skidding across the grass field.

The Crusaders spoke between themselves in their native language Bellia and Kil didn't have even the slightest idea of what they had said, as he himself wasn't very well versed in many languages, well it was only two and that was Ishgar and Midijin other than that he had no knowledge of other languages.

He wouldn't have much time to ponder as 3 of the 6 knights began to circle him. Quickly he changed his weapons, the SMG now gone and replaced with what looked like to be the hilt of the weapons, if their faces were obscured he would have been able to see their confused looks. They quickly steeled themselves, as Kil ignited the blade, a dark energy blade quickly coming out of the hilt, the young mage keeping it close in front of him.

He wasn't about to let them get the first strike and swarm him, no, dark energy flickered around the Void Blade, with a swift horizontal swing, a wave of dark energy shaped in a crescent collided with one of the knights sending him back across the field. The energy had completely obliterated his armor, he wasn't going to get up from that one.

Keeping the pace on his side, the same dark energy surrounded Kil, with one step forward he flashed and appeared in front of another knight and delivered a devastating overhead slash, the corrupted energy finishing the job, another crusader had fallen prey to the mercenary.

Another Crusader rushed in fast and swung his sword down at Killua, using his own blade in turn to parry from the sword to the side. A small plastic explosive appeared in his hands, quickly he ducked under the Crusader's shield and placed the explosive on his abdomen stuck like glue to him. Spinning, Killua deliver a powerful side kick that forced him back, the Sticky Bomb exploding afterward.

Jumping back, the mage created some distance between him and the remaining three crusaders.  A wicked smile adorned his face, as the Void Blade's energy returned to the hilt, tucking into his hoodie and replaced in a flash of blue light by his M32A1 grenade launcher, the wicked smile still present as he aimed and pulled the trigger.

    Thunk, thunk, thunk.

That was the continuous sound that came out of the grenade launcher as he rained down on the last 3 crusaders that were near one another. The shells made contact with the ground exploding an instant later, throwing dirt everywhere. For a few moments, nothing except explosions could be heard on this side of the village, drowning out the screaming and fighting that was happening on the other side.

Kil let the M32A1 drop down to his side, holding it with one hand, waiting for the smoke to clear so he could confirm that the Crusaders were down. Soon enough, it had cleared and he could see all 6 bodies on the ground, the dark mage waited for a moment, making sure that he had defeated him, the grenade launcher disappeared from his hands. God, how much he loved explosives.

Shifting his attention to the village, Kil could see the raging fire in several places on the other side. He couldn't keep the smile from creeping up on his face, somewhere in him, he missed military conflicts, it got his blood flowing, and thrived in such situations, no doubt he would partake in future battles, and as long as the money was flowing into his pocket, he would continue to support his factions efforts

Taking out the void blade, he rushed towards the village to enter his next battle.

Post by Killua 30th April 2022, 5:11 am

Screams, roars, and battle cries were all that the slayer's sensitive ears were picking up, as he got closer to the village that had now become the center of the battle. His nose was invaded by the smell of blood and ash. This was what war looked like it, up until now, he had never experienced war, even though he was bred to be a killing machine and nothing else for the betterment of his 'country'. The means and ways that they were acquired didn't matter, at the end of the day, all loose ends were tied that could incriminate this special portion of the military. Their only mistake was if the people abducted ever revolted against them, and he was living proof that it happened, however, there was no way for him to prove it, just by words alone.

Yet he was here, in the middle of the fray in a war for politicians that couldn't sort their differences, instead of chasing one path that seemed like the only logical and one that would matter to him. It was surreal to him, that he was able to make the decision for himself, and sent himself to war, only for the money, he could care less about who would win, in the future that might change, but at the moment he hadn't done much research into these 'factions' that were at war.

A whistling sound followed by a crash caught his attention, and he looked towards the edge of the village walls where something had just collided with one of the towers, screams echoed yet again as soldiers that manned said tower fell with it, dust flying everywhere in the distance. A shout was the next thing that he heard and he looked at the stone tower close to him, several archers were looking in his direction as he charged towards the wall of the village. They didn't waste time in deciding that he was their enemy, pulling the string of the magitech bows that they held, soon a barrage of magical arrows rained upon him, which he elegantly dodged.

Changing into his Viper Flight Suit, he continued to charge forward deciding to not use the jetpack for the current moment, he wanted to get closer before he could fire a few missiles at them and bring that tower down. Another wave of arrows was fired, this time one of the arrows collided with the shoulder of his armor, slowing him down and forcing him to jerk his shoulder back from the force of the impact. While it didn't damage the armor much, there was a significant force behind the magic arrow.

The targeting system in his helmet began to mark different points in the stone tower going from bottom to top in gray circles, preparing for the rocket barrage. At the same time, one of the archers drew the magic string, said string glowing a beautiful blue before the color intensified further. Killua narrowed his eyes, the video feed provided from the external cameras zooming in, in an attempt to figure out the next move of the village watchmen.

