It had been a year now since the leader of the spiritual calling cast had been in Era for something other than business, then again his visit here a year ago was because he was to be the translator for Ruvel. He was so glad when that deaging curse came to an end, he understood everything that Ruvel was saying and could let people know what the youth had said. The problem was that he didn't know the language well enough to tell Ruvel what was being said by the people he was conversing with. He knew that was still something he needed to work on so it was on his ever growing todo list, right now all his time was going towards trying to find a solution to his young summoners blindness. Normally it wouldn't be a major thing an eye transplant could be done or magic could be used to fix the issues, problem with what was wrong with Ruvel was that his wounds were done by the weapon of a member of the spiritual calling cast. More than that the one who had done it was his equal given it was his twin sister Demiari who had betrayed their young summoner, he knew that this had taken a toll on the youth as for the longest time she ha been the closest person to him but had tried to kill him because she wanted to remain with the person she loved and the family she was raised with. As of yet he had been unable to find anything that could even bring his sight back on a temporary basis let a lone a permanant one and he was getting frustrated at his own failures even though he knew it would be a slim all be it nonexistant shot. The most frustrating part for the blue haired male was that he nore any of those who remained as summons now knew when he was sick unless Ruvel himself voiced it and that was beyond rare as he never wanted to worry anyone.
Still that was tomorrow's worry for Oykai, it was the Christmas season once more and he decided that he would go back to Era in the hopes of finding some more winter spice air freshener and perhaps incense. He paused abruptly in the street he was in and tilted his head as he thought something over, perhaps he should get some things for people who he had a connection to, his eyes going to the green gem he had hanging from his waist gleeming in the sunlight. It stood out like a sore thumb against the white drop of the snow below.
"I wonder what Yona is up to, it's been a while." he said to himself as he was hit by a snowball turning around as he seen a few children laughing, picking up some snow he compressed it and throwing it back with a smile, the boy he aimed for took cover behind their snow wall but he was fine with that as he turned back and started to walking back down the road as he thought about what kind of gift she might like.
"What to get? What to get?" he said as if deep in thought, he had never really bought anything for someone like Yona before, Samira was easy given how they had bonded over air freshener so things like that would be perfect to keep getting though he might go with a twist this year if he could get it made on time. For that he would need to find a skilled jeweller so thank goodness he was in one of the most expensive places in Fiore for that. Ruvel he could do nothing about his young summoners eyes but he knew how to lift his spirits, he would take him through the training of one of his cast as they didn't need their eyes to see the things around them. To be honest he was starting to wonder if in his shell shock training Sol actually knew how to do it, if not that was something that fell on him to teach 'Joyus.' he thought to himself as he rubbed his temples he really didn't feel like playing teacher to Sol.
As he walked through the streets he heard people singing christmas carols in the square, they were dressed in outfits from years long since past as if that brought addition to the christmas mood. He had no idea if it did, he had never celebrated this holiday and seen no reason to, he lived to long to care ultimatly so paid the living very little mind unless he was studying them. It did seem however to add to the celebration that little bit more so just continued on, his sence of smell was being assaulted by the smell of freshly baked gingerbread men and gingerbread houses that could be assembled and decorated by children. He was pretty sure that was likely going to be some sort of competition for the younger children but who knew at that point, he watched as a man walked down the street announcing there would be a christmas play while actors and dancers were handing out flyers as to where, when and the price of the tickets. Part of him wondered if that was something that Yona might enjoy, he knew Sato would and perhaps would take the nature loving flower child to see it for helping take care of Ruvel as well as he had. It would all depend on what the play was he guessed, before to long he was handed a flyer and read it
"Thank you." he said calmly bowing a little
"Jack and the beanstalk, seems like it would be right up his ally." he chuckled to himself and decided to head towards the ticket office to get himself, Yona and Sato tickets to the show that evening. The christmas garlands were strung between buildings and even around lamp posts, small lights seemed to be entwined within them and then their was the smell of hot chocolate and even fir trees. There just seemed to be so much going on in this city that he didn't really know if he was coming or going as he wanted to both leave the damned place but he wanted to see more, to study it and those who were taking part react to things. He shook his head this was not the time nor place for that he just wanted to get some presents and tickets to the panto that evening before leaving.
