'Monster Dice' :

Allison and the crew continued to move along at a steady pace, ignoring the dozens of enemies that they passed. None of them seemed to notice the female mages, which suited them quite well. In fact, that was their goal, and it was nice that it was being accomplished. Allison felt that some how, they were becoming nearer to where ever Sir Townsend and his family were being kept hostage, for they were encountering more and more enemies on the way. That must have been a sign that the security was much tighter around the areas they were currently passing through, which could only mean that there was a reason that the security was much greater. And... considering that these were dark mages, who had broken into this mansion, Allison doubted that it was to protect the valuables of the home. More likely, it was to guard the Townsend family from any possible rescue units, such as the one that Allison was a part of.

The red haired girl noted that the mages they were now passing seemed to be like the last group. No longer were they separated by their different cloak or robe types, but instead seemed to have formed larger groups. She supposed that they covered up their weaknesses much better that way. Fortunately, she was aware of what they were, as well as could assume what type of magic they used. Silver and white robes were wind make magic, brown robes were some kind of earth magic, and white robes with a gold stripe were celestial spirit summoning mages. Allison suddenly felt a poke from Portha, centered right in the middle of the girl's back. She turned around to see the older mage gesturing for Allison to continue walking. Apparently, without realizing it, the girl had stopped and was at risk of being seen.

She quickly continued on wards, but the damage had been done.  A lone mage, just arriving and about to pass through the corridor, had spotted the girl and immediately teleported over.  Allison blinked and suddenly he was in front of her, the girl just barely dodging a well placed kick at one of her ankles but not the punch aimed at her left arm.  Atha and Atma had apparently noticed that the other two mages of the group had been delayed, for suddenly they too appeared seemingly out of nowhere, their eyes immediately widening.  Allison realized that most likely, this was one of the mages who was in charge of this entire affair.  It was clear that his power was significantly greater than the others that she had faced so far.  Atha and Atma immediately dashed forwards, their swords glowing and at the ready.

The mage was cloaked in black, grey, and white, and seemed to possess the ability to teleport wherever he wanted.  Atha and Atma were having trouble cornering the man, but combined with Portha's onslaught of bullets, they were successfully able to land a few hits.  Allison joined in, summoning her Shield of Mercy as well as her Nerve Cutting Blade.  The mage seemed to sense that Allison was still not exactly primarily a combat mage, for he targetted the girl first, charging straight at her.  Then all of a sudden, Allison had the wind knocked out of her and was sent flying forwards, not taking any damage because of the shield but still experiencing some unpleasant effects simply because the shield absorbed only damage or magical spells, not physical attacks.

The girl noted that thankfully, the man had taken reflect damage from her Shield of Mercy.  Dashing forwards, she sliced at the man's nerves, trying to paralyze him with her blade.  Although it was invisible, the man seemed to intuitively know where her nerve cutting blade was, for he managed to partially dodge, still taking damage but not ending up with restricted movement.  Then, Atha and Atma dodged in, and combined with the reflect damage, Allison's slashings, Portha's bullet barrage, and their own previous sword attacks, it was enough to completely knock the man out.  The group was able to continue on wards without too much trouble.

Despite having not taken a lot of effort, the encounter with the teleporting mage had taken a bit of time, and the four female wizards were running a little bit behind schedule.  Atha tried to quicken their pace a little bit, but found that it was difficult to go that fast and also remain completely hidden in the shadows, so she dropped back to the previous one, hoping that they would not arrive too late.  Atma also seemed anxious, but Allison and Portha had still assumed the exact same attitude as last time.  Both were confident that they would make it in time, and continued to play the game Chopsticks at random intervals throughout their journey.  It seemed that although the group was on different wave lengths, though, they all were still perfectly focused on their goal.  Each knew that lagging could cause failure, but had reacted to this knowledge in different ways.

