Well, this was a first, Artemis was surprised when he got the call. Stating he had to return and assist in the protection of one of the Dagger Corp. Headquarters, and not just any of them, one of the main offices in Era of all places. His family didn't often reach out to him for assistance, was there some alternate reasoning behind this. They knew full well that he had no affiliation to Black Rose anymore, maybe they figured seeing as he wasn't busy with Guild work these days that they would make use of him. He was, after all, one of the faces of the company, even if it was just as the Owners oldest Grandson.

Artemis arrived in the centre of Era; he could see the office building in the distance. He wondered if the others had got his message, he had contacted two people to join him. The first being his younger brother Apollo, mainly trying to figure out what it was that the family were summoning him for exactly and if he was to be there too. He had left a message to explain where to find him if he couldn't get back to him beforehand. The second individual he had contacted was a relatively new acquaintance. Someone he knew had done a job for Dagger Corp. but didn't work directly under them. Artemis didn't have anyone he could call for back up, and the guy had saved his life. With the promise of the pretty pay package, he hoped the guy would show up.

As he approached the large corporate building that was Dagger Corp, Artemis spotted the matter at hand. His sharp demonic eyes capturing it's details before he even got close. Situated at the entrance was a portal of sorts, glistening a mirage of red, green and icy blue. Around it several Dagger Corp. employers surrounded the portal, pointing various As he got closer, Artemis stepped up to one of the employees he recognised, Francis Laine, a member of the board that worked directly under his father. "What's the situation?" He asked, not bothering with a greeting. Mr Laine glanced up at Artemis; he didn't seem surprised to see the Dagger heir. "Mr Dagger, Sir, The portal appeared about an hour ago. Several creatures have already emerged from it and attacked some of the employees. They are ... curious in nature." Art scowled, a question coming to mind. "Don't we have a system that would normally handle these things?" He asked giving the boardmember a meaninful look, he was sure Mr Laine would know full well what he was hinting at. Mr Laine shook his head. "There have been some complications at our Crocus branch. They are tied up there with your father." He explained, Artemis nodded. This didn't really seem like the type of work expected of the Dagger Corp. employees, most of them were paper-pushers after all. This was likely why he had been called.

"Fine, just make sure the employees stay back," He said sternly, Artemis's normal playful nature had gone. This was a serious matter, he didn't like getting involved in family matters, but here he had no choice. He had to do his part, especially because he knew he couldn't hide the result from them. They had a direct view of his today. He stalked towards the portal, seeing its edges ripples, it began to stir, and suddenly creatures began to pour out of it.

Ren would have been in Era already, this was nothing unusual given that many of his after school lessons were done all over the city, if that wasn't bad enough he was still expected to go to the office for a few hours to do work there. It would be hard to believe that the young red head was only fifteen years old with everything he had to do on a daily basis, he was envious of others his age whom only had to deal with basic educations. Even his apparent 'friends' didn't have as much pressure as he seemed to have, they done their lessons and a few after school activities to make them look like good people in the hopes to get into a better collage or university. He himself didn't have that issue more so as he had been in one of the most prestigious universities in Earthland for the the last four years, he guessed this was what happened when you seemed to be good at everything naturally and it was nurtured not only in schools for the gifted but personal tutors where brought in for when you were at home. He knew that many families had offered their daughters for him but each had been turned down for one reason or another, boy was he glad that his mother was fussy on the brides that would enter the family. Many of his potential suitors had seemed sweet as sugar out in the open but behind closed doors they were anything but, it shook him to the core when he seen one berate and belittle her handmaid believing no one could see. It still made him shudder to think on it.

Still it seemed with the tight leash and routine his parents kept him on he had no room to be a normal teenager like others of the same standing or lower could be, this made him wish he could just run away from it all but he knew his family had unlimited resources and he would be found making that already short leash shorter. He had however been able to squirm his way out of his additional lessons for the day given how close it was to the Christmas season and that his university had closed for a few weeks to allow students to have time with their families free of pressure saying that he had to get presents and ready for the constant Christmas parties and balls that would happen during the season. This meant that instead of going all around the city for lessons he went to three tailors for different kinds of suits and shops for gifts not only for his family but the several families he would be forced to attend parties and balls of thanks to being a family trophy or at least that's how the youth felt. He had to wonder if he spoke to his parents if this would make things better or worse and again the thought of running entered his mind. As he moved out of the seventh or eighth shop of the day he looked to his butler who brought out his ilac and handed it to him "Young sir, I believe that this communication is for you." he said calmly allowing Ren to take it "You really should gain one of these for yourself, with your profession it would stand to reason you would have one to keep in touch with your family as well as the company." he continued, he couldn't help but roll his eyes already hearing the lecture machine gearing up "I have one but it is the companies and I never get enough time to go gain one for myself, so you get me the time lynus and I will go gain one." he said with a huff making the taller male smile "Very well, I will make the arrangements as requested." he said walking as Ren did.

Ren had been caught off guard when Lynus said he would make the arrangements for him to gain a personal ilac, as when he said that kind of thing he really was going to make it happen. He honestly hoped Lynus would be able to as he would enjoy having a conversation with his brother more than once in a blue moon, and for Artemis not to be in trouble when those conversations where happening like what had went on recently with Black Rose. Reading the message he deleted it instantly and handed it back to the true owner "Lynus I have to go back to the company right now, seems Artemis is there." he said making the elder male quirk an eyebrow in suspicion as Artemis was known as the problem child of the family and the reason why so much pressure was placed on his wards shoulders. "I want you to go get the perfume my mother likes, it is limited this time of year and for the last several years it has always been sold out by the time one of us try to go get it. This seems like an emergency... please..." he pleaded with the other whom seemed less than happy about the request or the goings on "I will inform your father of our separation later however and why." this was something Ren knew was non negotiable and would be willing to take the punishment if any when it came so nodded heading for the nearby the Dagger Corp HQ.

