Buildings were being poured on by what seemed like rivers as rain fell from the sky. The rain covered the entire large city known for its high end establishments, prices and most of all, the leadership being of multiple gangs. Nocens was a city built up by gangs as a way for them to work together and make their own piece of paradise. This paradise turned into a place where people could go to get away from their issues as long as they paid a price but was also used as a sort of resort city for those who wanted to have a vacation. It is located on and around one of the largest beaches in Fiore which contributed to its attraction to others. It is laid out like most large cities in Fiore but was only recently constructed around four to five years ago which makes it the newest city in Fiore. Rumor has it that the gangs pay off any officials to make sure that the business that happens in Nocens, stays in Nocens.

The rain started to become heavier as a long limo-like vehicle pulled up to one of the buildings and let out multiple heavily clothed men who each had an umbrella. The men all stood in a line leading from a door of the vehicle to the entrance into the building. The guard at the building's entrance opened the door for whomever he was expecting and did not speak a word. A older man with black and graying hair, dressed in a black suit opened the door of the vehicle, scoffed at his men and without a word continued to walk under each of their umbrellas and into the building. Once he was inside, each man would close his umbrella and follow quickly inside behind their boss. The building they found themselves in was very high class with a casino area for what looked like to be for only the richest of people in the city. The older man moved through the casino floor where he would find his way to another guarded door, this time by two large men dressed very professionally in suits. He would nod to both of them, receiving a similar gesture back before he was let inside of the room. Most of his men stayed behind with the guards but two of them went with him. Inside the older man would move to a table where six other well dressed men sat. He would take the empty seat with his guards standing closely behind him. He'd let out an angered grunt before he spoke. "What are we here for? We should be running these Rune Knights out of our city and out of our business completely!" His agitated speech caused some of the others to glare at him but by the expression on his face he could care less. "Calpo, we each know that but we need to have this meeting to discuss things as it seems we have a mole somewhere and me being the one voted in charge of this city after will not let this stand. If I did then I will renounce my name as Godfather Suldain!" A man dressed in a blue suit spoke up and then shattered a glass of a brown liquid in his hand from how forcefully he gripped it. He was not cut by the glass but some men quickly rushed over as he put his hand out towards them. They quickly cleaned his hand and the mess and returned to simply watching. "Maybe it is one of your servants there...?" Calpo spoke out and again was given multiple glares but Suldain chuckled. "Did you forget that each of these men have a spell on them that if they disobey any of our orders they will die a vicious death from a poison that will develop inside of their bodies?" Suldain continued chuckling after he spoke. "Any good mage can find a way to get rid of that spell's effects, I bet." Suldain stopped chuckling and glared at Calpo. "Maybe you are the little worm who spoke up after you were not voted to lead us for another year, old man." Calpo stared at Suldain for a short time before slamming his fists into the table, breaking a chunk of it off. This caused ever gang leader in sitting near to quickly stand up and their men to pull out their ethernano powered weapons and point them at each other faction in the room. "I'm tired of you talking down to me like that, boy! I should have killed you years ago before you got so cocky like this!" Calpo yelled out as he men rushed in front of him to protect him from any attacks. "I'd love to see ya try so I can finally get a reason to help you kick the bucket!"

The gang leaders argument was cut short as a blast of magical energy ripped through the entrance of the room. Multiple men dressed in Rune Knight uniforms rushed into the room aiming their weapons at all of the men in the room, sparking the beginning of a chaotic situation. "All of you are to get down and surrender yourselves to us! We have evidence of what you are doing in this city and are here to end it!" A Rune Knight with service stripes on his uniform to show he had been in service for as long as most of the men around him had been alive. The guards around their gang leaders tensed up from the scene getting worse for them but neither side attacked the other as the stand off continued. "You have five seconds to drop your weapons and surrender. I will allow you to count it down yourself." The gang leaders did not want to give up to the Rune Knights but they were slowly falling apart in their rule over things causing some of them to tell their men to drop their weapons, which their men listened to. This caused the others to contemplate doing the same but before they could a voice spoke out from behind the veteran Rune Knight. "Major Lincoel, right?" The voice came from behind the Rune Knights which caused the Major to turn around where he was impaled through the chest by multiple spears of black lightning. Before the other Rune Knights could react they were met with a barrage of spells that did a variety of things to them, making quick work of each of them. A white haired man with emerald green eyes was who spoke out to the Major and killed him, along with some others.

