The Despairful Revival of The Djinn Empty The Despairful Revival of The Djinn

Post by Luard 6th December 2016, 1:24 pm

Luard was born into a life of seclusion. For many generations before his time, the people of their past village were befallen with a curse. Like a vampire they would suck away magic energy innately and because of this they were banished from anywhere they went. Their long struggle had led them to take it upon themselves and increase their strength and adaptability claiming their own homes. This was in the Cursed Lands, very befitting those who dealt with those of the curse would say. But starting with nothing never stopped them, the many families thrived with this lifestyle and survived for centuries. Due to the dangerous terrain and creatures lurking about they learn to protect themselves as well as gaining natural strength and skills to live, so any who are born there become fine and smart warriors.

Leading into Luard's early life, it was spent more on the alone side. His parents were both left with bitter illness and he was left in the care of his uncle. Apparently the most well renounced magic scientist in the village, apparently through the many years many generations have studied an interesting tomb from even earlier than their time. It speaks of a man strong enough to even be labeled a god, and so that is what he became to those given such cruel fates by that known as god. Many spent their life into the grave trying to learn all they could. It wasn't till the last decade that the majority of his legacy was depicted. The great and almighty, King Solomon, lead an army of elemental beings of protection known as the Djinn. To conquer the lands from this land claiming complete siege. Throughout his existence those guardians were his loyal servants and he never once fell in battle. The tale goes on to end with his wish to pass down those who come across this land and follow suit to those with strong enough wills to care on his reign.

This however was much easier said than done, these beings were of higher stature then us humans and not but vague translations gave any hints towards it. But that never stopped the eager people wanting to fulfil the plea of their deity. Many experiments and calculations were run, with Luard's parents being the head engineers to their discoveries he was often told tales of their findings. It made him oddly happy to get to be apart of the family he so often missed. Not to mention, due to the importance among the village of finding these secrets it lead Luard to be put on a pedestal from the other kids. His uncle was a genius to the mark and he was on a chosen path to fulfil his work to compensate for his burden.

There was but one person who treated him as anything but a future superiority or subject. She was a girl of two-year age difference and the daughter of a close family friend. If it wasn't for her, Luard's early years would have been much more blank. While she acted like a big sister, Luard admired her deeply for being able to see the true worth within him besides the next in line. Even when he himself was put in mental experiments with many hours of study and deep meditation from his uncle, always stating for the benefit of the land and their legacy, she could cheer him with swiftness.

While no major harm had been done throughout his early years physically, the heavy burden continued to grow entering his early teen years. That was when things hit a rough patch, Luard had begun coming along with his uncle to his lab and also often visits to Solomon's Shrine. He bared witness to many unspeakable things and things that far past his understanding, while he grew a fascination for magic due to this, a strong hatred for science followed. His childhood friend could see this and promised together they would leave this land, like many others have. The world has once again accepting of their tribe, but there were those that still couldn't forgive their ancestor's struggles. But the world was much more vast and the two dreamed to go off and explore it.

Their time to do so was drawing near, just one more year and the two would go. But not long after the biggest breakthrough of the decade had been realised, due to the work of science with magic at the lead they were able to create a system to allow one to enter the link between the Djinn. What was beyond this technology was a deal of mystery, during every test simulation it worked without flaw for any of them to access, but the human nature cannot be decided by science alone. This however was Luard's destiny, whether he wanted it or not, to see through the end product of his uncle's work. His entire life had led up to this point but with the recent years and the bond he grew, he had to admit the feeling of regret while going in.

However coming out the process was a complete success, his mind was able to become one with the Djinn and the pact was formed. They said Luard had been out for days but the proud faces around him at the creation was obvious. With all of their glee they quickly began to push this development even further, but with success came eagerness. While still recovering he found out that his childhood friend would be the next to enter the transformation, with such little mental fortitude they knew the probabilities of what could happen but did it anyway. By the time Luard arrived it was too late, she wasn't unconscious but her body was began a slow and painful morph. With nothing but emotion he broke in and went to her aid while his uncle and his team fled.  She could barely form sentences over the screams, the one thing he was able to read out was her request of death and the sweet words he had always hoped to hear from her.

Being unable to do so, he was left with nothing but the ability to walk back in terror. Before his eyes the one he cared for most had left and in her wake was that of a demon. It broke through the ceiling and Luard began a chase after his uncle seeing that as his ownly hope. He pleaded and begged them for help, but as scientists they only admitted their failure and told him to leave this place with them leaving this failure behind. In that moment the look in his eyes were one of pure blankness, without even realizing it his frustration let out the Djinn from within and before him they all fell.

Having taken action now, he couldn't back away any more, he turned his back towards them and went to the surface. By the time he was outside the village was in ruin, the smell of smoke and blood sprayed through the air with fire quenching the vegetation and wood. The sight before him only got worse when he saw the remains of his cherished friend, he couldn't even speak of what he saw.  Luard's transformation activated without a second thought and he rushed headstrong into a cataclysmic battle, one where she was hell-bent on destruction, while he was doing everything in his power to diminish her transformation and hold the demon down. It wasn't until the roaring of Luard's cries gave lapse, the look in her eyes had returned but they screamed to for an end. With no other choice but to fulfil her last request, a violent yell  of sadness was all that was left for the two to share. The smile leaving her face wouldn't last long, the Djinn was not prepared to go so easily, using all of his power to land a chop to the back of Luard's head, nearly cracking it open. Both of them fell that day.

When Luard awoke nothing but blood and ruin was around, his memories were very little and everything within him empty, feeling nothing. No one around him, and the strange scar left on his head tingled as it was still tender. With nothing to go off of but a strong will to leave this place, he entered society as a vagabond. Learning things about the land and searching for reason, however he couldn't shake what was in his lost past it haunted him frequently in his dreams, seeing odd and terrifying images. But every time it gives him something to hold onto, but many, many more questions each time. Picking up trade from books and small interactions with others, he created the Luard that stands here today. Focusing not only on redesigning but also rebuilding the things that lay dormant within him, then maybe all of this fear and sorrow will one day leave him...
