    Trinity
I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.

Today was going to be a great day. She could already feel it. A while back, Trinity had received a request in the mail from the chocolate company she had worked with last year inviting her to be a tester for some of their new wedding themed products. They were going to have cake and chocolate and all sorts of goodies that her sweet tooth just couldn’t pass up. In fact, she’d been counting down the days waiting for it to arrive. Thankfully, it seemed she wasn’t going to miss it. That was a problem for her sometimes given her history of randomly blacking out for long periods of time, but luck appeared to be on her side for this particular event.

Had it already been a year since she and Ehoron had delivered those chocolates? That meant it had been almost two years since she’d escaped Bellum. It was strange to think that she’d been gone for that long, but here she was. In truth, this was a bit of a bittersweet moment. It had been many months now since she’d seen or heard from her dear friend. She could only assume that something had happened to him, but she didn’t have any way of tracking him down. All she could do was hope for his safety and carry on, as sadly she was quite used to not holding onto friends for long.

But now she’d recently made friends with Nathaniel, a sweet young man that had managed to keep in contact with her after they’d met playing games at a carnival. The invitation she’d received was to a wedding that was being used to test the company’s new products, and she was allowed to bring a guest with her. So, she had sent him a message asking if he wanted to come with her, and letting him know that the services would even include a magical tailor that would fashion an outfit for him if he wanted.

They had agreed to meet in Cedar where the wedding was being hosted, at a little coffee shop that wasn’t far from the church. This was where Trinity waited patiently for him to arrive, sitting at one of the outdoor tables with a delicious coffee. She hummed happily to herself, wiggling a bit in her chair to the beat of the song she currently had stuck in her head. Since she planned on getting changed at the wedding, her clothes at the moment were nothing out of the ordinary. She still got the odd look here and there from her two toned hair and different colored eyes, but she didn’t seem to notice.

In fact, the only one she seemed to really notice was Nathaniel himself when he arrived. As soon as she saw him her eyes lit up with happiness and she ran over, leaving her coffee at the table to wrap her arms around him in a tight, excited hug.
Please forgive me if I don’t talk much at times. It’s loud enough in my head.

Nat had forgotten what all the fuss was about during this day. It was supposed to be a day of expressing one’s love and affection to others, it was a day for love. He had not forgotten because he has no love. Quite the contrary, he has been loving his new home, Dies Irae and the people he has been with while he is staying in their palace. But above all, there is a woman he has grown very fondly of and one might think that because of this fact alone, he would have remembered this day. But alas, he decided not to dwell too much into the thought for indeed it has been a while since he last saw the beautiful woman with two toned eyes and hair whose name was Trinity. He had been trying to learn Sign Language during the little down time his current lifestyle has afforded him but was slowly beginning to think that it would all be for naught since he hasn’t heard from her for a very long time yet the passage of time cannot deteriorate the memories he had of their time together, from going through a maze and carving pumpkin together even during his slow limping towards his room. He had come from a job, and before that, grueling training that would see him develop his magical and physical prowess all at the low low cost of him being low on magic power.

Fortunately, this has been a normal occurrence for quite some time that he had been prepared. In his room with only a bed and end table now had a fine addition, a lacrima that floats on top of it which stores some of Nat’s healing magic and all he had to do was to simply place his hand on it. Once he placed it, he was suddenly enveloped in warmth, comforting warmth as if someone who likes him hugged him and his wounds were healed. However, with the method being a mere alternative, it was not as effective and left scars all across his body on places where his armor and uniform got torn off.

At this moment of relief, he conjured up a normal cake for him to eat and checked his iLac. There was but one humble message, quite unusual for the Crusader because he normally has none for there was only ever one person who knew his number at this point, and with that in mind he hurriedly and excitedly opened the message. Even his chewing got faster in anticipation and what he saw made him panic. The girl he can’t stop thinking about, Trinity is inviting him to Cedar for an event. The news was glorious and it made him nervous and anxious because numerous thoughts which were mostly questions. Is this a date? What should I do? What should I wear? Should I bring a gift? He was so flustered as he tried his best to organize his thoughts while he was now up and pacing back and forth while he kept the cake suspended on his mouth. There was really nothing he could do now but to go there, try to be a gentleman by not making her wait too long.

Nat didn’t have a nice dress to wear, he simply took out the one clean shirt he had sewn back together from when he first arrived in Dies Irae, along with the denim pants from the same day. Hurriedly, he approached a portal mage from the guild and pleaded, begged, and paid him to take him to Cedar. Annoyed, the mage relented and snapped his fingers, opening a portal to Cedar.

