Removal of either Spam section or Top Posters

Because Spam makes normal posters reaching somewhere in the top posters impossible to achieve and I know that you can't make Spam posts not count towards top posts. The point of Top Posts is to encourage people to post, yes, but spam posts are ruining that so people are like "What's the point then". It's also there to congratulate people on being all active and loyal and crap, meanwhile people are spamming threads to ruin that. I know spam doesn't really count for jewels because you get like, 1 jewel per post in spam, but this isn't about jewels (I remember when those were a problem, hopefully they've been "fixed" by now).

You don't have to remove both, because technically, one is encouraging spam, the other is discouraging people trying to be a top poster. Spam is disheartening, but only because of top posters. I've heard people complain about this on several occasions and I don't know if they've gotten over it but doing this would fix it.

I'm for the removal of the spam section. It's annoying that reaching Top Poster status is impossible because useless spam is valued more than in-character posts or constructive OOC like suggestions, and discussions..

So because we had a guild challenge you guys want the top posters list gone? it was for fun not building posts, I didn't think it would be such a issue. They had lots of fun doing it and so basically you want to smack their hand and tell them "NO BAD!" cause they had a contest? Dear me.

Top posters isn't for people who spam their asses off, that's not its purpose. The contest was meant to take over the top posters, which would've been fine if the posts were real / helpful. It's kind of annoying to see nothing but grey on the right of your screen when it's not your guild.

It's devaluing an achievement some people work really hard for and ruining the friendly contest of pursuing the top-poster spot by making 1000 post long threads. I've been gunning for 1k post for almost 3 years now, and man was it a punch in the gut to see two guys who spammed it up for a single day easily achieving a goal that I've really put serious time and effort into. It's nothing to quit the site over but it really rubs me the wrong way and I've got a feeling I'm not the only one feeling this way.

We don't need to take down the top posters list, Heeroface just said we can not count Spam posts towards Top Poster.

I think we should use it by amount of words, not post.
Think about it, Top Word writers, but anyways, we had one event, dont be TOTAL buzzkills, but buzzkill a little.

Lol ok... well im not against it honestly... i just wanted my guild to have some fun together. i was successful, i apologize for upsetting all of you because of it. I should have thought about it more, but at the time i just cared about giving them a good time. So again I'm sorry

Please just don't. I don't come here hardly ever anymore and I didn't know there was a "guild event". This wasn't an attack on you. This has been a problem for months. I remember people complaining about this months ago and it's still a problem, thus this suggestion.

Also if you really can just check a box and say "those posts in this specific section don't count" then please, do that. It'll solve a lot of problems and give some achievements their proper value back.

Admins please lock this topic, because what is being conducted here is one of the most pointkess discussions i have ever seen. Never before was the spam section/top posters of the month an issue.

Even though i can understand the frustration between spamming and the top post count. Especially considering the fact that avhievements are involved. I just dont see the point of a discussion over it. Where people feel personally attacked because of sometimng so petty.