"I'll take this situation here as if you owe me a favor, huh?" A twisted grin was flashed to the gang leaders from him as he stepped over each corpse he and his group had just left. The gang leaders did not know what to say or how to react as they had just thought they were goners and were saved by a group who killed all of their soon to be captors. "I am Cirven Mizune and we are the Detergers. We are here looking for a certain man that you let into your little city of, how should I put this? Misfits. Yeah, misfits." Suldain lashed out and took it upon himself to make a call. He grabbed a ethernano pistol from one of his men and fired a shot at Cirven that hit directly into the Devil's head. Cirven's head jerked backward from the shot and stayed backwards as he stayed standing. "We don't owe you anything! Just die!" Suldain's voice yelled out as Cirven's body seemed as though it was about to fall backwards from the shot to his head but it didn't. "You know, there are much better ways of greeting your saviors, especially if you think they are actually the opposite." Cirven spoke while he head was still jerked backward. Two horns shot out from his head causing blood to rush out and cover his face. "I will show you one of those ways." He said as he moved his head back down to face Suldain and the others, it being covered in blood but the hole that should have been in his head was not there. Cirven seemed to disappear and reappear in front of Suldain. His men attempted to react quickly but before they could Cirven dodged them and stared into the eyes of one of them causing him to stop in his tracks as a orange flash came over his emerald green eyes. Cirven jumped backward with a grin on his face still. "I'm sorry, I forgot that I shouldn't dirty my hands with someone like you. It kind of ruins the clothes and skin, you know? No worries though. I got a replacement. Kill them." The guard he had looked into the eyes of sudden took his ethernano gun and shoved it into the mouth of Calpo before pulling the trigger multiple times. His partner shot his gun a couple times into his body but did not stop him. This only caused him to pull out another gun and fire it at his partner multiple times. He proceeded to attack the other gang members in a similar way while Cirven watched. "It is funny what someone will do when they are simply given an order. I wish we had some popcorn or snacks or something though for this little show we are getting." He cackled as his 'slave' killed each of the guards and gang leaders with Calpo being the only one left. "Oh yeah!" Cirven spoke out just before he could kill Calpo and a large amount of black lightning erupted over the body of the man, killing him. "I almost forgot we needed you alive for questioning! Silly me, right? Though we could have let you die anyways and just figured things out. Let's hope you have the answers we want because if not, you will be joining in on the scene here." After his words, one of the members of his group, Korvin would use her magic to open a portal into a dimension she created for them. "Let's go, Calpo. We wouldn't want to keep that little interrogation seat waiting now, would we?" Cirven would laugh as he and the others forced Calpo into the portal and joined him inside of it.

    They were all dead.

Not a single person was left alive after what just happened—whatever just happened. You couldn't even see the floor through the bodies—Rune Knight and Guard—littering it and the blood the pouring from their wounds. It was absolutely atrocious and needlessly gruesome judging by their wounds.

The reaction of the squad that arrived just seconds too late from the massacre was suppressed. They all spoke loud enough to be heard, but a deafening silence overtook them all—even Major Suzuki, who was typically soft-spoken. Each knight found themselves hovering over the corpses and end up shutting their eyes for them. While the situation was time-sensitive, everyone seemed to find time to put the dead to rest as best they could. Doppo did the same in the same silence as everyone else did, even for the guard of the gang members.

"How despicable. . ." murmured one sergeant.

"Whoever did this messed with the wrong people. . .!" another private chimed vengefully. Everyone seemed to be speaking of their own thoughts at this moment.

"All of our targets are dead or missing. . ." a rather sheepish private from the combat corps hummed. Doppo raised his head at this comment and rubbed the nape of his neck curiously.

". . . Private Winstrum." Doppo cooed to Private Winstrum who was really Private Windum. He was never good with names.

The private's blushing face almost bled through his helmet as he'd suddenly erect and salute Doppo, "Sir!"

"Who's missing. . .?" Doppo asked almost inaudibly.

