Shark, Succubus and Summer Empty Shark, Succubus and Summer

Post by Cetus 24th June 2019, 9:03 pm

Cetus couldn't believe how hot it was today. Yet people insisted on being outside for this inane festival. What reason possessed them to do so? There was power in the air. That might be a reason. Perhaps this festival served a dual purpose. Little over a month ago, Cedar had been burned to the ground. There had only been thirty survivors. That was out of a town of thousands. The past month had been spent building Cedar back up again. Only recently, they'd finished two-thirds of the restoration. This festival could be a way to celebrate.

A few details were withheld from the public regarding the destruction of Cedar. One, a single mage was behind it all. Two, the local Rune Knights had been staked in the center of the ash field left behind. A message had been written around them. Cetus was only privy to the information since he'd perpetrated the incident. He was surprised that the Magic Council and the Rune Knights would hide such information. They deliberately kept the danger of one potentially powerful dark mage from the public. What was their goal in that? It was neither here nor there in terms of this festival, however.

The heat was hard on Cetus. His skin dried out quickly. It was an unpleasant experience. He preferred cooler climates. Only a single experience made being hot alright. That included other more pleasurable activities. Yet here he was. Standing amidst the new residents of Cedar. No one batted an eye at him. Several eyed his attire. Some in appreciation. Several women had already called out to him as he strolled through the streets.

The thin black fabric clung to his muscular chest. His arms stood bare against the radiance of the sun. His legs were outlined in shorts that might have been a little too tight. Ergo they didn't hide much. His face also was bare. He hated it. The assassin was used to having something covering his face at all times. A shadow in the night, the stalker of the mists, that's what he was meant to be. Someone who could disappear without a trace. So why was he here? Information gathering and a small incessant feeling in his stomach.

It was a desire to see Pandora Dagger again. Not for any particular reason. Merely a hope that seeing her, interacting with her, might trigger more emotions. He might remember something about that woman. After making love to the beautiful Dagger, there had been a brief flash of memory. A woman's face. It had been coupled with intense emotions. The flash had been too brief for any real information. Maybe interacting with Pandora again would give him more to go on.

Cetus stopped at a booth. He smiled at the attendee. "Might I have one of those?" He asked gesturing to enchanted apples. They were a little pricey but he was attempting to fit in. It seemed like something Caimilier would buy. The woman handed him an apple. When he tried to pay, she waved a hand. "With a voice like that, it's on the house, honey." She threw a wink at him. Cetus smiled and thanked her. Inwardly, the assassin was confused. What did his voice have to do with not paying? Was it another emotional thing he barely understood?

Troubled, the assassin stepped back into the flowing crowd. There were games, food, laughter, music all around. Nothing touched the shark man's soul. It was disappointing. This was where people came to revel and enjoy themselves. He wasn't able to feel any of it. Stepping out of the crowd again, Cetus approached one of the games. It was a ring toss. Something he should easily accomplish. Maybe actually participating would help him feel anything.

Four rings were handed to him. The assassin took a couple of practice flicks to get a feel of them. They were fairly light. There was something off about the balance. Something had been embedded in one side of the rings. What purpose did that serve? Cetus turned to the game. The idea was to get the most points possible. The golden bottle was worth the most points. A certain amount of points got you a prize. Something felt wrong. The feeling flared the moment he released the first ring. It sailed through the air, perfectly aligned with the golden bottle. However, the trajectory moved midair. The ring sank down over a nearby green bottle. Low points. Cetus frowned, trying again. This time he tried to throw it low and fast. The ring sailed past the golden bottle. It sank on a red bottle this time. Again, low points.

Cetus inspected the throwing rings. Something was preventing him from getting the golden bottle. Both of those rings should have sunk directly onto it. They'd been carried or pushed, somehow influenced past it. The assassin stepped back from the table. Instead of finishing his game, he handed the rings to a small child waiting in line. Cetus flashed the girl's mother a smile in response to her gratitude. Then he stepped off to the side to watch.

The girl was a good thrower. At least, she showed promise. She tossed the rings sloppily. Yet whenever they neared the golden bottle, they soared past. The little girl missed with one ring entirely. The other landed on a silver bottle in the far back. That, combined with the points Cetus had already scored, landed her a teddy bear. The girl's mother thanked Cetus again. He bowed his head. "It was no problem, ma'am." There was something off about this game and he wanted to figure it out. He watched for a while as others stepped up to try their luck. The shark-man didn't plan to move until he cracked this mystery.

