    job notice:
    Job Name: Rogue Robots
    Job Rank: B
Job Requirements: Destroy one of the rogue robots that were unleashed
    7,500 words minimum
If in a group +1,500 words per player
    Type of job: Multi-Time Job
    Job Location: Motor City
Job Description: Opps, Sorry about this. I kind of accidentally...made a small army of rogue robots. They don't seem to be hunting people to hurt them but umm...if provoked they will attack. I don't want anyone hurt but it might only be a matter of time before that happens if they are not dealt with. As such, I am taking full responsibility and funding mages that would be qualified to deal with and disable such creations. I must warn you though, each and every robot is radically different and powered by various magical sources depending on which one you encounter. The local law enforcement has also been notified and although they are not happy with the situation as long as no one is hurt I will not need to face persecution. Hench, I am hiring as many mages as able to prevent such a thing. Word of caution, some of the Rogue robots are far more powerful then the others. I would recommend extreme caution around them as they have a Cortex Mainframe that allows them to think and evolve. They will change their tactics based on their situation and will even flee if they deem they need to. Don't underestimate their ability to think. If able bring them back in working order, this isn't nessacary but I will pay extra for capturing.

    a dragon's tale: unexalted fear
Thoughts of mechanical creatures clouded the depths of the young dragon's mind. It was all too surreal, too vivid, too soon. It hadn't been long since his previous ordeal dealing with automatic-type creatures and he definitely didn't want to do it again after the occurrences of before but the Magic Council took precedence over all else. Why they were so obsessed with Ibara in particular was a fact completely unbeknownst to him, he wasn't particularly strong (although he didn't like to think so) and his attitude usually always got in the way of his task regardless of the consequences that may ensue. He shook his head for the third time and glanced to the summons in his hand.

"A scientist... a bloody scientist. They're more dangerous than the wizards they industrialize. Their automatons, trickey, machines — it's all to much for me. Besides, you can always tell the stress levels are rising when you start talking to yourself. Jeez.. Just being in a Wizards' Guild has led me to the development of a hundred and one fears all within the span of a few months. Water, Robots, the Spooky Forest, children.. I wouldn't really call them fears.. more like pests."

Ibara rubbed his temples, one hand placed on either side of his head, massaging them gently with his forefingers and thumbs. His eyes were crinkled, leaving a concealment of his heterochromia iridis; a reference to his multicoloured eyes, one glowing a deep reptilian yellow, a colour he had inherited from his "father" while the other glowed a deep crimson, a development that he had made on his own.

As he walked, he slowly began to notice the transition of scenery around him. The grass slowly began to take a more metallic grasp while the air thickened and began to intoxicate itself with irrefutable fumes of gasoline and highly expensive oil. Ibara hated the area already. It was wreathed with pollution, industrialisation and abstained from serenity and peace that the natural surroundings would usually offer regardless of where you were in the world. Every now and then, a moving vehicle (something Ibara had never actually witnessed before) zoomed past him, threatening to take off his legs in an instant. A motorcycle too, similar to the vehicle of before yet it habituated two wheels rather than four and refrained from an enclosed environment. What were they? Ibara screamed now and then at the passing drivers. Care was thrown to the wind in what he now recognised as... Motor City.

    "This sucks."

His words were simple but effective. The occasional onlooker would pass him by, exchanging the odd strange-glance at Ibara's refrained comment to himself out in the open. Another aspect of the city that the young dragon had noticed was how densely populated the place was. This place.. writhing with environmental destruction; was it such an attractive place to live that it lured so many people to it's zones? The fire wizard couldn't understand it in the slightest. The notion threw iteslf over his head as he continued walking; following the Magic Council's instructions to an attempted tee in hopes that he could actually navigate himself around this dense population.

    A few hours later...

Ibara sat on the side of a pavement. His neck craned downwards onto his chest, a singular flame alight on his finger while his eyes now open, glowed in the darkness that had ensued over the several hours that he had inhabited motor city. His breath was ragged as the transition of air wasn't exactly the easiest task to adjust to while his movements were slow; clearly the pollution was affecting him somewhat. The flame moved from right to left... what was the young dragon doing? Something important, it must have been.

"Three yellow cars... (a few minutes passed). Four yellow cars."

The young dragon was completely... entirely... lost.

Heat cannot be separated from fire, or beauty from The finite.

    Knock, knock, knock

    The sound repeated again, and again before finally a disgruntled bartender opened the wooden door with a resounding creak from the old, abused hinges. A wave of warm air and a scent often held by fire places welcomed the man into the room, it would have been pleasing if not for the fact that the room itself lacked a fire place or furnace. However, the source of the scent and the apparent heat of the room belonged to something far more terrifying than an old furnace. Simultaneously terrifying yet beautiful in an almost awe inspiring way. Had he not had experience in dealing with this particular source of heat, even he would be perplexed. Just by the window bathed in the sunlight streaming in from an open window, with limbs tangled about in only the thinnest of white sheets lay a sleeping woman. Every step closer to the woman made the air feel muggier, and it was apparent that she was the source of heat for the room. There was only one explanation for the woman creating such a temperature difference in her room;

    A Flame Slayer

Not just any slayer, but a goddess slayer that was nothing short of looking like that which she could supposedly slay. One that was terrible at self-control when it came to magic and temperament but the bartender was more than acquainted with her. She was a rent paying tenant, that had lived above his bar for sometime. It felt like she had been staying there longer than she really had, and the circumstances in which she had come to be there was always a touchy subject so he never bothered to ask. However, her presence was a welcomed one. Being a bartender and owner of the Soul Bar in Talonia was a tricky business, meaning he dealt with a plethora of guildless mages with questionable morals. The female slayer had managed to earn his respect not just by consistently paying rent, or reimbursing him for any objects she had accidentally burned, but by also stepping in and stopping any fight that were to occur in his bar. In turn, he was always dealing the blonde her own fair share of odd jobs, usually letting her have her pick of the litter before giving the other requests out to the other local guildless. Which was why he was in her room, other than of course to take a sneak peek at the sleeping beauty.