After fifteen minutes of running he managed to get to the building a little out of breath but stopped that as he seen the strange seal and quirked an eyebrow "What in hell's name..." was all that he could say seeing photo negative elves, polar bears and wandering Christmas trees before he spotted the one who sent him the message to get to the company as soon as he could "Artemis... please tell me this is something the company is doing just for seasonal spirit and not something more sinister." he asked the elder of the two wondering what the hell he was waiting for if this was indeed something bad. Then again he knew his older brother tried to keep out of the company hassles but on this occasion this wasn't something that either of them could do as it would have been caught on camera that they had both been there "I finally get a day off and things get weird, knew it was to good to be true." he sighed feeling like hell froze over and this is why everything had went topsy turvy.

    Damien

The assassin gave a deep seated sign as he turned into an alleyway, fading into darkness. It seemed, this was the perfect time to have came to Era on a job. Something was going on in the background, the Rune Knights were deployed elsewhere, and his target had been far to easy pickings. The elderly man was a well known philanthropist and flirt, but it seemed he had messed with the wrong families daughter, a family with enough resources and anger to higher the assassin to deal with the problem. Any other time of year, any other day, and the man would have had a much harder escape, and a much more difficult job. With a smirk the assassin pulled off his mask and allowed his face to take on its normal appearance, his hair returned to its light white, and his eyes to their florescent lavender. With a slight chuckle he returned to the street and walked among the other citizens all of whom were none the wiser.

As he walked the white haired male decided to stop in a local coffee shop, and ordered himself a drink, giving the female barista a nod and wink as he went to sit alone in the far corner of the small shop. Taking a drink of his coffee Deleronark pulled out his iLac, and entered its secret secondary combination. The one which opened his work operating system and connected to his personal contacts. Glancing through the contracts he saw nothing of interest, a local gang here, a noble lady there, a demon possessed cat, that one he marked as to read later.

Suddenly however, the screen turned red for a brief second as a priority message came through. Deleronark did not hesitate to open it, only two people had that particular line, and both of them the assassin actually like. However, even more importantly they both paid very well.

The white haired youth raised an inquisitive eyebrow and smiled slightly as he red the message. Artemis Dagger certainly knew how to speak his language. However there was a slight problem, he knew immediately that this job would require more subtlety, coercion, and skill than many of his other jobs. After all, having just assassinated a well know business man, a masked assassin could not show up suddenly at Dagger Corporation, especially one that had used his services in the past. That would not be professional in the slightest, and with his knowledge of the ruthlessness of the Dagger Family Deleronark knew it was  a good way to end up with a knife in his back once they clean up.

Deleronark sighed, that meant he would have to go as is, and pretend to hide his true allegiance, and identity. Artemis Dagger was the only Dagger to know his name, and his assassin identity, and the white haired youth was determined to keep it that way. Opening up the secure messaging service Deleronark wrote his response.

‘Sure, I’ll help you move. There is no need to pay, you’ll just owe me one later!’ ~ Damien. The message was written to overrule security measures and seem to all systems as a traditional youthful ‘text message’, not that Deleronark really had any idea how to be a ‘traditional’ young adult.

Deleronark knew the other man was smart, and only hoped he catches on quickly. The assassin would hate to have to clean up the operation. He was really starting to like the other mage. Their time together was certainly  quite different than any other job he had done before, and he certainly did not trust his odds against the Dagger Family.

Standing suddenly the white haired youth placed a hefty tip on the table before walking out the diner. Taking a turn through a sudden alley he reached into his own mind and once more found the vampiric soul within. Activating the takeover he burst forward in a sudden surge of speed and power, moving far faster for most to see.

The run to Dagger Corp. Era Headquarters was quite quick with his current speed. The white haired male stopped just short of the grounds, and took in the situation. Everything was in chaos, he could see security personnel, regular workers, and various other people milling about, some running others watching, and others still trying to direct traffic. The general populous of Era was starting to gather to see the commotion, and form into a small crowd. As for what was causing the mess, the assassin could only describe it as a poorly made Fan made Christmas move on the Lacrima Net. He could see.. Trees, walking, and strangely colored humanoids with pointy ears, even a white beast walking on four legs in the distance.

Signing Deleronark shook his head, Artemis was going to certainly owe him for this one. As he studied the scene the white haired youth finally saw his red haired.. acquaintance? Friend? It was hard to classify. Standing nearby was another red haired male, quite a bit younger Deleronark assumed it was the younger brother, he knew nothing about the youth other than what was publicly available, and as such dismissed the idea of revealing him and Artemis’ connections. Artemis would have to, hopefully, play along.

With a breath he surged forward once more, jumping in the air in order to clear one of the strange white creatures. He was certain to take no chances and gave himself plenty of birth before stopping next to the two red haired males. When he spoke it was in a comical tone, as if speaking to a friend.

“Artemis, I thought you said we would be moving furniture? And here I though we would share a drink tonight…” He spoke nothing like he did when the two first met, but his eyes told a different story, he only hoped the red haired man caught on. Then he turned to face the other male, and held out his hand. His tone was respectful, and light but charismatic.

“Hello, you must be… Apollo? I am Damian, a friend of Artemis.” He said, before either of the two had a chance to talk. He wanted to make sure his ‘name’ was known before a slip up occurred. He knew, even if the younger male knew about the Black Rose debacle there would be nothing tying the white haired man to the situation. After all, the Assassin had brown hair and eyes, wore a mask, and had an entirely different magical signature and scent than himself.

