    Job Rules Zc9p77A

    Performing Jobs

    • Overview: Jobs, as implied by their name, are different roleplay prompts for different kinds of jobs that mages can complete while also being the main source of income and experience for any kind of mage. In order to take on a job on-site, one must select a job appropriate for the alignment and rank of their character from one of the many choices offered in the Job Board and sign up for the job they picked in the sign-up topic located here. As a force of good, members of Legal Guilds cannot embark on Dark Jobs. Guildless Mages and members of Neutral / Independent Guilds can embark on any alignment of job. Members of Dark Guilds may not accept Legal Jobs based on their wanted status as criminals.

Please make sure that you fulfill all requirements necessary for the job before signing up for it, such as being of the correct rank to sign up for the job in question, being of the correct alignment for the job in question, being in the correct guild (in case of guild jobs), or, in the case of job series, having completed the previous job in the series. Once your sign up has been approved by a staff member you can, after completing the word count requirement of the job through roleplay, hand the completed job in for grading in the Job Ending Thread. Once the job has been handed in for grading and a staff member has approved it you will receive EXP and Jewels according to the rank of the job you took and the modifiers that apply. Naturally, job threads adhere to a few rules and limitations which can be found listed below:
      • Rank Requirements: Characters may only go on jobs of their own rank or any rank lower than their own. Characters may go on jobs that are one rank above their own rank only when accompanied by another mage that matches their own rank or is of higher rank than one's own character, on which case both characters must fulfill the requirements to sign up for the job in question. Characters may go on jobs 2 ranks above their own rank only when accompanied by a mentor, the mentor in question needing to be at least of the rank of the job that is being signed up for or higher, with both characters having to fulfill the requirements for the job in question as well. This only applies when just the mentor and their mentee/s participate in a given job together. More information on the Mentor system can be found here.

      • Spawning enemies: Jobs usually differentiate between 4 sets of enemies, if enemies can be encountered. These are Weak, Normal, Strong, and Boss with ascending degrees of strength and difficulty associated with these enemies, each obviously being stronger than the last. The classification of enemies as one of these different strengths, however, should not influence roleplay and is generally meant as nothing more than a guideline as to how difficult a given enemy is to deal with. Enemies may be spawned at the job participants' leisure or may be rolled for using the monster dice. Usually, if job requirements call for it, enemies must be defeated before a job can be handed in, in which case it is advised to pay close attention to the requirements as listed in the job itself and make sure to fulfill those requirements.

      • Word Count: All jobs on FTRP are completed by means of fulfilling a certain word count dependant on the rank of job that is being taken (along any other job-specific requirements a given job may have). If the applicable word count is reached and the job's objectives are fulfilled, the job may be handed in to the Job Ending Thread as specified above. If multiple people are pursuing the same jobs in the same thread the group word count of the job in question must be reached by combining the word count of all players in the thread when handing in the job. The group word count does not have to be evenly split between all participating players as long as the total group word count of the job in question is reached, though, meaning some players may have the ability contribute more to the overall group word count than other participating players (e.g. the total group word count requirement for a job is 7,000 words, with one person writing 3,000 words and the other writing 4,000 words, thus fulfilling the group word count requirement). It is important to note that the maximum number of characters that can go on and sign up for a given job together is 6 at the most, with the exception of Guild Scale Jobs and special Site Events.

    • Additional information:
      • 10y Jobs and 100y Jobs: Characters need to be at least S rank or higher in order to sign up for and complete 10 year or 100 year jobs. The aforementioned limitations about characters being required to be of the same rank or accompanied by another mage do not apply in this case.

      • Word Counts in posts: Whenever you add a roleplay post to a job thread please add the total word count of the post to the post itself in addition to either your total thread word count (the word count of all your own posts added together), the total thread word count (the word count of all posts in the thread added together), or both. Only the word count from actual roleplay posts may be considered for contributing towards the word count goal of the job, not word count from things such as code, templates, et cetera.

      • H Rank (+) Rewards: H rank characters and characters above H rank may choose to forward EXP awarded by a job to receive an additional 100% jewels from completing the job in question. Naturally, this only applies to jobs that award jewels. The jewel increase may stack with other increases to a job's jewel reward, such as lineages, golden lacrimas, et cetera. To exchange an EXP reward for an increased jewel reward one must make a note that they wish to do so when handing in a job.