In the horizon, he can see Trinity already and slowly approached her, excited to spend time with her once again. But a thought had stopped him from moving… he had forgotten to assess his smell. He took the time to smell himself for a bit, but it was too late. Trin had already locked him in a hug. A rather interesting hug for it was warmer, better, and more comfortable than the kind of warmth the lacrima from earlier gave him. So warm in fact that Nat’s temperature might have gone up as evident by his face slowly obtaining red coloration starting from his throat. Nat hugged Trin back as intently as she did for a few seconds, before trying to sign out “Hi there, how have you been? I missed you.”

    Trinity
I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.
If she noticed any kind of smell on him, she didn’t seem to express so. Trinity was too busy being excited over seeing him again, and for the amazing day they were about to have. He hugged her back and asked how she was, letting her know that he’d missed her. She pulled back enough to smile brightly at him, giving him a thumbs up to indicate that she’d been doing pretty well. Her response to his expression of missing her earned him another tight hug of joy, and then she took his hand and excitedly dragged him off in the direction the wedding was at.

A church not far down the road had a few decorations and signs up to let people know they were at the right place, including one for the chocolate company that had extended Trinity an invitation. She led Nathaniel up the main stairs into the foyer of the building, where the wedding coordinator was busy bustling people in the right directions. A beautiful set of double doors lead into the main chapel, where a number of people had already found places to sit. To the left, the coordinator directed people into a smaller room a couple at a time where the guests would come out in completely different outfits than before, most of them dressier.

The coordinator noticed them in the midst of doing her job, noting that they were in rather plain clothes. “Are you here for the bride or groom?” she asked them. Trinity reached into her pocket and pulled out the invitation she’d received in the mail from the chocolate company, showing it to the woman. “Oh yes! They told us you would be coming. You two go ahead and visit the tailor, he’ll set you up, and then sit wherever you’d like for the ceremony. We’ll have a reserved spot for you at the reception.”

Trinity nodded, not losing her smile or excitement though there was a bit of confusion in her expression as though she didn’t entirely understand what the woman meant about a ceremony or reception. Still she got in the short line with everyone else and waited for this “tailor” that the woman spoke of, and when she was able to see inside to understand that there was a man there using his magic to change peoples’ clothing Trinity immediately forgot about her confusion.

She tugged excitedly on Nathaniel’s arm, pointing inside the room to show him all the beautiful clothes the man was making. The petite woman started bouncing on her toes, her body wiggling in anticipation until it was finally their turn. Trinity bounded right up onto the little pedestal in front of the man and, after a brief exchange in which he realized she was mute and couldn’t actually talk to him to hell him what would interest her, he simply decided to improvise.

Drawing from the colors of her hair and eyes, he donned her in a pink dress that had a corset bust with a brown chest. The skirt was short, coming to just above her knees, but with a mushroom top like one might find on a ballgown. It faded to white at the ends, with a sheer layer of pink ruffled over the top and draping off one side by a few rosettes. A pair of pink pumps adorned her feet, and her hair was pulled loosely up at the back of her head.

When Trinity saw herself in the mirror, she gasped softly, turning sideways to try and see all of it. She’d never been in a dress so fancy and fun before, and by the smile that grew on her face and the way she twirled around the room she clearly loved it. The man was surprised by the hug she gave him in thanks. Briefly she showed it off to Nathaniel, turning in a circle for him so he could see the whole thing even though he probably already had, before she wiggled even more and beckoned for him to give it a try.
Please forgive me if I don’t talk much at times. It’s loud enough in my head.

Nat was still not used to being unaware of what to do or what needs to be done and it always seems that way whenever he was with Trinity. Everything just seems to go away and things are seemingly alright, that there was no evil in the world to purge, he even forgot about the fact the he hadn't bathed yet today. Yes, everything was alright, Trinity who had given Nat a thumbs up as an indication. Though he honestly thought she would be surprised and impressed that he knew how to sign already and it was actually not brought up. He came to think that he hadn't seen her sign for all the times they were together and was starting to think that she didn't know how. If that were to be the case, then Nat would be more than happy to teach her, in fact, he thinks he's going to love it.

Not soon after two consecutive hugs, Nat was beginning to think it was Christmas because it is being a very, very delightful day for he was being served with a huge helping of warm hugs all topped off with a very delightful, eye catching smile.

