    'I led a very simple life back then. When I really think about it, it actually was not all that long ago. Five years into the past, I worked for the Rune Knights. Outstanding group to be a part of, right? Well, to be honest, I did not join for that reason. My own ideals regarding discipline and work simply happened to align well best with that particular job. Beyond that, I spent the majority of my time alone whether it was reading a book or taking walks in the nearby Eastern Forest. I also at the time had a piano at home, which I played all the time. It was old and it went out of tune pretty often but it did its job for a long time. I miss that hunk o’ junk a lot these days. Anyway, every day had pretty much the same routine: wake up at 3:30 in the morning, train for two hours, get cleaned up, work the entire day without stopping for a break, go home, train another two hours, eat something, go to sleep, rinse and repeat. I did this same thing from the age of 18 to the age of 23 years old.

    Boring, I know. But then I got promoted a few times and started getting put on actual jobs. I guess that was about the time my perspectives on living began to change bit by bit. Helping people gave me this sense of accomplishment I hadn’t felt in the last five years; it was a sincerely good feeling. At this point, I still had plenty of time on my days off to play my piano and read, though my ability to take walks in the forest lessened. Over time, I didn’t mind though. That feeling I got when helping people gave me a rush of happiness I hadn’t felt in… well ever, at the time.'

    'If my memory serves, the last job I took before the Rune Knights were taken down was the protection of that wedding ceremony. Met a man named Isaac and one other that I can’t seem to put my finger on. It was a strange night, and interestingly enough it was the night I started to kind of understand what I really wanted to do with my time. That didn’t change, even after I was out of an occupation with the Magic Council. It was a couple of weeks after those events which led to meeting my last remaining familial relative, Elyx Reiaki, whom also happened to be a Wizard Saint at the time. I was pretty surprised back then but when I really think about it nowadays, I wonder why I didn’t put two and two together more quickly. I remember it being pretty humiliating that he was so much younger than me and was equally that much stronger too. That was really the turning point in my life where I decided I wanted to become a certified mage. Oh yeah, about a week after that, Elyx took me on a job. That was not so fun at the time, considering I was still only classified as a fledgling C-class. It did teach me a lot though; I was grateful to him for inviting me.

    It was a few weeks after that when I got a letter from Elyx to go to a volcano. I remember being pretty suspicious at the time but still went anyway. While there, INSIDE the volcano, I was toyed with by a tanuki named Hyojin Izayuki who was disguised as my cousin. That is, until the real one finally showed up. She is a good person to the majority of an extent, knowing her now, but back then I was skeptical. That was also the day two important things happened. The first was that I officially became a B-class mage which took me by surprise considering Elyx did most of the work. The other, perhaps bigger, thing that happened was my cousin offered a place in a guild he founded, named Golden Phoenix. Then one event after another kept occurring. Reiaki gave me a task before I left the volcano; I was supposed to find a woman whom went by the name Venir and give her a bottle of lava. Man, I still remember her clear as day. And I say that because well… I never saw her again after that.'
