    Magus Absque Magia

    AINRID DU'ULHEIM

    SEVENTEEN/EIGHTEEN

    MALE
    PANSEXUAL

    02/29/XX96

    Personality:
    CURIOUS

As with all scholars, Ainrid finds the unknown ever so interesting. If something were to occur, and any relevant information pertaining to it was to be unknown, one would commonly find him obsessively entranced in a pursuit. As is a common philosophy to worldly fulfillment, the fun in obtaining satisfaction is the journey; the Pursuit of Happiness. When in reference to Ainrid, there can be no better term—aside from substituting Happiness for Knowledge, as they are essentially one in the same to him.

Indeed, much of him entertainment comes from discovering the unknown for himself, and while the end result is simply outstanding, he has clearly learned to appreciate the trials taken to get as far as he did. Simply stated, Ainrid is an infophile, and given that, supposedly, one can see a gleam in his eyes upon facing the foreign.

Expanding upon his infophilic characteristics, Ainrid has developed himself to be quite the able informant. With the majority of his time spent on the streets, the boy frequently deals and trades in knowledge, often times as a form of currency even. That in mind, despite his young age and affluent background, Ainrid has placed himself into the position of a relatively trusted source within the dangerous side of the world.

    CALM

Mostly only within the confines of his mind, Ainrid is a difficult girl to shake up, as a calm exterior is most certainly not an aspect of his. As a generality, he isn’t someone to freak out in nearly any situations. Even the most perilous scenarios and extremely stressful situations, he will with nigh-certainty retain his cool and keep, to whatever degree he initially possessed, all his rationality.

Though there are some pressure points of his, an analytical composure is sustained to the utmost. This has been especially noted during a series of his life-endangering events. Even during a state of a tattered body and lack or dulling of his senses, the young scholar has made sure to keep his thoughts and reactions in check. During a time when his mental capacity was challenged, Ainrid had feigned a tough exterior, refusing entry of the psyche by invaders.

This trait has frequently found use in tandem with his 'night-job', in contrast to the performances on the streets and trickery being his 'day-job'. As an informant, others might attempt to influence Ainrid one way or another, even using intimidation as a tactic to obtain free information. While initially an inherit characteristic of his, Ainrid's calm demeanor is a result in part due to real-life experience.

    ASPIRING

Something rather apparent when one becomes acquainted with Ainrid. The boy tries to always reach higher and grasp things beyond him, inherently making him capable of an astonishing rate of growth when the circumstances allow. Whether natural or force, his ambitious side has made him a rather capable learner, being able to catch onto things quickly. This trait goes hand-in-hand with his job as an informant.

In a way, one can consider Ainrid to be a 'big dreamer', bluntly stated. He has a plenty of goals, whether they are small milestones or ones that reach way up high into the realm of the impossible, all of them are sights set before him. For example, his desire to find something which can entertain him, whatever it may be. Despite ranging from small to big, this goal can only be temporarily achieved, and is therefore never-ending. Or another goal of his, the remembrance of his past. While not having as much of a clear path to achievement, thus vaguer milestones, there is a definitive and tangible goal at the end.

In such a case as the provided examples, Ainrid might attempt to grasp both, using them as a catalyst for each other. In search of a his past, there's the possibility of being entertained along the way, and in an attempt to discover something entertaining, a piece of his past might be revealed.

    RESPECT

Ainrid is generally respective to everyone he meets. Whereas other's respect is only earned, a different sort of system is set in place for him. In his eyes, essentially every single person is already given a set amount of respect. Their actions will cause him to lose respect for them, or in a less likely case, gain more respect from him. One's status and/or appearance usually has no bearing on him; as such, if he were to meet a king, they would be treated no different than a girl from a brothel.

Naturally, there are some exceptions to this standard, and sometimes someone's position or appearance does have an effect on him, hence the aforementioned "usually". Afterall, if someone walks into a pub with a sign hanging on their neck saying "I will break you if you come within a metre of me", Ainrid, or anyone else for that matter, isn't going to find any benefit in interacting with such a person. But, in terms of giving someone a different level of respect upon first meet, usually this is done by relation to another person. For example, if he has a good friend, and he meets that good friend's brother, naturally he would having the expectation of the brother to be someone he could get along with, and therefore offers a bit more respect than usual. In contrast, if his hated nemesis's mentor comes along, Ainrid isn't going to get all friendly with him/her.

    PHILOSOPHICAL

Ainrid has the occasional “what is life” rant. With his high level of intellect, it’s understandable that he might have some level of explanation for things not defined by natural laws of logic and the like. Now, this isn't to say he will always throw out a piece of perspective that invokes a lot of thought, as he frequently takes the more casual, simple approach to things; but there still comes the occasion that the boy might just spew out something heart-felt and deep. Especially when trying to prove a point, explain his point-of-view or try to get others to understand something. Even justifying something can lead to some philosophy of his, or a concept he can agree with.

    CYNICAL

While not as a whole, Ainrid usually jumps to a negative conclusion when judging people. While he will someone the benefit of the doubt, he would more easily believe someone to have darker motives over being good-hearted. In his sheltered life amongst nobility, assessing someone could not be done through actions alone, as quite a lot of people had always worn a mask over their faces. As a result, Ainrid developed the skill to 'read' people, though much of the information extracted from these readings were only speculation and assumptions.