He was completely stunned and was just in the moment, not concerned with anything going on, so he was completely surprised when Trinity took his hand and dragged him somewhere, while he tried his best to follow her pace and make sure his arm won't come off.

He was taken to a beautiful church nearby, adorned with all the decorations of love, mostly colored in white, clearly a wedding was to take place. It was a wondrous sight to behold for Nat who hasn’t been out a lot, nor been invited to a wedding. Still, he believes that love is something to be celebrated and an important one at that. So when it seemed to him that one of Trinity’s friends was getting married, that she was invited, and she chose him to be her plus one… It was such an honor for him, and why would Trinity invite him to a wedding anyway? Does this mean… It was at this moment that his face got even more red. What does this mean? His eyes kept wandering, scanning the room while he continued to overthink.

Finally he decided to just focus on Trinity just focusing on the fact that she is just smiling and excited. Which apparently was contagious because Nat smiled too and was just standing there, admiring her, thinking to himself that it doesn’t matter what this is, that he was just happy to be in the same room with her and spend time with her, because in the end that’s all that’s important right?

The trance-like state he was in did not change even when she tugged on his arm to go check the line of people who were seeing this “tailor”. Though it was unlinke Nat, he was happy about it too and told her through sign which he thinks she can understand anyway that it does look fun and would want to try it out all the while admiring and giggling as he looked upon Trinity while waiting for their turn.

In the end, it was worth the wait, Nat got to see how pretty the dress was on Trinity. She looked so stunning to his eyes so much that his jaw dropped while holding up the smile it had. “You’re so beutiful, Trin.” after he had inspected every side of the dress from her turn.
Then, the tailor gestured to Nat that it was his turn and found it weird that he was excited for such a thing. The magic tailor simply took a quick look at him and snapped his fingers. Knowing instantly what would look good to the blonde.

In a matter of moments, Nat stepped out and walked regally towards Trinity. He stood tall and proud like a young prince in the Outfit bestowed upon that bore the color scheme of blue, white and gold. Complete with seemingly royal accessories like a lion brooch, sash and shoulder pads. He too took a quick spin for Trinity to get a quick look and then asked how she thought of it. But personally though, Nat thinks like he’s a big deal now.

Every time Nathaniel attempted to sign to her, he would find that she didn’t have much of a reaction outside of a look of mild confusion. It probably wouldn’t take long for him to get the impression that she actually did not understand or know sign language at all. Her brows would furrow a little bit, her head tilted in curiosity until she got distracted by the tailor and the gorgeous dress he’d made for her.

She smiled with a bit of shy pleasure when Nathaniel complimented her, telling her that she was beautiful. Compliments weren’t something that she got a lot, mostly because she didn’t spend a whole lot of time around other people for very long, and she didn’t really know how to react to them. Thankfully, she wasn’t the only one who got dressed up. Trinity had still been mildly looking at herself in the mirror, not used to wearing something so delicate and flowy, when the tailor performed his same masterful artwork on her friend as well.

When Nathaniel’s outfit was done and Trinity turned to look at him, she blushed almost on the spot. Trinity was a fairly innocent soul that rarely thought about more than just the immediate day to day, her interactions with most people more focused on friendship and fun because she had never had the opportunity in her life to build any kind of lasting relationships. As such, she rarely looked at people in terms of their attractiveness, not unless they made some kind of move on her first.

But even she couldn’t miss just how handsome he looked. The blue really complimented his light hair and sapphire eyes. Trinity found herself a little transfixed by it, smiling but suddenly turning even more shy than before. Like she could feel her own cheeks burning, her two colored eyes kept doing their best to try not to stare but continued to flick back at him, betraying how captivated she was.

Busying herself to mask the strange emotion, she pulled out her phone and typed a message for him. “You look really good,” the message said. It wasn’t exactly the most eloquent of compliments, and certainly didn’t convey the depth to just how much she really liked the outfit on him, but she did truly mean it. As a woman of little words, it was difficult for her to express herself properly with them. She could only hope he took it to heart.

Not long after that they were ushered off into the main chapel, which was set up with beautiful decorations of flowers and ribbons and tulle. They took their seats and waited until it was time for the ceremony to start, with Trinity spending most of that time looking around the space in wonder and constantly pointing out things to Nathaniel that she thought were pretty or interesting.

