The Reluctant Traveler [Shuhei & Sango] Empty The Reluctant Traveler [Shuhei & Sango]

Post by Mifune 26th January 2015, 1:04 pm

The morning came regretfully to the White Wizard.  The sun peeked through the pillars and knocked on Shuhei's head with a sledge hammer.  Laying naked on his sofa with nothing but a silk sheet covering all that mattered, he pressed his hand on his forehead and let out a long, slow groan of regrets.  Empty bottles of wine and liquor riddled the floor, the coffee table and his bed.  The chamber seemed to be in utter disarray.  Pillows, sheets, Shuhei's robes as well as what appeared to be women's clothing riddled the floor and some of the furniture.  Hanging off the corners of shelves and unclosed drawers, even newspapers laid across the floor of his chamber, as if he'd thrown it across the room for some reason.  Shuhei's arm swung down to the floor, rooting through all of the empty bottles until his hand found one that wasn't completely empty.  Grasping the bottle he slowly raised it to his lips and tipped it upward until it was empty.  He hovered the bottle over his mouth for a moment, letting the last few drops fall in to his mouth.

He growled a bit as he sat up and threw his bottle across the room toward his bed, on which Leon slept comfortably curled up on one of Shuhei's large pillows.  "Leon!  We're out of booze!"  Shuhei growled and plopped backwards on to the sofa placing a hand over his eyes.  The bottle hit the headboard and landed next to Leon.  The Siamese feline sat up on the pillow and crossed his arms.  "God damnit I was having a good dream!"  Shuhei raised his other hand and flapped his hand at his exceed partner.  "Yeah yeah... Just, go get the wine."  Leon growled.  "Haven't you had enough?"  Suddenly another bottle came flying at the exceed, prompting him to leap off of the bed.  He looked and growled angrily at Shuhei.  "I'm going to get some fish.  Sober up why don't ya?"  Leon continued to march toward the door.  "Don't forget the wine when you come back!"  Shuhei shouted as the door slammed behind Leon. Shuhei's hand slid over his eyes, through his hair and behind his head as he sighed and stared blankly at the ceiling.

Ever since she had read the newspaper last morning, Sango had taken to avoiding Shuhei. Something important was about to happen in her home country, and it was something she wanted to be a part of. Simultaneously, she knew it was something that would cause the man she admired so much to become a pile of dirt under the weight of his own history and origin. But the day had passed, Sango had taken to herself and reflected on everything surrounding Desierto, the situation in the country and her own role.

The next morning, she had decided to come with a request to Shuhei, or rather a bid, maybe even something she would have to order him to do. But her mind was set on it. Walking through the long hallway that was open on both sides with the elongated marble pillars holding the ceiling, she noticed Leon approaching her. With a smile, she waved a greeting to him but had to notice that his mood seemed to be rather bad.

As Leon looked into her face that had morphed into a mix of concern and question, he stopped in his tracks and didn't exactly feel like telling her what she likely already knew. "Morning Sango..." He stated with a boldness in his voice, and instead of answering her questioning expression, he simply retorted with a sigh and "Ask the idiot. He's in his room." And floated on about. Sango raised a hand to her chest and took a moment to mentally equip herself with the tools necessary to endure whatever was going to await her in that room.

Arriving in front of the grand door, she took a last breath and then gently knocked thrice before creaking it open and entering. It smelled of alcohol and the unspeakable. Sango face immediately dropped to a not amused version of her otherwise so bright expression. "... Good Morning, Shuhei." She spat out on the floor, immediately regretting that she chose the tone she did. Not letting her eyes meet his, she walked over to his windows and drew the curtains to both sides, letting the daylight in fully.

"It's almost noon, you should get dressed..." Sango said, as a last casual remark. She didn't want to play around, she had noticed the newspaper scattered all across the floor. And everything else on there as well. Letting him spout out whatever he thought he needed to, she waited, and then scooped up the topic. "I take it, you read the newspaper?" Her tone had now morphed from the unamused strictness to a concerned shyness that she didn't know she was capable of.

    Knock. Knock. Knock.

To Shuhei they were the strikes of a hammer on the blacksmiths anvil, pounding in his brain. Quickly Shuhei covered his ears with his hands and and cringed in unrelenting pain. Creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek. Sango saw fit to open Shuhei's door painfully slow, and it creeked like a banshee screaming in Shuhei's face. Hands weren't enough... Shuhei stuffed his ears with the pillows on which he was laying. "Good God Leon, do you have to make so much noise?" Shuhei obviously wasn't expecting anymore company, so it came as quite a surprise when he opened his eyes and saw Sango. "Oh, good morning." He said in reply to her, unimpressed greeting. Suddenly the curtains opened fully and the light shown in like, himself, bright and undeniably brilliant. Shuhei flung himself backwards in shock at the sudden flash, turning the sofa over on himself as he flew backwards and sending the silk sheet that covered him in to the air. "Leon better hurry up..." He said under his breath from under the sofa as the sheet fluttered down on to the floor.

