    Magic

    Magic Name: Thread magic
    Magic Type:

    • Prevalent: Lost Magic
    • Auxiliary: Requip Magic

    Description: Thread magic utilizes both physical and conceptual threads. These threads serve different functions in both the instruction and application of the magic. Physical threads are the easiest to manifest and have the most uses for combat and other mundane tasks. It is a physical thread which shall bind or cut an opponent, and it is a physical thread which shall make new clothing or tapestry. Conceptual threads use the true abilities gifted by this magic, powers over time. While a physical thread may cut or bind a conceptual thread will show the timeline of an individual, an object, a place, or even a concept to the user. This allows the user to mold the thread in various ways depending on their skill, moving the current point on the thread up or down, moving the thread forward or backwards in time. This allows for localized and individualized changes in an object or persons placement on their timeline, creating interesting changes. One could have just died, but by moving them back they will come back, but now potentially without what killed them in place, or one could move another forward in time to help them avoid an obstacle or change locations quickly. Potentially this magic has no weakness, and any weaknesses possessed by the magic belong to the user alone, creating an interesting dynamic for those who are taught its secrets.

    Strengths:

    • Precision Devastation: Erika’s thread magic, despite potentially appearance is based off controlling every thread individually to attack and deal damage, even if they are stronger together. This allows for even area attacks to have a level of precision about them.

    • Domination: Erika can control her thread magic with but a thought, allowing for her to make well complicated movements quickly.

    • No Weaknesses: Thread magic has no inherent weaknesses in the magic, instead those are purely of the users, (mostly just an aesthetic strength).


    Weaknesses:

    • No Element: Erika’s Thread magic has no elemental advantages applied to it, making it just based off raw damage and effects rather than any intrinsic advantage.

    • Limited Status Effects: Erika’s thread magic doesn’t contain too many status effects, beyond immobilization, making damage and locking down the basic elements of this magic.

    • Viewpoints: Peering too far into the past or future can cause Erika to become exhausted (mostly just an aesthetic weakness).

    Unique Abilities:

    • Interwoven: Erika can alter her body into the very physical threads which make up her magic. These threads are as strong and durable as 50% of a spells power of her rank (up to H-Rank). Should Erika use these threads to form a spell or combine them with a spell, the threads are only 50% the power of that spells rank, though only the threads used for the spell are affected by this condition (not all threads under Erika’s control). In addition, Erika can create these threads around her as well, following the same rules as above, using burst ranges and speeds for her rank (default baselines for H-Rank). Finally, Erika can turn any non-magical object, aka one that isn’t a registered creation, into her own threads. All threads created by this ability can count as a part of her body or not. Whenever Erika leaves a current topic, or all threads the topic took place in, said objects return to normal, though they might be out of place.

    • History: With gifted insight Erika can see into the history of anything she touches, be it by physically touching or touching it with her threads. Whenever Erika or her threads contact a spell, ability, or piece of equipment she can learn the history of said spell, ability, or equipment. This allows Erika to know the details of what in question was touched, effectively letting her know the applications details mechanically. In addition to this, outside of combat Erika can learn the history of an area she is residing in, though she can only learn of the events that another player has participated in with their out of character permission.

    • Timeline: Erika can manipulate her own time to decrease others effects upon her, or in some cases make them increase her power instead. Should Erika spend the same amount of MP used in the creation of the de-buff, then any de-buff applied to Erika can be reversed into a buff with half the potency of the de-buff, so a 50% decrease to speed would become a 25% increase to speed. In addition, all status effects (such as paralysis) half their durations halved when affecting Erika. In addition, whenever Erika uses this effect she may teleport up to 100 meters from her current location. Finally, any magical nullifying of cancelling effect simply makes her magic operate at 50% efficiency.

    • Erosion: With ferocity Erika’s threads can undo the fabric of time on whatever they touch. Whenever Erika’s threads contact anything that has a duration her threads decrease said duration by 1 post, to a minimum of 1 post. This effect can only be trigger on something once per post. Due to this property Erika’s own threads are protected from having their duration reduced, or their current timer increased so long as Erika pays the same amount of MP in the effects cost.

    • Perpetual Vigilance: Able to passively see into the potential futures around her, Erika has a perception of reality that many will never experience. Erika no longer requires a moment to think before using any of her abilities, or potentially dodging an opponent attack etc. In no way does this mean she is guaranteed to avoid an attack or isn’t limited to her normal senses range, it just means she doesn’t require a delay to react. Despite this every action she makes, is as if she thought of it ahead of time, (so still intelligent etc.) she just, again, doesn’t have to take the time to think all of it up. Whenever she is using this ability her magical power feels non-existent to sense.

    • Past, Present, Future: By having a potent connection to the flow of time Erika can draw power from her past and future selves to increase her current magical abilities. The trade off to this power increase is the strain of drawing such power into her body weakens her physical strength. Erika has a flat increase of 20 to all magical damage, however she has a decrease of 20 base damage to melee damage as her body struggles to contain without becoming weaker.