With one swift motion, the arrow was released towards Killua. Bracing for impact and bringing his arms in front of him, the young dark mage awaited for the arrow to collide with him. Hearing the magic arrow lodge itself into the ground, he didn't have much time to react, a blue circle spreading around him. Kil cursed under his breath before the circle expanded even further, glowing again before it blew up, kicking up a big dust cloud from the explosion.

    Targets Acquired.

The glowing green message repeated itself on the visor of his helmet, and a whistling sound was the last thing the archers heard before rockets emerged from the dust cloud and collided with different portions of the tower, two rockets specifically collided with the nest the archers were using to fire upon their enemies, soon it erupted in fire, stone debris flying everywhere from the explosions. The dust cloud cleared, revealing Kil down on one knee, the right rocket salvo smoking hot, it was evident from the smoke that came of the single launcher that only one salvo was fired to do the job. Portions of the tower crumbling and falling inside and outside the village.

Prompting himself up, Kil walked forward, the engines of the jetpack whirling to life as he propelled himself up and landed on the remains of the ruined tower. He examined the remains, looking if any of the archers had survived the barrage. Right below the tower, he could see one of them, his body half-buried in rock. Scanning the body, a prompt message on one side of the hud inside his helmet stated 'Deceased'. The other two were most likely in the rubble as well, it was pointless to search for them, there was a low chance they would survive that. Unlike the knights, it didn't look like they were equipped with any armor that would take a large hit.

For the first time, he looked upon the whole village. The Vikings were making significant progress inside on the other side. Good, with him on this side, they had to split some of their forces to deal with the issue, and he was certain that by this point he was gaining quite the attention towards him, up until it was lost chance that they knew what was happening on Killua's side of the village, but the recent explosion on their tower and him standing proudly on top of it, would garner further forces to bring him down. They wouldn't know if it was another Viking's force or only him.

Scanning the village further, he wondered where to move towards, to meet up with the Vikings or continue his own battles on this side. His thoughts would soon find answers, zooming in further into the village that was still free of fire, he could see a man giving out orders to a group of Crusaders, and among the larger armored ones, there was a man that looked more like a priest to him. Soon they turned their attention to him, more to his direction, and set out.

Jumping down from the tower, he throttled the jetpack a little to slow his descent into a smooth landing and continued to run forward between the houses. He wanted to draw as little attention to himself as possible before he reached the squad that was sent to intercept him, so flying was out of the option. The fewer members he could deal with at a time the easier it would be for him to dwindle their number and get to the leader. Larger forces had a significantly higher chance to get him and if those knights were the same as the ones he fought, it wouldn't be that hard, and it would leave the mystery priest that accompanied for Kil to worry about.

Turning a corner, the dark mage quickly slid across the dirt and stone path to a stop. In front of him were the two crusaders and priest. Quickly the two crusaders put the shields in front of them and stood between him and the priest. From the positioning, he would guess that he was more of a caster and obviously not carrying a weapon of any kind.

Killua was the first to act, a small black lightning circle formed in front of his helmet where his mouth would be. A second later he released a beam of black lightning toward one of the knights. Once the attack settled, the young mage was surprised, while the knight was down on one knee he pushed himself up, a moment later and he was engulfed in a golden light, Kil shifted his attention to the priest, his arms spread a golden light surrounding him as well.

It looks like he was more of a support, Kil thought, his attention shifting back to the knights as the one that was down pushed himself up. While his armor was damaged, he moved like he wasn't hit by anything moments earlier. The slayer took a step back, unholstering the void blade and holding its hilt in his right hand. He was thinking of his next move, the knights looked like the previous ones, yet they didn't fall down from the same attacks the one outside did. Something else was happening, he just couldn't put his finger on it.

The unharmed knight charged forward, Kil, in turn, ignited the void blade, however instead of using one of its abilities, he extended his free hand pointing towards the charging knight, black lightning focused at the tip, and once it concentrated he released a bolt of powerful small lightning burst towards the knight, who brought his shield up.

Golden light enveloped the knight, as the dark lightning collided with him, it only served to slow him down, as he continued his charge forward. Killua's full attention was changed to the priest, he had become a priority target for this encounter, now that his vision was obscured like before from the bellow, he could see how the knight survived.

Void-like energy surrounded Killua as he gripped the Void Blade with both hands. Just about as the knight was in striking range, Killua disappeared into the dark energy. In an instant, he appeared before the priest and delivered a powerful horizontal slash infused with the same void energy.

He was surprised when the priest didn't shield himself and just fell down from the enhanced attack. Killua turned towards the knights that were behind him, the closest one meant to attack, however, lightning began to dance around the young mage, doing a half spin, the tainted lightning was released in a whirlwind-like manner towards them, engulfing both of his foes.

He was disappointed so to say, as the knights fell with lightning still sparkling from their bodies. He expected more from the priest. This only left for him to find the other person he saw giving orders, and with that, he set off again towards the cathedral where he saw him last.