"Oi Ven! I got ya a request!"

He hovered just out of grabbing distance from the bed. Upon occasion she was known to grab when sleeping, generally to pull someone or something in to snuggle. Having already fallen prey to her heated embrace, something that had nearly left him with burn marks from her hot touch, and an overwhelming sense of comfortableness, he certainly did not want to repeat the incident. He called her name, or rather nickname once more before finally violet hues revealed themselves. It took a few moments for her gaze to fall upon the bartender, and yet another moment for the sleepy fog to clear. "Hmmmmmm?" She hummed with inquiry as she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. Again the bartender repeated his phrase, and watched with amusement as she rolled onto her back one hand rubbing circles on her exposed stomach, just below the hem of tank top, and her other hand was reaching out to him. He knew better than to touch her hand when passing the job request over, being so early in the morning her control of her own body temperature was lacking. It was a miracle that the paper itself didn't turn into ash from just the brush of her fingertips. A few moments of silence passed as she read over the description before giving a nod and passing it back over to him, "Let em' know I'll take it on." She sat up and gave a stretch with a few pleasant pops from her back, "I doubt these robots are gonna be of much trouble. If anything just getting there will be more of a pain but I have always wanted to visit there so might as well." With that she looked once more at the bartender before giving him a soft glare, "Oi what are you looking at? I've gotta get changed if I'm gonna be going anywhere today!" With a chuckle man left the blonde to herself, before going to send off the request with the woman's usual signature of agreement to partake in the job.

    ~*~

It was just as she had anticipated, getting to the actual job location was more difficult than anticipated. It was such a long walk. "I could probably get a car or maybe something else while I'm here." The thought raced through her head, or she could get some sort of cool mount or steed but either way she was faced with the same dilemma. Venir lacked the storage space for a vehicle or an animal large enough to ride. As much as the bartender loved her she doubted he'd let her start storing her things in his storage room.

Travelling to the city was a hassle but the city itself was even more so. She had done quite a bit of travelling on her own, and had visited a number of large towns but motor city made the other places look like rural villages. There was so much technology, and so many people all crammed into one place that it was a little dizzying to look at let alone navigate. At the least Venir stood out compared to the citizens of Motor City. Since she was going on a job she had worn her standard almost adventurer like gear, which in Fiore wouldn't have been an uncommon sight for a mage, but in Motor City she screamed foreigner. "Ugh." She shuddered at the number of uncomfortable stares that her manner of dress and appearance had earned her. "I just wanna find this job..." She internally cried, and despite her best efforts the passing pedestrians didn't help her in her cause. If anything she seemed to earn some sort of backlash from her appearance, evident status as a mage, or even just from being foreign. In short she wouldn't be receiving any help from the locals. "There has to be some here that's not from Motor City that might be able to help me...." She pulled out the job request that she had tucked neatly away into the pouch attached to her belt. Being of rather petite stature, she couldn't exactly see over the crowd of people that littered the streets even at such a late hour. With vision out of the question the young woman relied on her other somewhat enhanced sense to guide her to someone that smelled like Fiore. However, a different scent caught her nose, one that made her stomach audibly growl.

    Fire

She could smell it in the air, and it wasn't a naturally produced one either! It was produced through magic, that much she could smell and feel if she focused her senses. Venir didn't realize the extent of her hunger but she had been travelling just about all day to get to Motor City, even forgoing breakfast, lunch, and well dinner. Another growl had escaped her stomach as the scent of the flames got closer and closer until finally she could see the glow of the single flame itself.

    Chomp!

Hardly a thought crossed her mind, save for the taste of the flame itself, as she sealed her lips about it, practically inhaling the flame. Flames were practically like liquid or rather air? Despite their texture Venir still preferred to chew them or at least bite into them but this time her teeth met something rather solid. At long last her thought train finally caught up to her, now that the flame itself had already traveled down her gullet, and something that was not a flame was caught between her teeth. Only when a metallic taste hit her tongue did the young woman release her bite, toss herself backwards with a shriek of panic, and a great deal of flailing followed by apologizing. "Oh my gosh I am so sorry!" She practically cried, "Please tell me I didn't bite off your finger!" Or at least she prayed it was finger, "I can't bear to look! It's still on right?" Contradicting her words, the woman peeked out from behind her spread fingers looking at the crescent bite marks her teeth had left upon his single finger, "I was so hungry and your flame was just there I couldn't help myself. You see I've been wandering around this city for sometime trying to find a client for a job request and in my wandering I forgot to eat...All three meals." She rambled on, a bad habit of hers when she got nervous, "I hope you can forgive me or I can make it up to ya."

    a dragon's tale: unexalted fear
Ibara's thought process had completely drifted elsewhere; the monotonous task of continually counting cars while remaining ledged up against a very grimy wall on an equally dirty street was repetitive but the young dragon didn't know what to do with himself. The flame on his finger flickered on and off as if the inanimate piece of magic too was getting bored with doing absolutely nothing. A sign of some kind was what Ibara needed to relinquish himself of this boredom but the pair of jaws that approached weren't exactly what he had in mind.

