And while you are sitting indoors
waiting for the storm to pass
I will be outside dancing in the rain

She always seemed to end up in Magnolia Town for some reason. Mostly up until this point it had been for jobs or continuing to come back to the children’s hospital to perform for them, keeping the promise she made all those months ago to entrain and sit with them whenever she had free time. But this time it was neither of those. Once again she planned on doing a street performance, trying to dwindle down her stage fright while also making a name for herself. Not that she wasn’t well known here, she actually was quite popular within the town. Especially among the children. Because of this Astrid had almost chosen another place to do the performance, figuring elsewhere would be better at gathering a crowd of new faces. But something about Magnolia Town stuck out in her mind, she couldn’t shake the feeling she was supposed to perform here on this certain day, a gut feeling, as it’s called. The dragon slayer couldn’t ignore the feeling, even though she tried to at first. So instead she pushed aside her mind and went with her heart, taking the train here anyway. It was no big deal, it wasn’t like she wasn’t going to be able to perform in different places anytime soon. The next town could wait a little bit.

After a while of sitting at the train station, swallowing down the vile feeling within her body as her motion sickness faded the violinist took off, though a little woozy at first, to try and find a good spot to do a performance. One with as many people as she could find.
It didn’t take her long to remember there was park within this town, one that was big and popular enough to make a decently sized crowd of people.
The violinist’s light crimson gaze traveled upwards as she studied the gigantic tree in front of her located within the center of the park, standing in awe at its looming size and sturdy structure. Magnolia always did have some of the most beautiful plants around, though with a name like Magnolia the pretty nature around here made sense.
Ajar mouth closing into a small smile Astrid bent down to her knees slowly and placed her black stickered violin case down upon the ground, flipping open the silver locks grooved into its side, revealing the polished, wooden violin. Placing her hand under the neck she pulled both it and the bow from their snug positions within the fabric interior.
Standing back to her feet the light mage shook her head lightly to move her long silver hair to her back, making sure it wouldn’t get in her way. And with a pause as she placed the instrument under her chin, she lifted her bow, feeling the cooling breeze run over her body, ruffling her hair and clothes, before she finally rubbed it across the strings, beginning to play a small, soothing tone. Instantly people were attracted to the sweet melody, beginning to walk over and watch her play. She could feel their stares, and it tensed her arms. But she kept her gaze to the ground, concentrating on her music, allowing the tenseness to melt off her muscles.
She had much more in store for them. Some may know it already if they had seen her other performances, and some may not. But what she lived for wasn’t for their surprise for familiarity. It was for their joy.

~ What a beautiful melody, what a brave soul ~
in you and i, there's a new land

There was something about Magnolia Town today that seemed to mesmerize Euphemia's attention and imagination... Something that persuaded her inner being to be drawn here, and gaze upon the scenery of the peaceful South Gate Park. Carrying her violin case that carried something so precious, the young woman didn't dare hide herself under the cloak she normally found herself blending in with the outdoors. The blonde felt there was no need to hide away from the outside world today, for she had a good feeling that the sunny day would provide her the chance to breathe.

The chance to enjoy what time she had left in this quaint town before moving on yet again to a different place.

Taking in a subtle breath and closing her eyes, the mage exhaled slowly as she let the wind carry her breath away. Euphemia's eyes opened in the slightest as she was drifting off into her world of imagination, almost becoming lost in her daydream. If one looked close enough into her pair of blue eyes, perhaps the faintest of reflections of what was going on inside her mind would become visible. Alas, such a chance was short lived when the young woman heard a sound that was all too familiar.

Such a sound... Such a tune... The pitch, the voice... was all too beautiful each and every single time a note kissed her eardrums.

    "A... violin?"

Euphemia's attention was immediately captured, the young mage following the groups of people that seemed to be drawn to the sound - and she was definitely one of them. With her violin case close to her, gripped tightly in hand, the curious blonde found herself in the middle of a crowd gazing upon the source of such an enchanting melody. It was a young woman, or was it a teenager...? Tilting her head, a pair of vibrant blue orbs carefully observed the performer's every move while paying attention to every note that echoed throughout the world around them.

    And it amazed her.

How this violinist could play in front of this many people when she never could... How she could handle the stress of so many eyes upon her all at once... How did she do it? How did she manage to overcome such a dangerous bout of stage fright that proved so troublesome; especially if you were a performing musician of all things?