As Artemis moved closer to the portal, his red eyes would eye incautiously; he could feel a strange, unfamiliar magic emanating from it. One thing was certain, Artemis had never encountered a force such a this, even with all the various monsters he had encountered, none of them carried this kind of signature. So to know what to expect was impossible. He watched as what emerged from the portal first was a vast group of tiny humans, Christmas elves from what Artemis could presume. Looking at them felt strange on the eyes, the looked somewhat like a negative image, armed with candy canes and snowballs. His eyebrow cocked upwards, Seriously... He thought, baffled at the sight of such ridiculous looking creatures. This is the threat to Dagger Corp. He continued to observe, as the creatures began to engage with the others around them. He watched, they weren't especially dangerous, but they were a pain to deal with.  If their numbers got too high, they could be a real problem. Following the boisterous elves quickly were four much bigger white polar bears. These beasts, Artemis could tell, were a little bit more reasonable of a threat. Attached to his belt was a small hatchet sized axe, Artemis unhooked it, spinning it in his palm. The hatchet, otherwise known as Red Dwarf, would expand to its full size. Approximately a metre in length, with deadly sharp blades on each side of the red ruby stone in the middle that gave off its own magical aura. Artemis lowered the weapon to his side, gripping the handle tightly, ready to throw when he needed to. His eyes returned to the portal as from it, the most bizarre creature entered the area, emerging from it a giant walking tree, "What the-" He muttered, utterly shocked at the sight of this newest beast. He could help but wonder, what kind of Christmas freakshow was this?

He caught a familiar scent and looked around. Spotting his younger brother making his way over to him briskly. He heard his brothers word and shook his head. Oh boy, that would be nice,  "Sorry to disappoint bro, but whatever this shit is, the company didn't authorise it." He said looking back at the portal once more, he sighed, this was some weird shit indeed. How could creatures like this cause so much havoc for the company? It seemed highly farfetched for them to have to be dealing with this. Within the next moment, Deleronark appeared amongst them. This time with white-hair rather than brown, Artemis had encountered the mage, regardless through Artemis knew it was him. Artemis offered the guy a nod; he heard the guy talk about moving furniture and having a drink. It was clear the guy was using a facade of sorts, Art arched a brow at him, smirking slightly. "Not sure if we're gonna get round to it tonight dude, looks like we got to crap to clear up here." He said with a nod towards the strange creatures. He watched as Deleronark, proceeded to introduce himself as Damien to Ren. That was curious, but he didn't question it. Whether this was just another one of his names, nicknames or alias to hide his true identity, it didn't matter. He knew the guy was secretive, and for good reasons. He would just have to remember to use that name, on this occasion.

He could see the monsters looming slowly closer, spreading out towards any observing civilians in the area. "Looks like chit chats over lads, let's get this over with." He said in a droll tone, clearly none too happy with this task. He began walking away from the two; he spun his axe in his hand before launching it into the air. The axe soared across the plain, slicing its way through three elves that were scuttling their way in his direction. If the elves didn't look so creepy, he might have felt bad about killing the small humanoid creatures. But they were a pest and part of the reason he'd been dragged here in the first place. He left the other elves to the guys before moving towards a polar bear that had began to run towards the woman he recognised as a receptionist for Dagger Corp. She screamed trying to back away from the volatile beast. Artemis raised his palm, summoning several pearls of darkness. The spread around him for a moment, before shooting out, striking the polar bear from several angles. The beast roared in a feral rage, turning it's furious gaze to Artemis. It began to bound towards him, forgetting about the Receptionist that had initially been its primary target. With this beast, Artemis could understand why they needed to be handled; these monsters genuinely seemed a little menacing. Red Dwarf whizzed through the air towards him. He caught it, before launching it straight towards the polar bear. The creature attempted to move out of the way, only to have the axe embed itself in its shoulder. The beast roared, craning its neck as it tried to reach for the axe with its maw, only pushing its blade deeper into its flesh. Artemis opened up a void in his palms, from which long black thorny tendrils would pool out, making their way towards the polar bear. Wrapping themselves around the beast and squeezing it tightly, so it was unable to move. The creature thrashed against it's binding, Artemis's axe being forced even deeper into the wound.

Artemis closed the distance between himself and the beast, pulling forward Morte's magic, he would allow it to change his hands. The skin of his hands and arms were slowly turning black, the muscles on his arms growing thicker in mass. His fingernail's transforming into thick long black talons. As he stepped before the polar bear, Artemis reached over and grabbed the beast by the back of the neck, pinning it to the ground with his powerful demonic claw. Reaching for Red Dwarf, he grabbed at the handed, yanking it out of the creature sharply, ripping through his out thorny binds. Still holding the Polar bears head in place, Artemis would raise the axe up before bringing it's crashing down through the back of the polar bear's neck, slicing through flesh, bone and ligament. The polar bear stopped moving against his grip, falling dead still. Artemis would let go, yanked the axe out, he didn't need to check, he knew the creature was dead. He turned and began to walk towards the next polar bear, his serious expression fully prepared to do it all again.

Ren looked to his elder brother for a moment as he spoke about that this hadn't been something that the company had put together, of course it wasn't that would be far to easy now wouldn't it. His hand went to his head and ran his fingers through his red hair in frustration, as if his normal life wasn't stressful enough now he had to put up with this as well, just his damn luck. His train of thought however was broken as he felt the temperature fall suddenly, with a quick blink he seen it had started to snow slightly and groaned he already heard the lecture he was gonna get off Lynus given he was just wearing a blazer. "Great... just great..." he complained silently to himself though even that was short lived as he seen things come out of the portals. He swore he heard Christmas music and carols come from them but something seemed off, they didn't seem happy and joy filled in fact they seemed quite the opposite they were hate filled and distorted the words he could actually make out actually disturbed the youth as it wasn't something he would expect from anyone let alone beings that are meant to be the symbols of the holiday celebrations.

It was then he heard something else, well he heard someone else and so turned to see the elder white haired male and blinked as he took in every small detail of the other. To him things seemed a little off right from the get go he wanted to remain quiet but given the last board meeting there was little chance of that going to happen again any time soon. For a moment his crystal blue eyes met his brother, who would know better than to play him for a fool, he was taught how to know things where wrong not just by their parents, grandfather and Lynus but his older siblings. Artemis of all people would know that he didn't like being played for an idiot. After a moment he made eye contact with the other male "Nice to meet you, Damien was it?" he said calmly but it was clear he wasn't in a good mood with the goings on in general and this wasn't helping and so took a deep breath but took no action to shake the others hand "Please don't treat me like an idiot it's the best way to get on my bad side and you do not want to be there." his tone showed that he wasn't joking on this "I know you are more than likely an associate of my elder brother if not my family in general..." he began his eyes closing for a moment, he was close to his brother and they had kept in contact via letter letting each other know of friends and the likes "I honestly don't need to know of your profession or past but for future reference I would have more believed you if you said you were a recent acquaintance of Artemis than his friend." he finished turning his eyes once more towards Artemis "I thought we agreed no more of this Artemis, don't you trust me?" his voice almost seemed hurt as he spoke the last words.