    • Conceptually Interwoven: Able to fight through any form of adversity, the threads Erika produces can cut at time itself to increase her damaging power. Erika can alter her body to those of conceptual threads. These threads are as strong and durable as 50% of a spells power of her rank (up to H-Rank). Should Erika use these threads to form a spell or combine them with a spell, the threads are only 50% the power of that spells rank, though only the threads used for the spell are affected by this condition (not all threads under Erika’s control). Weaving her magic through the entire area, and ‘fabric’ of her opponents and clients lives, Erika forms a double layer of integration. She isn’t about directly confronting you with full power, but rather slowly letting you fall into her own devices, be it by purchasing or requesting her textile skills, or by being foolish enough to walk in blindly against this most unique of magic’s. Whatever the case though Erika always likes to impress, and this is why Thread magic with her isn’t obvious in its use, as her view of impressing is by beating you without you ever knowing what she was capable of, or if you ever truly stood a chance against her well-sewn plans.

    • Over Time: Users of this magic can manipulate all manner of “threads” (see descrption) perfectly around them without any conscious thought, or physical exertion. Users can also change the color of any threads they are controlling.


    Weaknesses:

    • Catalyst Based: alone the spells from this magic, typically require threads around for the spells to work, making her abilities have to synchronize most of the time, to make full use of them all.

    • Lack of Simple AOE’s: Thread magic is more precise then most other magic’s, instead of pure easy AOE fireballs, or earthquakes, thread magic tends to lead to more precise blows, or simply control from various angles rather than just raw throw and forget tactics.

    • High control based: Thread magic is highly control based, which means the user needs to know what they are doing and what needs to get done, it’s a precise magic, and not for the unskilled. This magic isn’t just fire and forget.

    • Creative: Creativity can be a weakness, as it’s not just a point and click based magic, and when simple force is needed, or a simple solution is needed this magic may end up letting the user down, as they will need to make the effort far more convoluted than it had to be in the first place.

    Unique Abilities:

    • Stitched Together: Erika’s body has been modified to the point where she can form it into threads as will. These threads are as durable and powerful as her rank (but not for spells, they have their own rank), and have the same strengths and weaknesses as the magic itself. Whatever part of her body is turned into threads, doesn’t have its “normal” bodily function impeded in any way, and functions as normal, though she doesn’t need to breathe and can live in a vacuum environment. In addition, Erika can create threads freely from her body, using the same rules as previously stated in the ability.

    • Reality Blink: Erika can manipulate the continuity of a certain area that her threads “touch”. This allows for her to affect a local time line in an interesting way, manipulating it by a small amount of seconds at a time. Erika can manipulate her own flow of time, allowing for her to go 5 seconds into the past or five seconds into the future. This ability also allows for her to view up to 5 seconds into the potential future, this is limited to her perspective however, so it isn’t omnipotent seeing. Whenever she goes backwards or forwards in time she maintains her memories of current events happening.

    • Omnipotent Sewing: Erika has effectively woken up her own abilities with threads and strings, to the point where she can turn an everyday object into the perfect weapon. Erika can turn any object without a profile (aka tree’s, the ground, coffee pots, tea cups, etc.) into threads using the same rules (aka description) for stitched together. She can’t do this to objects with a profile (weapons, armor, items, PC’s, NPC’s with a profile etc.). In addition she can re attach limbs, or re insert organs into all kinds of organic life using her threads. While this doesn’t recover their HP this does allow them to use said part again, even if she puts it in the “wrong place” on “accident”.

    • Warped Timeline: Erika’s manipulation over the past present and all in-between lets her pull off a few neat tricks here and there, and not just by changing someone’s clothing of choice. De-buff’s applied to Erika can be reversed into a buff with half the potency of the de buff, (so a 50% decrease to speed would become a 25% increase to speed), and all status effects (such as paralysis) half their durations halved when affecting Erika. These effects only apply to Spell/abilities/equipment/lineages originally Erika’s rank or lower, or originally one rank higher but in that case the de buff will only be negated and not give her any form of reversal buff. In addition Erika isn’t affected by foreign time based effects (such as stopping time {but not damage from the effects}) equal to her rank, and is only half affected by those originally one rank higher than her.

    • Time Erosion: Erika’s thread’s rust away the fabric of time within an area that they strike, corroding the longevity of objects. All threads that Erika is manipulating can decrease the duration of a spell/ability/lineage by 1 post every time said threads hit said spell/ability/lineage. This doesn’t decrease the cooldowns post count, merely the duration, (so if someone has a duration of 2 posts and they used it for one post (aka the post they activated it in, and then it was hit by Erika’s threads it would end). Erika can only decrease a spells duration by 1 post once per thread she is manipulating, down to a minimum of one post (so she can’t cancel instant or 1 post durations). This affect can apply to multiple spells/abilities/lineages per post, but it can’t apply to the same spell/ability/lineage more than once per post. In order for this effect to work the spells/abilities/lineage in question must be equal in rank or lower to the threads that Erika is using, so typically her rank, with the exclusion of her spells which are the same rank as the spell rank. This effect applies on hit, it doesn’t need to deal damage, however effects that just apply to her and can’t be hit can be affected by this ability, but only those upon her. To apply this effect to spells add 5% to the spells cost unless the spells cost is 0%, in which case no cost is added onto the spell, however the cost must naturally be 0% (aka using a D rank spell at S rank).