"Oh—uh—Calpo, sir! We didn't find a body or any traces of his escape!" Private Winstrum stood to attention with a stiff posture. Doppo, meanwhile, was ruffling his hair in a fit of irritation.

"Just my luck. . . just as shit as ever. . ." the Major cursed beneath his breath.

Private Winstrum relaxed his posture curiously at the inaudible noises coming from his Major, "Sir?"

"Noth—nevermind. Just get a body count and report back to me when you do. . . okay? Got it. . .?" Doppo looked up to Private Winstrum—he was several inches taller than him—with suppressed irritation. Why did the tall ones have to be the most cowardly? It really annoyed him at times like these. Regardless, the private gave him the stiffest salute he could possibly give before skedaddling off to get the body count.

So what did this mean? Everyone was dead except Calpo. In fact, there was nothing telling them that he was even still alive—just gone. Vanished out of thin air, it looked. Doppo was in the center of the tragedy mulling over the facts and couldn't seem to draw a realistic conclusion. What could've happened to have both sides massacred like this? The odds of the deceased Rune Knights and Guards trading men in, say, a gunfight were so unlikely. Major Lincoel's men were well-equipped and prepared for a gunfight. No—in fact—the entire possibility couldn't have existed!

With this sudden realization, Doppo perked up without energy or enthusiasm and walked over to the nearest line of corpses and sighed, pushing his red hairline up from his forehead. A sergeant approached Major Suzuki when noticing his sudden change in expression.

"We've got a body count for our men and theirs, Major Suzu—"

". . .Say, none of these gang leaders—or whatever they call themselves—or their guards were magically equipped, right?" Doppo interrupted intrusively whilst pinching the ends of his hair.

The sergeant didn't hesitate to respond, "No, sir. Only the Rune Knights were both equipped with firearms and magic—"

". . .Guns can't do that kind of stuff, ya' know? Not even army knives could leave these kinds of wounds." he constructively interrupted her again. Doppo began to point at the various different wounds left on the victims' bodies, "Only Major Lincoel had magic that slashed and inflicted wounds like these."

The sergeant perked up and become somewhat pale, "Major Suzuki, if only Major Lincoel could inflict these kinds of wounds, that would mean that he killed everyone here, and then himself." she cooed back to him cooly.

Doppo sighed again and shrugged nonchalantly, ". . .I guess you'd be right if Major Lincoel was the only mage who could do that kind of stuff. . . it's a lot more common than you think, sergeant."

There was a brief moment of silence between the two, the busy Rune Knights in the background working diligently to assess the situation while they both did the same. The sergeant seemed overcome with deep thought for a moment before a light suddenly flickered in her eyes. It was as if a lightbulb hovering over her head suddenly sprung to light.

"A third party?" she stared at Doppo.

"Obviously. . ." the redhead glared at the sergeant with some sort of disappointment, ". . . what kind of guy would kill himself with his magic like that? Impaling from the back? What kind of sense does that make? It also doesn't explain where Calpo has run off to. . . are you guys getting any leads with that. . .?"

"Nothing, sir. If he had jumped from the building, we would've found the body. But. . ." although somewhat shocked at this revelation, the sergeant diligently responded to Doppo without so much as a pause but seemed to be unable to find the words towards the end.

The redheaded Major's posture shrunk at this response and his expression became indifferently sour again. "Nothing, huh. . .? Well, things don't just vanish, now do they?"

Doppo never liked participating in investigations. It exhausted him physically and mentally and he always ended up having to expedite and manage others like this. But the key to going home was making progress and solving this case, so that's precisely what he intended to do. He didn't plan on staying in this wretched city any more than he had to.