A bit of legitimate deduction is used in accordance with their background, circumstances, appearance and actions, but without knowing someone on a personal level much of this information is relatively superficial, and privy to interpretation. This is where Ainrid's cynical characteristic comes in. What seems to be a preferred interpretation of information he comes across is things of the more negative spectrum.

    Likes:

    CHALLENGES

Being challenged is an enjoyable thing for Ainrid, whether by another or by himself. As with most intellectuals, a challenge is one of the few things that could actually provide some substance in entertainment; and given his obsession over his past and occupying himself, he finds sort of dependence on challenges to keep him going throughout the days. Otherwise, the empty feeling he frequently gets in his chest expands.

    THE UNPREDICTABLE

If there's one thing Ainrid likes in a person, it's their uniqueness. If their actions, thoughts, feelings, or whatever they may possess are predictable, there's little fun to be had. After all, what's the fun in a surprise if you already know what it is? Not to say that Ainrid dislikes the predictable, but if there was any preference to be had, predictable wouldn't be his first choice.

    INTELLIGENCE

Something more of an aspect he likes in people, Ainrid revels in intellect, whether it be his own or another's. The easiest way to earn his respect—even if one might have his hatred alike—is through smarts. There are a plethora of completely valid reasons for the desirable trait of intelligence, such as being able to hold a proper conversation and comprehend some points being stated; after all, a conversation with someone who speaks an entirely different language, isn't much of a conversation at all.

    Dislikes:

    STUPIDITY

In his eyes, "Stupidity is a contagion that should be extinguished." Rather bluntly stated, Ainrid holds a bit of prejudice for those with fewer IQ points than average, and for rather justified reasons. Though not a belief religiously stuck to, Ainrid sees stupid people to be one of the larger reasons as to why a lot of nasty stuff happens in the world. Unfortunately, his standard of "average intelligence" is a bit higher than the norm.

    INVOLVEMENT

Ainrid hates being involved in things—directly, at least. His profession is an "informant", and as such, he prefers to stay in the loop of things, but not in the action. While he might contribute to occurrences, he'd rather stay out of the occurrence itself. Simply being a 'background character' in a story-line is satisfying enough for him.

    RASHNESS

The young 'informant' isn't necessarily one to be called 'rational', but it isn't as if his actions are without thought. That in mind, it's—to an extent—understandable why he might think rash action is an undesirable trait in a person. While his very own actions might lack a degree of logic every now and then, at the very least a plan proceeded his execution.

    Motivations:

    THE PAST

As aforementioned, one of the things Ainrid strives for is the remembrance of his past. While he is not a total amnesiac, there are seemingly important bits and pieces of memories from his mind that are lacking, and given his curiosity, it's become a hard thing to live without wondering just what those memories could have held.

    ENTERTAINMENT

Frequently mentioned, Ainrid is constantly on the chase for essentially anything that could attract his attention and keep his busy mind occupied. Living on a day-to-day basis as opposed to having a plan for his life set out, the boy can't help but strive for something even materialistic, so long as it could satiate him—even if only temporary.

    INFORMATION

The final motivation of essentially anything Ainrid does is information, but the underlying cause to him urging to grasp 'information' is, in actuality, truth. A large portion of his past—or what remains of it—was consumed by lies; whether by his own family, or the surrounding peoples. This has resulted in his leave of the estate grounds and a journey to find the truth about anything, essentially. Perhaps then, he will find bliss. Or maybe just himself?

    Fears:

    CLOSURE

In the end, Ainrid is fearful of facing "closure". Despite all the things he yearns for, within, he's scared of the end-result. An unsettling feeling arises in his chest from simply thinking about it. After attaining what he desires, what then? What path lies before him next? For what should he live fore thereafter? If he were to discover his past, what future would there be left for him? All these questions arise, and in the end, even if he is unaware of it, the boy would stay wary of progress.

    STOPPING

Contradicting his fear of moving forward, Ainrid would hate to simply "stop"; or rather, he fears the idea of being unable to reach closure. The inability to find the truth, be entertained, or discover the past truly scares him. It's one thing to choose not to do something; it's an entirely different matter to be prevented from doing something.

    KILLING

Ainrid certainly has a unique perspective on things, even if his point of view might be shared with qutie a few. But, a part of his plethora of quirks is trying to see things in a different perspective, and to understand something or someone. This innate impulse of his has inherently allowed him to sympathise with another being and their will to live, and as a result, the thought of ending someone's life becomes an incomprehensible thought. For his own life to be stopped short, that in itself is quite the frightful concept as it is.

    General Appearance

    Height: 5'7ft / 170cm
    Weight: 121lbs / 55kg
Hair: White; wavy bangs, lengthy, unkempt
    Eyes: Cyan
    Skin Tone: Unhealthily Pale
    Appearance:

Ainrid holds a round face with few accents on bone-structure. His wide round eyes pairs well with his voluminous hair, and the contrast of his bright eyes against his pale skin and white hair 'pops out'. He frequents a black tank-top, with a low-trapezoid cut shirt that matches his eyes, worn under a grey jacket with a symbol-design placed in the middle. Normally, Ainrid wears a simple pair of black pants and low fitting boots.

The bulkiness of his clothes and the multiple layers he wears draws attention away from Ainrid's true body shape. While seemingly proportional, he is in fact a tier below 'slim', sometimes referred to as "bony" or simply "skinny". His pale skin tone only adds to this overall effect, making his muscle tone more difficult to discern. Fortunately, his head is slightly smaller than the norm, fortunately making him seem not so 'unbalanced', as some might say.