Closing his eyes he calmed himself once more "You know what... I really don't care." he said his voice cold, void of emotion which would be unusual for the youth "Lets just get this problem sorted so we can part ways, I have other things that need my attention before I have to get to work." he said his voice not changing in tone his eyes looking to the elves, it was now he had noticed that the colour was all wrong. Then again with everything that was going on right now he didn't expect anything else, his whole world had been toppled on its head because of his older brother and his former guild. It wasn't like he had other issues to deal with then there was more and more getting shoved on him, it was getting to much. He was starting to understand why his grandfather was like an oppressive dictator at times, it was to make sure this kind of stuff didn't happen. It reminded him he really should pay his grandfather a visit some time soon, if he could get the time that was. Without another word he dashed forward a kodachi of pure light appeared in each hand as he twisted like a corkscrew slashing at three several times, the onslaught easily breaking the sugar made swords they wielded.

Deleronark looked down at the small red head with a curious expression, a mix between surprise, suppressed anger, and consideration. Slowly he lowered his hand, so much for being friendly. With what he had seen of the teen, Del could tell he was under a large amount of pressure. The assassin was certain, living under Artemis shadow was not easy. The Dagger family probably pushed the teen to no end with the ‘failure’ that Artemis was probably look at. Unfortunately for the teen, he was wrong. Deleronark had come to like the older red head after their shared drink. Yet, the teen would have no idea about that seeing as it was not in the assassin’s report, and it did seem like the only friend Artemis seemed to have were female companions, and drinks. At least, if you only ever looked at what was on the outside.

Giving the smaller red head his sweetest smile, one which returned the venom that had been show, Deleronark decided two could play this game. “I never thought you were an idiot, young yes, inexperienced yes, judgmental? Most definitely. But, not stupid. After all, you are you father’s son.” Deleronark started. “Just because your family can not see what Artemis is capable of, does not mean you should believe that way either. Your ‘brother’ is my friend, and I would certainly enjoy a drink with him, after all of this is done.” The white-haired man turned his arm towards the horde, before he spoke for the last time. “I am starting to wonder just who in this family really understands him.”

Markus was silent as the grave, smile still plastered on his face through whatever else was said. He no longer cared. When he finally did turn away, he spoke. “Your right, lets handle this so that maybe, just maybe I can enjoy a drink in this forsaken town.” Suddenly the assassin stood straighter and his eyes would turn to a crimson red, the same color as blood. Markus felt as the vampiric soul takes over his body. In addition, the changes in eyes his skin would look paler, his muscles more defined, and his teeth would have sharp points.

With a wicked grin the takeover was complete, and the white-haired mage was fully enveloped in the vampiric form. His aura would be dark, and foreboding, his eyes colored crimson. Without another word, he rushed forward in a blinding flash of speed. He could see that there were quite a few of the large white creatures, the assassin was certain at some time he would be able to name the beasts, yet at current they were lost to the amnesiac. In the end, it did not matter, if they bled, they died.

Landing upon the creature the assassin grabbed tight and sunk his fangs into the beast as it reared up on his hind legs. Suddenly with a burst of vitality the white-haired mage spun around the creature’s side as it tried to knock him off. The speed at which the assassin was able to move was too much for the creature. Despite its size and strength, it could not get a hit in. As it roared up once more the vampiric male jumped into the air, using its weight and movement as a springboard. As the assassin flipped through the air, he held his hand out allowing the ethernanos in the atmosphere, and the vitality of his own blood open a void into his pocket dimension. Suddenly, in his hand was a large silvered semi-automatic pistol. Intricate runes carved down its barrel and into its grip. As the assassin flipped through the air, he pointed the gun downwards a ring of magic runes appearing before launching a series of magical pullers plumbing the top of the creature. As the creature landed, collapsing on one side the assassin finished his aerial maneuver and landed about a meter from the beast, before spinning on his heel and shooting two more rounds strait into the creature, making certain it would move no more.

With a wicked gleam in his eyes, and a measured grin the assassin surged forwards to one of the large trees, preparing for what was to come. He had never seen a tree move or walk as this one did. Frost covered its branches, and it moved slowly towards the white haired man.

Reaching into his pack, the assassin did the most logical thing, and swapped his ammunition for fire rounds.

Artemis had genuinely hoped that when Deleronark appeared, the three of the would be able to get on with the matter at hand with litterl conflict. It seemed however this was not to be the case. Although Artemis had been fine with him referring to Artemis as a friend, his younger brother had not. Artemis watched the two of them interact, hearing his brothers sharp-tongued responses to him. Artemis, quite comically pulled a face. "What..." He muttered as the two carried on talking, like was he seriously getting dissed by his fifteen year old bro. Ren even tried to make Artemis feel guilty for doing something that apparantly he had done before. Asking if he trusted him. "Huh?" He said completely confused. Ren was usually so chilled about Artemis's business, not really concerning himself with who his brother spent his time with. Yet now he was making Artemis feel bad and the twenty-two year old did not have a fucking scooby as to why. Before Artemis could put Ren straight, it seemed that Deleronark had been none too pleased with the treatment Art was getting. Surprisingly jumping to his defence, even going to far as to mention his father. Artemis's expression was one of extreme awkwardness. He decided to inch between the two, so that if either of them attacked. He would be in the way to block it.