They didn’t have to wait long before it was time for the ceremony to start, as music filled the area from a large organ up at the front. Women in pretty dresses with flowers in their hands began to walk down the long aisle and stand off to the side, across from a few men. And then, everyone stood and another woman came in. Her beauty took Trinity’s breath away as she gasped softly, taking in the flowing and pristine white gown. She had never seen something so beautiful in her whole life, and couldn’t take her eyes away as the bride walked down to stand front and center with the groom.

As the rest of the room sat back down, Trinity pulled her phone back out after a few minutes and began to type new messages for Nathaniel. “What’s going on? What are they doing?” She had never been to a wedding before. The guy performing the ceremony was talking a lot about love and how the couple had met, which was very sweet and fascinating to her, but she didn’t really know what it all meant, and clearly needed Nathaniel to sort of talk her through what was going on...

It didn't take long for Nathaniel to somewhat figure out that Trinity might not be well versed in sign language. At all. She had a face she would make whenever he signed, as if she didn’t get what he was doing with his hands. Making it fortunate that while Nat was signing he was also saying what he meant out loud allowing Nat to see a shy smile he had never seen from her and he wondered why. Why would she suddenly be shy about a simple compliment he had made? He thought it was sure that she had been called that before, just looking at her lovely face, especially those eyes and of course topped off with a charming personality…

He had stopped there because he didn’t want to wander too much into the subject and hope that maybe. Just maybe, Trinity feels something. But alas, the thought was becoming more and more possible after Nat came out and Trinity saw his clothes. There he witnessed that unusual shyness about her that was almost uncharacteristic. But being as humble as it was, Nat did not attribute it to himself but rather to the clothing he has on now. He had to admit it really does look good on him while he was staring at himself at the full body mirror, even nodding in approval, wondering if this permanent and he can take it home. How badly did he want that to happen.

But what was more transfixing than his own image was how Trinity was acting all the while. He can notice her being… unusual once more, she couldn’t even look at him at the eye and yet, he felt… different as well, as if despite the unease or weirdness, she was cute.

And even though she was rummaging through her stuff to find her phone, which was her only way to talk to Nat for now, it was even a cute sight to behold and he just stood there waiting, witnessing the marvel before him. “Thank you, Trinity!” he replied to her sweetly and gently as it was just comforting to have her as these “feelings” kept surfacing with the way she was acting.

Not long after, they were ushered onto their seats, where Nat was just having a blast, laughing and smiling as Trinity kept asking a multitude of questions. He didn’t understand why it’s so cute and lovely when she does it when everyone else is annoying about it. But that moment didn’t last long as the ceremony seemingly finally started. Nat didn’t know what goes on in a wedding. Only that it is a celebration, a union of two lovers to be finally intertwined for eternity. Something that sounded very nice to Nat now, what with Trinity being beside her looking so gorgeous. A thought that made him blush hard, but had to keep it to himself because he thinks it’s too soon and would be rude.

While she was texting him her questions, Nat offered her to teach her how to sign, so that at least she wouldn’t have to keep texting him her questions as he smiled at her. It was then that she showed him her message, asking what this was all about. A question that made his jaw drop in surprise. “Wait, you don’t know any of these people?”he asked in confusion, as he tried to think of an answer to her question. However, as that attempt failed, he simply scratched the back of his head and giggled nervously. “I’m sorry Trinity. But I don’t either, I may be as clueless as you since this is the first wedding I’ve been to.” he replied.

As they silently spoke to one another through the ceremony, Nathaniel offered to teach her how to sign, explaining to her that the gestures he’d been doing with his hands earlier had actually been some kind of non-verbal way of communicating with her. Trinity seemed fascinated by the idea that people could talk to one another using only hand movements, and immediately nodded her head with a vigorous yes. It sounded like fun! And it would certainly make it easier to talk without having her face down on her phone most of the time.

He did seem quite surprised when she admitted that she didn’t understand what was actually going on with the ceremony. The young woman shook her head as an answer to his question about her not knowing anyone here, and then pulled out the same paper she’d shown the coordinator that had greeted them and offered it to Nathaniel. He would see it was a letter from the chocolate company that was sponsoring the affair, thanking her for her assistance at another event the year before and inviting her to be an honored guest at this wedding where some of their new products were being tested so she could help them rate the quality. It had also stipulated that she could bring a plus one with her if she desired.

