The guild had changed after the war with the Rune Knights had come to an end the slaughter of the animy had not come at free from sacrifice comrades and I suppose you could call them friends had perished in the fight now looking around though you would not recognise the now re arrected guild hall it was strange to say the least to have such a new place to call home and yet it looked so old.

Shaking her head Thorn sat in the guild hall for once she was on the ground not attending to her plants when the sound of chains filled the air rattling through the the hall "you can never sneak up on anyone can you Mel" Thorn asked tilting her head softly at the woman in rags that appeared out of the shadows "I am sorry mistress but one of the people in your pillar are ready for grading what do you wish to do?" she asked in a nervous tone "get him to the catacombs I will give him a task!" Thorn stated walking off towards the place she would meet the candidate.

Mage examinations huh. It was rather stupid to go through some 'test' as a dark mage, but Raiza supposed that was enough as a recognition to his fellow comrades. That, and he knew with him having fallen in battle against the rune knights, yet surviving none the less, has made him not just a survivor, but something to strive for, to become better than he once was. To be able to ascend, and level up. After all, most games do have a leveling feature and this was no different. Pass the examination, show those near him he is worthy of such a thing, then go out and continue his training, becoming better all the way.

being instructed to go to the catacombs was no surprise really, Raiza in all honesty never been down to the catacombs but he knew they were sacred to the guild, no doubt here was the testing grounds for many of the savage skull members. "Interesting" Raiza's words slipped past his lips, smiling gently as he heard the foot steps of another down the hall. It was Thorn, his lead in the pillar of screams. "Been a long time, since that job we did, hasn't it Mistress Thorn?" Though as casual as his words were, one could tell Raiza was armed to the teeth. He had all his clothing and weaponry on him in a fashion that would be symbolic to a war. He was more than ready for this test.

    DAY ONE

Greatest fears? Use a plant to protect himself and the catacombs from intruders? HA!!!! The catacombs are already protected by a vast guard system, and now Raiza. Fears? Who has any form of stupid emotional concept as a fear? Raiza doesn't fear anything, or so he at least thought. Even so much as a thought of fear made Raiza agitated to walk around, turning corner after corner, counting the seconds. "Survive here for seven days? EASY!!! you hear me Thorn!? THIS WILL BE EASY!!!!"

Though it started as a whisper, just a chilling faint coldness, no word could be discerned from the whispered sound in Raiza's ears. A turn of his head, Raiza saw nothing. Petty tricks by Thorn no doubt, or at least that was Raiza's thought process of this entire enduring predicament. Once he was done, then it was done, he'd be allowed to leave, and just say oh hey, he leveled up, right? "What kind of lame test is it to stay in this place for seven days". Though Raiza had no idea how amazing of a test this really was.

Turning around to head towards the entrance, still holding the seed. "Maybe I should plant this if I do want to go further in for some fun, maybe take some selfies with the dead". Though he had not realized how far he had actually gone, fairly deep into the labrynth, and because he wasn't thinking about he, he had very little concept of direct, almost as if things got shifted. The more he tried to return, it felt like the wrong path. Though even after careful consideration of the pathway he took, one thing was for sure, he was not lost...no all of the key points, small details, webs, dust, dirt, rocks, and cracks, he analyzed everything, one of the hallways were locked, to prevent him from going back past that point, making sure he would stay. The first day was filled with whispers, where and when to turn, and the faint whispered sounds only got more and more frequent just to install paranoia into Raiza. Annoyed at being trapped in this maze of a catacomb, Raiza sighed, he was caged in a metaphorical sense, he was trapped, unable to escape this place, although he did not want to, he after all felt it was unnecessary.