After another hour of travelling, even Portha had become anxious.  They hadn't seen any sign of guards or mages, which might mean that they had gotten off track.  Then again, it could also have been a sign that the mage they had fought an hour ago was the last defense, and their mission was almost complete.  All of a sudden, the crew encountered four doors, which were each marked with either a general sword shape or a gun.  Three of them held a blade shape and the last held the gun shape, and the women simply looked at each other then stepped up to their various doors.  Allison decided that since it was the only one available and she did use a blade as a spell, the girl would go through a blade shaped door.  None of them knew why the doors were their, nor why they were being forced to split up-- but there were no other options left to them.  Time was running out.

After passing through the door, which swung lightly open to the left, Allison was met with what seemed to be a wall of darkness. The girl tilted her head slowly to the right, examining the wall as the door swung shut behind her, causing a loud clang whose echo could probably be heard in all of the other passage ways. Simply shrugging a little bit, the mage beamed into the darkness and then skipped forwards, completely relaxed and ready for the enemies she was sure were to come greet her soon. They really weren't enemies-- just opponents. No one was Allison's enemy, and this was just a job. She was certain that if the circumstances were different, they could probably be the best of friends, and considering that the dark guilded mages were from Fiore, it was even more likely that once upon a time they could have been besties.

The girl tilted her head again slightly to her right side and then called out into the darkness, "Is anyone there?" Perhaps nobody was, and then Allison would have to go through this dark passageway all by herself. That might be too bad, since it could get boring-- but then again, Allison didn't mind! They were probably off doing some thing much more fun, and that was all the girl could ask for. For everyone around her to enjoy themselves to the fullest... Allison continued to wander through the darkness. There didn't seem to be anyone else around her, unfortunately, and the entire trip didn't really have any exciting parts to it so far. It seemed that she was just supposed to walk down a straight hallway-- or in Allison's case, half skip and half bounce down the straight passageway.

And so Allison went ahead and did so, skipping and cheerfully humming under her breath, which echoed loudly in the space. The girl could tell that the passageway did go on for some time, but still winding a little bit on a downwards angle, still straight ahead for the most part. She could tell all of this by sound, by the way that it echoed and bounced off of the cold stone walls. Allison continued to skip through the place, ignoring the fact that it was nearly completely pitch dark, and she couldn't tell if she was about to walk head first into a group of enemies or not. Absentmindedly, the girl kind of wondered why they had been forced to split up anyways if their enemies didn't know of their existence and wanted to eliminate them-- but then again, Allison supposed that perhaps it was just a coincidence that there were those four doors. She beamed brightly at the thought, and continued on her way.

After travelling for what seemed to be an interminable amount of time, Allison still hadn't begun to get tired yet. She knew that she had to keep a steady pace, or the others might arrive before her-- or after her, if the girl rushed and ran instead of going along like she always just did. Of course, their passageways and number of enemies might not be evenly distributed in number and length. It seemed that the red haired mage had inadvertently chosen a very easy path-- that, or there weren't any opponents in any of the passageways. If that was the case though... the girl went back to pondering about why, but soon gave it up again and continued to skip, beaming into the darkness. The mission could be almost over! She some how felt that they were getting nearer and nearer to their goal of rescuing the Townsend Family.

Continuing through the darkness some more, Allison wondered exactly what was going to happen once she finally got out of this place and through whatever kind of doors awaited at the finish line. Would Sir Townsend and his family be waiting there for them, along with many enemies? Or would they have to fight through another wave of enemies-- no, not enemies, opponents, Allison mentally corrected herself. No person was her enemy unless they hurt someone and the person was unable to be fixed, or they hurt themselves and didn't want to be fixed. Or if they were the kind of person that delighted in causing pain and suffering to other people... Allison's smile faded a little bit, just as she thought about those kinds of people. A few dark mages were like that... and the red haired girl had this strangest feeling that some one she had once been close to had been like that, too.

Sighing lightly, Allison called out again into the darkness, "Helloooo? Is anyone here? My name is Allison! So, come out-- I won't hurt you!" Little did she know that while she was venturing forwards, calling out to her enemies, there was something following her, tracking the girl by the sound of her voice and also by listening to her pattern of skipping footsteps. The creature might have been on the Musketeers' and Allison's side-- and it might have not, but either way the girl didn't realize that there was something going on in the darkness surrounding her. Allison just kept on going, and going, and going, even though she was completely unsure of exactly when she would discover her goal.

