    Tick...tick...tick...

The clock approaching midnight was the only sound in the room as Kistiñe stared at the ceiling, watching the fan lazily spin on its axis. The window to her room was open to let the breeze in, and if she actually wanted to she could hear the faint ongoings of the night life the city surrounding the guild hall had to offer..but, for the night, all she wanted was to get some sleep. Even for someone who loved to party and fed almost exclusively on the social energy of being around other people, there were a few occasions where she needed to be alone to gather her often scattered thoughts and focused on what mattered most. As of late, it seemed those kinds of nights became more and more frequent as she desperately tried to ignore the one thing that was gnawing at the back of her mind like a parasite. It was a night like this where she, still dressed in her clothes from earlier in the day, would hold back tears and force herself to think about something else, would go out of her way to try and avoid the one topic that haunted her day and night...

Her sister was dead. She tried to tell herself that the encounter had been nothing but a trick brought on by some demon, or a nightmare generated by her own brain because of how long it had been since they had last spoken, but there had been something different...something far more real about the dream than either of those possibilities...

She sat up on the bed and held her face in her hands, trying not to burst into tears. How long had she been dead? That was possibly the most haunting question out of all that buzzed through her mind. What had taken her sister's life would matter little in the end--if there was a culprit, revenge would be dealt eventually--but in this case time did not heal, but only added salt to the wound... The Latina got up from the bed and walked towards the door, grabbing a duffel bag on the way out. Inside the small grey bag were travel necessities--a set of spare clothes and some hygiene products to be precise--and nothing more.

As she walked out into the hallway, she locked the door to her room behind her, as if to indicate she was going to be gone for quite some time. A day or two...a week? It was impossible to tell for sure what was going on behind those doleful brown eyes, but it was clear that a decision had been made of some kind. The only sounds in the hallway were her own footsteps as she walked towards the stairwell, her end goal being the front door...