    Summer Festival

Ah, the wonder of a festival. And with such warmth beating down from the sun, there was very little need to wear heavy or concealing clothing. Kessicia found it wondrous to be among the many denizens of Cedar as they took part in the summer festival, experiencing their heightened emotions as they gambled and played and flirted and overall let loose. It seemed the season had brought with it an energy that flowed through all living things and it inspired them to go into the humid days and nights and partake in festivals and parties that many couldn’t have during the winter months. The succubus admired many as they walked through their masses, taking in the sights of all the beauty that life could grant.

Lord Ruzatz had granted her a new perspective, opening her eyes to the wonder of the world. It was true that he hadn’t exactly given her any direct education (beyond what he and his queen had shown her between the bed sheets) but it had been that week of time with them that had made her more aware. Her deep love for Pandora had been a triggering event and the downfall of it, or the rising event, had been understanding that life was precious. Her anger and hatred for those that had wronged her practically since birth was fleeting and an example of someone clinging to the past in an attempt to symbolize what she was meant to be. She could be greater than that and she would – that was her new life goal, after all. That and assisting Dies Irae with the removal of dark wizards throughout Earthland. But today wasn’t a day to wonder about that; this was a day of celebration!

Kessicia had been enjoying a sweet alcoholic beverage when one of the women that had been eying her finally approached her. As a side effect of her abilities and magic, humans with limited magic were drawn to her and were almost instantly attracted to her. She was used to it at this point – in fact, she very much enjoyed the attention and the opportunity to meet and get to know people. She was dressed in a loose, robin egg colored kimono that did accentuated her bust and hips but did a fair job of covering the rest of her. Intricate black markings adorned the fabric all over, symbolic drawings of some language that many wouldn’t know off hand. A golden sash wrapped around the front to keep the kimono tied to her body, combined in an eccentric bow in the rear. Her hair was up, much like she wore it when she was on duty, with a sash that wrapped around her locks and forced it into a raised tail. A sunflower top was pinned to the hair tie, the petals in full bloom against her violet follicles.

The woman had been complimentary, surprisingly well mannered considering how much her eyes kept roaming over the succubus. Kessicia had delighted in learning of Rosa’s name and even more in taking her to a secluded tent and spending some private time with her. After finishing and stepping out to move on, her eyes fell on the image of a very handsome man approaching one of the tented games. He stood out among the crowd even when trying to blend in, with soft sapphire hair and a body that looked ready to break through his clothes. She mused softly to herself as she slowly walked to the edge of the opening between tents, her golden eyes now keenly stuck to him.  He had decided on a ring toss game and as Kessicia watched him, she could quite visibly see his confusion as his tosses seemed to arc away from his targets. Even from here she could tell he was practiced in aim and that his throws going awry were tilting him a bit.

Rather than finish the game, he turned and handed his last rings to a small girl in line. Then he poised himself off to the side to watch, now more than interested in what was occurring. Slowly Kessicia came up off to his side, walking at the same pace one would if they were just as interested in the game. The girl he had gifted his chances to managed to score a moderately pointed bottle, though she had seemingly missed an opportunity to win big as well. It was enough for her to gain a prize and her mother showed her appreciation to the man once more for the offer. But clearly he was more interested in the curiosity of the game than the gratitude, the handsome man unmoving.

“Magic,” she said softly as she came to rest beside Cetus, a soft and warm smile upon her face as she looked at him. “Such festivities are meant to inspire competition, desire, a need to succeed,” she nodded to the next man in line, who was bragging to his friends off to the other side. As he took the rings offered to him, he jokingly mimed throwing them and scoring large points, amassing cheers and jeers from his compatriots. “Many believe that such games are rigged for the sake of cheapening the experience, to rob the partaker of their hard earned jewel. But if anything, it’s a lesson on reality. Life doesn’t always go the way you may have it planned. One second, you’re heading for the gold.” She pointed gently to the man’s first ring as he wound up and tossed. Much like the handsome man, his throw was near perfect – within hindrance, it would swing around the bottle’s mouth and sink down onto it. But Kessicia moved her finger with the bottle just as the magic in it took effect and the ring sailed to the right, landing on a dull, blue bottle. The hoots and hollers from the man’s friends were loud enough to catch anyone’s attention. “Such things require study so I commend you for taking the time. Others are…” As she spoke, the man who had tossed the first ring began to yell about rigging and tossed the rings in one angry bunch, stomping away. “… less patient.”

