How long has it been since then? Doppo really couldn't seem to label the event correctly or to give it a name, but remembered it clearly. The building was falling, enemies were flooding in, prisoners were scrambling out. It was a chaotic situation that somehow found resolution. After that resolve, the Rune Knights effectively established their presence over Fiore once again, and the streets had never been safer. They've inspired others to join their efforts and forged bonds inseverable by external means. It was their job, but it's nothing that wasn't worth celebrating.
It wasn't just their overall performance that they were going to celebrate, however. Intermittendly, usuall by seasons, a wave of Knights are promoted into the next echelon of their department, and there are almost always an influx of new recruits to fill the spaces they've vacated. The men and women who were at the bottom have found their way to the top, and yet very little had changed at work. It was just the next step, and natural way of things if you were as capable and respectable as you were on paper. But it's nothing that wasn't worth celebrating.
The people who've joined the ranks have often developed in positive ways since. The kind ones have become kinder, and the ones who were never ones for friends managed to find a coterie of like-minded individuals. Recruits trained and got stronger, and some found that the department they've chosen was not the one that could best boast their real talents, also finding others who show them that. Even Doppo, who only joined for a paycheck, couldn't help but notice how he was changing. He hated events like this where the people were loud and they charged you for every drink you drank, but somehow he didn't seem to hate it as much anymore. It wasn't an enormous change, but it was nothing that wasn't worth celebrating in his eyes.
It was the beginning of the evening hours in Era, and an entire bar and grill was reserved for the Rune Knights at headquarters alone. The officers were just getting off work and were beginning to congregate in the restaurant, already chatting together and finding seats. Doppo had already arrived as his shift had ended an hour or two ago, and he placed himself in a booth closest to the window. He was refused a menu until all of the guests had arrived, so he was sitting there idlely, staring out of the glass with his usual fatigued countenance.