"So you only know who knows? That info is a bit annoying after all the work we just did. I guess I will have to give this Sultun. You said he is Suldani's son? That gives me an idea..." Cirven spoke as Calpo hung from chains that were strewn about the area around him and came from multiple different dimensional rifts near him. They stood in a dimensional pocket that was completely white besides the gore that a torturing had caused. Along with them were some others who were part of Cirven's group called the Detergers. Korvin, Laniiar and Ves stood and watched as their leader had tortured the man. "Cirven, we may not have a lot of time to find him now. Lanis and Nakiya are keeping an eye out on the casino and it looks like the Rune Knights had some reinforcements." Laniiar spoke from behind Cirven after she received some intel from the others. "Oh? You hear that Calpo? That means our time here is at its end. You gave me what info you could it seems but a soul like yours is not exactly one that we should have in this world, is it? I'm sure you have multiple atrocities you have caused in some way." Cirven spoke as he walked around a nearly dead Calpo who mustered the energy to speak through all the pain and anguish. "...Don't kill me.. I ga..ve.. you what you wanted...I.. Jus'.. Want to.. Live..." The mafia man spoke out to those around him showing just how close he was to passing out on them. "Kill you!? No, no, no! We have better plans for you than that, my dear mafioso!" After Cirven's words were spoken the chains released Calpo and let him drop to the floor where Cirven stood over him. "Just like anything in life, There is a price to having you 'live' though." Cirven spoke out as a scythe came out of a dimensional rift near him. He quickly grabbed the weapon and stabbed it into the body of Calpo. "This is your penance, sir." Cirven spoke out as an orange hue came over his green eyes.

    -----------------------------------------------

In another part of the city a young male Rune Knight ran through the streets of Nocens with a look of pure anger on his face. He stood in front of a one of the tallest buildings in the city named The Palace, as he panted from his running. "They had to do this.. I will kill them all for taking father away!" The young man kicked open the doors of the building and seconds later the sounds of fighting could be heard from outside of it along with the building being seen have pieces of it break outwards and sending debris out into the streets below.

    -----------------------------------------------

Back at the casino one of the Rune Knights working with Doppo named Qins, looked to be getting some type of message in his earpiece that caused him to become somewhat flustered during their investigation. "Major Doppo!" Qins spoke out and rushed over to his superior. "I just got word, sir! The late Major's son was seen storming the building of Sultun's mafia group! There is a lot of damage being done to the building from the inside but the authorities around here have not gone in. Something to do with a 'agreement' to not interfere with mafia affairs. The debris is causing issues for the citizens around the building and possibly need saving but the authorities won't even try to help! Do you think the Major's son, erm, I mean Private Teren got some sort of lead and is storming the place alone? He would need back up for something like that, sir!" Qins started to question things to the Major but did not wait for answers before continuing. Doppo would know that Qins trained to be a Rune Knight with Teren so there was a sort of comradely between them.

    -----------------------------------------------

In the top floor of The Palace building, Sultun sat with multiple of his men around him at a large table as they had a meeting over some affairs with a guest but before they could continue one of his men came rushing into the room frantically. "I swear do any of you fucks know how to knock!? We are in a meeting so I hope this is important or else I will have your genitals hung up on a wall as a plaque!" Sultun spoke out angrily. "Sorry sir but there is a Rune Knight attacking the building! He is killing everyone downstairs and-" The man was cut off by Sultun speaking. "What the hell!? Kill him! All of you go and deal with this man!" All of the men sitting at the table ran off with a nod to their leader while one older man stayed at the table. "I'm sorry, Calpo. I know you wanted to discuss giving up your territory to me with the others here but you will have to talk to me yourself it looks like with this situation. I'm sure they can handle a single Rune Knight." Calpo smiled at Sultun. "Not a problem at all, Sultun! I know you are a busy man after all so this will be fine. It is probably much better this way anyways with what I had planned." Sultun did not have time to react before Calpo pulled out a ethernano pistol and attempted to take a shot at Sultun. The shot came just in front of Sultun before he was able to swat it away with his hand that was now covered in a silver metal. He then put his hand out facing Calpo that sent multiple spikes of metal at the older man, making him a pin cushion of flesh and metal. "Like I would not see that coming you old failure! This is dog eat dog after all! You probably set up this attack too, I bet. Doesn't matter though. My boys and I will handle it." Sultun started to move out of the room but stopped as he heard the chair Calpo was in scoot across the floor towards him. He quickly turned around forming his arm into a mass of metal that cut through Calpo and the chair. He noticed the man was still dead but now saw a white haired man sitting in his chair. "Oh! Sorry! I did not mean to scare you. I just did not want that waste of a carcass near me. It is really hard to find good new help, isn't it?" Cirven spoke out and kicked his feet up onto the large round table. "Who the hell are you and why are you in my chair?!" Sultun used his hand to shoot multiple large metallic spikes at Cirven but found they all would miss as the man quickly dodged them by kicking off the table and skidding across the ground. "Whoa, whoa! I am only here for some questions I need answered, Sultun. The aggression is not needed. How about you try to smile and laugh a little over being so angry all the time. It isn't like your father is dead or something, is it?" A twisted grin came over Cirven's face after he spoke and Sultun's eyes widened. "What are you talking about?!" Sultun shot more metal at Cirven but found that each missed its target over and over while Cirven laughed and darted around in his chair until Sultun managed to one up the devil by using a unexpected spell. This spell allowed Sultun to cause limbs similar to his to form out of the metal he had thrown, formed it into a long spear-like piece of metal and stabbed Cirven directly where his heart would be. The sudden protrusion of a spike through his chest caused Cirven to stop laughing and skid to a stop as he gasped for air as blood rushed from his mouth. Sultun walked over to Cirven and shook his head. "You are just some crazed idiot that managed to sneak into my office. Nothing special at all." Sultun grabbed the spear he had made and shoved it deeper into Cirven, who gasped out in pain. "Just di-" Sultun's sentence was cut off as Cirven started to move into the spear more with a grin over his face. "Interesting that you would say that. I wonder how much pain you can take? How many hearts do you have that you can lose?" Sultun started to move away but Cirven grabbed him with a crazed look that came over his face.