    Chomp!

Like a certain shark out of a certain movie, Ibara's fingers disappeared under a swish of blonde hair which temporarily draped over his face. He hadn't time to react, his monontously-caused boredom prevented him from doing so despite his normally fast reactions and that's when he felt out. The drainage of magic from his finger, the exhaustion of a flame and the inclination of sharp teeth burying deep within his pinky.

    "WHAT THE HELL?!"

Ibara's body spontaneously combusted as, what appeared to be a woman, retracted her jaws from his finger and burst back all of a sudden upon the realisation of what she had done. She began throwing apologetic excuses but the young dragon was having none of it. He glanced to his now bleeding finger and shot to his feet, his speed slightly more augmented due to the flames that now licked every inch of his skin.

"YOU WERE HUNGRY?! WHAT PERSON IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD EAT FI-!?"

Ibara's voice cut off and his thoughts zoomed out of perspective. A person that consumed flames? The notion was all too familiar but the answer that came to his head was far too strange to compute. A Fire Slayer? Here of all the place? What else could it be, she had consumed his flames in a matter of seconds. This only aroused another question in his head. From what Ibara had processed throughout his times wielding his magic, it was that he couldn't consume his own flames. Surely the same idea would apply to other fire slayers even if there were anything. So many questions raced around the young draconian mind that it brought the flames that temporarily coated his skin to a halt; extinguishing around him.

"I'll save my questions for later, let me cut to the chase. You wouldn't happen to be here because of a whacky scientist, would you?"

Ibara paused for several seconds as her gaze remained averted from him. His brows furrowed.

"YES! MY FINGER IS STILL ATTACHED OTHERWISE IT WOULD BE IN YOUR MOUTH, WOULDN'T IT? BAKA!"

Ibara couldn't contain himself; despite the acquaintance-level relationship between the two, there was a certain familiarity that he felt between them already hence the explosion of emotion that Ibara would often exhibit to those he knew well. Besides, it was the only form of comfort that the young dragon knew how to perform and he wasn't going to get anywhere with the woman hanging her head in grievance of what she presumed she had done.

Heat cannot be separated from fire, or beauty from The finite.

His shout only made the slayer wince, feeling worse than she did before. She had expected him to be angry but that didn't stop her from hoping that perhaps he'd be a little understanding. It wasn't as if she had intentionally harmed him. If she had known it was his finger then she wouldn't have so readily chomped upon it. Even with her gaze averted Venir knew that the man had combusted in flames. She could feel the heat of them, smell them in the air, and see the flickering glow of the flames in the otherwise poorly lit street. Her stomach growled again, and her mouth watered but she didn't dare try to repeat her earlier action less she anger him again. Though if he made a move against her, then of course, the blonde was more than willing to inhale those flames. "Wait...He's on fire?" She had never heard of a fire mage that could be set on fire without any bodily harm. While her counterpart may have realized their similarity in magic, Venir was still blissfully ignorant.

His next shout of words made her flinch again but she didn't reply as his own question was never finished. Slayers weren't exactly common, so meeting someone who ate flames must have been a surprise for him. Just like meeting someone who could simply combust without any consequence. Even when the flames extinguished their scent was still in the air, and her stomach gave another miserable rumble. Which only made her hang her head in guilt, blonde bangs covering her amethyst eyes. His question did not go unanswered though she muttered her response so quietly that it was likely he did not hear. Again he yelled at her, but this time the words did not make her cringe. "Oh!" Her head shot up, amethyst eyes widening as if the idea never even occurred to her. With little grace, Venir scrambled up to her feet quickly wiping away any stray dirt that may have clung to her form. "Thank goodness!" She chirped, still somewhat guilty, "Yeah I'm here for the scientist thing with the crazy robots. I've never actually seen a robot or fought one but I bet they burn just the same as everything else!" One hand clenched into a fist, lighting up with black flames for a moment in excitement before they extinguished. Venir was about to ask him why he was there, when a sudden scent caught her attention, making her nose crinkle.

Beneath the smell of the diminished flames, there was another scent that she couldn't quite put her finger on. People carried all sorts of different scents, and in her short time of being a slayer she had learned to distinguish a mage from a regular person through scent alone. Usually mages carried not just a smell of energy, of life but something that particularly correlated to the magic they wielded. A water magic typically smelled like water, like rain, or the ocean, and even smelled fishy upon occasion. Earth mages were earthy, like a long hike out in the woods. Cellestial mages smelled like stars and hope, and typically even carried some of the scents of the spirits they wielded. Fire mages, always carried around a smokey smell to them, occasionally ashy, but always pleasant to the fire slayer. Which is exactly what the male before her smelled like but there was something else. "Hey wait don't move." She insisted, nose crinkling again as she neared, "I'm not gonna bite ya again." She warned as she got closer, personal space was clearly a concept Venir did not understand.

    "You smell."

