”Phew….” Hika breathed out and crossed her arms in front of her chest as she closed her eyes slowly and drifted off into deep slumber on a branch of a tree. Sleeping is like the only thing she does whenever she’s got nothing to do, apart from lurking around and eating plenty of food.

    -Later-

”Hahaha….Chocolates….” Hika giggled in her sleep and flailed her arms beside her just as she fell off the branch and landed hard on her face. Struggling to stand up back on her feet, she cursed in frustration, ”Buggering hell. ARGH!” She rubbed her forehead and egotistically flipped her silver hair behind her shoulder and minced down the streets. Surely, it is a lovely day. Her lips curved into a smile, the wind gently bloating out her hair. Hika walked towards an ice-cream stall, her pale finger hovering above the various flavors as she finally decided to buy the chocolate flavored ice-cream.

The streets were very crowded with shopkeepers and Hika didn’t like that since small, cramped areas make her feel suffocating. Squishing herself through the crowd, she licked the chocolate, tasting the sweetness of it on her tongue. Just from the corner of her eyes, she caught sight of a bench. Her eyes flicked here and there to see if anyone was going to take a seat. Rapidly, she scuttled towards the bench, plopped down on it and crossed her legs in a lady-like manner. Hika swung her leg rhythmically as she gobbled up her ice-cream and wondered about what she would do for the rest of the day.

A merchant lowers his tent with a dissatisfied grunt, his eyes crinkling to the shadows that form over his barely touched crate of vegetables. He bends over his merchandise as he reaches for his old tattered coat sitting on his chair, murmuring incoherently about sales and sunsets. The coat hangs dead against the old bones in his shoulders, cold and limp like the chill of night fast approaching. He turned around to face the slowly dimming horizon with the age in his eyes steady, focused atop the hills that drape over the sun like curtains.  Out from the corner of his eyes he caught a glimpse of a few of his fellowmen scurrying to their houses in fright. And yet there he was -a lonely soldier who just wanted to glorify the sunset as it passed. A low whistle floats from his mouth as the merchant fingered his beard, sauntering over to his cart.

The old man had some sort of passion for grunting, making himself serious without reason. His grandchildren didn't call him 'Grandpa grumps' for nothing, and although he found this adorable, he couldn't help but agree. "...Damn mages an' their shenanigans." he mumbles, gruff and irritated.

The decline in customers caused by the deficit of their sense of safety had earned his business mates a certain kind of despair, the one that involved rotting produce and empty pockets. But the old man had something deeper than a stall-man's grief, he held the weight of a heart born in Oak town, the blood of his mother and father who had loved this place as much as he does now. Fire was a dangerous thing to toy around with, this he'd tell the youngsters over and over again. If the place would perish under the flames of a brain gone coo-coo, so would his old soul. "Those two better be 'ere before I ge' a knee-lock from all tha' walkin'..." the old man kicks a stone with his boot, letting it fly a few blocks after him, "....I ain't going to tolerate them if they com' 'ere late."

He wasn't quite sure on his tree of wisdom, but he was very certain that punctuality played a grand role in chances and opportunities. Perhaps it was embedded into the parts of his brain, which could explain his unusual early schedules -not that the old folk would admit he likes fishing when no one is there to steal all the prizes from him. The clock hands on his watch faintly tick away with defective accuracy, his brows furrowed at the busted horde of bolts. He vents out the anger with a violent tapping exercise on the glass of his wristwatch, "Blasted...!"

    Blasted, indeed.

The man flies up against his coat, twisted on the ground beneath as a mild explosion made his weak legs give into a first taste in flight, not that he wanted one however. He spat out the dirt in his mouth with a series of throaty wheezes, his pupils enlarging with the pulsating motion of his veins. Could it be....?

    "...Wha' in the worl' is-?!"

A blue circle fades, spirals and intricate little patterns flowing like dust, carried off by the breeze. In his previous stead was a flock of spiky white fluffs and bright, bright pink. Hope was a funny thing, and so was his ol' buddy time, and he couldn't help but wonder if his watch stopped to tell of something. It truly, was 'time'.

A dearly familiar grin crosses a fraction of a meter, settling warmth into the old man's hopeful eyes-
"Hello again, mister Grumps! Have you seen Hikari by any chance?"