Not to argue a point that cannot be changed, or the fact someone was not even near him. "There is" the words could not be entirely heard, but it became apparent, maybe something was near him. The escaped sigh that ran past his lips only encouraged him to start walking some more. "Don't suppose I'm not allowed to sleep now, am I?" hmm... Thorn didn't say I can't just lounge around, yet this place is made up of solid stone, hard edges, and well... the stench isn't the greatest either. i cannot imagine a good place to lay down other than prop myself up against a wall...wait why am I even talking to myself instead of just thinking it....ugh", already a day in, and the fear of being trapped set it, with bits of paranoia forcing him to think another person was in the catacombs with him.

Though shaking his head and sliding down a near by wall to close his eyes for a bit, at least he knew he could get potential sleep. Though... this would simply be the end of day one.

    Day Two

Raiza would find himself awoken by a terrible ear piercing scream, a voice recognizable, yet not discernible. It was a friend, but who? It was someone that meant a lot. Thorn? the one who got him into savage skull... Alleria, she was another savage skull member, a mentor to him in his training, but also a good friend...then there was Annora, the female he had once done more than one job with, and had been the seed to start him towards a darker life. those were the only three that truly had earned Raiza's true friendship, but the scream had been so loud to jolt him awake, he could not tell who it had came from? Why were they here? Why would either one of them come down here? Why!! Why were one of them in danger? Had Thorn came down here thinking the worst, and gotten hurt? Did Alleria learn of the test, and decide to come help? What about Annora? did she come here, and get attacked by savage skull?!

The thoughts raced through Raiza's mind. To him, the scream could only mean one of the three were hurt. The labyrinth like catacombs last he had checked, was sealed off from leaving. So now... he was not only caged inside the catacombs, but those he were loyal to, those he had befriended may be in trouble?

    "no fear?"

A whisper was all it took, Raiza had violently turned his body around, pushing his fist outward right into a wall, having forgotten that was the exact wall he was sleeping against. The voice had come so clearly behind him, he had not even more than a second to react. "son of a bitch, ow fuck!!!" The pain shot throughout his entire fist. Luckily, he didn't break it from punching solid stone, but it did start to bleed, having broken many layers of skin cells around his knuckles, and sprain his wrist in the process.

The paranoia had long set in. The whispers in his ears were still around, only now some of the words began to become close enough to understandable. The words 'no fear' had definatly set into his mind. Right, this was to test his fears, ones he claimed he had none of. Though the feeling of helplessness, unable to help who ever came down here, the feeling of being trapped. The delusions that had began to set in. Then finally, now a horrid pain in his right wrist due to punching the wall so hard. Something that'd take a couple days at least to stop throbbing so damn hard. Not a very wise choice, punching a wall after all...

How much longer did he have to even endure this? It was only day two right? Wait... how long did he sleep? An hour? Four hours? Eight hours? Hard to tell, and Raiza had been wandering around, now trying to search for the voice, as well as search for the screams. It was hard to tell how long he slept, how long he had wandered, and how long he had simply relaxed in one spot. The flow of time felt stopped to him, and this was only...day two. Though this was no easy task for sure. While the awnser was clearly ahead of him, he was far too anxious to think straight right at the moment, something he knew he would have to do soon.

Which in time he did, after many hours of wandering he stopped dead in his tracks. "The H.U.D activation... how stupid can I be. This is a test of a mage, not a human. I am a gamer mage, how can I forget...", though when he realized this, his H.U.D had opened up, his eyes saw everything like normal. Health bar, mana bar, inventory, cooldowns, spell list, level C with an arrow pointing up then a questionmark near it. Did this mean even his HUD know he was getting a potential level up? He was classified as a C-rank mage, going for his B-rank, and now his magic responded to such a thing.

The clock had read the right time, and it was more than obvious now he was on the second day, in fact it was about to cross into the third day. How long was he asleep after all? A definite time spurt of about six hours must have passed, long enough for his mind to rest up, but also long enough for what ever was in here to slowly install thoughts into his mind.

Could he risk sleep again? It was a risky move, and to Raiza, this risk was not worth it. Time to get ready for day three, which would start right about....