She decreed as she took a large step back. Her statement was not said in an unkind way it was merely stating a fact. Then again Venir could only imagine what she might smell like to other people with senses like her own. It wasn't as if he truly smelled bad, but it was different. Foreign and unlike anything she had smelled before. "Kinda like an animal?" What animal she did not know, but her nose crinkled again, "Just what are you doing here exactly?" She sounded almost suspicious, after all this weird smelling stranger seemed to know why she was here. Venir had encountered another slayer before, but it was a fellow god slayer so his scent was similar to her own. Never had she encountered a genuine dragon slayer. Just like every other person in Fiore, she knew of them. How could one not? A person raised and taught by dragons to slay dragons? It was practically a fairytale read to children, storybook magic wielded only by a select few. Her knowledge of dragon slayers didn't necessarily mean that she would be able to properly identify one. That and it wasn't as if the male before her even looked remotely capable of slaying a dragon.

    a dragon's tale: unexalted fear
The young dragon could only bring and the requisitial statement followed by the ascertaining question as to why he was there. Repetitive breaths were seen as he attempted to cool his temper although heat waves could be seen exerting from his body while the bricks on the opposing wall behind him seemingly began to melt at the sheer heat exuded from the dragon slayer. Ibara couldn't quite understand the woman that stood infront of him. First she comes out with a rudimentary statement and then proceeds to ask what he is doing here despite the question first being proposed to her by Ibara so his reasons of being there were actually quite obvious already. Again, the breaths continued and a hand moved to the back of his crimson red, tussled hair. He rubbed it a few times as he usually would, setting fire to it at one point although it was soon doused by a few pats of his foreboding hand.

"Seriously? What am I doing here? You're doubting me only a few seconds after I mentioned a reason that YOU AGREED WITH as to why you were here and you don't think we're here for the same reasons? Damnit..! Also, what do you mean.. I smell? An animal? YOU'RE CRAZY, WOMAN."

Ibara's words were uttered without pause for breath, no immediate hesitation. All at once like the fall of a waterfall from top to bottom although his words were tinged with a fiery essence as if the water itself were lava. His eyes began to glow their respective colours and he raised a fist which immediately combusted into flames. Her words just didn't compute in Ibara's very small temperamental scheme and that's how we come to our current situation. He was about to drop the fist as quick as it came before he heard the sound of bolts clinking together, cogs moving in unison; similar directions, whirring machinery, explosive circuitry. What were those noises? A particularly geeky cackle also emanated from a similar direction of the nose. A dark alleyway that opposed the two fiery individuals on the other side of the road. All Ibara could see at the moment were flashing lights but that was about to change.

    Grind, whizz, squeak, pop!

Technological sounds continued to resound from the shadows before a few things finally came into view. Several robotic, humanoid looking pieces of machinery emerged from the shadows and they all looked particuarly lethal. Each armed with pairs of weapons ranging from flamethrowers to swords and buzzsaws. They whirred together as if this were their form of a threatening gesture but Ibara was midway through a temperamental rant and this was the worst time to interrupt an already angered dragon slayer.

    "WILL YOU BEEEEEEEEEEEE QUIETTTT!"

Ibara shouted as his fist transformed into a column of flames and he threw it sideways towards the opposing alleyway. The flames left his hand and transformed into a massive fireball while within mid-trajectory. A massive explosion emanated on the other side of the road while the dragon slayer huffed and puffed. His eyes continued to glow and his gaze was now diverted from the bubbly-young woman to a massive plume of smoke that seemed to blend in with the sky of Motor City.

"That fire was meant for you.. damnit."

Heat cannot be separated from fire, or beauty from The finite.

A sudden increase in temperature almost went by unnoticed by Venir. Her tolerance for heat was exceptional for obvious reason. It was likely that she could stand amidst an inferno and feel cozy. The only reason in which she noticed the sudden increase in temperature was not because she felt it but because she saw it. Near the male the bricks distorted, melting from his heat alone, and if she focused her vision she could literally see the heat rolling off of him in waves. His temperament wasn't surprising, perhaps to Venir but to anyone else it was to be expected. Even to some extent the woman also had a nasty temper but not so easily sparked as the male before her. Ill tempers were to be expected when dealing with any sort of fire mage, it was a given that they be more than a little hot headed. Of course, it's not to say that every fire mage has anger issues, it was simply a matter of majority. While, his temper was quick to ignite and just as quick to cool some, Venir was the opposite. There was only a few ways in which to get her properly pissed, and the last time she was ended up in the destruction of a certain guild. Meaning that the blonde did not come out of a rage as nicely. However, it was a challenge to anger her, or rather to stumble on the few things, odd things really, that angered her.

    "You don't have to yell..."

She grumbled, chewing her lip as her gaze flickered away from him again. Despite his tone and his words he hardly produced much of a reaction out of her. If anything she looked more like a kid getting scolded rather than an experienced mage. Managing to take another meager glance at him, Venir was startled to find that his eyes were practically glowing not too mention their colors! Heterochromia wasn't something she had seen before. It was odd but not necessarily in a bad way, more unique than anything. She would have marveled at the sight for a little while longer if not for noticing his raised fist. Even then she did not seem angered, if anything she looked agitated which was still an overstatement. Inconvenienced was a more accurate description. After all, if he picked a fight with her she'd be obligated to retaliate, and then she wouldn't be able to snag a few more flames from him, interrogate him about his strange eyes, and it would put her job on a hold even if it was a temporary one. However, the job seemed to have to come to them.