She suddenly realized she was simply talking to the man like a friend and chuckled. “My apologies. I’m Kessicia. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Shark, Succubus and Summer Empty Re: Shark, Succubus and Summer

Post by Pandora Dagger 4th August 2019, 6:26 am

A bright smile adorned the red-haired female's face as she made her way through the crowds of the Summer Solstice festival in Cedar; for once, without a cane. And it was that lack of walking around without her trusted means of physical support that fueled the smile even more. Her remaining eye sparkled with a playful happiness as she eagerly looked around her, taking in the view of the many fun and games spread around her. One would expect a grown woman to enjoy the means of alcoholic beverages and food stands more than the gaming stalls around her, but she felt little for sitting still now she could properly walk again. She just couldn't help it. The lacrima leg had been a success. Although not entirely up to standards yet, Pandora was capable of walking around with it and even do somewhat heavier exercises as she went out ro train; the prosthetic held on well, with the lacrima fuelling the illusion that it looked and felt like an actual leg rather than a wooden prosthetic. And the one she had to thank this miracle to was none other than Caimileir, a man she'd come across when visiting Oak Town. It had been a rather curious way in which the two had met; she wanting to meet with the local craftsmen, and he in search of particular tomes for his magic. But things had gone rather fast once they'd met. He'd almost immediately figured out what she needed and proposed a trade; he would craft her a prosthetic leg, and she would help him find a book in relation to his magic. A quick agreement, that went from purely business to a passionate encounter in only a few hours of time.

She'd enjoyed her time with him, yet it had also left her with a wide variety of mixed feelings, each struggling within her to overthrow the other feelings. Despite her happiness regarding her newfound mobility, it had left her conflicted and pondering. At this point she couldn't deny that what she was feeling for her benefactor were feelings of affection; surfaced from a curious resemblance with her deceased lover that kept overthrowing his image. Even so, these feelings of affection were different from the ones she felt for Kessicia, who might as well be the true source of her troubled mind. It might not be fair towards the cyan-haired adonis, but Pandora was far more worried about the reaction her lover would have to finding out she slept with another than vice versa. Losing her affection would be the same as losing everything all over again. Honestly, Pandora wouldn't blame Kessicia if she were to walk out on her once she heard the truth. She knew she'd be heartbroken if that happened, but she'd understand. She'd be deserving of it.

Wanting to gain a clear conscience, the warrioress had set out to find Kessicia, for the first time in a while cursing the fact that she hadn't gotten her hands on an iLac yet, as it'd be a lot easier to pinpoint the Dessiertan's location. Alas, she had to do this the old-fashioned way; asking around and rumours. So she'd been picking up on some intel regarding her lover, and if they proved correct she was supposed to be in the area. And, if Pandora was lucky, she might even find Kessicia here among the many people attending the festival. The redhead hoped so. The matter was eating at her quite badly, and the guilt whenever her mind dared wander off to any of the memories she had of either Kessicia or Caimileir were more painful than she could've ever imagined. All of that was the reason she now found herself amidst the crowds, her happy mood immediately taken down a notch when she reminded herself why she was here. And that wasn't exactly fun.

Shaking her head, Pandora tried to clear her mind. For now, she needed to focus. Or at least relax, either was fine. As she went, she could feel the stares burning into her body. A pair of short black jeans shorts sporting a cartoonesque skull on the back, and a white top with wide, see-through three-quarter sleeves and open back. Her hair was tied in her signature wild ponytail, and for today she'd forgone wearing her eyepatch. Even though the top was supposed to be loose in nature, her bussum was a bit too generous to warrant a non-cleavage look. At least it wasn't as bad as when she wore her signature kimono, which left even less to the imagination of most onlookers. Frankly, she could miss the lecherous eyes trying to undress her, and fixed it with a well-aimed glare; most stopped immediately when they saw the scar on her face. Pandora huffed softly and continued making her way through the crowds. Showing her visible scars were usually a very good way of keeping unwanted company away from her. Pandora sighed deeply and stopped, leaning back into one of the stall posts as she gazed across the crowds. Gods she missed her. And if she had to be completely honest, she kinda missed him too. Was it due to the fact that she once again was wandering around on her own, all alone? The redhead hated being alone.