    Day Three

Now, he finally spoke up. The words mumbled past his lips as he spoke fairly half assed. So far, so good. It was midnight, and that meant he had slept roughly six hours on day one, refusing to sleep for day two. He had fallen to sleep, guessing a rough near midnight, possibly Eleven on day one. So at most he had been awake about fifteen hours. Not bad, and to him, he had been awake for a couple days before.

"R--Raiza Help", this time the voice was not a scream, but a cry for help, only a whisper as if very far in the distance. They had to be in the catacombs by now, and Raiza had not eaten. Thats right.... no food for an entire week? What about water? The catacombs were underground, some of the water that made it inside was from the cracks in stone from above. Water would be essencial for survival in some way or another. It was the one thing he always kept on him as well, a canteen of water. Luckily it was full, but how much did he need? What about the friend in need? How long had they been down here? How hurt are they? Save some for them, or drink it all yourself?

His heart beat faster, his mind raced. It was day three now, and this meant he had gone one full day with no food or water. He had eaten on day one, since he had a very great breakfast, having prepared for a long 'day' of testing. So, he knew the possibility of surviving without food for the next few days would be harsh but do-able. His more analytical mind began to set in. "lets see...I've gone without food before for a couple days, but never without water. The human body requires primarily water, as one can survive about two to three weeks without it. Though the magic factor...is hard to calculate", indeed. Magic required fuel as well. It was no wonder why his natural healing did not kick in to his wrist, his body was conserving all the magical energy it could, so not to spend it and cause a faster dehydration, or food deprived state.

"guess it can't be helped", his words indicated he had developed a large calculation, his HUD had vanished, and most of his body felt fairly vulnerable. He had physically shut all of his abilities away, including the passive magical ones, just to conserve as much energy as possible. He knew all he had to do was activate the HUD every once and awhile, never rely on it, and check the times.

Though despite all this, his pace had never stopped, turn after turn he sought after the cry for help.

"who is it?" the words was more clear than ever, but still faded edges. The whispers were much more able to be heard, rather than feeling like gusts in his ears. The words only forced new thoughts, new paranoia as he looked behind him while still walking. The cry for help never returned, but a moan of some sort had been replaced. The audible part of the moan he could hear was the 'iza' at the end.Though the moan could not be placed as one in pain, or pleasure

However, Raiza had only assumed one of the two, which swinging his arm with a closed fist against the stone wall, not hard this time, more to just show anger. This  had struck a nerve. "I don't like none of them like that, tempting me with lust is just dirty. I do not care be you a spirit, or Thorn fucking with me.  I will set things straight". Picking up the pace as he began to walk forward again, feeling very frustrated now, that the catacombs had been messing with him. Though he had no idea this was all just part of the test. The spirit that would force him to confront fears knew him very well. While some of it was paranoia, and his own mind playing tricks. The spirit was behind only small subtle things

    "Then why blush?"

This time the words were clear, crystal clear. Raiza had winced in annoyance "shut the fuck up already, I'll rescue who ever it is, then go back to my test". Though there were no one to rescue. Raiza's words were filled with his mind, and he had no idea that this was too, part of his test. Being caged, being helpless, testing his loyalty to help those he felt were true friends, and guild-mates.

His body trembled slightly from aggravation as he took a small sip from the canteen he had on him. There was still about 90 percent left, and something he had not even thought about was the fact... he could make food and water with his magic. Yet that too took magic, and because of it, he would find out this was going to be much harder than it seemed.

Now though, his mind started to lose it's keen awareness, small instances where he would brush up against a wall or a coffin, the sharp edge catching a bit of his clothing causing a tear here and there. Then the points when Raiza would take off in a sprint, because he felt the voice was even closer than he thought, hoping to rush to aid, only to cause careless mistakes as there were many pathways he took. It took all day, but eventually, he looked as if he had traveled for a week or two straight. His clothing was dirty, dusty, and his body had scrapes all over it. the  clothing he wore had tears here and there. Even his gaze became dull, looking as if he was near a loss of energy. Sleep? He deprived himself from it, but the fact he was walking all day, had pushed him to collapse eventually where he stood, falling over, and sleeping in the middle of the corridor he was walking down, with only one goal in his mind 'help the friend' He had even deprived himself from water, other than that small sip he took.

