Sometimes things that fall apart are actually falling into place

The outburst was short but powerful, and Leon fell silent when he heard Percy apologize as he did. There was really nothing he could do or say to make him feel better, was there? This was really their final day of peace together, and this was how it would end. In his moment of choked clarity, Leon slowly lowered his palms from his eyes and stared at Percy with this sullen and lost look on his face. He couldn't say anything after regaining some semblance of composure. After all, what could he say? They had spent this entire day feeling sorry for themselves, so what was the point of barking up that tree again? He was the only person he cared about, so why wouldn't he enjoy him as much as possible?

Without saying a word, Leon carefully pulled away from Percy and walked over to the wall, flicking the lights off so darkness filled the room. When he walked back over to his bed, he brought Percy with him in one of his gentle but demanding tugs, shuffling the sheets around until his lower body was under the covers and eagerly pulling him into an embrace. He smudged his face against his arm, wiping away his tears and leaving him with slightly pink eyes and a weaker voice.

"I'm still trying to figure out how I feel... about all of this..." Leon muttered, "but I don't regret meeting you either. I'd do it all over again if I could... so..."

Leon's embrace tightened as darkness enveloped them. He loved how Percy smelled, and how perfectly hit seemed to fit in his arms. Why did it have to be like this?

Now that he'd gotten what he ultimately wanted, Percy wasted no time crawling into bed and snuggling into Leon's embrace once it was offered. It was a comfort for both Leon and for himself. Pressing his forehead against Leon's chest, now he could let the moisture leak harmlessly from his right eye down onto the mattress. Arms curling into himself, one hand grabbed the fabric at the front of Leon's shirt into a tightly balled fist. "This is enough," he said softly. It had to be. There was no choice as long as Leon was set on being brought back into his family after the war to be approved of and sold. Percy would just have to take this last thing and treasure it, memorize it. He felt like he'd taken so many things about Leon for granted until now. That's always how it was when you knew you were losing something, right? It was so lame, but he wondered if he could steal a shirt just to conserve his scent for the inevitable hard days that could come. When his thoughts would get away with him and he'd think he was going to crack.

Despite all the swirling feelings, Percy was already feeling the exhaustion pulling him under. He was certainly sad, but it had been quite an emotionally exhausting day. Physically exhausting as well, there at the end. He'd be lying if he didn't say that his thoughts weren't bouncing between the rather large milestone they'd both crossed, which made him blush, and the fact that they'd never see each other soon, which broke his heart. If only he was better at affection, he'd have shown Leon a little more before he fell asleep. He really had found kissing him enjoyable, more than he ever thought he would. Maybe he'd get one more before the ride home.

"Goodnight, Leon," he yawned, already half asleep and mumbling. As he said, for right now, this was enough.