In the lower floors of The Palace, Teren had ripped through mafia member after mafia member showing that his body had been through battle after battle through its newly given injuries but he kept moving through the building. He cut down person after person with his sword in tandem with his magic that supported his swordsmanship. He was one of the most talented members the Rune Knights had seen when it came to fighting alone but his temper was what kept him at a lower rank as not many in the Rune Knights could handle him at all. His father managed to get him placed under him but that would be at an end now seeing as he was now dead, a fact that Teren kept running through his mind over and over as he cut his way through the building. He went up floor after floor fighting men before he finally reached the top floor where he would find a large set of double doors blocking his way into the room where the owner of the building was. He quickly kicked the door down as he yelled out in a furious rage. "Sultun! You did it, didn't you!? You-" His words were cut off as his eyes recognized just what was going on in front of him. The body of Sultun laid on the ground with a hole in his chest where his heart would be with a white haired man dressed in loose black clothing held his heart in his hand and then threw it to the side. "I swear! Does anyone know how to knock anymore?" Cirven spoke out with his body covered in blood and eyed over Teren. "You must be the one who gave me an easier time meeting that corpse over there back when it could talk and move around, you know that living stuff that we can do."

The sergeant and Major continued to review the situation and ponder the possibilities for several minutes, one bringing up one possibility and the other disproving it. It was one of the reasons why the Major disliked investigations on such a large scale since things never seemed to progress as quickly as he wanted them to and the circumstances changed so sporadically. His next interaction examplified this well.

"Major Doppo!" someone called out to him. It was Private Qins, a young man in the Combat Corps who would've been a staff sergeant by now if he weren't hanging around Private Teren so often. He was a capable young Private who had potential to shoot up int he ranks if he found the right crowd, but unfortunately, many of his colleagues saw this and used his sheepishness for their own benefit. "I just got word, sir! The late Major's son was seen storming the building of Sultun's mafia group! There is a lot of damage being done to the building from the inside but the authorities around here have not gone in. Something to do with an 'agreement' to not interfere with mafia affairs. The debris is causing issues for the citizens around the building and possibly needs saving but the authorities won't even try to help! Do you think the Major's son, erm, I mean Private Teren got some sort of lead and is storming the place alone? He would need back up for something like that, sir!" Qins fretted.

The sergeant looked shocked and taken aback by the news. "What?! He's going to jeopardize our entire mission!" she exclaimed angrily towards Private Qins, but both of them knew that she was frustrated over the circumstances and not him specifically. Major Suzuki, on the other hand, was staring blankly at Private Qins, contemplating their circumstances. It reminded him of why he hated being in charge of investigations so much as everything was so unpredictable and ever-changing and there was so little he and others could do about it aside from adapting to them.

"The building of the Sultun? The uhmmm—the whatchamalcallit. . . The Palace?. . ." the Major looked at the sergeant and private.

    "Correct, sir."

