The beach is to party!

The crescent isles and the beach that came with it. Zero had seen a flyer on the guild job board talking about a huge beach party where everyone was welcome. Of course he had been very eager to attend after it and with a little trip via ship, he found himself on the beautiful island and the party line of beach goers of guild mages from all over who had also taken up their places of beach goers. Zero stepped off the ship in a white shirt and beach shorts, a straw hat resting on his head, round sun glasses and flip flop shoes. The first step off the cruise ship to the sands below was like sinking into soft beaded foam. The sand was very fine and stretched out from point to point. The warm air and soft breeze made the island feel like a paradise.

As he walked along the beach the aroma of sizzling bar b que ribs, sea food, shell fish and succulent pig cooked in fruit hit his nose. He could feel his tongue exploded with excitement from the delicious aroma of hot steaks and hot dogs cooking on grills.. Walking up he snatched a plate and moving among the tables he filled his plate with delicious food and sat down under a open umbrella with a chair. Eagerly eating into his food he leaned back to enjoy the sights of the beach people from beautiful women to strong men and even young kids and elderly folks. It seemed like everyone and their mother had heard about this beach party.

As he tore into his food he spotted other events going on, a surfing contest, a limbo contest, it seemed even the food was getting rewards he noticed. He finished his plate and got up, walking over to put his plate in the designated area. From there he turned to gaze out at the other events he considered getting involved in. He did notice among the guilds some of his own members from Fairy Tail. He considered approaching but decided he had time later, instead he focused on the events around him and the decision of which one to attend next.

Walking around the beach, he left his shoes behind so he could feel the soft sand underneath, the cool waves on his feet as he stepped into the sea and looked out at the scenery. It was a beautiful ocean, far as they eye could see the crisp clear water flowed with the sea life, the smell of the salt air filled him as he took a deep breath. He wondered what amazing creatures flowed under the waves and if he would see any of them up close while residing on this beautiful island full of people having the time of their lives. He turned his head as voices called out a coming event, a surfing contest. Eagerness filled him as he raised his hand walking towards it, ready to sign up and surf his way to victory or defeat.

Zero walked eagerly over for the surfing competition, he had done a little surfing as a kid when his father took the cult on a beach trip to discuss their weird god or whatever. Didn't help they kept looking at Zero as if he was their god reborn because of his magic type. Anyway, moving past his creepy past and the cave of giant spiders that still hunted his nightmares and the waking hours of long shadows where the shadows look like spider legs reaching out for a lone boy running through a cave system trying to remember how to get out while locked in a state of panic and fear as dozens of scuttling legs rush behind him, filling the black void with creepy clicks and terrifying thuds, and the cold water as he slid under the cave pool, saving him from the spiders but dragging him down into the icy depths.... yep not important at the moment to relive those terrifying memories....

He stopped at a sign up sheet, pushing away the dark thoughts of his old fear of drowning. He was a adult now who was a very good swimmer, he forced himself to become one. Not to mention he could just imagine a floatie or a water god into existence if he really needed to. Taking a deep breath he put pen to paper and wrote out his name. As he did, he noticed a kid standing a couple feet away, also looking at the sign up sheet. The cat glasses really said style and panash. He considered making himself some but he was more of a dog person... and he would be copying her style which wouldn't be cool at all. He turned to the sign up lady who lead him to a set of surf boards. He gazed over each one from short boards to long boards, the style they were made in, the smoothness of the grain. He stopped beside a wooden board that had been polished and cleaned. He laid a hand on it and nodded, yes, this one. A self made board with a lot of attention and care.

He picked up the board and strapped the leg bind to his ankle and carried the board out. It looked like there were different divisions so he chose the one with the adult looking people. He rolled his shoulders and waited, the whistle blew and Zero ran out with the others, throwing himself down, board and all onto the waves, he began swimming out towards the deeper water. Sliding under the waves as a big one came along he was not yet ready to take. Pushing under and up, he continued paddling out to the deeper areas. Arriving around the same time as others, he turned the board to the shore and looked over his shoulder, watching the seas with a clinical eye. He could use his own magic to create a super wave but he didn't want to cheat or take advantage. He spotted a large wave forming, the foamy salty sea pulling back, the current under his feet pulling away, the ripples of the sea, yes, this was his wave! He laid down as the wave came his way, growing in size. Zero paddled forward, feeling his board get caught on the wave and lift him up, he pushed off the board and came up onto his feet.

And like that he was on the wave, and now he gave into fate.

As soon as he stood up, the board shifted on the currents and Zero found himself going flying. He hit the water, rolling on the wave as he was washed forward and onto shore. His face red, he unhooked the board and handed it back to the woman. Than again it wasn't like he was a pro surfer who had spent years surfing, he had done it once a long time ago. Oh well. He accepted a single lei from the woman who gave him an encouraging smile. He sighed but turned to watch how the other participants were doing in their contest.