"Truly spectacular...", she muttered to herself, head still tilted as she held her violin case close to her being.

And while you are sitting indoors
waiting for the storm to pass
I will be outside dancing in the rain

The slayer's eyes lifted from the ground below, looking out into the gathering crowd as she continued her playing. It seems as though she had managed to gather a decent amount of people. Some she recognized, some she didn't. It was a rather good mix of both.
It was finally large enough for her to change things up a bit.
The mage paused her playing by leaving her bow upon the strings, eyes closing in concentration. With a deep breath, after a brief moment of silence she would begin playing again. But this time, her feet would move in time with the music. It had taken her a long time to be comfortable with dancing while playing, it was no something she did when she first began playing the violin. But after enough lessons with Elyx she could see why he did. While it did take a lot of concentration to do both, if you just let the melody carry your legs for you it was almost like they moved by themselves. It was refreshing, no longer only having to stand and play like a stiff board. She could move about, which only gave her even more energy to play. Why she didn't start this early was a question even she couldn't answer. She had never even thought about double tasking while playing when she was younger. But now it came to her so naturally, like breathing. It was strange to think she ever use to play so blandly without any flare at all...

Her body swayed with the song, clicking her boots against the ground, kicking up tiny grains of dirt as she did. She was in full performance mode. The entire world could be falling down around her, and yet she would not move. She was too enveloped in the sweet melody of the violin.
Some of the people in the crowd began to chatter among themselves, either asking who she was or singing her praises. A few even informed the uninformed, as if they were apart of some fan club for her or something.
The name 'Astrid Foss' was getting tossed around left and right. Exactly what she hoped for.
With a smile etched across her lips, she knew it was time for the climax.
The violin began to shine with a strange golden energy. With it, little golden dandelions began sprouting out of the ground, reaching just a little above the crowd's feet. Each one popped out and started swaying in time with the music almost like they were actually dancing along with her. The crowd cooed in surprise, looking down around their feet.
Then, the song ended. With the final stroke across the strings Astrid gave the dandelions the signal. On que, the flowers released their soft seeds into the air, sending the fluffy light-made spots into the sky. They floated away with the breeze off into the sky.
Astrid stopped her dancing in a bowed position as the dandelion stems retracted into he ground, breathing heavily. The crowd bursted out into cheers and clapping, tossing jewels and other various things in joy at the land around her. Even a bright red rose, which Astrid managed to catch without a problem, straightening her posture back up to land her gaze upon it as she fiddled with the stem.
While still catching her breath the musician gave another bow, holding her violin and bow close to her chest to make sure she didn't drop them. Popping back up she would hold her gaze on the crowd, watching their smiling faces as they either left or stayed to chat to other people within the group.
Another successful performance. Magnolia Town sure was her lucky town.
She smiled to herself, bringing the rose up to her nose to give it a small sniff.
    Sweet.

    ~ It's gonna be okay... ~
in you and i, there's a new land

    Breathless...

Euphemia could have sworn that she felt a hefty breath escape her in the midst of the crowd she was mixed in. Her orbs curiously lit up in the moment and melodies of the music playing, the music carrying such an effect on her that it caused a cascade of goosebumps along her skin. The young mage's lips parted in the trance she was placed, her ears solely focused on each and every note birthed within the world in this very moment. The musician would guess at each note's pitch, the tempo of the melody, but before the blonde could even gather as to what the origin of such a tune might be from...

    The performer started to dance.

Euphemia along with others seemed to create sounds of awe at the sight before them. Never had the young woman even pictured herself dancing let alone even made an attempt at it. She was but a shy young individual in the world, carrying no potential of magic within her. She was but a self-proclaimed 'mage' to hide herself from those seeking to pursue her, and in the short periods of freedom... saw that performing regularly was a way to not only relieve the worries within her, but to lift up the spirits of others in the world that needed the hand to guide them upwards.

She was nothing impressive. Euphemia saw herself as nothing but a hindrance upon the land's soil... A vessel tired of her lifestyle that she was currently living. If the blonde even allowed herself a moment to rest, her thoughts would consume her and any amount of positivity that she had left. Every inch, every ounce, every drop would disappear within seconds... And for all she hypothesized, that would have been the end of everything she knew in this world.

