Wearing her signature white t-shirt and desert camouflage shorts with tan boots and tan backpack, Leona Jarnefeldt strolled into Hargeon Town and made her way to the Docks. She was here to acquire a passport. Even Guildless mages knew that the jobs that paid big money and conferred equally big prestige were abroad. She wanted in on the future payday, so she decided to get a passport while she was thinking about it. As it turned out, a lot of other people wanted a passport too.

Leona took her place in the back of the line and stood patiently.

The line was advancing slowly. Children began to cry. Tempers began to flare. Leona was determined to persevere through it all. She was willing to wait however long it took to get a passport.

Leona felt someone grab her arms and try to force her out of her place in line. She struggled briefly but was on the verge of losing. Assistance arrived in the form of a police officer.

"STOP RIGHT THERE!" The police officer shouted. Leona was abruptly released. The young male offender was promptly escorted to the very back of the line. Leona quickly reclaimed her place.

Three hours after Leona started waiting in line, the line was progressing. Some impatient people ahead of her simply gave up. Others vowed to return for another attempt tomorrow. Leona would not leave yet. Not without the passport she came for.

Leona watched the line inch forward. She was getting closer to her goal. Just a little more patience and she would have what she came for. After another hour she was standing in the doorway to the building. She gave a fist pump when she stepped into the building proper.

Ahead of her was another line. Leona's heart sank.

Five hours into the wait Leona was beginning to reach the limits of her patience. What was taking so long? The blonde took a deep breath. She was not going to throw away the time spent waiting by losing her temper and doing something stupid. Patience was key.

"Next." A female voice called out. Leona could hardly believe it. No one was ahead of her. She was overjoyed. She all but skipped to the counter.

"OK, fill these papers out." The female bureaucrat requested in a monotone voice, handing a stack of papers to Leona. Leona was happy to oblige.

Six hours after her ordeal started, Leona exited the building clutching a coveted passport. Her coveted passport. Now she was legally qualified to pursue the lucrative jobs that took her to foreign locales. She placed the small blue booklet in her backpack and zipped it completely closed. She strolled past the line of hopefuls pursuing their own passports.

However, just because Leona had a passport did not mean she should immediately charge off into the wilderness. She needed to start out small. She should take a few easy jobs and work her way up from there.

    Patience was a virtue.