Nathaniel admitted that this was also the first wedding he’d ever been to, and because of that he had about as much clue behind everything as she did. It was going to be a learning experience for both of them, it seemed. Trinity watched the formalities with interest, then, gathering from the words of love and commitment from the speaker that it was some kind of union ceremony for the man and woman that were up on stage together. Mostly she just observed the way the two looked at each other like they couldn’t take their eyes off one another. It wasn’t a terribly long affair, and it ended with a rather passionate kiss that made Trinity think back to the musician named Baird that had once tried to give her a home. He had been quite friendly and flirty with her, among other things.

When all was said and done, everyone was finally ushered into a beautiful courtyard adjacent to the main hall where a number of beautifully decorated tables and chairs had been set up. There were mages playing musical instruments, and a large dance floor in the center, as well as long rows of tables where people could leave presents. A towering cake was on display at another table, and Trinity was practically drooling at the sight of it, but they hadn’t started cutting it yet. So, she busied herself with other snacks and goodies in the meantime, walking around with Nathaniel and talking with him idly until it was time for the other festivities to start.

The bride and groom shared a dance, which Trinity enjoyed. She loved dancing and hoped to get out on the floor later, but for now it seemed that only those two were allowed on. After a delicious meal, however, it was finally time for the cake. Trinity watched with a gleeful intensity as the bride and groom cut a slice off the cake for themselves and fed it to each other. Then, the rest of the cake was cut into slices that were then passed around by the wait staff.

By the time they received their slices, she was practically bouncing in her seat, the fabric from her dress rustling audibly in rhythm with her excitement. Without wasting any time, Trinity scooped a piece off with her fork and plunged it into her mouth, closing her eyes and humming happily. It was exactly as sweet and delectable as she’d hoped. After a couple more bites, the image of the recently married couple came to her mind. The way they had fed one another was sweet and cute, and she kind of wanted to try it herself.

Her gaze flicked to Nathaniel a couple times before she finally worked up the courage with a small, shy blush to take a piece of her cake that had some extra frosting on it and offered it out for him to eat, if he wanted. Maybe he wouldn’t want to, and the thought that he might decline sent a weird, unpleasant feeling through her stomach, but still Trinity decided to try anyway.

Nat’s face lit up when Trinity accepted the invitation to be taught how to sign with such excitement. It never failed to bring Nat joy whenever he got to see Trinity like this and already, he had plans in his head on how it would be done that it almost felt overboard that he was already planning a next date when it seems they are in one right now… or at least to him, this was a date… Right? He continued to question it within his own mind, not showing any physical reactions to these thoughts, clearly trying to avoid anything that would raise curiosity and eventually several lines of questioning that could make the entire situation awkward.

Then Trinity’s reply to Nat’s question was brief and informative. By pulling out the same letter she had shown to the coordinator a few moments ago that placed everything in perspective. Although to be honest, Nat was simply just so excited for the sweets at the end of the whole ceremony. However, he was not ignoring the fact that he had been honored with being Trinity’s plus one for this specific event. As such, a blushing Nathaniel was having a hard time placing words on his smiling mouth. “T-t-this is an honor, Trinity… Uh… T-t-thanks.” he stuttered, smiling at the end, trying to stifle giggling because it was bad enough that he was blushing, almost losing his manners and giving in to the weird feelings he felt, and thoughts his brain kept pushing into him. But he had to maintain his composure, and appreciate the ceremony they have been invited to.

As soon as the ceremony proper started, Nathaniel watched and listened intently. The man who looks to be facilitating it, would tell a story of how they met, courted and fell in love. Weirdly enough, Nat’s memories would go back to every moment he shared with Trinity during every initial phase of these people's own memories. He absorbed every detail that went into it, for it seemed to be causing the woman in the ceremony to be happy beyond description. He was absolutely transfixed by all of it, even the parts past the memories and vows. Clearly, love was in the air and Nat was… inexplicably happy and content to have witnessed such an event, with a person he is so fond of. It didn’t come as a surprise to him though it seems for he was able to rationalize that in his line of work where only suffering and sadness is all he can see, as a result of the misdeeds of a few “bad apples”, it was refreshing to surrounded with peace and happiness, even for only a little bit he thought, especially since he was spending it with Trinity. A thought that made him chuckle a bit because he can’t seem to do anything else besides think of Trinity at this point, which he didn’t know if it was a good or bad thing, and he was just hoping that the delicious food at the end of it all would set his mind straight once more.