Hardly quiet, the usual hum and whiz of machinery echoed down the alley that the two occupied. Moment later the source of this sound appeared in the form of robots. The very robots in which Venir was certain that the job had entailed. Before she could hope to go try her hand at beating up the weapon wielding hunks of metal, a sudden burst of flames illuminated the alley. All that was left after the flames went out was the smoking remnants of the robots, and the acrid smell that their burned wires produced. Wait...Those were her robots to fight! Damnit! Venir was about to voice her opinion when once again the red haired male spoke claiming that those flames were for her,

"Really!?" She chirped, violet eyes practically sparkling, "You were gonna let me eat those!?" Once again the meaning went over her head, and her was already watering at the thought of getting another taste of his fire. However, she quickly snapped herself out of her fire filled daydream, "Wait! Hold it! Those were my robots to fight! I did not travel all this way for nothing!" She huffed, arms crossing over her bosom in an almost childish pout. Luckily, more squeaks and pops echoed from around the alley. There was going to be plenty of robots for the slayers to fight, or if Venir had her way for her to fight. "Oiiiiii these one's are mine!" Again it was not said in an unkindly manner. If anything she seemed more protective than anything with the way she squeezed past him, as if to place herself as a shield between him and whatever robots lay down the ally. "Stay back." Her words only confirmed her intentions, as if she thought he needed protection. Not allowing him room to interject, and making sure that there was no time for him to sudden squeeze past her, Venir sucked in a large gulp of air.

    "Flame Goddesses Bellow!"

Hardly a moment later a torrent of dark flames escaped pale pink lips. Their color did not illuminate the alley like his had, but the slight purple tinge to the dark flames offered a faint bit of light. Unholy fire pushed its way down the alley, likely breaking through to the other out onto the side walk. Whatever robots that had been down that alley, none even having the chance to reveal their forms from the shadows, were burnt to a crisp. After a seemingly never ending supply of flames, they finally ceased, and Venir had to let out a large exhale of air. "Whew~!" She rested her hands on her knee's for a moment, just to catch her breath. "I think we're safe now. You should probably get going. It's dangerous for ya here!" Again it was not meant to be rude, the slayer genuinely thought that the male might be in danger if he stay. Danger from robots and from Venir, but it wasn't because she doubted his abilities or anything. It was simply in her nature to protect when she could, she'd already destroyed enough. From above the alley, up on the rooftops came more unnatural sounds,

    Snap! Creak! Whiz! Beep!

    a dragon's tale: unexalted fear
Ibara's angst at the situation only heightened while the explosion of his flames illuminated the side of his face with the occasional shutting down noises that associated with the absolute destruction of the robots that he'd taken down. That wasn't what he was focusing on though. The pieces of scrap metal that now occupied a burnt sludge on the sidewalk was the least of his concerns. The happy-go-lucky, oblivious, patronising, nonchalant blonde that stood opposite him whom thought of Ibara's threat as an all-you-can-eat buffet was what was truly grinding his gears (no pun intended). She didn't understand his attitude towards her at all. In fact, Ibara wouldn't be surprised if she thought she had made a new friend today despite the young dragon's cold demeanour in response to all her questions. She had been admiring his now glowing eyes for a time before her gaze diverted. A continual whirring, screeching sound; characterised by the same noises as before.

"More robots? You've got to be kidding. I just reduced twenty to freakin' rubble! Guess a few more aren't any real prob—"

Ibara stood there bewildered. Black flames temporarily clouding his vision and the remaining robots now burnt to cinders while a gaping hole now lined the street from where a literal laser-beam of fire had erupted from the woman's mouth in a billowing frenzy of raw power. What had the young dragon just witnessed? There were no other robots in site, only the linear destruction that the blonde had left in her wake. Gone without a trace, more sludge, steaming even hotter than Ibara's own flames burnt into the ground. He was upset, her moving infront of him as if the young dragon needed protection, as if he were a child. The thought pissed him off to no end but that feeling didn't rival his state of shock. She'd performed that spell in a similar manner to how he performed his Fire Dragon's Roar, and it was unimaginable to him as to how she could mimic in such a way... no... perform it in an even more sensational manner.

    "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT—?! HOW DID YOU.. HUH?!"

Ibara stuck his finger right in her cheek as if she were some kind of scientific experiment. Some form of enhanced Dragon Slayer that Ibara was completely unaware of. Her flames were black, a much more significant, terrifying and prowestical colour than Ibara's own. He retracted his finger and shook his head several times over, so fast in fact that his head became an unrecognisable mop of red hair. As the shaking slowly stopped, the hair now covered his glowing heterochromic eyes and the only recognisable feature that could have been spotted was the grimace on his face. He mumbled for a moment but his voice rose to that original bravado that he was renown for.

"Don't patronise me! I can take care of them myself!"

He sounded like a child whom wanted to impress their mother as the whirring and buzzing of robots was heard overhead. Though they were characterised by different sounds as well as the crying out of a particular geekish voice originating from the same shadowy alleyway that the monsters they had originally taken out once came from. A scientist emerged and pointed to the building above the two fire wizards.

"Save your questions about me for later! Those are my finest yet most devilish creations! The Rogue Robots! Be careful! You must have taken my enquiry, I do hope you're up to the task. They rival even the greatest of wizards!"