      • Job Replacements: Sometimes unexpected complications occur when going on a job with others resulting in the inactivity of one or more job participants. In cases such as this one, job participants can perform a re-sign-up in which they replace inactive members with new participants. In such a case, the sign-up must state which player is replacing which player. Players replacing inactive players have the choice between disregarding the word count of the player they are replacing (effectively voiding the word count of the person that is being replaced, meaning their word count does not contribute towards the job's word count) for a full reward when handing in the job or maintaining the word count of the player they are replacing (meaning they may add the player's word count to their own word count). If this option is chosen, however, the player replacing the inactive character will only receive 50% of the job's base EXP instead of a full reward. Both the affected job sign-up and job ending must specify that a replacement occurred if it did, and what kind of replacement has been chosen when submitting the sign-up/ending.

      • Job Re-sign-ups: Sometimes, the parameters of a job change or are changed by the participants on a whim mid-job, which can be accounted for by resubmitting a sign-up for the job in question with the updated information (in cases such as wishing to increase the rank, for example with free form jobs, of the job being taken if eligible, an updated guild, team, mentor, or rival status, or changing the participants of the job, and, in case of guild scale job, wishing to increase or decrease one's own word count). A re-sign up, similar to cancelling a job, may only be done with the agreement of all job participants.

      • Rewards: Jobs, as a general rule, may only ever award jewels OR equipment, not both. If participants wish to receive an equipment reward and the job allows for such an option it must be specified which participants receive jewels and which receive equipment from a job completion when handing a job in to the Job Ending Thread. If participants fail to specify which reward they wish to receive staff will assume that participants wish to receive jewels, meaning they will not receive equipment rewards. Jobs may only offer custom pieces of equipment as rewards and may never offer pre-made equipment (unless the offered equipment is limited to plot only and can never be used in PvP combat).

    EXP Bonuses

    • Overview: All below listed EXP bonuses are mutually exclusive and work of the base exp of a job of that rank. E.g. if one performs a job with a teammate, who is also in the same guild, it would be a 50% increase of the base, not a 25% increase + a 50% increase. The different EXP bonuses that can be gained are listed below. The EXP bonuses listed below, outside of special event items and EXP doublers, are the only way to obtain EXP increases. EXP doublers and event items may be used in conjunction with the EXP increases listed below.
      • Guild Bonus: If two or more participants of a job are part of the same guild all members of the guild receive a 25% bonus to the job's EXP reward.

      • Team Bonus: If two or more participants of a job are part of the same registered team the participants in question receive a 50% bonus to the job's EXP reward. If this reward is received the players who receive it are not eligible for the guild bonus. If a participant is part of the same guild, though not the same team as other participants, that member will still receive the guild bonus (unless part of a separate team within the same job thread). Teams consisting of several players can be registered in the Team Registration Thread.

      • Mentor/Mentee: If a character is accompanied onto a job by their mentor both parties receive a 50% bonus to the job's EXP reward. This reward only applies when just the mentor and their mentee/s are present in the job thread in question. A mentor/mentee relationship between players may be registered in this thread.

    Jewel Bonuses

    • Overview: Below listed are ways to increase the jewels that are awarded by jobs. Unlike EXP increases, the methods listed below can and will all stack with each other when applied to the jewel reward of a completed job.
      • Lineages: Some Lineages (like e.g. Gold Rush) can increase jewel rewards from jobs. This ability can be added to custom lineages as well, but is limited to a fixed 100% increase to jewel rewards at max and cannot exceed that amount unless special circumstances apply.

      • Golden Lacrima: Purchasing a Golden Lacrima in the General Store section of the site will increase jewel rewards from jobs by 25% for a limited time. Golden Lacrimas last for 365 days until they expire and are locked to their respective account. Upon or after purchase, Golden Lacrimas may be traded up to once to prevent them from being traded back and forth in an attempt to circumvent this rule.

      • Mentor/Mentee: Completing a job in a mentor/mentee pairing increases the number of Jewels both participants receive from successfully completing said job by 100%. This reward only applies when just the mentor and their mentee/s are present in the job thread in question.

      • H Rank (+) Rewards: As mentioned above, characters of H rank and above may choose to give up the EXP reward from a completed job to increase the jewel reward of said job by 100%. More information on this particular increase can be found mentioned above under "Additional information".

    Job Types

    • Overview: Below you will find details about the different types of jobs a player can take. All of these job types are mutually exclusive, though all follow the same general guidelines and job rules as specified above.
      • Regular Jobs: Regular jobs are your standard type of jobs, following a set roleplay prompt that the characters who participate in the job pursue in addition to the job's goals that the participants attempt to achieve. As mentioned above, when a job's objective is completed and the job in question in submitted for grading by a staff member the participants gain experience (EXP) and Jewels according to the description of the job they have taken on if successfully completed.