Zero dropped into the sand to relax, feeling a little sore after he took a thrasher on the wave and the board flopping around slamming into him. He was ninety percent sure he had seen his grandmother standing in a grove of flowers before vanishing to be replaced by the sea. He had watched a strange sight as what looked like a child was surfing among the adults. Even so.. they did better than he did. He sighed as he stood up and looked around trying to decide which event to compete in next. He had already munched down on some buffet and amazingly got a lea for that. He considered going back but he doubted they gave two lea's for the same event twice. He shrugged and turned to the limbo contest and considered it. At six feet high he wasn't exactly in a winning position for that game, nor was he a rubber man flexible type, though he had seen some six footers who could bend and fold like a pretzel. He was not one of them.

He looked away from it and that was when he spotted his next activity and a grin formed. People were handing out fishing poles and setting out in little boats to catch fish in a fishing contest. Zero jogged over and took a pole from a young woman who wished him luck. Fishing, this was a event he could get behind! He stepped out onto a boat and felt it slide away on it's own as if..by magic. Zero had the mindset and patience for fishing, it was something he had done as a kid when he wanted to be alone and just think. His father ran a cult and while the people were nice and all it was a little creepy to be around them. He imagined a straw hat into existence and leaned back in the boat, setting the fishing pole on it's holder and relaxing. He didn't worry about the other fishers around him, that wasn't how one won a competition like this. Zero felt a bite, a pull on his string and he reached out, pulling the line.

Out of the water leaped a massive monstrous fish, thick scales on it's long and muscular body. It has a arrow like head with slitted eyes and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth. The fish was as big or even bigger than the boat Zero was currently on and fighting like a monster for the bait. Zero set his feet as he pulled, slacking the line and pulling again, fighting the fish for the victory and knowing it all hung on the enchanted fishing line that supposedly couldn't snap. Zero strained his muscles, as he reeled his monster, feeling it pull his boat at one point before he snapped it the other way confusing the fish and pulling it further in. Oh yeah, he was definitely taking pictures of this monster as a trophy. Zero felt the fish slowing down, the fight leaving it as it expelled so much energy. It must have been use to bursts of speed to catch prey and in a fight of stamina it was truly outmatched.

Zero reeled the line in, pulling the fish up and finally he had his prize. The judges came over in their own boat, staring at the massive fish that Zero had captured. He was given a trophy and with some help they got the fish up high enough to take a picture before Zero released the monster fish back into the sea where it took off. The buffet was huge and he had no desire to kill the fish just for a trophy. He had pictures for that and those he would get made into a real big picture. The contest came to an end with Zero claiming the number one spot with his catch. He stepped off his boat and feet back into the sand, he gazed around to see which event to take over next!

Zero had finished the fishing contest and took his trophy, his lea, and his picture of the huge fish back to the shore where he was given hand shakes and claps from the other fishermen who had also competed in the competition. The picture was passed around as the fishermen admired the catch and Zero deciding to have a little fun used his magic to Imagine a stuffed version of the fish from the picture to appear. This was given more attention as no actual fish were allowed to be kept since it would have killed them for no reason. Zero counted his Lea's and from the Buffet, the surfing contest, and the fishing contest he was at three with one contest victory and one loss under his belt. He looked around and spotted the limbo contest coming to an end, a young... person with cat glasses chose to step over the bar instead of do the impossible of going under it. Like the others, Zero clapped for the performance.

His gaze turned to the horse shoe contest and noticed the winner of the limbo contest was also taking a turn at it. Zero decided to join as well, accuracy was something he prided himself on with his hands and with magic. One of his favorite spells was forming a magic bow after all. Walking over, he stood back respectfully as the girl threw her horse shoes. He took his own and stepped up to the peg beside hers, eyes narrowing as he mentally judged the distance, the weight of the horse shoe, and the direction of the wind. He flicked his wrist and the first horseshoe struck the bar and bounced off, landing in the sand in front of it. Zero adjusted his wrist, working on the timing he gave a flick and this time the second shoe spun around and hooked the pole. Zero grinned and listened as the cheers and claps came from his throw. He looked over seeing the distraction getting to the other player.

"Tune out the noise, it helps if you play a song in your head that helps you focus. Don't just throw them, feel the weight in your hand and the distance to the pole itself. Deep breath, and throw on the exhale."

He didn't mind giving advice for the competition, it wasn't like it was for money or anything, it was just for fun. Zero turned back to his own horse shoes and took a deep breath, like he told her, he threw the horse shoe on the breath out. Watching it fly through the air and once more hook the pole. Zero raised a hand as more cheers broke out, the claps getting louder. He hoped he wasn't doing too much to outshine the other competitors, he was a bit of a archer master and he wished the place had done a archery contest but the horse shoes were good enough for an accuracy lover like him. He still had two more to throw, he pulled his arm back and tossed, this time the shoe struck the bar but bounced off behind it. He laughed at himself for getting arrogant but he still had one left.

Zero pulled back and released, sending the last horse shoe flying through the air and like two others, it hooked and spun and slid down giving him three on the bar, one beside it, and one just behind it. The cheers continued before Zero stepped away taking a fourth Lei. He turned and waited for the other players to do their throws but he felt he may have won this one as well.
