Loki Word Count: 302 It couldn’t be said that the red-haired man was a person extremely inclined to participate in huge group works and the like, but still, even he knew that it was beneficial to have the back up of others in this world of magic and strange occurrences. Well, from what he had observed so far anyway. It wasn’t Loki’s intention to truly mess with the good or evil sides of this whole equilibrium, his focus being more towards gathering information and making sense of certain matters, which was why he was currently making his way to one of the so called neutral guilds. In a way, he found the cold, mountainous location of this one to be rather fitting. Nothing sounds more like an isolated working place than a lone-wolfish location, and having a wolf in the name as well. Coincidence? Perhaps, and perhaps not, but that was a matter he could dwell on at a later time. Getting to his destination as fast as possible would be the first priority, as the biting cold was a constant annoyance. He wasn’t dressed either lightly, nor too heavily, the white cloak on top waving slightly with the wind that howled through the mountain passes. Long exposure to the weather would make anyone start getting frostbite however, and as much as he was doing his best to keep a brisk pace to help keep himself warm enough, it’d be troubling to have to unfreeze himself later due to having taken way too long to find the guild HQ. The rocky terrain was somewhat wacky, and he sure was forced to take a couple detours to ensure his own safety en route, but would eventually reach the desired location, pale blue eyes narrowing at the building before he extended one arm to push the doors open… |

The boy was sitting in the back of the Guild's kitchen, munching on some leftovers. Business as per usual. Not too long ago he felt like having a bit of a snack, so he walked downstairs, into the kitchen. His bird companion was out and about, scounting for people or hunting some food for himself. The boy was eating some chicken soup out of a glass bowl, while he was reading a book. It was no study book, or a research tome, or even his notebook. It was actually just a fantasy novel that he found laying about in the library and decided to give it a try. The story was about a girl and some glass throne in a giant glass castle. Love, magic and ruthless killing all made appearances. He would have to read it until the end. It was also obvious that there were more books in the series, so he didn't expect too much out of the ending, if there even would be a proper one. The boy was almost finished with his soup, when Soho flew in. The head chef glared at the bird, but didn't throw him out. Eero was allowed into the kitchen with no problems, but an animal was a bigger question mark, due to the hygiene standards. Soho landed on Eero's shoulder and the latter pet his head. Soho lowered his head and let out a soft sound in contentment. The bird would then point towards the exit of the kitchen, in the direction of the Guild's entrance. "Another one, Soho?" The boy would ask a somewhat rhetorical question. Eero knew what Soho wanted from him. The bird nodded and screeched in agreement. The boy would quickly finish the last two spoons of the soup and grab the book he was reading. "Thanks for the food!" He would thank the chef who waved at him as he headed for the entrance hall.
Eero was kind of surprised to see an another person enter the Guild's grounds so soon. Maybe he shouldn't be. Perhaps the word of Silver Wolf had started to spread and it was slowly bringing in new people. New researchers. New fellow guildmates. Whatever the cause was, it was good for the Guild. Eero would enter the Guild's entrance hall from the side where the dining room and kitchen were. He saw the stranger entering the building. The stranger was clad in a white cloak, that seemed semi-warm. It was quite in the contrast with his red hair. "Greetings traveler!" The boy would greet the other. "I am Eero and I welcome you to the Guild of Silver Wolf. Is there anything you are searching for?" Eero would present the Guild and offer help, once more.

Leona was looking at her ram dao. It had served her well on many adventures, but it was worn down and needed improvement. Maybe someone could help her get the weapon back into fighting shape. That was her goal for today. Dressed in a blue t-shirt and khaki cargo pants, she got her backpack and put on her Argent Gloves before shutting her room door and walking down the stairs.
Leona heard Eero greeting another stranger and possible new member. Eero had a knack for being the first to greet new people. Leona did not mind. He needed to meet new people as much as she did. There was one small issue to take care of.
She did not want to greet new people while carrying a weapon. That might give them the wrong idea. Leona just placed it in a corner, leaning it into the corner so that the handle was against the wall. That should do the trick. When that small matter was taken care of, Leona walked forward to greet the red-haired fellow.
"Hi there. I'm Leona Jarnefeldt, Ace of Silver Wolf." Leona greeted him. In addition to bright red hair, he had pale blue eyes. He certainly stood out.