    • Lack of Simple AOE’s: Thread magic is more precise then most other magic’s, instead of pure easy AOE fireballs, or earthquakes, thread magic tends to lead to more precise blows, or simply control from various angles rather than just raw throw and forget tactics.

    • High control based: Thread magic is highly control based, which means the user needs to know what they are doing and what needs to get done, it’s a precise magic, and not for the unskilled. This magic isn’t just fire and forget.

    • Creative: Creativity can be a weakness, as it’s not just a point and click based magic, and when simple force is needed, or a simple solution is needed this magic may end up letting the user down, as they will need to make the effort far more convoluted than it had to be in the first place.

    Unique Abilities:

    • Stitched Together: Erika’s body has been modified to the point where she can form it into threads as will. These threads are as durable and powerful as her rank (but not for spells, they have their own rank), and has the same strengths and weaknesses as the magic itself. Whatever part of her body is turned into threads, doesn’t have its “normal” bodily function impeded in any way, and functions as normal, though she doesn’t need to breathe and can live in a vacuum environment. In addition, Erika can create threads freely from her body/within the area, using the same rules as previously stated in the ability.

    • Reality Blink: Erika can manipulate the continuity of a certain area that her threads “touch”. This allows for her to affect a local time line in an interesting way, manipulating it by a small amount of seconds at a time. Erika can manipulate her own flow of time, allowing for her to go 5 seconds into the past or five seconds into the future. This ability also allows for her to view up to 5 seconds into the potential future, this is limited to her perspective however, so it isn’t omnipotent seeing. Whenever she goes backwards or forwards in time she maintains her memories of current events happening. This ability can’t reset cooldowns/durations, but it can restore other factors such as MP or HP, but only that which was lost during the 5 second interval.

    • Omnipotent Sewing: Erika has effectively woken up her own abilities with threads and strings, to the point where she can turn an everyday object into the perfect weapon. Erika can turn any object without a profile (aka tree’s, the ground, coffee pots, tea cups, etc.) into threads using the same rules (aka description) for stitched together. She can’t do this to objects with a profile (weapons, armor, items, PC’s, NPC’s with a profile etc.). In addition, she can re attach limbs, or re insert organs into all kinds of organic life using her threads. While this doesn’t recover their HP this does allow them to use said part again, even if she puts it in the “wrong place” on “accident”.

    • Warped Timeline: Erika’s manipulation over the past present and all in-between lets her pull off a few neat tricks here and there, and not just by changing someone’s clothing of choice. De-buffs applied to Erika can be reversed into a buff with half the potency of the de buff, (so a 50% decrease to speed would become a 25% increase to speed) if Erika spends the same amount of MP used in the creation of the de-buff (in the case of it costing 0%MP it will cost her 1% MP), and all status effects (such as paralysis) half their durations halved when affecting Erika. These effects only apply to Spell/abilities/equipment/lineages originally Erika’s rank or lower. In addition, Erika can null a foreign based time effect (such as stopping time for example {but not damage from the effects}) equal to her rank, and is only half affected by those originally one rank higher than her. To null effects, she must spend the same amount of MP used in the creation of the effect, or 1% in the case of it costing 0% MP.

    • Time Erosion: Erika’s thread’s rust away the fabric of time within an area that they strike, corroding the longevity of objects. All threads that Erika is manipulating can decrease the duration of a spell/ability/lineage by 1 post every time said threads hit said spell/ability/lineage. This doesn’t decrease the cooldowns post count, merely the duration, (so if someone has a duration of 2 posts and they used it for one post (aka the post they activated it in, and then it was hit by Erika’s threads it would end). Erika can only decrease a spells duration by 1 post once per thread she is manipulating, down to a minimum of one post (so she can’t cancel instant or 1 post durations). This affect can apply to multiple spells/abilities/lineages per post, but it can’t apply to the same spell/ability/lineage more than once per post. In order for this effect to work the spells/abilities/lineage in question must be equal in rank or lower to the threads that Erika is using, so typically her rank, with the exclusion of her spells which are the same rank as the spell rank. This effect applies on hit, it doesn’t need to deal damage, however effects that just apply to her and can’t be hit can be affected by this ability, but only those upon her. To apply this effect to spells, add 5% to the spells cost unless the spells cost is 0%, in which case no cost is added onto the spell, however the cost must naturally be 0% (aka using a D rank spell at S rank).