Ibara spat a small ball of flame so accurately that it landed just before the young scientist's boot. It sizzled into the ground and crouched down as it did so.

"Guess I'll have to show you what I'm made of!"

Ibara's eyes glowed even significantly lighter as fiery wings sprouted from his back, intangible due to their flame-like properties and beat off the ground. Ibara accelerated from the sidewalk and used Venir's head as a lever with one hand to excel himself even further into the air. He rose with a spiralling twirl, one fist projected above him in a superman-like gesture. He caught one of the so-called Rogue-Robots in the chin and it decimated on contact. Ibara shot above it into the air and span around to face them again as the various parts from the original creation came crashing back towards the earth.

    "Fire Dragon's Roar!"

With the turning of Ibara's body, he cupped his hands over his mouth to provide a suitable cylinder from which to launch the cylindrical column of red and orange flames towards the remainder of the robots. They became coated in the fiery aurora, disappearing within it like a showering waterfall that burnt instead of soothed. Scrap-metal could be heard dripping from the sheer intensity of the flames that the robots now bathed in. It wasn't over though. More whirring and screeching occurred from the opposite building behind Ibara and the sound of a charging laser-beam could be heard within the polluting mist that characterised motor city.

"I hate to say this but you're gonna have to take my six on this one.."

Heat cannot be separated from fire, or beauty from The finite.

By the time Venir had recovered and returned her attention back to the red head, a finger was none too gently shoved into her cheek. She had to resist the urge to bite into his finger, not a hard bite of course but a gentle one that was more of an instinctual desire than anything. Perhaps if she bit into his finger he'd let her taste some of his flames again, she was getting a little hungry after the brief very one-sided conflict with the robots. His reaction was a confusing one for Venir to say the least. "How did I what? The fire? Haven't you seen a goddess slayer before?" She grumbled, watching in vague amusement as his head became a blur of red hair, "Oh wait..." She mused, "I guess goddess/god slayers aren't really that common..." Still, there was some famous and even infamous god slayers out there, one of them being the guild master of Infinity Hydra. Normally, Venir was mistaken for Ardere due to their shared black flames, though Venir was more infamous than she was famous. One day she'd hope to earn a name for herself rather than be mistaken for Ardere, or be recognized solely for the destruction she caused.

Noticing his grimace Venir was about to cheer up the male by offering a smile, still unable to grasp that she was the source for his apparent unhappiness. However, his words stopped her from offering a smile of friendship, and instead she was stumped for a moment. If he was the child trying to impress his mother than there was little doubt that Venir was the doting mother, overwhelmed by her child. "I never said you couldn't! I just think it'd be best if-" More sounds of robotic life was picked up the slayers sensitive ears. Accompanied with the sounds of the robots was another voice that sounded like they needed an inhaler. Pausing to listen to his words it took Venir a moment to comprehend them. He was the one who had put out the request? "Ha!" She slammed her fist into her open palm, the air sizzling around her, "Rival even the greatest of wizards? I'll have you know I punched a Wizard Saint in the face once." The outcome of that small skirmish with the said wizard saint was another story, but seeing his nose bleed from the force of the punch was a satisfying memory.

Unfortunately, it would seem that male fire user had a similar idea of proving his worth to the scientist. He had taken off towards the roofs with wings of flame to guide him up through the air. "Ow!" Her hands clutched at her head as she was used to help him propel himself upwards. Looking up Venir was going to shout a warning at him but instead could only marvel at him, eyes practically sparkling at the sight. "Wings of flame!?" Such a cool way of flight! It hadn't exactly dawned on her that with enough time and practice, she too could fly with flaming wings. Instead her own method of flight was... Far less graceful. "Don't worry those robots are gonna get taken care of!" She called out to the scientist before digging her boots into the earth of the alley. A moment later a burst of dark flames propelled her upwards through the air, overshooting her target by a long shot. She cleared the roofs and ended up a few meters above them, turning her body while mid air she spotted the fiery male on top of the roof along with a score of robots.

He had performed a bellow, or in this case a roar in similar fashion to Venir's own goddess slaying one. There was a few obvious differences between their attacks, but that didn't make his any less destructive towards the robots. Using another burst of flames to propel herself towards the roof, she landed on the tiles with a skid. If her flight was ungraceful, her landing skills were atrocious if they could even be described as landing skills. She skid to a stop right into a robot, that was quickly disposed of with a flaming fist, sending backwards, also skidding along the tiled roof. "Betcha I'll get more of them than you!" She grinned, before launching herself once more into battle taking on another group of robots.

    a dragon's tale: unexalted fear
    RISE
"With fire in our bellies and the sun in our soul!"
Ibara remained steadfast atop the roof glancing around at all angles while the continual charge of a laser beam blew from behind him. While unable to target Venir at this point, he could only assume she was below kicking some serious robotic ass. Metallic beast after maniacal chainsaw fell at the young dragon's feet in a pool of liquidated, hot mass as flaming fists of red and yellow moved at unrecognisable speeds through a cloud of grey. The whirring, buzzing sounds filled the fiery dragon slayer's ears and it proved to be a little distracting. Maybe a little too distracting.

"DAMNIT. ISN'T THERE A MUTE BUTTON ON THESE CONTRAPTIONS?! NO WONDER YOU'RE CRAZY."

