The neutral grounds were never his favorite place. The first time he accidentally visited, he'd been doing a round-trip fly around over Fiore and then suddenly his wings were gone, sending him plummeting to the ground! That hospital visit had lasted about a month and for a while he thought his shoulder would never be the same, but in the end it ended up all okay. This time he didn't make the same mistake. The golden boy took a train in like everyone else, though he felt so pedestrian about it. It'd been a long while since he'd had to rely on transportation that wasn't his wings or some other take over he was working on.

Once off the train, Icarus wasted no time-- no that was a lie. Icarus was a pro at wasting time. Even if this place was magicless, he still took his time. He checked out the cafes and taverns. There was an adorable girl working in one of the taverns that he stopped for a drink just to chat with her. An Elizabeth, common name but she was sweet in her normalcy. She also seemed sweet on him, given those rosy cheeks and shy smiles. After a free drink she gifted him, he knew he had to be on his way. The company of others was something he cherished in a way, though he found it odd that his aloof attitude he used to try and ward off most from getting too close actually drew people in. Funny how nature worked that way. The more mysterious, the more morbid curiosity, perhaps. Icarus these days was not a man of commitments and being tied down, and thus he rolled on like the tumbleweed he was.

A gambling establishment, a noodle restaurant, a back-alley entrance for those willing to pay for love, a floristry, an apothecary, a market. All so normal, but then again, why shouldn't it be? Perhaps he was prejudiced against the unnatural blocking of magics. Yeah, that was probably it. Who were these people to shut off nature's gift to man under the farce of true neutrality? It felt more like oppression, like something being tested before being used on the whole world. For now he'd leave it, but it was certainly a concern on his extensive radar.

Icarus also wasn't a huge fan of technology. So why was he after a phone, you ask? The world was evolving, and a lot of plans were hatched over the new levels of constant communication. Plus, now that he was in a guild, it'd probably be nice to be able to contact one another in emergencies. A phone would have been nice that time he flew over this very area and nearly died...

Hardly ever impatient, waiting in line was no big deal. No use rushing or getting frustrated. Time marched on and it was just part of life to have to wait for gratification. His mind merely wandered as slow and steady as the clouds above over his plans for later today, over Elizabeth and her supple curves, over how off balance he felt without his wings on his back. To him it felt like a couple minutes had passed, but really it'd been about a half hour when he finally reached the man at the window that handed over his new device. He tucked it away to check out later, wandering back off to see where the wind took him.