    DAY Four

The day?... Raiza had no longer any clue. He had slept for a multitude of hours. Estimating at least twelve hours, if not even longer. How long was he awake though? Though it bothered him, who was it? Which of the three he could immediately think of... the voice was so unclear, yet at the same time, he recognized it? He had other encounters he knew of, such as bell, but the voice he knew it didn't belong to her. It had to be one of the three he thought of immediately. Though the harder he thought about it, the more frustrated he got, knowing the whispers he heard from the spirit or...what ever it was he knew of was still bothering him.

The hunger had set in by now, but he knew survival for up to two to three weeks was possible. Survival, yes... good condition? No. The pain was agonizing that left Raiza near the brink of passing out constantly. Water intake was low too. He could easily drink from the canteen he had, but yet the voices inside of his head swayed him otherwise. The thought of a friend in here, in trouble, in need of it. The spirit that was here, testing him and haunting him, it was relentless. While Raiza normally would, and could anaylze the situation, things truly stuck not just his weak points, but his fears too. The constant caged feeling, left him angry, irrational, and it was something that only finally broke, he was afraid of it, but still calmed, he knew he would find a way out of no matter what restraint.

Still leaning against one of the corridor walls, he began to notice another thing. His secondary magic felt amplified near the dead. The spirit near him began to have coherent sentences, urging him to move on, and to save the friend. Though was it really a the spirit, or just...hallucinations by now.

    Day Five

Hallucinations, spirits, haunting... and just general deprivation of food and water. Raiza was still leaning against the wall, it was an entire day since he really moved far, but the one thing he had thought of was the seed Thorn gave him. "Plant this, and it'll protect huh... ". The more he thought about it, the more he had come to the conclusion that it is just part of the test. Plant it, and he fails? Tough call, and more so, Raiza was being pushed into the corner more and more. It would be nothing to survive in the wild for months, but survive in a trapped room with no water other than what he brought for provisions, which...he refused to use for himself.

Finally, the next cry for help echo'd through the halls, it became more distinct. The voice, it was less clustered, and much more closer than normal. Raiza whom was already on his feet by the time the echo stopped, he began to rush through the corridor. The images flew past his mind, his H.U.D ability activated, getting ready to analyze nearly everything he could. He had not even began to notice how little energy he had, and more so the H.U.D failed him within minutes of being activated.

"Damn it..." Raiza gritted his teeth as he turned the corner too sharp, a statue had a portion of the base stick out too far, and caused him to trip right into the other statue, leaving a painful gash into his thigh as he slammed into the other statue while tripping. Adrenaline pumping still, the blood loss was not enough to cause death, but his magical energy was slowly depleeting further to heal the wound, at least far enough to allow natural recovery an easier time to handle.

Though he still persisted on, blood slowly leaking from his leg while he tore off part of his cloak just to tie around the leg so to clot the blood around said leg while his reaper recovery took place. Carelessness, and the haunting of the spirit was causing him to wound himself more than any intruder could, and at this point, Raiza barely felt the need to persit on to a test. The thought of coming back to a test when he was much more prepared had struck his mind. Though another think came to mind which only made him further keep stepping forward "I refuse to loose any game that is put in front of me."

While the mind and the will were unbroken, Raiza slowly slid down the wall again, wanting to pass out from the blood loss, but no, he had to keep patrolling the catacombs.

    Day 6 & Finale

Finally, day six. All Raiza had to do was survive today, because day seven would be the day the maze wall opens up, and he finally is finished with the examination.