It was this performance that caused her to think of such things, to remind herself of what exactly would happen if she ever gave in... It was this that Euphemia's pair of blue orbs began to glimmer as tears began to border her eyes. She hadn't realized how much she had been keeping in, how much she had sacrificed her own emotions for the sake of others, and how she herself had put up with all the chasing and running to get nowhere so far... She had only been avoiding the possibility of a catastrophe.

The song, the melody, the emotion...

It was all slowly letting the veil down that was her emotions.

~ Note: I'm sorry this took so long! Work has been driving me and my muse into the ground... But I got this out for you! I'm truly and deeply sorry, Ami. :c ~

And while you are sitting indoors
waiting for the storm to pass
I will be outside dancing in the rain

It took a while for the crowd to thin out. After the group of people either ended their conversations amongst themselves or tore away their looks of awe the park once again went back to its original state almost instantly. Quiet and serene as the audience carried on their daily lives, though maybe with a more noticeable spring in their steps.
As soon as the majority of the crowd finally left Astrid began to pack up, closing the violin case and flipping the silver locks down to keep it firmly shut. She also placed some of the jewels the people had tossed around her feet into a small, cloth sack, figuring it was better to do that than just leave them here out in the open. She wouldn't spend the money herself. Most likely she would give it out evenly to the local hospitals, orphanages, and other organizations that accepted donations. God knows they needed it more than she did.
Tightening the string around the neck of the small bag the ace shoved it into her pocket before swinging the leather strap of the violin case around her chest, allowing it to fit snugly around her body.
It was then, that she noticed the girl.
The only one from the audience that was still left. She continued to stand and stare, blue optics shining as tears reflected the light, causing them to stand out more than usual. She was... Crying...
The light mage stared at the blonde, crimson eyes wide and filled with worry, afraid something might have happened to her. But then she realized... She was not on the brink of tears from anything that hurt her. She was crying, from the performance. There was a great difference between the two. And in this case, it was unmistakable.
... Is this what she had looked like when Elyx had first preformed for her? No, maybe not. She had been even more of a mess, sobbing into her own hands as all her emotions came rushing out at once. But this girl, she was holding strong. She was not allowing the tears to fall down her face. She was holding them back.

A small smile taking over thin lips the musician stepped slowly towards the blonde until she was just a few inches from her. If the girl did not flinch away from her touch, Astrid would rise a hand and use a thumb to gently wipe away one of the built up tears in her blue eyes, offering a soft expression.
"It's okay to let your emotions out, you know?" The dragon slayer told in a sweet voice, retracing her arm back to her side.
"If you keep them bottled up, then who knows what will happen when they finally force their way out."

Flickering her gaze down to the blonde's hands it rested upon the violin case within her grasp before looking back.
"... Isn't that why we play?"

    ~ Why we play... ~

    @ Astrid

    ----

Euphemia had no idea the performance had ended. She had no idea the crowd around her disappeared. The woman couldn't make sense of anything. It was as if she muted the world completely around her, unable to see or hear. It was as if in the moment her senses had been robbed of her forever, her breath almost being held inside in fear of releasing a wave of tears. Her eyes were blocked by a veil of a soft, watery blur that made it impossible to focus. It wasn't until the blonde felt the soft skin of a hand that she made a soft sound, blue orbs widening ever-so-slightly to gaze upon the performer herself.

It was in this that the musician herself began to find comfort from this very notion alone, the pale color of her cheeks beginning to clash with a light hue of red as she still tried to best to hold in the tears. It wasn't until the woman spoke out that she felt her entire being shiver on the inside, as if a shock wave of emotions attacked the very foundation that was her every which way. The woman could feel the sense of hearing return to her ears, letting Astrid's voice in as she tried to take in her appearance.

    But the words...

Euphemia could have sworn that it was in that moment, Astrid's soft and sweet words of comfort were slowly breaking her down gently. They were tearing down the barrier that the woman had put up around herself to hold back the sadness she was feeling (among the many other, overwhelming emotions). It was within seconds upon hearing the final string of Astrid's words that the woman took in a shivered breath, and tilted her head down. She clutched her violin case close to her and began to sob. Curling up with her head tilted down, Euphemia was completely lost in herself, simply letting the tears flow forth from within her.

All the tears that she had been holding back for so long were all finally sliding out.

She couldn't remember the last time she cried like this...