But it wasn’t going to be as easy as Nathaniel thought. For as soon as they were ushered into a beautifully decorated area for eating, with an ambiance of romance to compliment such set up. He had walked in alongside Trinity and they were guided to their seats. He took his slowly, trying not to ruin his very cool outfit, sitting in royal elegance, trying to make himself a little bit presentable, and make people see past the fact that he hasn’t showered yet. In fact, he almost forgot it himself and got curious as to how he smelled now that he subtly sniffed himself a bit. To his surprise, he smelled really great. Such a shock caused his eyes to widen and he wondered how it came to be and he could only conclude that the “magical makeover” came with a magical bath or odor remover or something. Nevertheless, it was one less to worry about, and he could just happily enjoy cake!

But apparently, in gathering like these, there seems to be a ritual or ceremony for every little thing that was happening. And there was more ceremony to get through. And while it was getting honestly tiresome at this point, when all you really wanted was to enjoy food, Nat wasn’t a little bit disrespectful about it and simply tried his best to be patient and pick up points and words from the ceremony. Though there wasn’t much, Nat’s take away from the entire thing was the sweet symbolic feeding of the two lovers to each other and found simple beauty in it and smiled, remembering the happiness it gave the newlyweds.

So at last, after all that ceremonious formalities, it was time for the guests’ cakes to be served. Nathaniel was excited for this part, but had to admit was a little disappointed when all they got was a single piece. Nat tilted his head and stared at the slice, playing with it, deconstructing it, and trying to piece together the different ingredients that made up this undoubtedly delicious dessert, whose only downside is they are being served only one. After a while, he took a bite off of it and was really impressed at the taste. It was sweet and soft, not so chewy that it became annoying, the creamy feeling it left in the mouth was just right and had a delectable taste that was exquisite.

As he was enjoying the nice dessert, he took a look at Trinity whose uneasy gaze he could feel on him. It appeared that Trinity wanted to feed Nat a piece of her cake. It was a curious gesture to be sure but then he remembered that the newlyweds did the exact same thing earlier and once again his thoughts were filled with hopes… That perhaps… he had a chance with her and was overjoyed. Feeling that this act might’ve needed Trinity to summon up much needed courage, he happily leaned in close slowly, eyes locked into Trinity’s own, reminding Nat that that was one of the things that captivated him. He opened his mouth and ate the piece of the slice that was on her utensil and thanked her happily afterwards and remarked to her “Thanks Trinity. Wow it’s a delicious cake, isn’t it? Want some more?”

He waved a finger pointing upwards in a circular motion leaving a fading trail of magic behind it “Here, watch this.” he commented as he closed his eyes and pictured every ingredient the cake had and the feelings it gave him as he ate it, with a little added extra, the happiness of being with Trinity. With the mental picture complete the finger he had up he pointed down to the table, pressing it against it, a small light shined underneath it, and as he slowly lifted his hand, and a cake seemingly a little bit identical to the one being served formed, he took a slice and offered it to Trinity, similar to the what the man who just got married did for his woman.

It seemed Nathaniel was keen on letting her feed him the piece of cake, and she smiled in earnest as he took the bite. He watched her the whole time and it was hard for her to do anything but keep her own eyes on him, a slight blush rising to her cheeks. When he finished the bite he thanked her and then offered her some more cake. At first she thought that he was going to get up and get her another slice, but instead he used his magic to simply craft an entire cake out of thin air.

Trinity gasped audibly, her mismatched eyes going wide in surprise and elation. He could just make cake?! She was looking at him with full blown stars in her eyes now, the sweet tooth in her on full hyperdrive. Never in her life had she been more frustrated about her inability to speak, because she had a thousand questions, each of which had to do with figuring out how he’d learned how to do that and if he could teach her to do the same. She would never stop eating cakes all day long, and would probably grow to be a thousand pounds but wouldn’t care.

It looked almost exactly like the cake that the company had provided, and she wiggled excitedly in her seat as he cut a slice and dished it out to her. Trinity was in such awe that she actually didn’t even eat it right away, wanting to inspect the piece and truly appreciate it before she took any bites from it. It looked nearly identical, but when she did finally take a bite it tasted infinitely more exquisite than the one that had been presented to them by the wedding company. Trinity may as well have melted into a puddle. It was so delicious that her eyes rolled back into her head and closed while she hummed in pleasure.

The slice was gone within seconds as she practically shovelled it into her mouth. It was astounding to picture a woman as tiny as her being able to eat so much dessert. One would think that she hardly ate at all, and yet there she was, wolfing down the most delicious cake she’d ever eaten and eying the rest of the platter like she was very much considering having some more.