Desmond was in the woods of the mountain that his guild hall rested on. He wasn't doing much but scouting the area, and trying to get a feel for the terrain and wildlife here. General things that he does when in a new location, especially one he hasn't been in very long. So, he was crouching down, taking a look at a few of the plants before he heard footsteps. The man, clad in his hunting suit, quickly stood up, and peeked from behind the tree he was near, to see a man with red hair going along the path to the guild hall. This prompted an imaginary question mark above Desmond's head, as he then came to the conclusion that the man was probably a newcomer to the guild, just as he was. If those strange blue wolves were there for something, it was probably allowing the goodies in and keeping the baddies out.
So, naturally, this got Desmond's mind wandering. What could he do... What could he do... Then a devilish thought came into mind and a devilish smile on his face to accompany it. He turned on his silencers, as well as his invisibility cloak, then climbed up onto the tree. Following and slowly stalking the man, going from tree to tree, until he reached the guild hall. Still invisible, he watched as Ms Leona, the ace of the guild, and some kid he's never seen before - presumably another member of the guild - came to greet him. Now was his time to strike.
Desmond silently crept behind the man, then fully stood up. First, his eyes became visible, the two large glowing eyes menacingly staring towards the two Silver Wolf Members from behind the newcomer, then the rest of his body, as he made a motion as though he was going to attack the red haired man, without a sound.

Loki Word Count: 274 Total Count: 576 Fast. Yes, Loki had expected to grab the attention of whoever was currently present inside the building, however it had taken a fairly large chunk of time less than he would have thought. Did the door have some secret bell system he hadn’t noticed, or were people simply that observant around here? A passing curiosity, but one that probably did not matter a whole lot. Glancing at the young man with rather strange hair style, he would cock his head to the side slightly at the sight, though his expression remained mostly neutral and unchanged as he started giving a response. “Good day to you as well.”, he’d state, pausing for a few moments to consider how to answer the following inquiry. “You…could say that I came to check out the guild. You lot have chosen a quite interesting location to have a base at.” Certainly, the snowy mountains were not a child’s park to be wandering through, and could potentially deter some people from trying to make a journey up here in favor of more easily accessible guilds. “…that’s quite the welcoming committee you’ve got here.”, he’d add almost as an afterthought when the woman came, introducing herself as the ace of this guild. “You can call me Loki. It’s a pleasure, I suppose.” Not to say pleasantries were his strongest point, but one has to start somewhere. Unluckily for him though, there was another person trying to make a move, but as it was, he didn’t really have a way of noticing them just yet, even less so when he was focused on the two in front of him at the moment. |

So the stranger was indeed interested in the Guild. When he noted on its location, Eero would just shrug a little. "It does well to protect the Guild from intruders and also sifts through people with wrong intentions." The boy would explain. Though he enjoyed this sort sense of privacy that the Guild's grounds had. From behind him, Eero heard a familiar voice, Leona. He was glad that she showed up, since Eero didn't hold any too high of a rank within the Guild and thus he couldn't perform any official business. When the stranger introduced himself as Loki, the boy would nod.
The boy would turn his head towards Leona. "I think the Guild joining process is your stage, Leona." He would say and step back. Eero was about to turn to face Loki, when Soho would let out a screech and fly off. "What..?" Eero would turn to where Soho had flown off to and the sight he saw was quite something. Standing behind Loki, there was a strange person in a suit, at least Eero hoped there was a person inside there. Soho would be holding onto the person's hand, that was in a position as if he was attempting to strike Loki and holding him back from striking. Eero's posture immediately turned into a wary and ready-to-strike-back stance. "What is the meaning of this? How did you get in?" He would ask the intruder in a firm voice. Eero couldn't get too worked up, however. He couldn't let his other self get loose.

Leona listened to the red-haired fellow speak. He had introduced himself as Loki. Leona listened as Eero stated that inducting Loki into the guild was within her purview as Guild Ace. Eero then took a step back, allowing her to approach the newcomer.
"Eero's right, Loki. I have the authority to induct new members into the guild. If you have any questions you'd like answered before you join, I'd be happy to answer them." Leona informed Loki. Only moments later she paused as someone in a strange suit boasting large, prominent yellow eyes suddenly appeared behind the redhead. Eero assumed a defensive position in case it was an enemy attack. Leona quickly bent down and drew the knife in her boot.
"Watch out, Loki!" Leona shouted as she took a step towards the person. It could have been an animated suit of armor for all she knew. It did not matter who or what the threat was. If it threatened the guild, she would do her best to stop it.

