Wedding Crashers (Matabei and Kara)

Matabei kept her eyes closed and tried to feel around for it. She knew she had held onto it when he punched her, so she knew it still had to be somewhere around there. Her body lost a lot of the painful feeling that had plagued it a while earlier, so she was just numb at the moment but that didn't matter. What did matter was getting this item, if she managed to get it then Kara might have a shot at taking him down while he wasn't looking. Matabei kept searching, and then she felt the item she had been searching for so desperately.

Her spear.

Matabei picked it up, and then stood up on her legs. She wobbled a bit, before managing to steady herself. Matabei looked over to where Kara and the ex had been standing and noticed that the man had his back towards her. Matabei clutched her spear tightly before cocking it back and aiming it at the man's back. She took three steps forward and then chucked the spear with all of her strength she could muster.

*Thwack!*

The spear managed to impale itself on the man's shoulder, and his cry of pain made Matabei grin cruelly. He looked back towards the ink-make maid with an angry look on his face, taking his attention away from Kara for the moment. Matabei made a 'come on' motion with her hands, ignoring the blood dripping from her skull. Matabei only knew that this would give Kara a small window of opportunity to hit the man with something, and if it did then Matabei could help take him down, and he would stop being a pain in the ass to the both of them. Come on big boy, show me what you are made of. Focus on me, not her.

1: Matabei Desperation Spear throw

Kara watched the spear impale into the man, unsure of where it had come from at first. Last time she'd seen Matabei, she was lying on the floor apparently close to losing consciousness. Now here she was throwing a spear at the man's back and drawing his attention away from Kara. The Lamia Scale mage wasn't about to waste this opportunity as she ran up behind the brute with her hands outstretched. "Amethyst Make: Twin Sabres!" she growled. The weapons had only just fully formed as she lunged forwards and performed a spinning attack. The blades danced through the air slashing at the man's back four times in total. He staggered forward a couple of steps and fell to his knees, barely able to keep himself upright. Kara landed and walked towards him, before bringing her right leg up and kicking him in the side of the face knocking him down to the ground. Her two blades were still intact, each of them lined in the blood they'd spilt from his back. He was alive, but he'd be feeling those cuts for quite some time.

Kara remained unmoving, waiting to see if he got back up. She didn't trust her gut on this occasion. "Are you okay Matabei?" she called out as she held one sabre to the man's throat. If he dared make a move then she'd ensure he'd have much worse than a few cuts on his back. "Are his eyes open?" she added nervously. She daren't move from where she was in fear that he was still conscious, but she needed to know if she could relax or not.

Matabei breathed a sigh of relief and smiled when Kara managed to attack the man from behind without his paying attention. The ink maid was proud of how Kara managed to take him down, and even though she was in intense pain and had some blood dripping down her head from a wound, she managed to limp her way over towards the two fighters. Kara was standing with her twin sabers at the man's throat, and Matabei couldn't tell if he was still conscious or not. Matabei sat on the ground and sighed again, chuckling slightly after she checked her head and noticed the blood flowing from the wound. "I'm okay Kara. Just a small wound on my head." Matabei looked at the man's eyes and noticed they were closed. "He looks unconscious, but I would keep an eye on him just to be sure." Matabei stood again, dusting herself off one last time before looking back at Kara.

"What about you? Have you been hurt in any way? Did they managed to give you a bad cut or something?" Matabei fussed over Kara, being true to her maid personality. It might upset Kara to be treated like this, but Matabei would let no harm come to her if she could very well help it. Matabei continued to fuss over Kara, not paying attention to who might see or the man on the ground with his eyes closed. "No one did anything wrong to you right? He didn't violate you in any way?" Matabei asked Kara in what would sound like a concerned mother's tone. This certainly wasn't the Matabei anyone might have seen before, and probably not the one Marick would have described. "I swear if anything hapened to you I will gut all of them like fish."

Kara's blades dissipated as she relaxed slightly, stepping away from the unconscious man beneath her. Almost immediately she was bombarded by questions from Matabei, flustered and clearly concerned about her well-being. This was certainly not something the young noblewoman had expected. "What about you? Have you been hurt in any way? Did they managed to give you a bad cut or something? No one did anything wrong to you right? He didn't violate you in any way? I swear if anything hapened to you I will gut all of them like fish.

Kara couldn't help but giggle. She'd not expected to really get close to Matabei, let alone be treated quite like this. Marick hadn't mentioned much about the ink-make user, but this was, for sure, not anything like he'd mentioned. "I'm fine Matabei...honest." she replied softly. "But you should rest yourself and get your injuries tended to...Marick would only worry if I told him I let you walk away with injuries like that." she continued.

Now that she thought about it, it was odd how things had worked out. Had Marick not escorted her for her father then they'd never have met. She would've probably died in Era because he wouldn't have been there to save her. Had he not been there then he wouldn't have met Matabei either. Without Matabei meeting Marick, she'd probably still be deeply rooted into Savage Skull, and would never have considered working with a legal mage, and Kara wouldn't be here to try and talk some sense into Matabei and get her injuries checked. It was a peculiar turn of events, as if destined in some way "And if I'm honest...I'd worry too."

Matabei released a sigh of relief when Kara told her she was fine. Her maid mode was still active, thus she was going to continue being the overbearing mother for a while until she felt like Kara was going to be completely safe. But for now at least, she would back off and let the girl breathe some. Matabei had to chuckle slightly when Kara mentioned how Marick would freak out if he knew she was this hurt and moving around. He was a bit overprotective, and thus would yell at Matabei for not seeking treatment. "Your right. I should get some treatment soon so I don't look like a corpse walking around." Matabei had the urge to actually do that, but since she was supposed to look like someone attending a wedding and not a zombie she would reluctantly get medical treatment. Matabei had to think for a moment, why was she so protective of Kara? Was it because she had done a job with her? In order to keep her safe for Marick? Or was it because she needed Kara for some reason.....

Almost as if she could have been my master...

"And if I'm honest...I'd worry too." Matabei smiled, a genuine smile. She was grateful that Kara cared about her at all, and wanted to make that known. She pulled Kara into a hug, and showed how much she was thankful for having such a wonderful friend in her life. "Ill live Kara. We did what we came to do. Let's turn this guy in, and get the rewards. Not to mention get me some medical attention." Matabei's eyebrow twitched when some blood got into her eye, but she managed to not curse or scream and just started walking away with Kara wrapped in her right arm. "I'm kinda hungry now..." Matabei whined a bit, turning towards Kara. "Wanna grab something to eat after?"
