by Pein was standing outside of the guild. It was rather nice weather for this period of the year. It was not to cold and it was not to hot either. Kinda the way he liked it. he laid off his white mantel that was hanging on his shoulders but that he didn’t put his arms trough. It was stained with blood again. Why did he pick the white color for hi mantle if hes always bloody from a hunt. Now he had to use his hated magic. Well it was handy in this kind of situation tough. He gathered water around his hand and quickly started to soak his mantle in it. he then made the magic disappear. He shuddered from fear. Water was so evil. What his father did to him during his training. How could the man that loved him torture him so much. He quickly pushed the thoughts away as he didn’t want his prey to be spoiled. He dragged a big bundle of leather towards him. in this bundle his already skinned and prepared prey was wrapped up in. it was one of his most rare catches ever since he came to fiore. It looked like a antelope. But this antelope had two tails and wings like bats. They were realy rare and only found in the spooky forest. He had salted the meat so that it didn’t go to waste. He started to wrap the bundle open and took one of the pieces. He plaid it down the fire pit and searched for a good big stick. He chopped the ending in a spear form and punched the meat on it he put it on the fire pit that was already burning. Probably by somebody else but they weren’t hear so they had given there change away. He leaned back on a stone and was waiting for the meat to cook good before he added spices.

 Perched up in a tree outside of the guild she used her magic to fashion a small blade. It glowed with the brilliance of the moonlight and normally would be really blinding in the sunlight, however her hand covered most of the blade by grasping the hilt. Also, the blade cleverly attacked a stick. Precise movements created shavings that fell to the ground softly. She carved at that stick swiftly without any reason until it snapped. She dropped what was left of the stick as well. Her anger building up. Haku, her friend, it was he who angered the young woman. He was so full of his opinions, not interested in what was better for her... She was glad the beast was off sulking somewhere else... It was just a few hours ago they were sitting around a fire talking about the adventures of the day when he spouted off about her being here... He said a guild was no place for them. She instantly spouted that he could not be her only friend... No matter... She had her mask over her face and was wearing her shorts rather than her blue dress.. It was a little too warm for that, as she was more used to the frigidness of the forests. With a heavy sigh she supposed it was time to find Haku and talk to him, perhaps apologize. Sitting up, she spotted movement under the tree. What was this? A man, with long white hair. His appearance was minimal as he faced away from her, but there was no mistake.. on top of his head, there were ears.. animal ears... and by the way they perked she recognized them to be feline like... No... a cat the size of a man? A worthy foe indeed... Suddenly her nose perked, he was cooking... Meat?! Her mouth began to water. The smell was so enticing. She was not able to find good meat around here for a long while. Without even realizing it she lept down from her perch. The bones of her jewelry clanking with a beautiful sound. She landed on her feet and pointed her formed blade at the man. Uttering one word.. " Meat." |

Pein was about to fall asleep when he suddenly heard a noise coming from his side. His cat instincts came in motion and he perked up. he pushed himself up and crawled a bit backwards before looking at the potential threat coming from the person in front of him. it kind of surprised him that it was a girl in front of him. well the smell was girlish and the body looked femine. He couldn’t see her face as a mask was blocking in the way. The girl was a bit smaller then him but not too much. She was holding a knife out towards him. so did she come to kill him. was she one of the minions of the demon that killed his father. He was all thinking and then there was that dog smell. His ears perked up and his tail stiffened. He started hissing like a cat slightly. But then a brick hit him as she said meat.
Pein came a bit back to his senses and looked at the meat and at the girl. Could she be just lost and hungry for food. She did seem like a forest person. Its not like he trusted her of course. But hmm he could have a bit of fun with this. He calmly raised up but without losing his guard or his eye on her. He slowly walked to the meat and picked up a knife from the ground. “wau calm girl calm. I am just gone cut some meat off. good girl just stay there.”, he calmly said a little bit like a boss to his dog. That was him having fun of course. Inside he was having fun to no end. A cat ordering a dog. He slowly cut off a piece and threw it to her. “Here catch girl. Aye now put that knife away. I won’t harm you. My name is pein by the way. What is yours if you do have a name.”, he said calmly as he crouched closer to the ground bending his knees. He took a kind of cat posture on. He pulled his eye lap a little bit better before he looked at her again. His tail was now swaying left to right in curiosity.