]"Can you survive knowing you let a friend die?" The voice whispered in his ear once more. His eyes lit up like they were on fire, anger boiled through his body as he staggered to a standing position. "I have not let anyone die, and I'll be damned if I let anyone who came down here die". His voice filled with rage as he paced forward deeper into the catacombs, or was it closer to the exit? Even Raiza had lost track of direction down here by now, but what was apparent was now the lack of water had long set in. His body ached throughout, and he was nearly passing out on his own feet. Allowing himself a second sip only just to keep going. Water, feeling almost like liquid gold onto his chapp'd lips from the lack of water, it was not enough just one sip, but yet he knew the rest must be saved. Ensure the one that cried out to him can still be saved.

Yet could they? When was the first cry for help? Was it truly the spirit? The hallucinations? What was it. Yet the source did not matter, what mattered to Raiza at this point was just to keep pushing on, further, and take the steps at each moment, remind himself to take the next step.

"Who of the three can you afford to loose?"
As if that was a question, Raiza shook his head "I wont loose anyone" Though the whimper of pain as he fell to his knees from his own body nearly giving up on him again. How long had he been walking, a couple hours no doubt, but still, that should have been nothing for him. How long had it been since food? Nearly a week now, and it caused pulsing pains in his stomach for such a thing. Food, a thing he took for granted just because theft was a thing. A hard knot to swallow, but this was true, now it was no longer hard to see what this examination entailed. The test put to the test his fortitude, his will power, his physical determination, his fears, and himself in general. Everything was nearly put to the test in this turning point. What would the next test be? Now that was something that would no doubt haunt him at a later date.

However his eyes flickered back open, had he passed out on his knees? The hallway was shaking, no it was just him, his mind still grasping the center of balance. Dizziness set in, and he heard the cry once again. This time...from behind?

His mind raced, his body still hurting, yet in this adrenaline filled moment, he saw her, a woman's body cloaked in black, unable to be seen as to who it was until Raiza brushed his hand against the hood, pulling it back to reveal the face of Thorn. "What... Thorn Why? Why interfere in my test you gave me...", then the pain truly set in. She looked deprived of water and food. "Wait, I..I...I have water, don't you die on me damn it". Looking at Thorn whom was barely awake, he had handed her the canteen, and though she took and drank, something would shock his mind, the pain coursed his body.

The hallway shook, if one had to classify the intensity, it was as if being put through a scale 9 earthquake, all while being spun around. The dizziness set in. The spirit's laughs could be heard. Raiza's eyes closed as he lost balance while on his knees, helping...wait who?

His eyes were open, Thorn was gone, the water on the canteen was emptied out onto the floor, and he was currently pouring the rest out. Was the cries just another part of the hallucination.

However, standing before Raiza now, no longer was a hallucination, it was a spirit that had been testing him this whole time, it and the hallucinations created the penultimate mental test on him, that pushed his physical body beyond it's normal limits."No fears? Right Raiza? I think you've learned a valueable part of yourself today, and learned who truly matters in your life, and who you deeply care for. Good bye Raiza" And... just like that the spirit was gone. The gust of air filled the catacombs, the wall unlocking itself, and the entrence could be seen. Wait... how many hours passed, last he thought it was simply a couple. Had the entire day already passed? Wait, was today actually day six? Was that silly title just for play?

His body staggered up. The dizziness still was set in, and the seed that was in his pocket was grasped by him. "A plant huh, I could use this in my room. Though... I don't think I'm ready to confess my uh... to Thorn, wait... talking to myself again, I really... need to get water and food in me.", Slowly making his way to the door now, the smile on his face as all his wounds have long been healed, but his clothing and bandages he made with tears on his cloak showed how rough his examination was on him. Slowly standing on the bottom stair, he would look up, the cool brisk air of midnight set in.

"Thorn, test is completed? I assume? Did I pass?", his words rang from inside, assuming Thorn would have been waiting on the outside, and have been the one to actually open it on the exact minute that his test was over.