Once the two of them had eaten their fill, Trinity decided it was finally time for the dance floor. It looked like so much fun to her, and now that she’d finally gotten the sweets that she’d come all this way for, there was no point in just sitting around and not taking the opportunity before them. So she grabbed Nathaniel’s hand and pulled him out on the floor during one of the more upbeat numbers, bouncing and wiggling around mostly in turn with the music. She wasn’t exactly the best dancer, but clearly she was having a lot of fun and didn’t seem particularly concerned with whether or not she was any good at it.

Eventually the music moved down to something a bit softer and slower, with couples pairing off with one another to sway gently back and forth in a circle while holding one another in their arms. Trinity hadn’t done this kind of dancing before and stood on the dance floor with Nathaniel among the small crowd, openly observing them with a curious glance as though she were studying them in an effort to mimic them. And sure enough, she made an indication to him that she wanted to try by taking one of his hands and holding it up, her eyes constantly shifting back and forth to the people around them and Nathaniel as she compared their own hold until she was certain they were doing it at least halfway right.

What she wasn’t really expecting from this kind of dance was how difficult it was to do anything but look at the person across from her while doing it. Once they had settled into a rhythm, Trinity couldn’t help but keep looking up at Nathaniel a bit shyly. Honestly it was awkward at first, even for her who had very little in the ways of social interaction that she felt uncomfortable about. But there was something about the sweetness of the music and the way he felt when he held her that kept drawing her eyes back until slowly, with a bit of hesitance almost like before when she’d offered to feed him a slice of cake, she stood a bit up on the toes of her heels and placed her lips gently on his.

In the moment that Nat was taking the slice Trinity presented to him, he had this unusual feeling in his chest. Yes, it was his idea all along, thinking that it would make him look cool or something in front of a girl he’s trying to impress. But did he go overboard with it? All he can think of now is try to stick the landing all the while constantly thinking how stupid it was. His heart beats faster all the while and it didn’t help how she’s keeping her eyes on him too and her cheeks becoming more prominent. Rosy coloration started forming on hers, and he might not be able to see the same on his, he can definitely feel heat rising up towards his head. He began to contemplate his actions even further. Asking why he needed to impress the lovely lady in front of him in the first place when it seems she feels the same way with her acting shyly all of a sudden because she might not be able to see it, he’s starting to feel shy towards her already as well.

Fortunately, everything was fine and he was able to mentally calm down, proceeding with the cake that from the look on Trinity’s face was as delicious as he expected it to be, perhaps even more. As a baker, who has his own bakery, this was really delectable on its own but now with the added feelings he had towards Trinity, it was a different cake entirely. Physically however, it was completely astonishing the sight alone was able to get Trinity excited which too Nathaniel appreciated, hearing one of the few sounds to come out of her was also a sign of how appreciated the gesture was. The glimmer in her eyes was reminiscent of when they first met, when they were both at the fair, she was holding two desserts and cheering her on, a sight that gives Nat inspiration and determination, even up to this day, which was something very delightful to think about as they were both eating the cake Nat had just conjured, with them apparently being completely oblivious to the stares of other people on their table looking somewhat envious that a simple mage can make cake, while the company all the while looked interested in interviewing, or even investigating into the mage from Dies Irae named Nathaniel Stratford.

Which is why when she asked her to dance, an act she can tell she wanted to do for a long time since she immediately pulled him up when the opportunity arose. And on a whim, he was delighted to comply, happily getting off of his seat in a heartbeat, throwing reason or rationale out the brain, because when they got there, Nat didn’t know what to do.

At first, he was content on simply watching Trinity move to the beat just looking awe struck at the woman before him. Eventually tho, he tried to move to the beat with her. He knew this is what they call dancing, however he didn’t know how to dance and simply followed Trinity’s lead, throwing his arms up and swaying his hips to every bump and beat of the music.

With everything going well, he just continued to dance with her, slowly getting the feel of how “dancing” works that despite his wacky moves, he thinks he’s doing it “right”. Until the music shifted to something slow and mellow. A soft and gentle tune, the kind of which reminds him of simpler times, the times when he was young and back with his family in Magnolia. Wherein during the holidays, his parents would dance around in the living room slowly holding each other in their arms and staring intently into each other’s eyes as if seeing into each other’s soul.

And with a quick look around at the other people who were also on the dance floor, he could see that they were doing exactly what his parents would do. And upon looking at his partner, who seemed to not know what to do in this kind of music, giggled with joy and excitement he called out to her and simply reached out his hand and smiled, gesturing that this time, he’ll take the lead and take care of her.