When Deleronark stopped talking, Artemis held up in hands in a peaceful gesture. "Okay, okay, as fun as it is to watch this little cat fight between you two, I really gotta pitch in. Ren, I do trust you, but regardless of that I don't need to divulge the personal details of every friend or acquaintance I make to the family. Damien is right. You're assumptious was hella rude lil bro. Just because the family don't exactly like me, doesn't mean other people don't. Believe it or not, I'm somehwta likeable at times. So yes, I do have friends, sure some of them are just drinking buddies, and yeah okay a fair share of beneficial relationships with ladies. But Damien and I have been through some pretty intense shit recently, he's helped me a lot, and I trust him. I don't expect you to trust him too. But Ren, Damien came here at my personal request. So as you're big brother, if you respect me at all, you'll at least play nice, for my sake." He told him, hoping that he would get through to him. He knew Ren didn't mean to be insulting, he had just grown up with the family mindset of not trusting outsiders. He understood where the little guy was coming from. He would in turn to Deleronark, or Damien in this case. "I appreciate the back up dude, but my little brother is just cautious, from what you know about me, you can understand. Just mind the 'yo daddy' comments from here on out, okay?" He said with a grin. He personally didn't mind Damien's comment about his father, but he knew Ren was a little more loyal to the family than Artemis. Also Art knew how intertwined in the family's affairs Damien was, his comment wasn't entirely unwarranted, had it been someone else. Arty would've socked them in the mouth. Just for fun.

After getting into the fight with the elves and the polar bears. Artemis had been working away at another polar bear. Just about finishing it off, when he spotted Deleronark go for the tree. The polar bear fell dead at his feet and he began to join the guy in dealing with him. As Deleronark shot at the tree. A present burst forth, Artemis ran forward, attempting to deflect the attack. However just as he got close the present exploded, sprinkling him with a glittery substance. "What the-" He yelled, attempted to turn. Only to realise he could no longer move. He was frozen in place. "Crap, I can't move." He couldn't even turn his head to look around at the others. "Yo, think you two can settle your differences for a moment and kill that thing." He called out, from the corner of his eyes he could see a few remaining elves eagerly making their way towards him. Candle canes waving manically in the air. "HURRY." He barked loudly, hoping that they would actually listen to him. He really didn't fancy getting beaten to death by a group of fucking Christmas elves.

Ren closed his eyes as he normally did when taking in the information, he had no idea why this was the case but he had been doing it for as long as he could remember. It was as if he could drown out the rest of the world and concentrate on only what was essential, in this case the words that came in the form of a tongue lashing from the two elder males; as if he didn't get enough of that from Lynus and their family. He had to admit it wasn't completely unwarranted but at the same time he was always put under so much stress and pressure due to his wayward and rebellious older brother, it hadn't been the first time he had thought about running and had even started setting up several companies and bank accounts under assumed names in the eventuality that it would happen. Everyone had their breaking point after all and he wondered how many would have cracked before now, still he had been tempered to take such things as his family did see Artemis as a disappointment for several reasons. He truly loved his brother and wanted him to have the freedom that it felt he could and would never have, but this also gave him envy and jealousy towards him too. Not like their snake of a cousin Gabriel or their cousin Thaddeus whom where envious and jealous for the seat of power their branch of the family held, right now if they wanted the stress that came with what he had to put up with they were more than welcome to it. He shook his head to get such stupid and pathetic thoughts out of his head, what would his brother think of him if he allowed such thoughts enter his mind " I'm not that Foolish..." he whispered to himself, he wasn't weak willed and would do what was needed to protect his family and brother this was where his own greed lay, he refused to give up either.

Taking a deep breath he looked to the one whom had introduced himself as 'Damian' his eyes slightly narrowed. "Yes, I am my fathers son but do not even start to think you know me and what I think." he said his voice cold, right now slapping him in the face would have been less of an insult that what was just said to him that much would have been clear to anyone. He tilted his head just slightly and sighed "Hard not to be judgemental when everyone and everything is judging you, one misstep, one wrong gesture or even looking the wrong way could cause so much harm to a lot of innocent people who are doing nothing but trying to get by." he clenched the blades made of light so tightly that blood started to drip from the hilts "I'm fifteen years old Damian and I feel like I have the pressure of the universe on my shoulders, that some of my own family want to see me fall..." he shook his head not understanding why he was even telling a stranger this, perhaps it was because his older brother was there and able to hear this also he just didn't know "The only person in my entire family that treats me with an iota of decency... as a normal person is Artemis..." at this point it was clear to see the youth was fighting back tears, crumbling under the pressure of the empire that was dagger corp "But my elder brother isn't around that much and I honestly don't blame him for that, I want him to be free and happy so I bare the burden of the family's unreasonable expectations so he can spread his wings and fly like he wants to." he said with a weak smile his words would hold nothing but the loving honesty of a little brother to their older.

"So again, yes I am my father's son as is Artemis but we aren't our father so take your own damn advice and don't be judgemental." he said his voice once again calm "And please I ask that you collect all your facts on such matters because out of the family there are two of us that actually do give a damn about Artemis, myself and our elder sister Pandora." he said knowing it to be the truth "I know my older brother is quite capable of great things and that he is indeed smarter than he likes to let on, this is part of his charm and I hope that one day I can live up to that legacy as much as my father would lock me away if he heard me saying such a thing." he said knowing that to be the truth before sighing once again going over the last part that was said in his head "I don't pretend to understand my brother, he's an enigma to me but I try to see things from his side... even doing such stupid things as talking against my father." he said calmly he remembered the non disclosure agreement he was under on several things but this was something he had done at least twice before that board meeting, it was never received well but he still done it.

It was then he watched as the elder Dagger brother got involved and looked up, he had no idea that his words could be seen as making the other feel guilty; in honesty he was afraid of losing the one he looked up to because of how he acted within the family. Again his eyes closed listening to his brothers words, some of them hit deep and he realised just how wrong he had been to jump to conclusions, his eyes opened revealing his crystal blue eyes "I'm sorry Artemis, I should know better." he said his voice humble and soft as he spoke to the other, his words easily losing their sharpness as he spoke showing just how he really felt about the older red head. "Just there's so much going on..." he said his eyes looking to his feet "Too much to get my head around, but that doesn't excuse my rudeness to you or your friend." he said calmly, he honestly felt like he had not only disrespected his brother but let him down with his former behaviour. The youth nodded to his brothers words without saying anything for a long moment, his eyes going to Damian as he put his thoughts into order "After this is settled, can we redo the introductions?" he asked hoping that the other would agree, though giving his sharp tongue he could understand if the other refused to do such a thing.

