    History/Story
    History:

Aegiel Clover was born among the Clans. Specifically, the Walker Clan. They were nomads, gypsies, traders and world travelers. Bound by magic, not blood, they would find unwanted, gifted children and train them in the use of Walking magic. Aegiel was one such child. Born in the slums if Clover Town, he lived with his mother for seven years before she passed away, starved to death. Aegiel survived on his own through an ample mixture of begging and stealing, neither of which he was very good at. Sometime during this period of Aegiel's life he found Meep, caught in the spokes of a wagon and bleeding to death. Aegiel nursed her to health out of pity, and in return the tiny white snake would befriend him for life. After a year of what Aegiel would later view as the lowest part of his existence, he was discovered by the traveling Walker Clan, who felt within him the potential to be someone. Someone more than a scraggly orphan scrapping the streets of Clover for... You get the picture. And from that moment on, his life took a drastic turn for the better.

He learned how to tell fake gems from real ones, new leather from old, and even how wealthy someone was just be breathing in the scent around them. He learned figures, how to drive a wagonload of melons without having them roll out the back, and most importantly, he learned magic. And friendship and love and whatnot, but that was all secondary. Aegiel lived and breathed magic, as the Walker Clan was a clan of mages. Waterwalkers, Ragewalkers, Sunwalkers, Cloudwalkers, Spiritwalkers- they were all there, and more. All unique, and all powerful in their own right. Aegiel, as the newest Walker, was taught by none other than the Clan Head himself, whom Aegiel began to regard as his father. The Headman's wife hated the boy with a passion, for reasons Aegiel would not find out until much later in life. On his sixteenth birthday, Aegiel had been officially recognized as a Fatewalker and was formally welcomed into the Clan as one of their own. That night was one of revelry and celebration, as the Clan gathered to toast to their spirit ancestors and give thanks for delivering unto them their newest son. Aegiel laughed and drank (grape juice) with the rest of his family, but the Fates are fickle beings, and Aegiel's luck soon took a turn for the worse.

The day after the celebration, Aegiel awoke to find snakes crawling in his bed sheets. Bit multiple times on his neck and chest, he would have died if it wasn't for Meep, who chased away the hostile serpents and alerted the Headman to Aegiel's plight. He lay in bed for three days and three nights, dreaming dreams of fire and thorns that rose to consume him just before he awoke. His recovery was swift, but the Fatewalker's troubles were far from over. Not long after he ghosted out of his pillow-ridden prison, he encountered a boy with  violet eyes and a vicious temper, but Aegiel saw something in him he'd never seen before. They became fast friends, though Aegiel was, for some reason, never able to acquire the boy's name. On the eve of Aegiel's seventeenth birthday, the boy confessed to Aegiel that he wanted to be more than just friends, and offered the green-haired mage his love. At this, the Fatewalker was shocked. Though that was nothing compared to the shock he felt when he actually accepted the offer. That was the moment Aegiel discovered that he was gay, and he couldn't of been happier.

Until. His seventeenth birthday, Clan gathering round  to celebrate, he told his family about the violet-eyed boy and himself. They were surprised, to be sure, but none more than the Headman's wife, who had known all along. She was the Clan's Spritwalker, and knew things about others that they seldom understood about themselves. And she hated Aegiel for it. Upon hearing his confession, her hatred overwhelmed her, and she warned Aegiel that should he continue on his path, his own magic would turn against him, bringing ill fortune to him and those around him. She sealed this with her own magic before the rest of the gathering could stop her, burning a scar onto Aegiel's wrist to remind him of her sentence for as long as he lived. Aegiel was devastated, and escaped to the one person whom he was sure would never betray him; the boy who had captured his heart with his sincerity and confessions, who had supported him for the last year of his life. The very same boy shoved Aegiel away. It might have been fear of the curse that did it, or even a desire to be rid of the baggage Aegiel carried, but the result was the same. Aegiel's luck, it seemed, had run out.

Surprisingly enough, it was the Headman who set the boy back on his own two feet, unable to abandon the boy he rescued from starvation not even a decade ago. He convinced Aegiel to carve out a life for himself among the Guilds, to start afresh and not look back. The day the Headman watched his adoptive son leave, he offered Aegiel advice and a measure of comfort. Three things Aegiel was told, and he remembers them to this day.
    1. Live freely, without burden, and encourage others to do the same.
    2. Be patient, and trust will be earned.
    3. Do not fear love. The curse will be broken when you have mastered a magic that is all your own, providing are able to let go of the past.
And with that, he was gone. The chapter of Aegiel's life ended when he arrived at Hargeon, his boundless future stretched out before him. A blank page was waiting to be written, and Aegiel was ready. *Cue dramatic ending theme song*

    *Annual Guildmasters Meeting, Intro Post*

Aegiel choked on his punch, eyes bulging. Was that... Guildmaster Zuo? The sight of the frail old man rocketing out of the ground was so unexpected that he had to fight to keep from bursting out in laughter. A loud snort escaped him, and he peered out from under his shades nervously. The last thing he wanted to do was attract attention at a meeting as large as this. A shudder coursed down Aegiel's spine. If he wasn't so paranoid about missing out on the guilds' latest news, he wouldn't be here in the first place.

He surveyed the pushing, shoving, elbowing, and overall dangerous mass of humanity spread out before him. The fact that they were all wizards only made it worse, and his ears were practically ringing from the magical buzz saturating the hall. His faithful companion, Meep, slithered her way woozily onto his neck, where she hovered unsteadily. "You okay, Meep?"  She was probably overwhelmed by the high-strung emotions in this place. Aegiel would have left her at his apartment, but she had insisted she come with. At least, that's what Aegiel told himself. He sighed, then returned to scanning the crowds for a familiar face. After a minute, he spotted the man who had introduced him to a few of his fellow guild members. "Kihia...wasn't it?"  he mumbled to himself, reaching up to stroke Meep's tiny head.

    His hand met only air.

Aegiel did what he always did when something happened to his patient, reasonable, serpentine friend: He panicked. "MEEEP!"  he cried, getting down on his knees and praying that she didn't get stepped on by an over-dressed wizard in spiky heels. His voice was overwhelmed by the crowd, and Aegiel fought the urge to cry. It was hopeless; he was alone. He doubted anyone could hear him anyway. He continued his search, weaving through oblivious wizards' legs in his search for the tiny white viper.

A Clan and its Boy Empty Re: A Clan and its Boy

Post by Aegiel 10th June 2014, 9:18 am

A boy sits in his empty apartment, fingers tapping a wooden desk. Rain drums against the apartment's one window, lulling the boy to sleep. As his head droops forward, his eyes begin to close, and images flicker beneath his closed lids...

His first day at Lamia Scale. Laughter everywhere, voices blending together in a melting pot of humor and good cheer.

A man with blond hair and cold aura passionately defending his guild mates from harm.

One cloaked in black, with a pure heart and two faces. The first to plant the seeds of life, the second to rot them.

A boy with sewing needles and haunting violet eyes, dredging up past memories best left untouched.

A fair-skinned beauty screaming "Octopoos!" while the rest of the guild just laughed, illuminating her way toy a brighter, happier place.

A cowardly mage who leaned heavily on his guild mates that gladly support him no matter the cost to themselves.

Meep's white-haired savior, carving a niche in Aegiel's friendless heart that was wholly unexpected and entirely welcome.

And lastly, a craggy old geezer with the mental fortitude of a mountain and a spirit as unbreakable as the rock he played with.

The boy slept, and a smile crept onto his youthful face. He was living his dreams, and loving every moment of it.