After what seemed to be another hour of skipping and bouncing along, Allison finally ran smack dab into a large wooden door. The girl squinted, but couldn't even make out its general outline, and ended up having to resort to sticking out her hands and feeling along in front of her for a handle or anything. Allison could tell that it was made of vertical planes of wood, rather than the stone squares that the rest of the passageway had been comprised of-- but how did she get through? Considering that it was wood, maybe the girl could have broken through, but she didn't want to risk ruining the door if she didn't have to, or possibly injuring anyone on the other side. Scrunching up her eyebrows in thought, the girl didn't react as from the shadows, another figure suddenly dashed forwards, leaping towards the red haired mage in the same movement. Allison blinked at the sudden sound and turned around, only to be met with...

Portha! The petite brunette hugged Allison fiercely and knocked her to the floor. The red haired girl could only blink and then break into a wide, beaming smile as she hugged her back with excitement. Then the two got up, and Portha explained how she had gotten here, after becoming much more composed despite the abrupt show of affection and relief. Apparently, Portha's passageway had been much shorter in distance, with her reaching a wooden door shaped thing like Allison's at the time that the red haired girl supposed would be about halfway through. She broke through using a gun skill that merged bullets together into a larger projectile, and found a sign that told her to follow whoever was behind the next door. If Portha was spotted, the game would be over, and Sir Townsend and his family would be out of luck. Apparently, one of the dark mages had a nasty sense of humor and wasn't interested in the money-- he just wanted to play around with the Musketeers and whoever decided to try and assist them.

Allison and Portha looked at each other for a little bit after the brunette had finished her explanation.  It was silent for a few moments, and then they spoke at once, only saying the word, "Yes" before turning towards the stone door and then drawing a fist back to punch through.  Only... in the dark, it was rather difficult to tell which direction the door was in, so while Portha managed to smash a hole into the wooden panels, Allison instead connected squarely with one side of the passageway, the square stone bricks bruising her fingers.  Unfortunately, due to the girl's numbness and inability to feel pain, they continued to punch for a little bit and neither noticed until Portha realized that the two were making surprisingly slow progress for two people working on a small section of wood.  Fortunately, Allison had much more power in her legs and typically used them for combat-- therefore, she couldn't really punch very hard, and not much damage besides minor bruising had been done.

After redirecting her mission companion to be facing the correct way, Portha shook her head slightly and went back to smashing the door, but a slight smile was on her face.  A little ways away from her, Allison was happily kicking at the correct door, breaking it apart with a beaming grin spread wide across her face.  Soon the job was completed, and the two dashed forwards to read the second note, which basically said the same thing as Portha's, just involving two people.  After reading over the warning and directions one more time, the duo looked at each other and nodded once again, carefully and quietly cracking the next door open a little bit.  This one actually seemed to have a handle, probably because smashing through would cause a lot of noise, and perhaps arouse the suspicions of whoever's pasageway this was.  Then the two mages slipped through, and continued on their way.

After padding along silently for some time, all of a sudden it seemed that they could discern a figure ahead, flashing in and out of the shadows. The two realized with a start that it was the tall, imposing red haired woman Atma, and she seemed to be travelling in a stealth like manner despite the fact that the passageway was already dark and there didn't seem to be any visible enemies. Allison and Portha continued to follow the woman for a long time, and then all of a sudden she stopped and whirled around, stepping out from the some how darker shadows and then disappearing again. The two younger girls blinked, and then scurried back to flatten themselves against the wall-- but then nothing happened. Instead, a small slip of paper appeared in both Allison's and Portha's hands.

Each girl carefully unrolled the slip of paper, keeping it hidden within their hands despite the darkness. They couldn't read because of the pitch black of the passageway, but then realized that there was no need to-- instead of normal flat ink words, it seemed to have a slightly raised surface, like a relief on a wall or the underside of a carved inscription in a squishy material. And it read: "I know you are following me. I know that there is a reason, so I will not call you out-- but please don't be so obvious. - Atma" Both girls looked at each other and simultaneously rolled their eyes, although Allison wasn't actually annoyed at all. That just wasn't her personality. The three continued to trek on at a steady pace, with Allison trying her best not to skip or bounce around, since that would make a lot of noise.

