Dearly Departed

Kite smiled when he saw her tilt her head to the side and started to say he didn’t have to give her his vest but she thanked him and accepted the gesture. He smiled when she did this and felt, happy that she was opening more. It had been only a minute since he gave her his vest and decided that he would have a conversation with her on the way to the cabin. Kite had decided to ask Alex a bit about herself, in particular he asked about her wings. He apologized because he didn’t want to cross any personal boundaries with her but what happened wasn’t expected. He watched as she looked up towards the sky which made him wonder what she was thinking but he saw the edges of her lips move upwards producing a smile and looked at her wings while she gave the answer to Kite’s question. He was interested when he heard her mention that she had them for a long time, since she was a small child which she revealed she saw in snippets of her childhood. Kite took notice of her words and took note of it, her saying snippets and each memory.

Kite thought to himself ”Does… does this mean...that her memory is incomplete?” snapped his attention to Alex when she said that her wings weren’t special and that all she can do is fly with them, she sorta went back and said her wings could possibly do more but she hasn’t discovered it yet. Kite stopped and turned to face her, ” I wouldn’t degrade how special those wings are.” Kite said and put his hands on her shoulders, one thing he wasn’t a fan of was hearing people talk down on themselves. ”Your wings are actually quite special, yeah sure, you can’t cause whirlwinds, or anything like that but those wings are a lovely sight to behold firstly. Also flying in itself is a quite amazing, yeah there are mages who can use their magic to fly but you don’t need to. Flying for you is like walking for me and that is...amazing to me.” he said to her and turned around to keep walking also to hide the discoloration in his cheeks from her.

They soon reached the cabin and entered it only to discover that their friend wasn’t anywhere in sight, and besides a strange smell permeating the room there was nothing out of the ordinary which Alex could also smell. Kite looked around ”Well, then where the hell did Levi go??” and almost on cue the door slammed open and revealed that four of those small undead animals animals made it into the room as well as four ghosts. However that wasn’t the worst part, the worst part was seeing who else was coming through the door behind the animal. Kite didn’t like this, he had an idea but he needed to get Alex outta the way, and he needed to do it now. At this point he felt something happen within his veins, his blood started to pump faster, and his muscles started tense up and he even felt his magic swell inside. He wasn’t aware that his very special lineage activated. He turned to Alex and scooped her up and ran out of the cabin quicker than he could usually run, he put her down and then turned towards the cabin and stood in the doorway with his hands stretched out in front of him ”stay back Alex!… Flame Demon’s Adramelech!” Kite gathered He his white flames into the space between his hands creating a ball about 1 m in size. Kite then spread his arms wider and by doing so the ball of fire grew and launched inside the cabin aimed at Levi which struck and then did it’s primary purpose by exploding upon impact which caught the ghosts and the animals in it. Kite took a deep breath after firing his best move thinking that it was over but that is when Levi, his childhood friend tackled him to the ground Kite was pushing him away but he noticed Levi was trying to bite him. ” Dear god… what happened to you”. For Kite it was a jump from the child he use to know to this monster and Kite was a bit put off from this and didn’t react like he usually would.

After telling her how he thought her wings were quite special Alex responded to Kite with a simple thank you but it was a bit forced but he could sense how legitimate her gratitude was, in fact if he had to guess he would guess that she hadn’t been told something like that in a long time if at all for that matter.

Once they had entered the cabin it didn’t take long for shit to hit the fan, a zombified Levi entered with 4 ghots, and 4 undead animals. Kite knew that they would be out matched in this fight by sheer numbers. Kite thought quickly and then acted quickly and got Alex out and then set off a strong attack inside the cabin which managed to take out all the small fries in the cabin. However Kite had let his guard down and didn’t realize that the undead Levi managed catch Kite off guard by spearing him off the cabin’s steps all the while trying to scratch and bite him. Kite was starting to feel tired, and not to mention that since he was caught off guard he had no real plan at this point but to avoid getting bit by his former friend. He had a hard time believing that this man, was all that was left of his friend from his childhood that also made it hard for him to go for the kill shot. Kite started to think that he did have an out, and that he still could use his demon’s rage to shoot a stream of fire right from his mouth and take out Levi’s head. However before he could give it a chance, Levi threw a punch which connected with Kite’s face and boy did it hurt which Kite almost gave way to Levi’s weight but then something unexpected happened. He felt all of Levi’s weight suddenly vanish, in the blink of an eye no less. Kite almost missed but it was Alex, she out of a pure rage swung her staff into the side of Levi’s face which in turn sent him flying to the side a few feet.

Kite looked and watched as Alex went off on Levi, Kite had seen her composed and somewhat shy during their little adventure and has even seen how graceful she was in combat so what he saw here was mind boggling. She started to yell at the zombified Levi saying how it wasn’t him and so on and so forth, but what was surprising was seeing Alex leap into the air and call forth clouds to form a massive fist and drove it down onto Levi with force. She had landed down on the ground and activated another spell called cloud clone which made a duplicate of herself and then leaped towards him and whipped up a barrier, it was spherical in shape and protected them both from the sound of an explosion.

Kite saw just how exhausted Alex was, she used a lot of magic in a short amount of time and it showed on her face and by her breathing. Kite stood up and rubbed the side of his face that was struck by the zombie. Kite took a few steps over to Alex and with a smile simply said ” Remind me not to piss you off...ever” Kite said to her jokingly. Kite let out a sigh and then crouched down next to her. ” I wonder if you can stand up....I am willing to bet you can’t.” Kite said as he stood and rotated so his back was to her and he crouched down so she could lean forward and rest on him. Kite reached out for her arm and pulled it over his shoulder and which would cause her to lean forward onto him. He would then proceed to reach behind him and pick her up piggy back style. ”I doubt normally you would be the kind of girl to let this slide, but how about you let me help you out this once?” Kite requested but he wasn’t really giving her a choice seeing as she probably didn’t have much energy to fight back herself. ”So tell me where is it I can take you?”