Shuhei clamored under the sofa for a moment, managing to escape unharmed. He swiftly took the sheet on the floor and in just a few swift motions he wrapped himself in a toga. Normally he'd be perfectly fine in his birthday suit, but from Sango's tone he thought it best to avoid disobeying her. If there was anything Shuhei hated, or rather feared in this world it was a woman's scorn and for some reason Sango's scorn hit him the hardest of all women. He scratched the back of his head as she inquired about the papers. "I skimmed through a few articles. They're closing my favorite pub on 34th street. You know? The Yellow Crab. They had the most delicious crab cakes, I'll miss them dearly." Shuhei slinked over to the bed and laid on his side. He took a bowl of berries from his night stand and began to snack on them, one at a time. "Care for a drink? Leon should be back any time now."

The Reluctant Traveler [Shuhei & Sango] Empty Re: The Reluctant Traveler [Shuhei & Sango]

Post by Shen Hakuhei 4th February 2015, 11:31 am

It was quiet for a moment after Shuhei had asked his question. Sango was thinking. Or rather, brooding over the things that stood before her. She looked out the window, anything to avoid having to see Shuhei how he was now. It wasn't as much that she couldn't bare it, he did things like these all the time. No, it were the circumstances out of which he was acting like a child again, the upcoming denial she had to face and an adult man she so desperately needed to come with her. It all made her so... angry. And anger was not something Sango wanted to feel right now.

Sighing, she looked to the floor and started tracing the ground until she had found what she was looking for. Grabbing the article from the ground and holding it in front of her face, she gasped in a flash of angst and desperation. Crumpling up the paper and throwing it at Shuhei, rather than to Shuhei, Sango went back to look out the window. "I'm not thirsty, and I don't drink alcohol." She expressed calmly, knowing that Leon wouldn't be back for the rest of the day.

"Shu... Shuhei. I came here to ask you for a favor." Sango stated with a tingling sense of uncomfortability in her voice. She didn't want to do this, but she had to. Who was she kidding, she needed to do this, or there wouldn't be a speck of her body making any moves towards the place she wanted to be at most right now. "I know you read it... that article." It was a section out of the coloumn "News from across the world". The biggest news from all over Earthland were gathered on a double spread. And this week's biggest news?

    "Sultan of Desierto assassinated!

After the events of last month, where the heir to the throne of the West Sultan's household married the daughter of the Southern Sultan's, and thus conjoined two of the country's kingdoms, the sultan of the Southern Household was assassinated in cold blood! He died while still in his chambers, the assassin was caught and questioned and gave information about his contractors.

None other than politicians from the Western Household are said to have been the clients of the assassin. This puts the nation in shock, and the already instable political condition is beginning to tilt.[...]

[...] However, at the end of the coming week the recently crowned sultan of the now South-Eastern household is making a public statement in the capital of Desierto [...]"

Sango hadn't looked away from the window for even a second. In silence, she sat there waiting for Shuhei to say something meaningful about the situation. It was until she couldn't bare it anymore, and asked him straight ahead. "What do you think about it?" She asked with all of the concern she was trying to swallow.

The Reluctant Traveler [Shuhei & Sango] Empty Re: The Reluctant Traveler [Shuhei & Sango]

The silence was deafening. Shuhei knew what Sango was looking for as she started tracing through the articles until she found the one that Shuhei had been glancing at all night, and picked it up. He wasn't quite sure how to react when she crumpled up the paper and threw it at him. Comically it struck him on the forehead and bounced off, landing in front of him next to his grape bowl. Calmly he uncrumpled it and read the article, fully as Sango replied to him. The night before, he hadn't actually made it past the headline. It was at that point that he threw it across the room and started his bender. Upon finishing it, Shuhei let it drift aside on to the floor again, finally knowing the truth about his father...

Despite how calm and carefree Shuhei might have appeared to someone who didn't know him, a moments hesitation after reading the article, revealed the depth of his sorrow. His eyes fixated on the grape bowl desperately trying not to look Sango in the eye, while smiling fraudulently. He exhaled heavily before plucking a grape and flicking it in to his mouth and replied as he chewed. "Oh, that article. Well, it sounds like they've got some major political issues. I hope they can sort everything out before it turns in to a civil war." Shuhei held no tone of concern in his voice. His eyes moved up to meet Sango's as he placed another grape on his tongue and rolled on to his back, placing his hands behind his head as he rested on one of his enormous pillows. "I don't know if I'm in the favor giving sort of mood today. Maybe Zack could help you, he's quite capable." He said, avoiding Sango's inquiry.