Desmond got quite the reaction from his two guild mates. His hand was stopped from his fake attack on Loki, and Ms. Leona was approaching him with a knife. Very defensive, very afraid, and very hilarious.
"Heh heh heh..."
The suit's voice modifier was taking effect, as it gave off this demonic, raspy voice instead if his normal calm and smooth voice.
"I... Am a creature of the night, I am one that feasts on the nightmares of children, I am one that shall be the end of all of you. I am..."
The suit around desmond seemingly began evaporating away, as though it were just some sort of digital thing that faded away. This revealed the man inside the suit, and since the suit was being grabbed by the bird and not him, his arm was now free. Desmond obviously wasn't wearing his fedora, but he did have on his suit and tie.
"...screwing with you! Ha!"
The hunter broke out into a fit of laughter, but quickly regained composure. He folded his arms, with a smug smile still on his face, still thinking about what just happened.
"Sorry for the spook. Actually, not really sorry at all. Anyways, Ms. Leona, who are these two? I've never seen them before."
Desmond made it obvious that he knew Leona, and therefore not a threat to Eero. That was his intentions, at least, but he couldn't read minds. Regardless, the hunter waited for all knives to be put away and all birds to be withdrawn before he greeted the 2 strangers to him.

Loki Word Count: 308 Total Count: 884 These guys were certainly quick on the uptake. He hadn’t even said he was about to join yet, just that he had an interest in checking it out. Those two didn’t automatically have to be one and the same. To be fair however, the eagerness struck him as mildly amusing, even though he had to wonder what inspired this forwardness when it came to accepting new people. They didn’t even ask anything about him. While Loki didn’t know that much about how all the guilds operated, he would have thought at least some screening might be in order, lest they might let people who’d be better off elsewhere join on a whim. Well, he was about to open his mouth to inquire on some of these things, but then an unwelcome interruption reared its head. Pale blue eyes would narrow as that bird flew over to attack something behind him, the redhead taking a reflexive leap forwards before turning to face whatever was apparently behind him. With a mild frown on his face, he’d remain silent at first, taking a somewhat defensive stance in case a fight actually broke out. He found it silly that an actual beast intent to kill would pause to brag about itself before doing it, giving its opponents a chance to counter, but one could never be certain at the end of the day. “Really….”, he would sigh, a sort of disappointed tone as he shifted to stand more casually, crossing his arms over his chest once the ‘enemy’ revealed itself to be what seemed…a member of this place. Assuming he understood this correctly. “How childish. Is this guy the guild clown mascot?” Loki wasn’t a fan of those really, but at least that would make it less dumb than a normal member pulling lame pranks like that at the wrongest of moments. |

Eero wasn't sure what he had just witnessed. After a few cheesy lines, the suit behind Loki evaporated and revealed the man who was inside. /"Whatever just happened.."/ At least there was indeed a man inside, as per Eero's wish. As the suit evaporated, Soho lost his grip on and circled above the man. He was clad in a suit and had bright, green hair. Eero could tell for sure that he hadn't seen him before. It seemed that the man knew Leona, though. The boy wasn't sure what to make of the situation. Loki, on the other hand, was very much unimpressed with the prank or whatever the man was trying to pull. Eero thought that he could probably relax, so he would wave at Soho to come back.
His bird companion was still wary of the man, but flew back to Eero and sat on his shoulder again. The man placed his question upon Leona about him and the newcomer. "I'm Eero, member of Silver Wolf." He would reply for himself, expecting Leona to elaborate a little on the man's question. "Pleasure to meet you, I guess." The boy would mumble the second part under his breath. Maybe the man thought himself funny, but in Eero's eyes that wasn't the type of comedy he enjoyed. Especially when it came to pulling such pranks on newcomers. Thankfully, Loki really wasn't fazed by what just transpired and hopefully wouldn't think less of the Guild because of it.

