    Family Matters {Solo - Vesper} Empty Family Matters {Solo - Vesper}

    Job Info:

    "So as you can see...erm...sir?...anyway, the man is potentially very dangerous and with the city still rebuilding we just don't have the man-power to chase him around. If you catch him then you'll obviously be rewarded for your troubles." A Rune Knight was speaking nervously to the silent mage, completely unsure on what was going on behind that mask. Vesper mulled the job over in their mind; it was a simple enough task and apparently this convict had some level of magic in them, which would make it easier for Vesper to track them down. The black-robed mage nodded and could hear audible sighs of relief as the knights were clearly happy now that this mage wasn't seemingly a threat and was assisting them. "Thank you. I'll have a few men search the city as well so you're not alone. Best of luck to you."

    Vesper gave another nod and turned away. It was time to get to work.

    As Vesper walked they couldn't help but take in the sights of this rebuilding city. They didn't know the full story - they hadn't been in Fiore long enough to learn about it nor research it yet - but from what they could gather the entire city had been completely levelled in one of the biggest attacks in Fiore's history around a year or two ago. The fact they'd rebuilt this far was fairly impressive to say the least. Still, there was much work to be done and with the Rune Knights now fully re-established, it seemed there was as much work for them as for the building crews. It keeps them in a job I suppose... Vesper thought, before turning their attention back to the job at hand. There were no signs of a magical signature just yet, which was hardly surprising considering it was a main street. With that in mind, the silent mage swiftly ducked into an alleyway.

    And there it was; the magical signature that Vesper had been looking for. It was rather faint, so clearly the convict was quite a distance ahead of their would-be captor, but that wouldn't put Vesper off. In a burst of speed that would surprise most, the silent mage bolted down the alleyway using the occasional dustbin or cinderblock to jump over rubble and fences that had been put in place - fences which seemingly had achieved nothing as people were still climbing over them effortlessly. It wouldn't take long for Vesper to catch up to their prey although as they came out of the alleyway they came to a halt - the convict had stopped right at the end of the alleyway and was stood motionless whilst looking up at a house nearby. For an escaping convict, he wasn't trying very hard to actually escape. Nonetheless, Vesper was not about to risk it, pulling out their stave as they made their approach.

    "You needn't worry about me mage. I'm no threat to you." the convict called out. Vesper noted that his aura was certainly not a threatening one at this point in time, but kept their stave out all the same. "I just wish to see my family one more time...to ensure they'll be okay without me. I just wish to have a few moments and I will come quietly, no questions asked." he continued, looking around to face Vesper. It was a genuine plea. Vesper looked down at the ground somewhat sadly for a moment as a memory flashed across their mind before looking up and nodding to show their approval for the man's request. "Thank you..." the convict whispered before turning his attention back to the house. He moved a little closer now so that he could peep through the window, but was just out of sight of those inside.

    After a few moments the convict finally stepped away from the window, releasing a sigh as he did so. "Alright mage...let's go." he spoke softly, his head hanging low as he walked towards Vesper. The silent mage placed their stave back and began to walk alongside the man through the main streets. As they walked the convict began to speak. "I have a daughter...she's only young but she's bright. She deserves a better father than I...but she's always been happy with me. I...I've let her down. But I want to change. My acceptance to my crimes and my time spent in a cell will be the start of a new life for me. But I wanted to see my little girl one more time to keep my mind focused on my new goal. I thank you mage for granting me that."

    Vesper remained silent, stoic even as they neared the rune knights. "You caught him! Good job sir! We'll keep a closer eye on this bastard from now on." the knight rejoiced, putting a pair of cuffs on the convict before dropping a bag in Vesper's hand. "All the best sir, we'll be calling on you again if we need you."
