    No time for food. I must get there before daybreak.

    Enthused would be an understatement. Tracy was more than excited for her first ever mission as a freelancing mage. Yes, she was a six-foot, grown woman. But right now, she felt like one of those abnormal kids who were actually looking forward to school on their very first day at preschool. However her posture remained calm, as if her mind was not a hellish carnival. Her first job was to steal a recipe. Rival thing. She understood the feeling, since she has been in more than one rivalry when she was younger. Now she focused on the job. Peace Village matched its name perfectly. There was barely a sound heard. Tracy wondered if all the villagers were old people, no youngsters. Maybe it wasn't peaceful. Maybe it was depressing. Gloomy, perhaps. No one could know for sure, could they? It was all perspective. The villagers might think of their settlement as gloomy and unnaturally quiet. For outsiders, it was peaceful, as there was not a noise to be heard. Tracy was now entering village center. The client's rival lived close.

    Once entering the village, she spotted a small lock and keys shop. It was really small, like everything else in the village. She had absolutely no idea what a lock and keys shop was doing out here. It was interesting. And she needed a key anyway. A transformable one, so she could fit it into the rival's lock at his front door. Unless he secured his house with a different form of protection. Then, she would have to think of something else. But for now, she barged right in and asked for the transformable key. Lucky day, it was. She got her key at quite a low price. “Thank you, locksmith, sir,” she said to the man at the shop, guessing he was the locksmith himself. If he wasn't he should feel flattered and that wasn't bad. Tracy got out of the shop with the key and went on towards her destination on foot.

    It was exactly five in the morning when Tracy decided to rest for a while on a smooth rock sitting near a thatched hut. It looked like many travelers - or just random villagers - sat on it, because it even resembled a bench. The sun was already peeking out the horizon as the reQuip mage wiped a sweat on her forehead with the back of her hand. She did not expect the journey from outside the village to the village center would be this arduous. And she wasn't even in the center yet. More walking to do, ugh. But first, she needed to fill her grumbling tummy. Her first look to her left brought her the sight of a cute little ramen shop. Her eyes sparkled as she shot up from her seat. What a lucky morning! She would take fifteen minutes at most to have breakfast before continuing her mission.

    After around ten minutes, she was done. The owner of the midget ramen shop thought Tracy was an important person, addressing her rather formally. This was probably thanks to her attire. She didn't look anything like a thief, whose role she was about to play. Thanking the owner for such a delicious breakfast, Tracy set out for the village center. She had no idea how intimated the villagers felt just by receiving a tiny glance from her with those luminous red eyes. Or maybe she did, but didn't care, the way she usually felt about things. Her pigtails bounced on and brushed against her hips as she strode through the small paths. Finally reaching the rival chef's hut, Tracy checked how he had left his hut secured. Perfect. A lock. Fishing out the little key she had purchased a while ago, she fixed it so it fit the lock on his hut.

    Tracy was inside now. There was no one nearby and it was exceptionally quiet, though it was in the center of the village where the population was expected to be most dense. She made sure she didn't make a noise though. You can never predict everything will go perfectly well. Tracy noticed that the whole place was one room. Yes. Just one room. Blinking, she looked around for drawers or cupboards that might contain important papers. She searched through everything. There was nothing. So she proceeded to the private part of the hut. It was a little curtained corner. Tracy slowly pulled apart the cheap curtain to reveal a bed and a--

    “MEEEE-OW!”

    A cat flew straight in her face, fighting her off like a brave warrior.

    “OH MY GOD, you feline bitch, you!” Tracy accidentally swore as she grabbed the animal and threw it to the opposite corner of the room. She then searched the bed, finding the recipe under the pillow. With a smirk, she exited the hut, locking it back with the cat inside. She stuck her tongue out at it before leaving for her client, looking calm and collected like nothing happened. First job: nailed it!