The woman grew more tense as his movements mimicked that of a cat. He had even hissed! She could feel a deep grumble building up in her throat, but she decided to keep it quiet. Lani just crouched low, deciding to watch his movements. Was he to surrender his meal like she intended?
The cat-man creature stood and it was like the hairs on the back of her neck stood, because she had seen he was reaching for a blade. It is was a fight he wanted, it will be a fight he will get! Lani make a quick movement to jab, but he spoke and it stopped her.
His voice was soothing, but strong. It reminded her of Haku's voice... Lani kept still and watched with curious eyes. He was cutting the meat. Did he intend to...share?? Arlania was not to familiar with sharing, as in her world it was take or go hungry.
She didn't understand the words he was saying to her as he threw the meat at her. Lani caught the sizzling meal in one hand and in the other, made the blade of light disappear. It would be easy to fashion up another if needed..
With her now other free hand, Lani pushed up her ask so it rested on her head. Revealing her soft face and curious eyes.
The man did say one word she recognized from the other day, and pushed out, " Lani." It wasn't her full name, but more of a easier way to recognize herself.
After that she ate the given meal without hesitation. She was curious as to why he gave a portion to her.. Was it cause he knew she wouldn't fight him if he gave her some? Coward.. She thought, as Lani would protect what was her's to the death. That was the thing about territory and a beast.

Pein looked at the girl as she took the meat and let the blade disappear that she once had. That was intressting. So she was a mage. By the looks of it she was living in a tribe or she was living alone in the forest. Her movement weren’t as a human. she was also more alert as an animal trying to not be attacked. It was similar to the prey he hunted. This was rather particular and interesting even more than before. Tough when she took her mask off he awed for a second as the face was rather unexpectedly not as savage as he thought it would be. A rather cute look. Tough still a bit furious. It seemed she was still not trusting him. well lets get that changed than shall we. Maybe a little game could persuade her. The girl spoke just one word and that was her name. lani, so she could speak tough only answering one question. He would have to find a better way to get information out of her. And that’s where the game came in. a game that his father had played with him when he got trained. Pein cutted off two pieces of meat and looked at the ground. He drew a house on one side and a forest on the other. He laid one piece of meat at each drawing.

 While nawing on her meat silently, she watched his movements. He too moved slight, as if he was trying to avoid an attack. Lani said tense, but felt more relaxed knowing he was not planning on entrapping her. The girl tilted her head, he was drawing pictures on the ground. One was a block shape? And the other was definitely a tree. At the top of each drawing he placed a slice of meat... What was this? a game? if so she would just take both! HaHaHaHa! But instead of moving, Lani scowled at the drawings.... It was an either or.. the forest or the square... a cave? That was a horrible drawing for a cave... wait...he was asking which one she lived in! Lani slightly grinned, but instead of picking up a slice of meat she quickly stood up, unaware is she put the man on guard. Lani spun on one foot and bent over. Because she was wearing shorts, it was impossible to see up them, but she wasn't trying to show him her ass. From between her legs she stared at him and pointed to something. It was the guild logo on the back of her calf. It was white, and in the shape of the Sabertooth Guild Emblem. Lani grinned, this is where she was a part of. That was where she live'd. |

He looked interestingly at her as she was still eating the meat. She was curiously looking at the pictures. So he got her attention. That was a good start. But then she kind of surprised him by her quick movements . for a slight second he was read to leap backwards and defend himself from an attack. But the attack never came as she was spinning on one leg till she stopped and bend over. He was kind of surprised by it and didn’t really know how to react till he saw the guild tattoo. So she was also a member of sabertooth. That was rather convenient. Maybe he could study her for a longer period of time. He was interested in how she hunted. She did seem a able and strong girl. Tough for now he still hadn’t completely won her trust yet. But if he showed his guild tattoo she should be a bit more on her ease. Pein grabbed the color of his shirt and pulled it downwards revealing a white saber tattoo on his pale skin.