After a few more hours of travelling, Atma arrived at the wooden door and just stood there, staring blankly at it. She hadn't even run into the thing and instead stopped perfctly, which surprised the two younger girls, who had been walking at their normal paces when the wooden panels had seemed to suddenly appear out of nowhere. Allison and Portha looked at each other, then shrugged simultaneously and dashed forwards to glomp the red haired woman, who easily sidestepped and ended up allowing the younger girls to get tangled on the floor. Rolling her eyes a little bit, Atma just shook her head and went to work on the wooden panels, easily slicing through the sides with her sword and causing the wooden barrier to fall apart quite easily. Only a little bit disgruntled that they had failed and it had taken such a short amount of time to get through, Portha stood up and brushed herself off, then jumped through the now open space. Allison was still beaming and not upset in the slightest as she followed the two older mages.

The three mages passed through the room without any troubles, Atma not wishing to read the note or listen to the girls' explanations. She simply said that she had deduced what was happening from the turn of events, which confused both of the younger mages but they decided to just go along with whatever she was thinking. After all, Atma was the strategist and the most comfortable with infiltration out of all of the female mages in the group. The duo, now a trio, began to follow Atha, who showed no signs of having noticed the mages. They continued on wards seemingly without any issues, although secretly all three of the females were positive that their blonde leader had realized that they were there long ago, but trusted that there was a reason for the concealment. It was good that Allison hadn't spotted Portha, for she would have immediately waved to the girl and shouted out a greeting.

Once again, they seemed to soon arrive at another set of wooden panels that formed a door-- and once again, the person that they were following stopped almost directly before she would have hit the door.  Allison and Portha, who had both crashed head first into theirs, resisted the temptation to giggle at the memory or sigh at their skill differences, respectively.  Atma stepped forward to greet Atha, who turned around and simply nodded to acknowledge her companion.  And then, of course, Allison and Portha tried to glomp the blonde, who allowed herself to be tackled but not to be knocked to the floor, simply patting the two on the head before untangling herself and then going back to glance the wooden panels over.  She used the exact same method as Atma had-- taking her sword and simply cutting along the sides of the door, the enchanted material cutting easily through the some what thin boards.

They passed through another room, but Atha elected to read her card.  Afterwards, she once again simply put it down and nodded to the group before placing a hand on the door knob and opening it, gliding through into the shadows of the next room.  And within the room was a group of people-- the Townsend family, along with the single dark guilded mage, who had formed the entire maze of things.  He raised an eyebrow at the Musketeers and Allison as they entered, as if to say, "I can see you and I know you're there.  Your attempts at espionage do not succeed with me."  The group simply decided to ignore him and went about untying the hostages, informing the older ones of the situation.  Allison was assigned the task of gathering all the children together, so once again she began to tell them a story, speaking in a quiet voice but a bright and cheerful one, so that despite the possibly traumatic experience of being held for ransom, they would feel comfortable.

Atha and Atma began questioning some of the adults if they knew when the other mages would be coming back when suddenly, the dark guilded mage in the corner stood up and cleared his throat.  "That's enough," he said.  "You could always just ask me these questions.  I'm a part of them, after all-- and do you think that it's wise to ignore a powerful mage?"  The older of the two female mages simply ignored the man and continued to talk to the Townsend family.  Allison paused briefly in her story, then went back to painting a mental picture of the fire dragon slayer killing the evil earth dragon who had been terrorizing towns in Fiore.  And Portha stopped briefly to gape at the man's rudeness and pompousness, but then seemed to not care beyond that, as she immediately went back to assisting the Townsend family with getting re situated.

The dark wizard didn't seem to appreciate all of this, and stalked forwards to grab Portha by the hair, holding a knife to her throat.  Almost absentmindedly actually, Atma sent her sword flying hilt first at the two of them, hitting the dark mage squarely in the temple and sending him tumbling to the ground, completely knocked out cold.  Portha was dropped and managed to catch her fellow Musketeer's sword just before it hit the ground, and stood up carefully, showing no sign of having been afraid.  She even rolled her eyes a little bit as she threw the sword back, Atma catching it with a little bit of a smirk on her face.  The female mages were wholly unimpressed by false shows of bravado or power, and the dark guilded wizard's half threats never even really occupied a side thought in any of their minds.

