Strange Vulcans (Part One) - Noel, Legacy and Shard

Job Information:

The Spooky Forest, home to some of the more peculiar and threatening creatures of Fiore. Marick was leaning against a tree as he waited for two other mages who, he'd been told, would be accompanying him on a job in the wilderness. The job in question; to beat the crap out of some vulcans and ensure they didn't steal anymore food from the nearby villages. It sounded easy enough, particularly to Marick who viewed Vulcan's as perverted monkeys who were easily sidetracked. Nonetheless he'd agreed to working in a group so as to ensure he wasn't outnumbered. Stupid as Vulcan's were, being outnumbered by them could potentially cause considerably more trouble than he'd like. At least assistance from the other two mages would ensure the job would be completed.

While he leant there he was shuffling his deck, occasionally finger-rolling a card across his right hand before placing it into the center of the deck. I wonder...who will I be pushed to work with today? Will our magics and personalities gel? he thought to himself, chuckling as he thought back to his very first job with a certain mercenary, whom he'd now been spending many a day drinking with. Admittedly there was no way he'd strike lucky and find someone else he'd click with so well on a personal as well as a professional level, but hopefully these two mages would be at least half as amusing to work with.

Shard as usual decided to arrive in style and beauty. He was just that kind of guy. Once more, like on a previous mission, he'd rented a beautiful white stallion and its saddle and reins were beautifully crafted. He made a mental note to buy one in the future as these rentals were getting pricy. Then again there was no price on beauty. The mission was one he had an interest in. Some rare ingredients came from the Spooky Forest and the vulcans stealing those ingredients made the prices of them more expensive and made them harder to find. Without them he couldn't make some of his special christmas treats for his guildmates. He would show them not to interfere with his holidays. "It is so ugly to do so after all." he said to himself as he rode towards the meeting point.

It seemed that they wanted three mages for this task, which was fine by him as the harmony of teamwork was some of the most beautiful. He'd been meaning to take two of his guildmates, but found out when he applied for the task that two other mages had already accepted. It was going to be an interesting experience, though he doubted it would be as fun as his mission with Devlyn. The tree which he was supposed to meet these mages by was known as the gateway oak. It was the tree that signalled the start of the more dangerous part of the forest. The place where the dangerous beasts, like the vulcans, resided. As he came in close he saw man waiting. With a beautiful flip he jumped off the horse, twirled in the air and landed in a crouch.

"Good morning to you sir." he said as he rose to his feet and ran a hand through his hair, which today was cut short and spiky. It was still the four colours of pink, green, white and blue though. "My name is Shiraz Sucrose of Fairy Tail. Are you here to deal with the vulcans like myself?"

Arrrghhhh! The bellows echoed through the forest, scaring off birds and other wild life nearby. Emerging from the shadows of the wooden plane, was a behemoth no bigger than an elephant, its eyes glared as he was chasing a young male. " Damn fur ball, not my fault you hit your head on my fist!" The young male yelled back at the beats, but his words didn't aid the situation.

The boy zig zagged until he could run no more, he turned around only for the huge beast to prowl on top of him. " You probably shouldn't have done that." The boy taunted as his body began to glow and emit a shadowy aura which propelled the beats off of him.


The creature roared repeatedly, trying to demonstrate its gusto, but the boy seemed to have more moxy in him, he didn't fear the beats, only chuckled softly as if he was facing a teddy bear. He waved his hands, inviting the beast to attack him, the behemoth of course, took his bait only to be caught in the grasp of the boy's aura. Could it be magic?

" I've had enough of you." the firm statement was made, as he released his tension the beats was ripped in half by the shadow aura, blood gushed everywhere, splattering rocks, grass, and trees. The area was completely covered in blankets of blood. Such gore caused the boys to look away in disgust, only there was no frown but a sick grin, he began walking towards a trail which led him to a fellow male. Out of curiosity the young boy observed at first before making an entrance.

From his observation, the opposing male looked to be a regular guy, enjoying his hobby of playing cards.


" Mind if I join you in a game of gold fish? " he said awkwardly, the boy seemed not to have developed any social skills in his lifetime yet, so speaking to another human being seemed to be something he struggled at.

Marick placed his deck into its holder and bowed his head at Shiraz as he arrived, although this may have been due to the bright colouring of the mage. With such vibrant hair it was clear immediately as to who this was; Shiraz Sucrose, the candy-make wizard of Fairy Tail. Marick had never met him of course, but he'd been keeping himself updated on the various guilds in Fiore, and Shiraz had created somewhat of a buzz upon his arrival at Fairy Tail due to his general appearance and personality. "Mr Sucrose, it's good to finally meet you. I've heard only good things about you." he began, before smiling at his Fairy Tail acquaintance. "You'd be correct in that assumption. I've just been waiting for yourself and one other."

No sooner had he said that than a boy came forwards making some kind of a joke or something regarding his cards. Marick didn't know this mage, but he could feel some magic power and he seemed to be interested in the forest itself. "I assume you're also here to deal with those Vulcans?" he continued, but didn't bother to wait for an answer. "Right then, team assembled. Let's deal with these monkeys and get our pay. We'll be home by sundown if we get it done quickly." With that the Solitaire headed into the Spooky Forest. With perhaps the most colourful mage and someone who felt rather dark, this looked like it could be rather an odd mix of mages for the job.

As the trio traversed into the forest the light became more and more blocked out, until there was only a slight glow from the sunlight hitting the leaves of the trees and plants that seemed to engulf them in all directions. Over a short time Marick had begun to feel another presence as well. He suddenly stopped dead and put his hand over his deck of cards. "We're not alone here..." he muttered.

'Monster Dice' :

It seemed that this man, who hadn't introduced himself, knew of him and had heard good things. Shiraz smiled his beautiful little smile and said nothing, but instead turned to the third member of their little monkey-hunting gang. There was a slightly dark aura about him, almost as if he was blood stained. Oh well, they would all be blood stained soon enough. Particularly, because, as the Card Player said, they were not alone. With a roar six vulcans appeared. Four of them appeared to be quite young whilst the other two were a bit older and tougher looking. He'd guess young adults for their age. An interesting amount of opponent's and not something he could take down in a flash. It would take some skill and teamwork to do so. Ah, the beautiful harmony of team work.

Perhaps he could, open up the playing field a bit to give them more room and thus give the vulcans less room to move about in. That seemed an ideal thing to do. He slammed his hands together and spun once. "Candy Make: Flying Saucer." This launched a giant flying saucer candy that was bright pink and razor sharp at one of the vulcans. A couple of them were standing quite close together so he aimed to hit two of them at least.

Unfortunately, for Shiraz anyway, the two vulcans saw the attack coming and leapt to the side to avoid it. The saucer did however slice down a few trees and the shock of it prevented two of the vulcans from moving towards him. The other four however all charged at him aiming to strike at him with fists, head or other body parts. It was not a beautiful display and Shiraz used his elegant movements to dodge their assaults. "Missing is so not beautiful." he said with a sigh.