Post by Killua 12th May 2022, 3:30 pm

Kil watched from above as the battle was reaching its end, at some point, he discarded running and just used the jetpack to fly, and had stopped himself to survey the village. He was close to the cathedral and he could see that the same person giving out orders was still there, he finally got a better look at him, while he looked like the priest he fought before, his clothes were slightly different and held a pure black spear.

Most of the village was empty if he had to guess, he hadn't seen a single civilian and with the Vikings advancing so much, the battle was almost over. The only thing left was the clean up the remaining Bellum forces and their commander. He adjusted his position in the air with the use of the attached wings and dove toward the remaining troops of Bellum's defense.

As he got closer he deactivated the jet pack, reducing any loud sounds that would directly give away his position and where he would come from and he let the wings and momentum guide him towards his target. He could see the Crusader looking around frantically as he was hearing an ever-increasing whooshing sound.

It was too late when he finally looked up and locked eyes with Killua's suit. Kil crashed into him fist-first into his helmet as he drove him to the ground with the momentum behind him, not giving him much time, the young mage's hand sparked with tainted lightning, and soon the Warrior's whole body was electrocuted. When Killua removed his hand, for a brief moment an insignia could have been seen on the man's armor, before it disappeared.

He looked at the rest of the 3 Warriors that stood between him and what he now called an Arch Priest. The priest yelled something, pointing the black spear towards Killua and all 3 of the remaining warriors began to move towards the slayer. Tainted lightning formed in front of Killua's mask, a second later he released the notorious god slayer's bellow, engulfing one of the crusaders. Not giving them more time to react, he pointed a finger towards another one, quickly condensed lightning on the tip of his finger, and released hitting another crusader dead center before he could react and the lightning spread through his body.

Between him and the priest stood one last crusader. He firmly stood his ground and Killua could only commend his bravery, after seeing his comrades fall in seconds. A small portable launcher appeared in Killua's right hand, quickly aiming and releasing the trigger. The sticky bomb flew quite quickly however to Killua's surprise the knight had dodged it fairly easily, before rushing forward.

As Killua prepared to attack again, he was suddenly forced to move as golden spears began to fly towards him from behind the knight. The sudden barrage had taken the dark mage by surprise, as a total of three spears were able to pierce him and lodge themselves into different portions of his armor, two in the right shoulder and one in the left leg.

The knight had also closed the distance, a glow enveloping his sword as he slashed into the side of the flight suit while he wasn't able to penetrate it, but the young mage was able to feel the force as he slid a few meters. Quickly requiping his FN pistol he shot a few rounds towards the archpriest who dodged them, before quick releasing the magazine and loading in a marked one. Cocking the slide back he aimed toward the knight close to him and released a singular bullet that impacted his chest. A moment later shrapnel littered and drove itself into the knight, moments latter he slumped to his knees before hitting the ground.

Now it was only the two of them.

The priest spun his black spear, and ten more golden spears shot one after another toward the dark mage. Kil made his best effort to dodge them, however, 4 of them were able to meet their mark, one of them lodging itself into one of the jet engines, effectively grounding him for the moment.

Though what Killua didn't expect was that the priest was making an effort to get Killua in position, a giant circle had ju8st finished forming, and moments later as Kil made an effort to get out of it, a blinding pillar of holy fire shot high into the skie.

With the light dying down, Kil could be seen on one knee, panting. As pieces of his flight suit broke and fell to the ground, they soon disappeared in blue light. The armor had taken too much damage and at this point would offer no protection to the mage so he sent it back to his requip space. Blood dripped from the side of his mouth as he pushed himself up.

"I didn't expect to face a child. Fear not, you will find peace and salvation by our god." The priest said.

"I don't need salvation, I'll be the one walking out of this place." Kil said,  tainted lightning appeared in his hands, taking the shape of a spear and he quickly dashed towards the priest, taking him by surprise. Even with all the damage, Kil had taken, he still had a lot of fights in himself before he would be severely slowed down.

He had made quick contact with the priest and he could see him gritting his teeth with the lightning coursing through his body. The dark mage however wasn't done, quickly Kil coated his legs with lightning, and the priest himself attempted to stab him with his black spear. Putting himself in danger, Kil let the spear graze him, making a nasty cut on his arm, and used the opportunity to grip the spear and use it as leverage to lift himself up and deliver a powerful roundhouse kick that sent a whirlwind of lightning through the priest and behind him.

The Archvicar stood motionless for a couple of moments before he fell to the ground, Kil, in turn, falling as well as he was still holding the spear. Albeit from the two mages, the ex-soldier was able to raise as he looked at the fallen archvicar.

"You were tough, I'll give you that, unlike your comrades." Kil said, as he turned his back and walked past the other bodies, towards the Vikings. He had to tell the report to them that this part of the town was dealt with and he could leave.