Allison and the Musketeers soon left the room, dragging the dark mage's unconscious body along with them.  Sir Townsend and the Townsend family followed them, the large group making quite a bit of noise, but the four mages were confident in their skills and ability to protect them.  They made their way through the halls slowly but surely-- Sir Townsend was able to give directions on how to get back to the servants' entrance that they had infiltrated the building from.  Apparently, the house was gigantic and had the magical property of always being able to expand its size, despite its outward appearance-- a handy thing, but misleading when it came to plotting out how much time would be required to cross through parts of the building.  Nonetheless, Atma predicted that they should be out within at most two hours, so long as they continued to move in the correct direction at this steady pace.

Allison and the other two mages nodded at the red haired woman's speculations, since they seemed to be perfectly reasonable.  True, it had taken them much longer to find their way in-- but the hallways were supposedly more empty now because it was getting to be late, and the mages were relaxing.  Additionally, they now had a guide in Sir Townsend, who could tell them exactly where each corridor would lead, and he could also keep them away from the hallways that would increase their travel time.  So with the man's help, the group continued on swiftly.  A few times, they would encounter two to four mages in various kinds of robes, which would attempt to attack the four females, who were leading in the front-- but they were easy to fight off, and the Musketeers and Allison had no issues.

After travelling for another hour or so, Allison began to hum to herself once again. This job was exciting, and she had gotten to fight a few different kinds of mages! Earth mages, celestial spirit summoning mages-- and that wind make person, who had made a giant hammer out of wind. Glancing over at Portha, she checked to make sure that the girl was really all right. After all, not only had she taken a few hits from the wind make mage, but she had also been accidentally hurt by Atha when the team's blonde leader had dragged them to safety. Allison was worried internally about the brunette, but seeing as she seemed to be just as chipper as normally, the red haired girl relaxed. She then looked over the entire group, checking to make sure that all of its members seemed to be comfortable and able to keep up with the rest of them.

Noticing that few of the children were lagging behind at the tail end of the group, Allison's beaming smile faded a little bit, and the mage abandoned skipping and ran to catch up with Atha. Explaining that she was requesting to move to the back of the group for a little bit, the blonde gave permission and even said that it was probably a good idea. Should any dark mages or opponents of any sort appear from behind, Allison was to call the Musketeers, was all she said after that. Allison was already skipping and bouncing back down the hall, straight through the huge mass of Minstrel citizens, who were all part of the noble Townsend family. Some of them gave the girl funny looks, probably wondering why she was headed in the opposite direction from anyone else. But Allison had a goal in mind, and behind everyone else was just where it-- no, they, happened to be.

As she neared closer to the children, they noticed her and stopped messing around. Previously, the little group had been some what roughhousing, tackling each other and glomping their friends playfully. It seemed like something that Portha or Allison would do. Allison couldn't remember having done so as a child, but then again... she couldn't really remember her past at all. Blinking some more and shifting back to the present, a wide, beaming smile spread across the girl's face. She jumped right in the middle, scooping up all four of the children and then skipping along back to the tail end of the group, who had slowly continued to move away. The red haired mage couldn't let them get lost in this place just because they lagged behind, and very slightly relieved that she had spotted them before it was too late.

After safely making it back to the group, Allison set the children down and patted each on the head, smiling brightly and waving them along. And young woman just then rushed towards the back of the entire Townsend family group, asking with a panicked expression if anyone had seen her daughter. Allison studied the children for a little bit and then selected the girl that seemed to resemble the woman the most, holding her up and shouting out cheerfully, "Is this her"" to which the woman replied with a scream of relief and charged over. The little girl was delivered safely back to her parents, and then the red haired mage brought the other three children around, telling them stories to keep them occupied while also asking parents if they were missing any children. A few minutes later, all three were back with their parents, and Allison was skipping back towards the front of the group.