      • International Jobs: International jobs are much like your standard jobs, with the obvious difference being that these kinds of jobs take place outside of Fiore. International jobs sometimes award special rewards, such as reputation within the nation they take place in and require a character to have obtained a passport before they can be taken. A passport can be obtained by successfully completed the "To Earthland and Beyond!" job.

      • Questlines/Job Series: Sometimes jobs are part of a larger questline or series of jobs, spanning multiple jobs to achieve an overarching goal with different stages of the job series unlocked different rewards and access to the next part of the questline. These jobs, individually, follow the same rules as other jobs, though as mentioned before, one or more participants must have completed the previous part of a questline or job series for a party to sign up for the part following that one.

      • Guild Jobs: Guild jobs are, in most cases, jobs that are specifically tailored to the interests, goals and/or plot of a specific guild and can only be taken by members of said guild, or if a member of said guild present. These jobs generally follow the guidelines for normal jobs, but any rewards beyond the appropriate jewel or item reward for a job of a given rank (such as reputation within the guild, obtaining a certain in-character rank within the guild, advancement into another section of the guild etc.) is up to the guild master/s to determine. Guild jobs may only be created and approved with the explicit permission of the guild master/s of said guild.

      • Character Jobs: Character jobs are jobs that can be, in all possible ways, specifically tailored to your character, your character's plot, and their personality, even down to the rewards. Character jobs must be made using the job creation system and follow the rules for normal jobs (as well as the CoC), but offer an extreme degree of customizability in return. Character jobs may only be signed up for by one or more specific character/s or if said character/s is/are present in the party of job participants.

    Guild Scale Jobs

    • Overview: Guild Scale jobs are, as the name indicates, jobs or guild plots pursued by the majority or a portion of a given guild at the same time. These jobs must be signed up for and completed by at least 5 members of the given guild, and the number of participants, in any given, case must not fall below 5 members. There is, however, no upper limit on how many participants can enter a Guils Scale job at the same time. Guild Scale jobs may only be created and submitted for approval by or with the permission of the guild master/s.
      • Completing Guild Scale jobs: Word Counts for Guild Scale jobs are based on participants. Players participating in a Guild Scale job have the choice between completing the solo word count of a job of any rank lower than their own rank, a job of their own rank, or one rank above their own rank, and will be rewarded according to the word count of the rank of job chosen. The word count is then added into a pool, which is comprised of the combined word count set by the individual participants as their goal upon sign up and then multiplied by 0.75x (e.g. 5 players sign up for a guild scale, 2 of which choose C rank word count, which is 1,500 words, another 2 choose B rank word count, which is 3,500 words, and 1 more chooses S rank word count, which is 8,000 words. These word counts are then added together, resulting in 18,000 words total. This total is then multiplied by 0.75x, in this case, 18,000 x 0.75 = 13,500 Words). This pool is set as the total group word count the participants of the thread must reach in order to successfully complete the Guild Scale job before it can be turned in. Participants will receive EXP according to the rank of job they set for themselves upon sign-up for the Guild Scale job. Regardless of this rule, all participants must visibly contribute towards the completion of the Guild Scale job in question as much as they can. Attempting to loophole this rule will result in one or multiple warnings to the participants involved depending on the circumstances.

      • Guild Scale Rewards: Participants of a Guild Scale job will receive jewels according to the rank of job they have chosen upon successfully completing the Guild Scale job. The guild itself will receive 250,000 Jewels + 50,000 Jewels for every member of the guild who successfully completes the guild scale job.

    Job Creation Rules

    • Overview: Members can use our job creation system to create their own jobs following the rules for jobs as specified above. Jobs can be created at any rank and follow the word counts as well as rewards that are listed for jobs in the Tables and FAQ section of the rules. Jobs that can be created by members are Regular Jobs, International Jobs, Questlines/Job Series, and Character Jobs. With special permission from their guild master/s, members may also create Guild Jobs and Guild Scale Jobs. Below you will find more information about the job creation process.
      • Making a Job: To create a job, simply copy the Job Creation Template and create a new thread in the appropriate section in the Job Creation Subforum (Place Normal Jobs, International Jobs, and Questlines / Job Series in "WIP Normal Jobs", Character Jobs in "WIP Character Jobs", and Guild Jobs as well as Guild Scale Jobs in "WIP Guild Jobs"). Fill out the sections of the template with your desired job specifications and hand them in to the Job Creation Approval Thread, where a staff member will then claim and grade your job/s before moving them to the approved job section. As soon as your job is approved and reposted by a staff member in the appropriate section of the forum, you (and others, depending on the type of job) may sign up for and complete your job.