By now the battle was ongoing with munchkins armed with snowballs and candy cane swords, angry looking polar bears and now moving Christmas trees. He had just knocked out the final elf near him and had dashed towards a polar bear when he stopped mid run to see his brother being covered in shimmering glitter making him sparkle in the light and couldn't help but burst into laughter "Hay Artemis... You look like one of those vampires from that book, you know the one." he chuckled almost falling over in the snow, but when he heard his brother telling them to hurry it instantly stopped and he ran towards it jumping up the branches with ease and starting to slice at it turning the kodachi blades into twin axes as he began to chop it down bit by bit. From the corner of his eye he could see more portals opening, that was all they needed as he realised just how much of a public relations nightmare this was gonna be and how much paperwork it would be if their father decided there would be non disclosure on this event too.

The assassin had already turned his attention to oncoming horde, he had said his say and as far as he was concerned the situation was handled, and over. Taking a breath he turned slightly to better hear the other two talk. As he watched more and more creatures were coming from the portals. Multiple waves of elves, more trees, and polar bears. Taking a deep breath he turned away to pay attention. He was getting antsy.

The white haired mage nodded his head meeting Artemis’ eye. He had not meant to cross a line, and honestly was just stating facts. In the end, he meant no offence but knew it was the best way to get his point across. It was when the younger red haired started speaking that the assassin raised an eyebrow. As far as he could tell his comment was not judgement, just a statement of facts. He hated to hear the young mage felt so stressed, but then again the white haired man remembered nothing of his family, or the experiments placed upon him. In fact, it was something which definitely bothered him. Taking a breath he let the mage finished.

He would have no issue treating the young mage as a person, in fact if he was to treat the mage relatively to his standing Deleronark would have kept his mouth shut and been reverent. “Apologies Rennard… Art” The assassin said nodding his head at each. “I meant no offence to either of you, just statements of observation. I can tell how much you love Artemis. I was just making sure you knew he had friends as well. Those who will come to his aid. He is not alone.” The assassin smiled once more. Social graces were still very much new to him. Most of how he acted, and responded would be action and reaction, or notes he had taken from the Lacrima net. He gave the young Dagger one final nod “I would like that. When this is all said and done, let us meet properly.”

The white haired male ran forward, his path clear. Artemis was in trouble, and while he was for some strange reason acting humorous, he needed aid. With a sigh he once more launched himself into the air, the strength of the vampiric beast sending him far overhead of the nearest white beast. Landing close to the two brothers he turned in his heals with a quick spin. Holding up the bloody rose he launched a volley of high powered flame round strait into the tree. With a satisfied smirk he watched as the creature let out a painful cry, its branches starting to catch, satisfied that the other mage could handle the tree he turned his attention to the oncoming horde. More and more portals were popping up, it was as if whatever was going on was coming to some final collimation.

Watching as another wave of pointy eared small humanoids came his direction he ran forward. Not for the first time he found himself thankful that his firearms used his essence. As he out round after round, and clip after clip into the coming elves he watched as the carnage started to pile. No doubt, that if he was using a normal firearm he would have been out of ammo multiple times over. As it was, he would just open his hand and allow the ethernanos in the air, as well as his own life essence, form into another set of rounds for him to use.

As the enemies started to narrow, and he could see gaps in the strange colored creatures Deleronark suddenly heard a cry in anguish and fear. Glancing over he could see one of the white creatures once more. It was rearing up. He could hear a female screaming. With a sign he looked towards Artemis who he had been trying to protect. “Hey dude, guess I’m gonna go help her. Surely you can do something?” His voice was questioning but absolute. He could see the elves getting closer, but knew with his own thinning and the other red head surely the older Dagger would be safe. Turning away he took off once more, after taking a few potshots at the weaker elves in his way.

Although he is going to help someone else survive there was no reason to not provide at least a little more aid to his friend. Running forward he watched as the white creature gave another terrifying roar and reared up on its hind legs. Deleronark took this excellent opportunity to fall to the ground and slide the rest of the way.

With a skilled flourish the assassin slid between to creatures legs, and under the screaming female, luckily wearing a business suit. Holding the gun skyward the assassin launched two rounds into the creatures jaw, which fell backwards under its own weight.

Standing suddenly Deleronark looked towards the female, “Run”, his voice was stern, and succinct, leaving no chance for argument. He watched as she started to run, thanking him profusely. It was surprising, he was actually enjoying himself, despite the exertion.

Taking a deep breath, he focused on the bear as it started to stand. He could see blood pooling at its feet. It looked angry, very very angry. With a sigh he stepped back as it swiped a massive paw towards his direction. The claws missing him by mere inches.

Taking two more shots, these aimed at its legs, he watched as the creature collapsed to one side, still attempting to swipe towards the assassin. With a final flourish, Deleronark put it out of its misery. “You two okay?" He yelled out towards the Dagger children. He could see the monsters thinning, the elves being almost non existent now, and the other creatures thinning drastically, if not dying out all together under the three mages might.

Signing Deleronark watched as another set of portals opened. “What now…” He said to himself.

Ren's argument against Damien wasn't exactly the easiest to stomach, Artemis didn't really want to get into it. But the kid didn't exactly have it easy, Artemis could feel himself shutting down the more Ren spoke. He was spilling way too much; it wasn't even that much of an issue that it was Damien he was telling it to. But there were a lot of employees around, some of which were probably trying to eavesdrop no doubt. Artemis's face was a picture of stone; he had just about had enough of being made to feel shitty. For just a moment, he had the unusual desire to shout at his little brother. To tell him the cold hard truth; it wasn't Artemis's desire for him to shoulder the families affairs. Art just wanted to be free, and it wasn't Ren's place to protect him from his family. Even if Ren wanted to, he couldn't anyway. His family had a plan for him, Artemis knew that. Ren's belief that he was somehow shielding him was nothing but naive and wishful thinking. It was clear that his family were taking advantage of Ren's willingness to work instead of his brother.