". . .Which squad is closest to it?"

    "Echo, sir."

    ". . .Put on Lieutenant Commander Louie's line, please. . ."

The sergeant looked over to Private Qins once Doppo made the request, and Private Qins would consequently fetch his radiolac—which was essentially just a "military-grade" radio—and tune it to the Lieutenant Commander's frequency. Here in Nocens, two Majors, including Doppo, along with a couple of other Lieutenant Commanders, were sent in a moderately sized regiment to establish a presence in the city and to perhaps resolve some issues. As a result, there were about two-hundred-fifty Rune Knights currently in the city, scattered around the place and triangulating one another. Private Qins handed it to Major Suzuki, who held it up to his mouth.

    Kssh. . .

"Lieutenant Commander, do you read me?"

"Copy that, sir." Lieutenant Commander Louie responded.

"What's Echo squad's current status? Over. . ." the Major continued with the radiolac jargon, which he disliked, but was expected to use.

    "Standing by, sir."

"Lieutenant Commander, you are Private Teren's commanding officer, correct?"

    "That's correct, sir."

"I've received intelligence here at Alpha that he is currently not with you. . . Is this correct?"

"Yes, sir. . . I'm sorry, sir. . . over." the Lieutenant Commander apologized gruffly. Major Suzuki sighed.

"Okay. . ." Major Suzuki grumbled, cursing something under his breath, "How many Knights are in your unit? Over."

"Approximately one-hundred, sir. Including Private Teren. Over." Lieutenant Commander Louie responded. It wasn't much of a surprise that Echo had the greatest amount of Rune Knights standing by since they were closest to the Sultan's primary quarters. Other units like Foxtrot, Lima, and his own, Alpha, were scattered around Nocens gathering intelligence.

Echo's unit was the largest, and whoever Private Teren was pursuing was most likely in that building. Due to Private Teren's security and the jeopardy he had sent Echo spiraling into, Major Suzuki couldn't refuse the opportunity.

"Dispatch the most well-equipped Knights in your unit to pursue Private Teren. Their mission is to retrieve him and to avoid engaging any spotted targets of possible. Do you read me, Lieutenant Commander?"

    "Copy that, Major. Wilco. Over."

"Knights from Alpha will rendezvous with Echo ASAP. Continue operations. Out."

    Kssh. . .

Doppo sighed again and began to rub his temples as the exchange between officers ended. What was Private Teren thinking? How could he fall so deeply into a rage that he'd go AWOL and why couldn't his unit apprehend him? The frustration of the situation finally began to show on his face, realizing that one fool could throw their entire operation into such turbulence.

"Sergeant," Doppo snatched a hair-tie from his rear pocket and began to tie the shock of red hair covering only his forehead to the scalp of his head, "Will you be able to continue operating over here without some of the corporals and privates, yeah?"

The sergeant sprung up and nodded confidently, her demeanor now poised. "Yes sir."

Doppo looked at her with his usual baggy glare, devoid of malice. "Mm." he nodded, grabbing his black coat that laid across a crooked table as he approached the doors of the room. Just before he left, he paused and yawned. "Scott, Winter, Halan. With me."

"Sir!" the two women and one man responded in energetic unison. Together, the Knights in Black stepped over "DO NOT CROSS" tape stretching across in entrance of the room, dispatching for The Palace.

"Unit Echo A, do you read?" a masculine voiced penetrated the radiolac in each of the fifteen Knights' ears. All of them were readied with magical assault rifles, state of the art bulletproof vests that could defend them from most projectiles from mages A-class and below, and body armor for general protection with a Rune Knight insignia on their chests and backs. One man rose two digits to the radiolac fixed in their ear.

"Copy that. On-standby and awaiting orders." There was a small pause and the tension was high. But the man on the other side of the radiolac eventually responded.

"Advance. Remember, your unit's mission is to secure Private Teren. . . Avoid combat if possible. . . I repeat. . .  avoid combat if possible. . ." the radiolac echoed, and as soon as he finished, the group of fifteen proceeded to stomp through The Palace by none other than a simple gesture made by the receiver.

    Thud! Thud! Thud!