Her gaze had been absent-mindedly resting upon a young child at apple-bobbing stand, fervently trying to catch one of the red apples in a small vat. The young girl, probably 6 or 7 years old, brought back nostalgic feelings and memories of the redhaired warrioress' past. Of her own son playing games and trying to win them with a passion only children could muster. It made her smile. She didn't know why, but she felt a sense of pride within her when the girl managed to catch an apple and pull it out of the water. Even though the kid dropped it before she could actually get it in the basket. The girl tried again, caught one, and dropped it just at the edge. It happened again, and again, to the point that the young girl was now sulking, frustrated and on the brink of tears. Pandora was rooting for the child, and watched carefully as the kid caught the apple again. Something flickered near the apple for a split second, and the apple fell once again. It was game over for the girl, and Pandora noticed how the small body was tensing up, ready to throw a tantrum when the girl's mother told her she wasn't allowed to play again and that they'd be moving on to the next stall. The redhead pushed herself up and walked towards the two, tapping the woman on her shoulder. She turned around and looked at Pandora's face rather suspiciously upon seeing the scar; "My apologies for interrupting, ma'am, but," Another flickering right beside the young girl caught her eye and Pandora's hand moved swiftly, as if she caught something in the air that wasn't there. "This little rascal has been messing with your daughter's game earlier." Pandora opened her hand, revealing a small sprite within the palm of her hand, its wings stuck between the redhead's fingers so it could not escape. The mother stared at the small struggling sprite in disbelief, while the girl looked at it in awe. A real fairy! "I figured I'd catch it before it ruined the experience of this fesitval for you and your daughter." she gave the confused mother a smile and lowered her hand a bit more so the girl could see the sprite better. "These pranksters like teasing kids, so they could be anywhere." The kid gasped and looked at Pandora with wide eyes, almost whispering as if her words were top-secret. "There are more?" The warrioress smiled and squat down before the child, nodding. "Mhm, waaaay more. They're all hiding, waiting to tease other kids who want to play… so I'm trying to find and catch all of them to shoo them away." The child's eyes couldn't get any bigger with excitement. "How about you help me out with catching them? Your mommy can help too, because she can feel where the fairies are hiding. Don't you, mommy?" she looked up at the girl's mother, who'd caught on with what Pandora was doing, and gratefully picked in on her story. "That's right. Mommy knows where they're hiding." The girl looked at her mother in awe. "So if you follow your mommy like a good girl, you two can go catch the fairies. All you have to do is blow up into the sky really, really hard when your mommy says there's a fairy. Because they're small, you'll blow them away so they can't tease you or other kids. Can you do that for me?" Pandora asked kindly. The kid nodded fiercely, as if she'd been given a sacred task she needed to complete. She grabbed her mother by the hand and started pulling her along. "Come on mommy! We gotta catch the fairies!" she exclaimed enthusiastically, urging her mother to follow. The woman laughed and reassured her daughter, turning around to mouth "Thank you" at Pandora before disappearing in the masses.

She rose back up to her feet again and smiled. She was glad to be of help, and at the same time it was a much-welcomed distraction from her mental torment. Pandora rose her hand, looking at the sprite she'd caught earlier. "Now, what do I do with you?" she looked at the small thing violently struggling within her palm. A whole series of furious tingling came from the small sprite, which made the redhead frown. "Well look at that, ain't you got quite the colorful vocabulary for such a small thing." The sprite stopped abruptly, staring at Pandora. It then replied in a different series of tingling noises. "Yeah I can understand you just fine, what's so weird about that? And besides… you should be way nicer to others." She flicked the sprite once putting it down, and saw how the tiny being flew into a tantrum. "Yeah yeah, if you behaved I wouldn't have to do this! Now off you go little one." Leaving the angry sprite be, the warrioress turned around, ready to be on her way when she stopped dead in her tracks. No way.