He closed his eyes for a moment; this is precisely why it was easier, distancing himself. He loved Ren, but his brother was a burden to himself. If he didn't so willingly oblige to his families wishes, they would probably force the work on someone else. But what could Artemis say, he knew if he tried to dissuade Ren from his position, things would grow complicated. If Lucarius or Mephistopheles heard of such interference on Artemis's part, well the punishment would be unthinkable. Ren didn't see it, what they were capable of, the darkness. Artemis could only do so much to shield him from that, as much as he hated it, Ren playing the families good boy, kept him safe.

"Ren, how about remembering where you are." He would reply coldly, glancing over at the employees that were watching them, before moving on. At least the two of them weren't fighting anymore; he would much rather deal with the matter at hand then play referee for a spat between his brother and his friend. After being frozen in place by the exploding gift launched by the walking Christmas tree. Artemis was left with no choice but to watch the scene unfold. At first, his brother, made a rather shocking joke, referring to him as a sparkly vampire from some basic teen fiction books — a comment that had heard him a rather pointed stare from his older brother before he went off to hack away at the tree which was already receiving a fire-based attack from Damien. Artemis would strain himself, trying to move, but it was no use. For now he was stuck, left with no choice but to rely on the protection of his friend and brother.

Artemis heard the roar and glanced in the direction of the beast, hearing Damian comment, he scowled, watching as the guy ran off in the bear's direction. "You think I like standing here!" He barked irritably, "It's not like I can use-" He stopped himself, frowning. Wait, could he use magic right now? He wondered, pulling the magic from within he created an orb of demonic energy, a black orb of darkness and smoke floating a short distance away. "Oh." He said, before creating several more and launching them face first into some approaching elves, knocking them back off their feet. He laughed at the sight, pleased that he could at least still use his magic. It wasn't as fun as fighting hand to hand, but at least it meant he wasn't useless. He summoned several more, sending them off after various targets. It wasn't long before the Takeover mage found himself growing bored. Damien returned, asking how they were, Art threw him a sarcastic smile and began talking in a voice of false perkiness. "Oh you know I'm just practising for when I decide to become one of those street-performers that look like statues, see if I can earn some jewel, think I'm getting quite good. SERIOUSLY DOES IT LOOK LIKE I'M OK?" He barked the last part irritably. He was seriously over this entire situation; surely there was some way to become unstuck.

In his moment of contemplating what to do, there was a rumble; another portal opened up a short way away. Bigger than the others. Art craned his head in its direction, red eyes widening and from it's emerged a giant and rather menacing looking man. Wearing a red suit, with furry white edges. A black belt with a gold buckle, and long red hat. His aged face scowling angrily in their direction, his eyes glowing an ominous red. The Santa would flex his muscles, causing his shirt to rip off in a rarely overzealous manner. Artemis rolled his eyes, taking a deep breath he would sigh. "I'm so over this Christmas shit."

Ren looked to his brother for a moment it was true he wanted to protect his brother, he also knew his brother was far beyond needing his help likely knowing a lot of things about the family secrets that he didn't know. The young red head realised that he was likely saying more than he should have about the issues going on with him but he wasn't under a non disclosure and so didn't really care who heard, he was always the prim and proper good boy taking the slack for everyone else in the family and he had, had about enough of it his eyes turning carmine red as he looked at his brother before looking at the employees "I really don't care if they hear or not Arty, I've had enough." his statement was not only straight to the point but it held an eerie coldness to it that had never been heard from him before, it was almost like he was a different person even with his posture. "I've had enough of having the responsibility of an adult yet being treated like a child, it is about time they step off me so I can actually live my life instead of just surviving it as a slave to their whims!" he turned for a moment he glowed a pale blue-white, the very next moment elves, trees and bears injured or otherwise where thrown back as was the snow creating a flurry. Though Ren had been born with magic as he had been tested for it, he had never once used it after that, he was always afraid that he might hurt someone but right now he didn't care, he was through with it all.

His eyes turned towards Artemis one more an almost sweet smile on his face but there was something under the innocent mask he was showing "And believe me Arty, I can only imagine my words made you feel bad due to my words, it wasn't my intention to do so because I truly do love you and will do what is needed to protect you from them." his voice remaining calm as he spoke, he shook his head "It's all just to much, not just for me but you too... if they've put so much burden on me I can only imagine what they've done to you as the family heir." he said his eyes flickering blue for a brief second a saddened look in his eyes, it was almost like he was back to himself once more but it had been only a brief glimpse before his eyes once more changed. He had made his mind to leave for a while, he needed space from the company and from his family so he could figure things out, do what his brother did and that was try and be somewhat normal for a change. He had even thought about joining a guild but that would make it to easy for him to be found unless he found a way to change his appearance, he already had the papers to show him as an assumed name. He just wished this need hadn't come so soon.

His eyes went to the newly formed portal as he stood at the base of the now christmas tree that sat in cinders and pieces "Well I'll be damned..." he said watching as the off putting santa came walking through the portal "Santa clause has came to town and did he just flex...?" he said almost in disbelief as his eyes once more turned crystal blue as he looked dumbfounded scratching his head unsure what to do at that time, his body language changing back to what it usually was "Artemis, I refuse to hurt Santa." he said almost as what had been said hadn't been said hadn't happened. "What would the kids do if he is injured?" he asked wanting to make sure that this wouldn't affect Christmas, he wasn't a fool and stopped believing in Santa when he was four or five years old but there was something about hitting the main icon of the season that he couldn't get over. His eyes looked to his brother when he said he was practising to be a street performer, there was so many ways that he could comment to that comment such as 'I didn't know you had been disowned' or 'they're punishing you again?' but he decided to go with "Wait your practising? I thought that was your day job" he laughed before sticking out his tongue so his older brother knew he was just teasing as brothers would. As he had been distracted it seemed as santa had brought through his sack and threw three presents at them his eyes going wide as he had no idea what was going on "Damn it, incoming!" he called out to the others wishing he had be paid more attention.