It had been so long, she had forgotten even how to... until now.

"I... I-I'm... so...", she tried to speak. But it only made the tears worse. She wanted to apologize for crying right in front of this wondrous performer, and causing a stir right there in the street. At least, that's what she believed that's what she was doing. But she just couldn't stop... Euphemia couldn't stop the tears flowing out. She was so alone in the world and had no one to speak to, and always kept to herself for the sake of others.

    But today?

The blonde bent down to her knees, clutching her violin case ever-so-tightly... completely vulnerable.

With her words the girl began to break. She watched as the blonde let out a waterfall of tears traveling down her reddening cheeks, clutching onto the case tightly before falling down to her knees, a sobbing mess.
This is what she was looking for. Raw emotion. No barriers holding it back. No fake expressions. This was true emotion. One of the most beautiful and powerful things to exist.
To give the girl some comfort Astrid also bent down to her knees, placing a hand upon the blonde's hair and rubbing it gently.
It seemed as though she was trying to apologize, stumbling upon her own words through her cries. Apologize? For what? Crying? The violinist couldn't help but let out a soft giggle, though quickly silenced herself as she realized laughing in this kind of situation may come off as a little rude.
"Tu vas bien. You're fine. There's no need to apologize. Sharing your emotions with me is actually very sweet."
Retracing her hand the slayer reached down to her pocket, taking out the rose she had received from the crowd earlier.
Taking a split second to look over the red petals carefully the ace moved her arm forward to position it just before the girl's face, holding out the flower to her as an offering gesture in order for her to hopefully take it.

"What is your name, if i may ask? Surely a pretty face has an equally pretty name" she beamed brightly. She was still excited that she could finally meet another violin lover. She wanted to know more. She needed to know more.

    ~ Why we play... ~

    @ Astrid

    ----

Euphemia cold feel the chills embracing her chest as she shivered, lost in her tears and utter sadness that she was feeling. She had always kept to herself, never letting on just how much was being kept inside; how many punches made against the walls or screams of utter agony that were held back. This maiden was in a world where the only way raw emotions could be expressed... was through music. It was through each and every single melody and note birthed from any and every instrument that she could describe just how much loneliness she was feeling in this beautiful yet cruel world.

Oh, how tired she was from hiding...

How broken she was from all the running away...

She was so far apart from the one thing she was searching for, fighting so hard for... And now here she was, crying and a shivering mess. Her breaths hitched and quivered, even hiccuping in the middle of her sobs - not even noticing the giggle that slipped past the maiden's lips before her. Euphemia was just so sad... and yet strangely glad at the same time. She was strangely relieved and happy that there was somebody here that was with her, even if she didn't know them by name. Just their company and the way their hand rest atop her blonde hair soothed her aching heart slowly but surely.

Her words were so gentle... So sweet...

Euphemia slowly began to grow quiet in her sobs as her eyes ached from all the tears, sniffling as she was absolutely positive her nose was stained red along with the borders of her eyes. But what drew her attention away from how horrible she must have looked in the moment was the red rose placed right before her, it's beauty vibrantly shining in the sunlight of the sky above. Blue orbs gazed upon the violinist before her, a pale hand shyly taking the flower ever-so-gently with a single sniff. It was then that everything inside Euphemia and out began to feel warm... As if life was breathing into her once cold body to comfort her.

This performer seemed so very kind, warm, sweet... It was something Euphemia had rarely encountered in the world yet, and it captivated her. With a gentle hue of red gracing her plae cheeks, the blonde smiled weakly and gazed upon the maiden with hope. "I-I'm... I'm Euphemia. A-Although, I doubt I'm as pretty as any other maiden... L-Like you. What about you, miss? M-May I ask your name?", she timidly asked, her voice soft and slow while she was still recovering from her tears.

    Sure, Euphemia was a mess.

But it was in a good way now... for she wanted to know more about this violinist before her. She wanted to get to know this person that had such a heavy effect on her, one that was both enchanting and graceful all at once.