The small unit hastily advanced through the floors of The Palace, stepping over the corpses of mafioso with only a single glance if any at all, their firearms never leaving a posture of readiness, their guards perpetually up. But as they scaled the tower and noticed the number of corpses never decreasing as they climbed each floor, they all couldn't help but chatter about it.

"That Teren's a f*cking psychopath, shit. . ." one corporal commented harshly through his radiolac at a local frequency that only Echo A could hear, stepping over the corpses with revulsion.

One of ten privates echoed him. "He's definitely going to get terminated once we get out of this shitty city."

"He's going to get more than a termination, you know. He's probably going to get jail time. . . it's basically murder at this rate. . ."

The unit exploded into quiet mumbling chitchat, somehow remaining just as tense before whilst gossiping. The staff sergeant that led them finally took control after only a few comments were exchanged.

"Quiet! Shut your mouths and advance! Our mission is to secure Private Teren, not talk about him. Now move!" he commanded, the disciplined squadron falling into silence after the first word.

The group transversed the massacre and finally arrived to the very top with a quickness only recognizable by the efficiency and skill of the Rune Knight Combat Corps. The corpses seemed to decrease in their multitude, but the large double-doors knocked off their hinges just in front of them displayed a much more frightening event about to take place.

    Kssh. . .

"This is Staff Sergeant Xennen reporting in. Do you read me, Echo?" Xennen raised a hand to gesture his men to stop.

The man at the outpost just outside of The Palace responded only after a short pause. "Copy. What is the status? Over."

All of the men were getting in as plausible of a formation as they could in the narrow corridor leading to the gigantic room ahead of them, their firearms aimed forward and everyone prepared to rush in. Private Teren was just in front of them, talking to someone. "We have secured visual of Private Teren. Proceeding in three. . . two. . . one. . ."

    THUD! THUD! THUD! THUD!

The crowd of armored Knights rushed into the room with their firearms ready, circling around the space from the door to the back of the room. Together, all fifteen of them made a loose oval shape. All eyes were on the man covered in blood, Calpo's halfed corpse, and Private Teren.

"Rune Knights, hands in the air! You are under arrest! Resist and we are authorized to use lethal force!" Xennen demanded, all of their eyes distant and veiled through the dark, black goggles of their gear.

    Kssh. . .

"This is Sergeant Dextral from Unit Echo A. We've secured visual of Private Teren, an unknown male covered in blood, and Calpo's alleged corpse. I repeat. . . we've secured visual of. . ."

"Oh? Back up already?" Cirven put up both of his hands as he practically was dripping in the life liquid of the man with a hole in his chest laying on the ground. "~I know what this looks like but he was asking for it, officer~" Cirven spoke out in what sounded like he was trying to fake feeling sorry for what he had done. "Shut up! Get on the floor with your hands up!" One of the Rune Knights spoke out with their ethernano gun pointed at Cirven. "Don't like a little joke? You should really try to laugh more. The most gruesome of times can be the funniest ones with the right type of head on your shoulders, at least I think that way." Cirven spoke as he looked at the gore he had near him and then dropped to his knees while holding his hands up. The Rune Knights did not respond to his comment and cautiously moved in to subdue him. Cirven did not drop the grin on his face as they moved up to him and one of them took out some ethernano-suppressing handcuffs, put Cirven's hands behind his back and cuffed him. "Kind of tight, don't you think?" The devil said as the Rune Knight finished cuffing him, The Rune Knight tightened the cuffs more as a reply to his words. "Oh? You like it rough, huh?" Cirven said as he gave the armored Rune Knight a seductive look. He could not tell if the Rune Knight was a man or woman due to all of the armor but decided to mess with them anyways. "Shu-Shut up!" The Rune Knight spoke out and hit the back of his rifle into Cirven's chest to knock the wind out of him. Cirven coughed loudly after the gun slammed into him. The Rune Knight then helped Cirven back to his feet, took position behind him and started to move him towards the others when Cirven resisted moving any further. "What are you doing? Move!" The Rune Knight ordered but Cirven did not move. He went to push Cirven forward but before he could the devil dropped down to the floor just as a metal blade flew from behind them and cut through the armored Rune Knight before it whizzed by Cirven's head. The Rune Knights head fell from his body and dropped to the ground with his body following seconds after. "Looks like you wasted that head of yours.." Cirven spoke out just before he had to dodge multiple blades sent from Sultan who had somehow revived from missing his own heart. "Interesting to see that you don't need a heart to live. You some type of monster?" The room was covered in blades from Sultan's attacks. His face showed pure anger about what had happened and he did not care who was in his way of getting it which would cause all of the others in the room to have to move dodge or become minced. "Do you know how much this will cost to fix? DO YA!?" Sultan screamed out.