Ibara shouted down to the scientist below who couldn't help but show a little meekness to the comment. However, his insanity shone through and soon he was laughing once more despite the imminent danger that threatened him and the two mages whom were engaged in serious combat. A flash of black emanating from darkened boots raced past the young dragon's two-toned eyes and before he knew it, Venir was melting robot after robot right alongside him. For one reason or another, she didn't engage the robot whom was preoccupied with the charging laserbeam that grew larger and larger by the second. The young dragon could only assume that she enjoyed this too much and he sighed deeply. This proved to be a fatal error as the distraction provided a window of opportunity that no ordinary robot would lunge at in the future. A blade of burning orange, a heated metal of some sort, pierced straight through Ibara's flesh, catching at his ribcage and sticking deep inside it. The robot retreated again but not fast enough to miss the opportunity of a flaming fist; incinerating it within a second of it's recent blow. A wail of emotion pierced the air as the blade remained firmly jammed in the young dragon's ribs. He wouldn't allow this brief sensation to inhibit him though as he batted off another robot with a brief Fire Dragon's Roar, repelling the rest as he spun around to form a flame like cylinder around himself.

"Gr.. Got.. to.. stop.. that.. laser..."

Ibara muttered to himself from within his shroud of flames, warding off any nearby metallic creatures that threatened to take their opportunity once more. The blade in his ribs had been broken off the encounter but the damage was still done as a gaping hole remained in his chest, releasing a pooling red liquid that gathered and fizzled on the ground due to the heat that surrounded it. With another grimace and a grunt, Ibara waved his hands infront of him to part the cylindrical column of flames; exposing him to the robotic attacks once more.

"CRAZY LADY. That laser has been charging for a while. It's undoubtedly going to wipe us all out if we don't stop it and I won't make it there in time; if I ward them off, you've got to take it down. It might take time. I'd bet one thousand jewels that robot has a heap load of protection with an attack that takes that long to charge; that scientist may be insane but he's definitely not stupid."

As Ibara spoke, another blade came racing up towards him. This only reached so far though, cutting a mark within the young dragon's cheek before he backed away again. A growl pierced the air and the robots fell silent for a moment, even their automated whirring stopped as if they knew what was coming. They had backed a dangerous animal into a corner after all. It was time for the predator to become the prey.

With a second glance back to Venir to reaffirm his statement at her since she was clearly a woman that required a secondary understanding of things before the urgency to get going actually shone through, Ibara's five knuckles on one foot all caught a light at once, each with an individual flame of it's own. Soon each indivudal flame began to join together, forming a small fang atop of Ibara's hand and if Venir looked closely, she would be able to see the young dragon gulp as he lowered himself to his knee. He pressed the miniature fang against the ground and it cut a hole on what would have been the roof of the building.

"Time to finish you worthless pieces of scrap metal off...

    ...FIRE DRAGON'S FANG SHOT!
    "

With the connection of the fang to the roof, a few seconds passed. A breeze blew and the smoke that naturally characterised Motor City continued. A singular moment of silence hovered through the air and suspense rose to the maximum. As quickly as it came, it shot away with a miniature explosion in the form of an absolute booming sound that ringed and deafened everything in the nearby vicinity. That smaller explosion soon expanded into a much more gargantuan one as the whole building literally imploded in on itself in a massive ring of fire. All the robots standing on the building were decimated and huge clouds of rocky debris rose in the air, disguising and masking everything that inhabited it once before, even the young dragon himself. Venir had been given the opportunity. She had to take it or the dragon slayer's actions would probably be in vain.

Heat cannot be separated from fire, or beauty from The finite.

Venir took care of the robots, one after another. Each chunk of metal might as well have been paper before her flaming fists. Combat was one thing that she enjoyed though that was a recent change. Once a shy and timid girl, unsure of even her own abilities, Venir was now a confident young woman that took pleasure in the heat of battle. That was not to say that Venir took pleasure in other's pain. A battle was not fun if her opponents were unworthy, nor was it fun when herself or allies were injured. This mentality even applied to allies whom she had just met. Which is why a gasp escaped her lips when a heated blade had buried itself into Ibara's chest. Her first instinct was to run and smash the robots to pieces, and her next was to make sure he was okay. Ibara satisfied her first instinct as he incinerated his attacker with a flaming fist. Deciding to make sure he was okay, Venir had only taken a few steps in his direction when a column of flames surrounded him. Half-tempted to push through the column of flames Venir continue moving towards him until she caught sight of Ibara once more. The hole in his chest leaked a continuous flow of blood, making her grimace, but his words made her expression drop further.

"But we need to tend to your-"

Her voice fell as she had turned her gaze to the robot charging the laser. In terms of importance both were equal, Ibara's wounds seemed bad, but that laser was just as bad. Clearly torn between the two, Venir let out a huff of air "FINE!" She shouted back, "I'll take care of it but don't you dare die over here, or make any dumb decisions!" She growled before leaping from the building and onto the opposing one where the laser robot was. Trusting that Ibara would take care of himself Venir was left to figure out how to deal with the robot, that just looking at was clearly built better than the rest. Using just her own flaming fists would take too long to defeat it, and there was no telling when the laser was going to fire. An enemy of this caliber deserved more than a simple fist...

    "Flame Goddesses..."

Her right hand lit up with black flames, building up all of her fire power into just that hand. Wind ruffled through her hair, waiting for just the right moment to attack. Even at the sound of the explosion just one building over did not startle Venir. Her focus remained on her opponent, "Now." In a single breath she had closed the gap between her and the robot, its laser ready to fire any second,

    "STRIKE!"