"Euphemia..." The musician repeated, letting her mouth get use to the somewhat odd and unusual name.
The name was almost hard to pronounce with Astrid's bad history of complicated sounding English words. But yet, there was something... Mystic about it, like it could belong to some ancient goddess. Though Astrid was no expert on that sort of thing, so she couldn't really say. What she could say, however, was that it fit the young blonde. It was a name fit for a musician. It had that sort of orchestral ring to it.
"Madame Euphemia. A name fit for the stage. How lovely."
Realizing that her bent down position was starting to cause her legs to become numb Astrid plopped herself down to the grassy park ground softly, folding her the tail of her coat out behind her so she would not sit and wrinkle them. folding her legs out to the side and placing a hand down upon the ground beside her to told herself up.
After adjusting herself the ace looked back up to Euphemia, flashing her a signature smile once more.
"Astrid Foss. Although some prefer to call me Asty. But really, feel free to call me whatever you like."
She really had no preference, though usually only people that were close to her really called her by her nickname. But she saw no harm in letting this girl call her that too. By showing her such raw emotions, they could be counted as rather close already. It was a strange thing to think.

Folding her hands together so her chin could rest firmly upon the back of them her gaze would never leave the young girl's face, watching as she tried to recover from her sobs.
"Tell me, Madame... What brings you to Magnolia?"

    ~ Let's see... ~

    @ Astrid

    ----

The blonde could have sworn that her entire being shifted, the rhythm of the heart that beat within her slowly falling back to its steady rhythm. Even though Euphemia's state was still in emotional exhaustion, eyes stinging slightly from the tears that fell from her eyes, a smile couldn't help but make its way to her lips in a soft and slow pace. The way the woman pronounced her name was almost clumsy, yet it was kindly. It was a rather soothing thing to hear in the moment after what seemed to be a long, rather draining session of releasing her emotions.

This wise woman was right; the effects of her releasing much later would have been... catastrophic.

Realizing that caused the woman to just retreat down to the ground with a single motion, plopping down as she cradled her precious violin case in her pale arms. Although, the maiden wouldn't admit outright that it was also an excuse to rest her body. It seemed to be weighing on her, everything feeling more heavy than before this all even began. With her blue optics softened as they gazed upon the mage before them, Euphemia listened close to how this individual pronounced their name.

    Astrid Foss... Astrid Foss...

"A-Astrid...", the musician slowly repeated with a slight tilt of her head, strands of blonde hair falling to the left. It only took a small moment for Euphemia to smile gently, straightening her neck as she nodded her head. "What a lovely name...", she complimented softly, putting her violin case down to rest right in-between them. It was so strange... In such a short amount of time, Euphemia could feel the world around her begin to shift and change into a much more brighter and vibrant hue. It was as if she and this young woman already formed a bond that was close and real... One that was true to what it appeared to be. There were no lies, no veils of deception, and no fears...

    This was real.

As a pale finger gently grazed at her cheeks, the maiden sighed softly in thought, eyes closing as she slowly began to relax. It was okay to say why she was here to Astrid... She felt it was okay.

"I-I was here... because not only did I feel drawn to this place today, b-but I wanted to see it again before I moved on to another town... I-I can't ever really stay in one place for too long, M-Miss Foss."

And while you are sitting indoors
waiting for the storm to pass
I will be outside dancing in the rain

As the blonde explained, the ace listened closely, her gaze never faulting or moving away from Euphemia's. Though it was rather hard. Usually after a performance Astrid would become quite drained, and while her adhd nature was already bad on its own it only doubled when in a tired state.
But there was something stopping her mind from becoming distracted so easily. She truly was intrigued by this young girl. For reasons she herself could not grasp.
It was rare such a person was able to keep the musician's attention.
"I see..." Astrid hummed after a brief moment of silence. She didn't exactly get the reasons, but she did at least understand them... Somewhat. She too had been drawn here, though for completely different reasons.
"It's funny. I also felt drawn to this place today. I could have chosen to preform anywhere, and originally i was going to travel north of here. But for some reason i couldn't help myself from coming here instead..." Placing her hands back down onto her lap the violinist grinned.
"I guess that's what they call destiny, yes? Almost like we were destined to meet here today."
Though she smiled, there was apart of the girl's statement that continued to gnaw at her mind with curiosity. She said she couldn't stay in one place... That wasn't unusual exactly, this entire world was full of mages that loved traveling and adventuring. But it was how she said it, laced with such nervousness. With her heightened senses it was easy to spot little things like that in speech and movement.
Blinking, Astrid's expression turned worried, a small frown placing onto her lips and silver eyebrows furrowing down.

"... Not to pry or anything, mademoiselle... But why is that?"