    -----------------------------------------------------

Back at the casino crime scene the bodies of the dead Rune Knight and mafioso alike, would show signs of life even through the injuries on their body would have been fatal to them. Each of the recently dead would start to attack the living in the room, even the not so late Major Lincoel. "They have seen too much. Kill them." His orders would be heard to his men who were recently dead. The Rune Knights who were dead would work with the mafioso members to start killing all of the Rune Knights who were not from the city. Major Lincoel would speak into his comm to the others stationed under him in the city. "We have been found out. Kill any that are not residents in the city. We cannot afford this to get out. We will worry about the clean up after. Lincoel out." The order would be absolute and lead to every Rune Knight that was stationed in the city to start killing all that they knew were not from the city.

    ------------------------------------------------------

"I'm actually curious about that.." Cirven spoke as he was dodging attack after attack with his hands cuffed behind his back. The sound of foot steps would start to be heard from nearby in the building. The Rune Knights had all taken cover on the outside of the office while the two fought. "He had his heart in his hand... How is Sultan alive? What the hell is going on?!" Teren questioned the others but none of them could answer as they were just as confused on what was going on. "We are to move out with Teren and get out of this building. We have our objective and need to get out of here with every man that we can. We will not lose anyone el-" The Sergeant was speaking when a sudden spike of pure flames stabbed through the lower half of his torso and then ripped out of him. He fell to the ground unconscious from the sudden pain it had caused. At the end of the hall stood multiple members of Sultan's group who each had fatal injuries that Teren had given them but they were all standing through the injuries as if nothing had happened to them. Teren quickly had an idea as he figured whatever they were dealing with was out of their control. They started to fight against the enemy but were outnumbered completely and without any element of surprise like they would have had earlier. "We need to get out of here now. Did you bring the aerial transport equipment?" Teren asked causing the others to look at him weird. "You mean the glider wings, right? Yes we have those, That was one of the ideas we had for quickly getting out of here." Teren did not wait for anymore of a response before using his magic to quickly cut a hole through a wall where they could quickly escape with the injured Sergeant.

Back with the fight with Cirven, the devil was still cuffed and now had some of Sultan's men to deal with as well as Sultan's constant attacks. The numbers mixed with the fact that the cuffs on his wrists was restricting his use of magic put him in a back predicament where he was beaten by the men and then impaled by a large spear-like piece of metal to a wall by Sultan. Sulan's men let him get in front of Cirven. "I am going to find, take out every one of your hearts and take my time doing it." Sultan said as he stared daggers at the impaled devil. Cirven laughed as blood dropped out from his mouth from the beating he had taken. "I had some questions for you but it looks like I will have to get them another way. I doubt you know much of anything with how simple minded you are..." Sultan's face blew up into the color red just before he went to shoot out a barrage of metal blades at Cirven. A green aura came from off of Cirven's body follows by that green aura mixing with a red aura causing a black aura to form over Cirven. The metal blades would turn into ethernano particles just before they could hit Cirven and the devil would start to slide up the spear in an attempt to get it out through and out of him. The group of enemies would look on confused before multiple of them would try to attack Cirven but each that came close to him would find their bodies completely destroyed and turned into nothing but ethernano particles. "I'm sorry. I'm not one for holding back much. You won't be having much of an after life because of it but knowing you, you probably deserve it."

Just as the armored Rune Knights with Teren would make their escape from the top floor, an explosion of a dark magical energy would engulf the entire top floor. The magical energy would disperse leaving nothing but a mass of ethernano particles that would slowly dissolve away with Cirven standing around it with the top floor barely able to hold itself together. "Going to need to find another lead it looks like. With them waking up like that I'm sure the casino will have answers. Daddy dearest really does have a sort of hard on for me, huh?" He spoke to himself before taking on the form of black electricity and zipping through the skies towards his next destination.