    Damien

The white haired man cocked his head sideways in an brief moment of reflection. He was listening passively as the Dagger brothers argued. Honestly, he did not really care wat was being said. To him it was useless, pointless, and an absolute waste of time. There was actual issues going on right now, people dying, and that does not even begin to explain weather or not this onslaught was anywhere near its end. With a heavy sign he looked side to side glaring at any employs who got too close, yet he made no moves to stop their snooping. It was not his place, and besides he was not getting paid to babysit, or guard. No, he was here for only one reason. He watched apathetically as the creatures were starting to be fought back.

Deleronark turned towards older Dagger and raised an eyebrow. As far as he could tell the man looked perfectly fine, none of the enemies had harmed him, he was not bleeding, and a bird had yet to mistake him for a statues. With his eyebrows still raised he spoke up, “Well… Yeah, you look fine to me.” He said in a humorous tone, giving no light to Arts irritation. “If you like, we could decorate you like once of those trees?” The assassin gave a slight smile, acting as if everything was okay. After all, he had no magic which could help the red head, and getting worried or irritated would just be counterproductive. His eyes turned away as he examined what was going on.

All around elves lay slain, bears fell over, and the trees were burning a fierce conflagration falling apart at the base. It look as if finally this entire ordeal was coming to a close. The assassin looked about, still droning out whatever conversation was being had when suddenly his eyes caught something shifting within the burning trees. All at once the fire was snuffed out and a wind blew through the area, far colder than any previously as if all of winter was behind the gale. The wind whipped back and forth, knocking over the trees, plowing over trashcans, and blowing anything not secured.

All at once the wind started to spin faster and faster at the trees base, and the flames died down. Ice started to spread from the center, cold white frost coating the ground as if snow had freshly fallen. Suddenly another portal opened, this one far paler than the others. Deleronark could see all sorts of flashes, lights, and colors. Suddenly a man steps out. He had a broad red suite, with a broad black belt, a golden buckle, and a floppy red hat.  He had a long beard white as snow and piercing eyes, as if he had seen all the bad someone can do, and checked it twice. His eyes glanced across the group of mages before he suddenly flexed in an extravagant way.

With a sigh Deleronark stepped forward as the younger red head spoke, who cares, he was here to harm people and his minions have already tried to kill. “I do not think he cares about the kids anymore.” Deleronark said quietly before rushing forward to combat the opponent. As the presents suddenly bust. It was… strange to say the least. Deleronark froze as the magic assaulted him, then smiled. He could feel his magical powers increase, as well as his speed. He noticed however that he felt weaker. That was however of little concern to the assassin. He did not plan to get close.

After speaking his thoughts the assassin rushed forward his pistol held forward. Jumping to the side he narrowly dodged a bauble thrown in his direction before launching a series of fast paced rapid shots. Each aimed at the flexing ‘santa’.

The bombardment of shots hit with a satisfying smash, the large man stepped towards Deleronark with a single step, he was bleeding but far from killed.

Winter falls on Dagger Corp. Empty Re: Winter falls on Dagger Corp.

Post by Artemis Dagger 12th January 2019, 7:14 am

It seemed that the simple act of telling his little brother to watch what he was saying, causing him to flip. Artemis sighing, rubbing his temples, he'd just about had enough of this situation. He got things were tense for Ren, but for once he just wanted to hang out with his little brother, without getting an earful from someone about family matters, "Ren please..." He began, his voice was tired, strained. "I'm not trying to upset you but can we just... forget the family bullshit for once and get the job done. I'm sorry Ren, I know it sucks for both of us, Pandora too, but like it or not this is the hand we were dealt. I agree that's it's not fair, but I'm only telling you to stop because having our dirty laundry aired out for the world to see, doesn't suit any of us. Which is exactly what you're doing right now, I ask you to stop because what your doing right now isn't fair to either of us. How much you want to say about yourself is your choice, but frankly, the world doesn't need to know how our family treats me, that's between them and me. On top of which, I don't fancy being dragged into another meeting with Father and getting another scolding, I'm sure you don't want that either. So let's just calm down, get rid of these pests and call it a day." He said, he turned from his brother. Not wanting to talk about this any more, this brief encounter had somehow given Artemis a migraine. After facing the creatures and getting stuck, he threw Damian a 'look' at his Christmas tree comment, something that could be read as 'Don't you dare'.

After Santa's appearance, Artemis glared idly at it. Hearing Ren's comment, he rolled his eyes, "Seriously Ren? That's obviously not the real Santa... not that Santa's even re-" He stopped himself, glancing around. He'd almost spilt a huge secret in front of an audience; there were a few young people watching, young people who still probably idolised the fictitious old man with a sack. That was close. Artemis waved his hand at the fake Santa, "Obviously, he's an imposter." He said pointedly, only then realising that he had moved his arm. And therefore, could move his body again. Artemis would hop from foot to foot, letting out a laugh. "Aha! Get this guys; I'm free. Oh shi- Santa, yeah" He said watching as presents suddenly burst out from Santa. Artemis's body felt weird like himself grow stronger at first, then taking some damage too. Artemis shook it off, shaking some of the glitter off of his body. He marched towards Santa, watching as Damian unloaded several shots into his body. Artemis summoned more pearls of darkness around himself, manifesting a horde of orbs. He spread his palm, once more releasing his Thorns of Purgatory. The vines would shot forward, wrapping themselves around Santa's body so that he could not avoid the onslaught of orbs coming his way. After the orbs smashed into the old man, Artemis would flick his palms outwards towards the man. Releasing a giant pulse of demonic energy that struck his body face on. Santa would grunt as it smashed into him, buckling slightly from the hit. Just a little more, and this would finally be over.