Leona listened to the stranger's explanation of who he was and what he did. Leona was ready to fight until the suit began to dissolve and show that Desmond was the person responsible. The blonde was not entertained. Thankfully Loki kept his cool. Hopefully he did not think that Desmond's antics were the standard welcome to newcomers.
"Sorry about that." Leona apologized to everyone while putting away her knife. She had to be careful when pulling weapons in the guild hall. She did not want Loki or anyone else to think that any unexpected appearances would be met with a drawn weapon. Still, it could not be argued that the sudden appearance of Desmond's suit, when coupled with his choice of words, constituted a threat. Fortunately there was no need to fight; the "ambush" was only a prank.
Speaking of Loki, the redhead did not looked alarmed. Rather, he looked almost annoyed by what had happened. Leona envied his ability to keep cool.
"Loki, would you like to hear an explanation of what the guild does?" Leona asked Loki. Leona had probably come on too strong earlier. She needed to tone it down and not assume that every visitor to the hall wanted to join the guild. She was mildly embarrassed, but she would get over it. At least Loki could not say that he did not receive an enthusiastic welcome.

Re: Gate of the Mountains [Intro/Open]
Desmond chuckled a bit, still with his arms folded as he heard the responses of each of the members. Most disappointing of the bunch was Loki's, which just made him off to be some antic-driven clown.
"Childish? Meh, I've been called worse. But F-Y-I, no, I'm no clown. Just a guy with a unique sense of humour, I guess."
Desmond walked over to Eero, and extended his hand for a handshake. Sure, he may have immediately painted himself in a negative light to all 3 of the people here, but he wasn't a mindless prankster, nor was he unmannered. He just seized an open opportunity to spook a few people who haven't seen his hunting gear yet.
"Desmond Troy. Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Eero. I apologize if I came off wrong. And I, too, am a member of Silver Wolf."
Whether or not Eero accepted the handshake, afterward Desmond returned his hands to his sides. He took a few steps back until he was beside the entrance to the guild, where he then folded his arms and leaned against the wall, to listen in on their conversation. The guy with the red hair already rubbed Desmond the wrong way, and sure it may have been the hunter's own fault, but he believed that reacting that sourly to a harmless prank was just too... Dull.

Re: Gate of the Mountains [Intro/Open]
Loki Word Count: 255 Total Count: 1139 Well, that was certainly a unique sense of humor. One that wouldn’t necessarily sit well with everyone, considering that only a handful of people genuinely liked having silly pranks pulled on them without their consent. Regardless, Loki would offer the bright green haired man a brief wry smile. “Better hope that unique humor of yours doesn’t get you killed one day. I could see a few ways how doing that could have gone wrong.” Had anyone here been the type to respond to a potential threat without a pause, this could have even resulted in injuries happening, all because of an apparent joke. That would have honestly been a pain in the ass to deal with. That said, he would wave a hand at Leona’s apology, letting the thing slide for now, as much as he wasn’t very impressed by the prankster guy specifically. “At least we aren’t mopping up any blood here.” Silver lining? Perhaps. Glancing over at the blonde woman, he’d adjust the collar of his cloak thoughtfully. “I think I have a basic idea from what I’ve heard about it, but extra explanation is never a lost cause.” He didn’t mind hearing some specifics. After all, that was partially the point of coming all the way to a guild instead of sticking to simply passing information that floated around away from it. |

Leona had her knife drawn, but once the threat had revealed himself to be a man in a suit, she put it away. She apologized and offered Loki space to ask questions about the Guild. However, when the man said that he had 'unique' sense of humour, Eero had to agree. /"It's certainly 'unique', alright."/ He thought sourly. Nothing more funny than a prank that involved a threat to hurt somebody. The man walked up to him, introducing himself as Desmond Troy. Apparently he was a member of the Guild aswell. That meant that he must've been one of the people who joined fairly recently and didn't have time to meet them quite yet. He apologized and offered a handshake. Eero accepted it, out of politeness. What Loki said , though, was true. Such pranks could go downhill very fast, especiall if there was a rash or temperamental person with them there. Which, in this case, thankfully wasn't.
The redhead then took up on Leona's offer, wishing to know more about the Guild than was just publicly known. The boy would nod, but staying quiet. It was understandable that Loki would want to know more if he was to join them, but it was not a question directed completely at him. Eero would leave the answering to Leona, unless he was called out to add or clarify anything.