Oykai continued moving only to see another with the same complextion as himself, if they had white hair and close their eyes he was pretty sure they would have merged perfectly into the snow if they were naked he was pretty sure. He of course didn't want to do such a thing, in fact he actually wanted to avoid Sol completely but he knew that his cast could sense when another was around, especially when he was around given his connection to death themselves. With a heavy sigh he walked towards Sol and tilted his head
"We are in the middle of a festival and you are still drinking that swill, get some hot chocolate you grump." he said just as he stopped in front of Sol, he was pretty sure that he wasn't to meet anyone there but stranger things had happened
"Why are you here of all places? Don't you have somewhere to be seeing as you're an overpaid delivery boy?" he took a gentle jab at the other, it wasn't done in malice but as friendly banter with the other; now if he had been in his spiritual calling side that might have been a little different, then again if he was in his primary cast he would have likely just walked past Sol clipping him around the ear as he walked on without a word.
"Are yo-" he was cut off as he heard something his eyes becoming stern as he knew something was off instantly, there were screams and people running around in a panic
"Just great." he grumbled changing into his smaller self his book appearing in front of him
"This city can't go one holiday without issue, aren't the rune knights based here." he grumbled a little as he believed that should have been a deterrent for anyone wanting to cause anyone in this place but nope, haters had to hate didn't they even in the season of giving. Well he guess they were giving... they were giving him a headache.
The book quickly opened and from it six pages seemed to come out floating around Oykai as he walked deeper into the city from when he just came. People were running towards where he had just came from and even running into houses, cafes, bakeries and any other building they could to keep safe from the menice that seemed to have 'dropped' by to disrupt the festivities. Oykai took a leisurly stroll towards the comotion and seen a giant monstrocity taring up the christmas tree in the center of the city square
"Hay, I know it was a damned eyesore but there's no need for destroying the tree. It isn't its fault the people who decorated it have no taste." he scolded the muscle bound furball, well getting his attention worked as he put the tree down, well if by throwing at Oykai meant putting it down anyway. From the book four spirits seemed to spring fourth, one of an elderly gentleman, one of a battle hardened warrioress, one of a child looking no older than eight and a teenage girl. They didn't remain for long as they faded to make a three sided pyramid made out of spiritual energy dangling from the top there was a frosted ice blue crystal this meant that he was currently shielded and was being healed by the shield he had formed which was all fine and well for him. As the shield came up it had already been hit by the tree and before the blue haired male could react the shield was getting hit and he was sent backwards a few feet
"Damn it's fast." he said running back towards it, the shield was hit once more but Oykai had dodged this time so the glancing blow didn't send him back like it had the first time. With how close he was to this thing he sent the pages forward and they hit their mark two pages stuck to it a smile came to his face as it would drain him of his vitality and spirit, of course more would have to be done and this was one of these beasts that had to be taken down quickly or it would kill. Around him now pages appeared, as he began to swing the pages started to fill with text of course this meant that the shield was destroyed rather quickly but that didn't bother the blue haired male that much, it was a small sacrifice for what was to come.
With the shield down he started to duck and dive with how he was moving it was almost as if he was ice scating dodging chunks of ice that where thrown at him. Picking up some fairy lights that had fallen he started tied part into a lasso and threw it at the giant beast, the first attempt failed and he was knocked back into a building, that was the last thing he needed. Getting back up and dashing forward quickly he ignoreed the pain and threw his lasso for a second time and this time he managed to get the loop around it. Once again dodging its attacks he moved around it finally wrapping up the thing, he knew it would keep it immobilized for only a minute or two but that's all he would need. Running into a store he picked up a can of winter wonderland air freshner and a candle before running towards the yeti. Pressing down on the button he released the air freshner towards the bound and thrashing yeti, as he did so he brought up the candle and soon its flesh and fur were in fire. It's horrendus screams of pain rang through the area as it tried to stop it but Oykai just kept it going until it fell by his feet a black, crispy husk of its former self.
"It smells like burned pork and dog hair" he said his nose wrinkling as he sprayed some of the air freshner on it
"gingerbread chocolate latte... not bad for a scent." he said reading the label finally deciding he should get a few cans to go wondering if Sol was around.