Finally, it seemed that they were nearly out of here.  Allison was playing Chopsticks with Portha once again, and trying not to become bored since she knew it would all be over soon anyways.  She wanted to remember the mission with only fond memories, and so she did everything that she could to stay occupied.  Allison skipped and sang, hummed and bounced all over the hallways, much to the chagrin of Portha, who was trying to tag her left hand to win the game.  Atma was only watching with a neutral expression, although there seemed to be a kind of turned up corner to her dead set mouth.  Atha had an amused expression on her face, although she seemed to be mostly concentrating on leading the group to safety.  That was what they had come here to do, of course, and even though it wasn't a bad thing to play around and play games, the mission leader couldn't afford to be distracted.

Portha finally caught up to Allison and managed to tap the girl's left hand with her own right one, which resulted in a loss for the red haired girl. But she didn't really mind, and just giggled and stopped bouncing around, trying to restrain herself enough to play another game. Unfortunately, it seemed she was incapable of calming down and staying focused enough to accomplish that, for the brunette Musketeer rolled her eyes and gave up half of the way through, after telling Allison for the fourth time to stop bouncing around. It was fortunate that the group was nearly out of the Townsend mansion-- for had they been forced to remain in here any longer, Portha might have exploded and killed the red haired girl out of exasperation.

All of a sudden, sunlight was shining in all of their eyes, and the group was blinded for a few moments as they poured out into the courtyard. The four celestial spirit summoning mages that the Musketeers and Allison had first knocked out where lying in their old positions on the ground, still unconscious. All of the Townsend family seemed to be in great uproar, wanting to know what was happening next, and also whether they were going to be all right. Allison and Portha were rather confused-- they had just been going through a mansion that was infested with foreign dark wizards, and had finally made it outside-- and now the freed hostages were panicking? But thankfully, Atha and Sir Townsend took control, with Atma standing a little bit away to the side, surveying the scene and counting heads. The two leaders then spoke, alternating and explaining the situation.

Apparently, now other Musketeers were going to enter the mansion and forcibly remove all of the dark mages. They couldn't have done so before for fear that either the hostages would be hurt in retaliation, or they would accidentally hurt the family themselves with wide range spells. Atha reassured Sir Townsend and his family that the house would be perfectly fine, and that they would probably be able to go back home within the next day or two. However, she did mention that she recommended that they increase the home's defenses, so that something like this would never happen again. Sir Townsend was an intelligent man and knew that as the family's leader, it was his job to put on a steady face for his family. He told Atha that they would make arrangements for the Townsend family to spend the night at a nearby hotel or such, and the woman thanked him before rejoining Atma on the sidelines. Sir Townsend ushered his family members out of the mansion's gates, and then nodded respectfully to the three Musketeers and Allison before leaving himself.

Then all four of the girls looked at each other with curiously guarded expressions until all of a sudden, each burst out laughing, even the imposing Atma and the calm and composed Atha. Portha and Allison were the only ones rolling around on the ground, to which the two older mages raised a brow. But none the less, a successful mission such as this deserved at least a little bit of celebration, and so celebrate they did, for five minutes before they realized that not only were they still on the grounds of a mansion infested with dark wizards, but also that the Musketeers' organization was planning to launch an attack on anything living within the area, which was due to start in roughly five minutes. The four girls suddenly sobered up and hopped over the fence in the same way as they had came, with Allison remaining behind to pick up a stray pink cat that she assumed was the pet of one of the Townsend family members. The owner would be very sad if he or she died, the red haired mage supposed.

Taking the cat with her, Allison then followed the other three mages back to the Musketeer's main headquarters, where she was told the details of her passage home, as well as given her jewel reward. As a gift, however, they gave her an honorary Musketeer outfit-- It was not red, like Atha's, nor yellow, like Atma's, nor blue, like Portha's-- but it was green, and between yellow and blue was exactly where Allison had fit in through this entire mission. Beaming brightly at the three women, Allison skipped off in the direction that they had specified her to go to, managing to get lost on the way. Eventually though, she made it safely to the foreigner's station, where the kind helpers assisted the scatterbrained girl in getting to the right place to go back to Fiore.