I would like to say that there is more to our Guild than meets the eye. Right..? -Eero

Re: Gate of the Mountains [Intro/Open]
"All right Loki. Our guild mission is to conduct magical research. We also travel far and wide to collect magical artifacts for research, but that's more of a secondary goal that goes hand-in-hand with the first. One application of magical research is in the making of custom weapons for guild members, but we do more than that." Leona started her explanation.
"Despite our primary goal being magical research, members aren't limited to doing only guild work. You're also not limited to just research. If you want to help with minor tasks around here, there's always small things that need to be done, like helping clean the library or clean the hot springs. If that's not your thing, we're looking for mages willing to travel to collect artifacts." Leona continued. Hopefully Loki would take an interest in what she was saying. She would not bore him by dragging out the explanation. She would finish it with what she felt was a good clincher.
"I've used the freedom of choice plenty of times to take on jobs that weren't guild-related. I've collected plant samples in Beanstalk Village, retrieved flesh-eating mares from a barbarian king in Lycan Woods, and even cleaned stables in Hosenka. As long as you don't do anything to make the guild look bad, you can choose the jobs you want to do." Leona finished by recounting a few of her adventures that were not guild-related. She would try to think of something else that might catch Loki's interest, but like with Desmond, she would not beg. Loki was free to join Silver Wolf or go to another guild if he decided that Silver Wolf was not a good fit for him.

Re: Gate of the Mountains [Intro/Open]
Loki Word Count: 284 Total Word Count: 1423 The redheaded man would remain silent for the most part, having no reason to interrupt Leona’s explaining mid-way. Once she was done with her surprisingly extensive list of job and focus options, Loki would close his eyes briefly, seemingly thinking about something before giving a fairly simple response. “There’s no need to offer a countless amount of alternatives. Luckily for you, I am mostly interested in doing some types of research, therefore that suits me just fine.” That was one of the reasons why he was here to begin with anyway. He had heard some basic information about the guilds before having wandered out all this way after all. It wouldn’t exactly be the most worthy journey considering the somewhat unforgiving climate, were it just an entirely blind visit. He wasn’t the type of person to take on trips like that simply on a whim most of the time. These mountains could be quite dangerous to brave unless one was ready for the cold, blizzard ridden weather that could descend upon them at any moment. “Though…”, he’d add as an afterthought a moment later, “I’m somewhat interested in knowing how many members this guild has? I’m not a fan of extremely crowded places. It makes working inconvenient.” And hard to focus on, among other things. He did take note that the other two were being rather silent right now, but since he had absolutely no reason to be goading them into joining this conversation, he’d simply leave it up to them as to whether they were going to add anything to this. After all, he was fine as long as he got the necessary information and all, regardless of whose mouth it came from. |

Leona explained the basics of the Guild to Loki. Their goals and the like. She gave him a good roundup of what he could expect from the Guild, if he were to join. Loki then explained that he is well interested in the research itself, so the alternatives were not exactly needed for him. Eero was glad to hear that. Instead, Loki raised a different question. A rather interesting one, at that.
The newcomer seemed to be interested in the Guild's member count. Loki explained that he preferred working in places with small amounts of people. Eero reckoned that the same could be said about the most of their members. "We are relatively small, at the moment. But we seem to have been attracting some new people as of late, though." The boy would chuckle and nod towards Loki. "But yeah. Ultimately, there's not that many of us." Eero would add and look at Leona, seeing if she wanted to add anything to what he had just said.

Perhaps one day we will be a one huge Guild. Kinda hopefully not, actually.

Re: Gate of the Mountains [Intro/Open]
"Eero's right, Loki. We're kinda small at the moment." Leona seconded Eero's statement. The guild was indeed small. Small but growing and growing quickly.
'I can give you a rough count, Loki. I'd say 12-15 members at the moment. But we're growing by the day, so that number's subject to change." Leona informed the redhead. He seemed to know what he liked and what he wanted out of the guild. That was good. She would not have to guess now that he had expressly told her what he wanted.
"So you want to do research, huh? You're in luck. There's usually one project or another going on, so there's always something to do. If there's not a project underway, there's chances to start one of your own. For example, I'm planning an expedition to Silent Cemetery to look for artifacts there." Leona informed him. He looked like the kind of guy who could do field work and lab work with ease. If that was so, Silver Wolf could use someone like him. The guild always needed researchers.
