Whacking weeds and other noble deeds [Noel & Aiden, Job]

At last, you are split from the chains of restrictions and limitations, free to challenge the whole wide world with your wit and sorcerous talent. You dream of an epic tale to kickstart a whimsical, grandiose career as a guild sorcerer. Whatever could it be, slaying a dangerous beast, protecting the innocent from a grave threat, or… pulling weeds?

Noel wasn’t sure how he came to be in this situation, but his feet were now firmly atop the ancient Beanstalk Village. The town was certainly an interesting sight, though it was ultimately the massive beanstalk that would catch the newcomer’s attention. He’d never been one to be afraid of heights, but this went a bit too far for his ease.

Fortunately enough, there would be a kind soul to calm his oh-so-important worries. A fellow guild member had also ended up on this quest, making this the first time Noel would have ever had to work with another person from his new crew. The avid stargazer wasn’t sure whether the second pair of hands was really needed, though. I mean, how difficult could plants really be? They’d find out soon enough.

Stood at the edge of town, Noel peered over the grassy, lightly forested plains before him. His keen eyes squinted at the strange purple plants scattered over the area as his mind tried to figure out what made them so special.

“So this is our infamous target, huh.” The dark-haired sorcerer revealed his exaggerated depiction in a snarky tone, blue eyes still aimed forward. Needless to say, he wasn’t impressed.

“Do you happen to have green fingers, by any chance? Plants and I aren’t exactly the dearest friends.” Noel’s feet shifted as he peeked to the side. As much as he liked looking at flora from a distance, that was about the extent of his appreciation. He was more than happy to bring out his blade and slice up a storm, but in the spirit of Meliora Vitae, he at least wanted to give his guild member a chance to propose a less violent means to their end.

This was the second mission that Aiden had been sent on since joining the guild, however last time it was by his own decision. This job in particular came as a direct request from the guild to help a fellow guild member. Normally, he wouldn't enjoy being told what to do because he saw himself as a higher form of being than those around him but, in truth, he still didn’t know much about this world he had been thrown into so why not use this opportunity to do some research.

When doing a debrief about the mission beforehand he wasn’t too sure why he needed to even go to aid his guild member as the job only called for pulling some weeds but soon after he arrived he would find that things were a bit more complicated than just that. When arriving however he would see that he was to help a boy that he had met previously, whom he would regard with a simple “Oh, It’s you.”

He instantly became interested in the beanstalk village as he had never seen a town that was able to sustain itself so high in the air. As soon as he got there he would send out his trusty companion, Data-VI, to start scanning the area and gather information for it’s database. It would collect data on the wildlife, flora, and other ecological information of the town before returning to its owner's side.  

Hearing his partner speaking to him Aiden would give his attention. “I’ll be honest with you… I’m not too sure what I’m looking at in regards to these weeds.” he would squat down to look at the tiny plants a little closer while still keeping his distance just in case.

“However, they look out of place compared to the rest of the flora that is growing around here.” He placed his finger on his chin and tapped it for a few seconds before snapping and standing up straight as an idea had popped into his head.

“Data-VI, would you fly over there and scan those plants for us? I would like to know more about what we are working with before moving in.” He would turn to his robotic, star shaped companion. With a little blip the tiny robot would hover over to the plants, letting out a light blue, cone shaped scanner and would stay there for a few seconds before returning to Aiden.

“You were correct, this plant is definitely not normal sir. It seems to have some sort of poisonous properties to it so I would advise against getting too close or touching it with your bare hands.” it would report before turning to Noel “If it would set Master Noel’s worries at ease: The plant is definitely harmful to the environment here and should be dealt with as such.”

Aiden would clap his hands together  “That means we can go all out then.” he said, gently motioning his hand into the air gracefully. Half a second later, five balls of flame would start to form in the air, each swirling with electricity and bursting with red plasma. Once they got large enough he would bring his hand down quickly “Solar Meteor!”.

The flaming balls would fly down to the flowers and collide with them on the ground, hitting five of them but not destroying them completely. The five plants would look very damaged however.

Aiden would look to his partner and motion towards the plants “Feel free to go wild. But do remember we need at least one sample for the client.” he said, smirking at Noel.