Once she had taken her hand, Nat led the dance, going back and forth then side to side, slowly swaying them both through the melody of the music. Noticing that his partner was still looking at the other people, he giggled softly once more and simply whispered to her “Just look at me, and follow my lead, you’re doing really, really great.” cheerfully. Once she had stopped looking at other people and focused all her attention at him, with her mismatched eyes beautifully gazing into his, his heart once more beat unusually. The heat he had felt earlier returned which was now aided by their hands held together; nothing was separating them, not a slice of cake, not a gap between chairs, no. He could go closer if he wanted, but still held respect for the young lady and thought that he should give her her space. In his mind he was thinking if this was too close for comfort or if it was just right. Somehow thinking of what Trinity needs causes him to act shyly as she did earlier. This feeling, though uncomfortable felt right, felt right to let it all go and be drawn. But No! He thought to himself. Respect must be maintained, he didn’t want---

The storm of thoughts were suddenly silenced in one move. A move people would call a kiss. Nat’s first one, in fact. He was filled with surprise which was evident on his eyes as they grew wider. But over time, it felt nice and right that he just let himself go and closed his eyes, savouring it. He met Trinity’s action and they shared a moment. A moment that felt uncomfortable at first, but was inevitably right. And after a few short seconds, which felt like hours for Nat, he slowly pulled away, opened his eyes and stared at her only to utter 4 words that was entirely awkward and stupid at this point in time. “I love you, Trinity.”

It took a couple minutes for Nathaniel to start dancing with her, as he was too busy watching her to get into the music himself. But eventually, he joined in the fun, earning a big smile from the young woman. Neither of them were really all that great at it, but they were having fun and that was really all that mattered. However, he did seem to be much more familiar with the slower method of dancing than she was, which meant it was a little easier to learn it with him leading her. Of course this didn’t really stop her right away from trying to observe the others around them to make sure that she was doing it right.

But soon, he pulled her gaze away from them and back up toward him, encouraging her and telling her that she was doing well and that she just needed to keep following his unspoken directions. Perhaps that was what had prompted her to kiss him. It was strange the way that a bit of slow tempo music and being held in someone’s arms, close to their face, with nowhere to really look aside from directly into another person’s eyes, brought strange impulses on a person. Trinity never really stopped too much to think about people in that regard, but from this close and from everything else that had happened that evening, she couldn’t help but think of him in terms of how handsome he was and how much she wanted to kiss him.

So, she did. It wasn’t her first kiss, but it was the first one that she’d ever initiated. Other people had kissed her before in the past, but this one felt different. Nathaniel was surprised at first but it didn’t take long for him to reciprocate the gesture, leaving both of them dancing close with one another, lips locked in a soft embrace that lasted for several long seconds. His mouth felt warm against hers, and she couldn’t help but notice how sweet he tasted -- though that could have been frosting from all the cake.

When they finally pulled their face apart, Trinity looked up at him once more with a timid expression, not entirely sure where to go from there. Her cheeks were a rosy color of blush, and she bit her lip a little nervously as she studied his face to try and figure out if he’d enjoyed the kiss. It seemed he had, as Nathaniel also just looked back down at her like his eyes never wanted to leave hers again, and he told her that he loved her.

They were strange words that Trinity had heard other people use before but didn’t really understand. She at least knew it was a positive affirmation of some kind, and thus smiled brightly up at him, though just like with the sign language he’d been using earlier Nathaniel might pick up that she didn’t quite grasp the full understanding of the phrase. Still, she smiled, and hugged him close to her, resting her head against his chest and staying like that for as long as he would let her, the two of them continuing to sway back and forth to the soft music.

It was nice to have a friend, though like all the others that had come and gone from her life Trinity couldn’t help but wonder how long this one would last. She could only hope it was for a while. Nathaniel was sweet and thoughtful, and willing to teach her new things, always happy when he saw her. He made her feel special and liked, and his smile was infectious. There weren’t a lot of people in her life that had made enough of an impression on her to make her feel sorrow over the idea of not seeing them again, but Nathaniel was one of them, so she hoped that they could find a way to stick by one another. Eventually, she was probably going to have to tell him about the weird things that always seemed to happen to her…

...but tonight, she just wanted to hold him close and enjoy his company, with a small smile on lips that still tingled pleasantly from the feel of his own.