Her hand decorated in dark flames moved forward as if to punch the robot, but instead her index finger was pressed tightly against her thumb, and then- FLICK! The robot did not move, the attack seeming ineffective until finally the force of the attack was registered. If the robot had lungs to breath from, the breath would have been knocked right out of it as its body went flying from the simple attack, it crashed and skidded along the roofs of countless buildings. It's body was engulfed in dark flames that melted the robots metal, and inner workings. Its laser would not fire due to the exterior and interior damage done to the robot. Not bothering to look to see if the robot was finished off by that attack, it had to have been, Venir instead turned her attention to the nearby collapsed building.

    "Oi!"

She cried out, vaulting off of the roof of her building and to the ground below in a quick graceful motion. Venir landed with a soft thud, the impact making her knee's squeak in protest, but she moved forward. Her eyes watered from the dust that floated through the air, and her lungs didn't fair much better but she pushed through it. Straining her senses for some sign of life, Venir finally heard something that might have been the dragon slayer. It took her a while to clear through some of the rubble, chunks of cerement, iron, and building were no easy task to lift even for her.

"I told you not to do anything stupid didn't I?"

    a dragon's tale: unexalted fear
    RISE
"With fire in our bellies and the sun in our soul!"
A grey smudge clouded the young dragon's vision, were his life to be over, he could only assume. An endless void filled with a dull and lifeless colour that consumed his senses; touch, taste, vision, smell. He coughed a few times and clouding gaseous debris filled the crevice that made way for it causing him to cough tremendously. The noise echoed through the air only to be interrupted by a continuous whirring; a familiar sound characterised by a metallic organism; a robot. But robots were a matter of his previous life, the time when he was alive; the time before the building caved in on him? But surely..?

An annoyingly yet relievingly-so blondette appeared out of the rubble and his vision was clear. His arms remained by his sides despite commanding them to move, they were shattered from the shoulders downwards. His legs were fully-functional; spared from the tumbling rocks that now lay in heaps around him, covering Motor City at it's core. His nose too, bloodied, broken and bruised; this definitely explained his lack of an ability to smell as it remained bent and battered every which way forming a rather inconceivable feature on his face. Blood littered his head but it was unrecognizable due to the distinctive red hue that adorned his locks.

"And to think I would have been rid of ya.."

Despite his harsh tone, he was relieved to see her face again. He spoke under his breath so as to not hurt her feelings because the sentimental value of having her search for him despite the overwhelming presence of danger that closed in from every angle was heart-warming; literally. The heat that radiated from her body was astounding, so recognizable in fact that it caused Ibara to twist slightly in his death-bed.

The sounds continued, an incessant whirring that grew closer and closer yet the woman whom seemed absolutely oblivious to everything even in the face of danger remained glancing at the young dragon at a distance that was far-too-close for comfort. Then it stopped before the whirring was replaced by an unsheathing of metal against leather straps. A robot skilled in the art of swordsmanship rushed at Venir with very little distance to between them. The fiery dragon slayer was unbeknownst to whether she would react in time so despite the unbearble pain that caused his body to protest in many more ways than one, he leapt to his feet, his arms dangling behind him like useless twigs in the wind. His body rocketed towards the robots and the young dragon twisted in an unrecognizable motion to narrowly avoid the passing blade that threatened to decapitate him on the spot. His mouth opened wide and he bit straight into the head of the robot and a crunching sound broke the silence. A few of his teeth crumbled to the floor but the vice-like grip of his jaws held true in the metallic cranium. A gurgle was heard but the pronunciation was audible.

    "FIRE DRAGON'S ROAR!"

From close range, an unhindered yet unprotected column of raw power burst from Ibara's mouth sending him backpedalling into the sky while incinerating the robot that he held locked down in the process. His body collapsed back on yet another rock, most likely shattering his remaining limbs in the process but nevertheless, he turned his head and grinned at the woman so as to represent his resilience; it was a man's thing after all.

"Stupid? I can still fight perfectly well, thank you very much! Remember what I said earlier? Don't patroness me, I can take care of myself!"

Ibara's voice diminished as it succumbed to the pain of his now-broken legs while he laid there limp on the floor. On the plus side though, the scientist approached now from the shadows, a wild-grin on his face that seemed to characterize his mood perfectly. There wasn't a robot in sight and despite the assurance of his safety; he didn't seem too happy.

"MY CREATIONS.. MY BEAUTIFUL CREATIONS.. BLASTED FIRE WIZARDS, YOU ARE NOTHING BUT DESTRUCTIVE, CAN'T EVEN CONSERVE YOUR OWN SKIN."

His glasses seemed to aim that comment at Ibara who remained broken on the floor but all the young dragon returned to him response was a spit of fire, a gesture he had given the scientist when they had first met. A growl then escaped his lips before turning his head back to Venir.

"I'll let you handle this one. I really think I could use a nap."

Despite the strength of his demeanor and character, his body couldn't hold out much more. His limbs eviscerated and devastated from the encounter, it was time for him to shut down, not for good; the young dragon was resilient but he could definitely use the rest after that ordeal. Before his eyes closed however, he threw a wink at the blondette, clearly her job wasn't far from over; she had one particularly crazed scientist to attend to.