Lani grinned brightly as she spun back around and watched the man, she was so proud of herself that she was able to understand what he was asking and he looked pleased with her answer. Arlania watched as he pulled down his shirt to reveal the same logo, even the same color. So he was where she was from! Two in the same! Lani's eyes grew wide, and so did her smile. She remained silent and gazed at the man with awe. He moved closer, and Lani may have tensed, but she didn't back away. He was a few feet from her, but she felt comfortable. He reached out to her, his palm open. She knew what he was going for, but it didn't work that way with her. Actually Lani moved even closer to him, and slowly lifted her hand to reach out to him. Instead of stopping however. She placed her palm on his chest, right where his heart would be. And did the same to herself with her other hand. She leaned in to where they were inches apart. " Friend." She said softly. She remained like that for a few seconds before a sound rustled to her left. Out of the trees and bushes rushed a large wolf. It was white, and by large, I mean LAAARRRRGGGEEEE. his snarling snout only a few meters from the man's face. Lani jumped up, un-surprised by the intrusion, she didn't bring out any weapons... she just placed a hand on the large beast. His growling resonated in her mind. " Arlania, who is this..." His words could not have sounded any more welcoming.... In truth they weren't... Haku, this large wolf, was ready to eat any man that got close to Lani. |

Pein looked at the big smiling girl as she walked closer to him. But instead of smelling the hand she walked closer to him. pein was a bit unsure on what to do. Was she trying to threaten him. but that wouldn’t make sense as they were form the same guild. So he let her do the things she wanted while he remained calm but alert. She came closer and closer till her tiny hand was lying near his hearth. He could feel the warmth of her skin going trough his clothes as she placed her other hand on her own chest. She came closer and then uttered the word friends. Pein was a bit surprised by the turn off events. If she came so close and said she was a friend then he could not feel any suspicion anymore. He actually felt kind of warm. Even the feeling to protect this girl from any harm as they were so close standing to each other. Even if she smelled like a wolf. This peace only lasted a couple of second’s tough As a loud noise came from the side of them. He instinctively was about to push the girl behind him but the biggest wolf he had ever seen was faster then him and was inches away from his face asking who he was. He jumped back a bit from the wolf and a more angry look was coming over his face. He would protect those that are his friends. But the girl was laying a hand on the wolf.
“Get away from my friend you foul beast. Or do you want me to feast on your flesh.”, pein was getting a bit more demonic face as water was already forming around his hands. Nobody was going to lay a hand on his new friend. Escpecialy not a dog kind.

Her brows furrowed and her expression of surprise turned into a teeth bearing scowl. The events were turning so quickly that she was having the hardest time trying to catch up. All she knew was that Haku had come barreling in and in the end, she felt like this was not gonna be pretty. No... This couldn't be happening.. She didn't want to be chased out again. She liked it here and wanted to finally feel normal... Because the truth was, she wasn't normal. a girl, raised in the wild, thinking that a shapeshifter was one of her kind.. Thinking that anything but humans were her kind! Lani just stood in between her friends, one old, and one new. She had to prevent this from turning into a war, and the only way to do that, was to calm down the beast. Arlania turned to face Haku, peering deep into his bright green eyes. She got up close and placed her forehead against the bridge of his snout. This was a ritual of theirs, showing the trust in one another. A growl rumbled through her throat and past her lips...She was speaking to the wolf, " Please Haku... he is different." She said, though only in a way that he could hear her. Unless anyone else in the vicinity spoke dog... " As you wish...", With that, the giant wolf stopped snarling, and sat upright, glaring at the new person. Haku could tell he wasn't quite human... At least not all the way... In return Lani turned to face Pein, she held her palm upwards and motioned to the wolf, " Haku." She said... And then she placed her palm on her chest and one on Haku's, the same sign that she gave to Pein to say that it was alright, that they were one in the same. Friends... |