Right in front of her, at the other side of the small square, stood a familiar face. The familiar face she was dying to meet again, but was afraid to face, still took her breath away whenever she saw her. Kessicia was and would always be a sight for sore eyes, and the redhead knew that all too well. It was but one of the things she loved about her. As her eye etched her lover's new attire into her mind, her gaze wandered to see who she was with; another epitaph of beauty, but in the male variant. Awfully familiar as well… she gasped softly when her gaze rested upon the man's face, her realisation eons too late. Caimileir. Recognising the man erupted the same fluttery feeling in her stomach as Kessicia had moments earlier, but said feeling quickly shifted into fear as her stomach cramped together. The happy look on her face paled, and Pandora nearly staggered backwards. Her worst-case scenario had just become reality. The woman inched back step by step. She couldn't face both of them at the same time, she wasn't mentally prepared for that. Her eyes shifted left, right, back to the twosome again, and away again, trying to think of what to do. The sprite, who'd still been glaring at Pandora all this time, noticed how the woman had started acting awfully strange. Clever as it was, it quickly figured out that the two people she had her eyes on were the cause of it… and her attempts to hide and stay out of sight made it only more tempting. It smirked. Time for revenge. It flew to Pandora's side, making sure to remain in the woman's line of sight as it faced her, a sly grin on its face as it tingled in amusement. Pandora stared at the sprite with big eyes, her lips slightly parted. "You wouldn't--" The sprite's eyes sparkled with a spark of devious intent. Then, it bolted.

Pandora almost lunged at the sprite as it blasted forward towards the twosome on the other side of the small square. "N-no! Don't you even dare-!!!" But missed the nimble sprite as it stayed out of her grasping reach, and was left struggling as it headed straight towards Kessicia and Caimileir. Shit. She wasn't ready for this. Meeting one of them would already be hard enough as is, leave alone both when she still needed to explain the entire situation to either of them. Panic ensued as the small sprite nearly catapulted itself into the the Dessiertan beauty's face to get her attention, and fluttered in between her and Cetus to get them to look at the sprite, who was then gesturing in the direction she was standing in. The cursed Dagger didn't know what to say or even remotely do if they were to see her right now. But she couldn't just run away and risk losing sight of either of them; blame her sense of responsibility for that. So instead of freezing even more, Pandora's body moved as one; hide. Somewhere. Anywhere. The apples. Her hand was already digging into her pocket for jewels before she'd made the steps needed to get to the bobbing apples stand. Pushing the jewels into the man's hands she took a deep breath and made the plunge, headbutting a few apples as she went. Didn't matter. As long as she kept her head dipped into the vat, they wouldn't recognise her face. Damned sprite… she'd get the stupid little cur back for that.

Shark, Succubus and Summer Empty Re: Shark, Succubus and Summer

Post by Cetus 4th August 2019, 6:18 pm

Cetus listened carefully to the woman that had started talking to him. He wasn't sure whether she meant to be talking to someone else or not. However, finding what she had to say rather interesting, he decided not to interrupt. He watched the boastful newcomer try out the game. Listened to the woman's commentary on how the game was a lesson in life. That was one thing he could resonate with. Life only allowed what you took from it. It never gave you anything. Watching the braggart walk away with cold eyes, the assassin couldn't help himself. If this was a lesson in life, perhaps he should drive it home.

"Caimileir and if you could excuse me for just one moment..." He stepped away without ever looking at the woman. He knew what she looked like. Chocolate skin, white kimono with black markings, yellow sash, vibrant purple hair. Watching from your peripheries was something all Order of Law assassins learned early. Cetus handed a few jewels to the stand teller. Turning around, he called out to the sore loser. "Hey! Perhaps you should get good, instead of complaining about the game being rigged!" The man spun around. His group of friends stood behind him. Cetus grinned cheekily, spinning a ring lazily around his finger. Without looking, Cetus tossed one of the rings backward. The gasps from onlookers and the catcalls of the man's friends confirmed the assassin's guess. His grin grew wider as his arm whipped out to the side. Another ring went flying behind his back. Whistles accompanied this one. More people began gathering around. The man's face got red with anger. Cetus bowed, flipping the last ring out of his hand at the end. Clapping erupted from the small crowd. The assassin checked over his shoulder. Three rings stacked neatly atop each other on the golden bottle. The teller seemed stunned. Cetus chuckled, even as the man erupted.

"You cheated! There's no way you could have made those throws! You must have used magic." The man's hands balled into fists. His friends probably weren't helping, laughing and hooting at him as they were. Cetus turned around to face the man. He struggled to keep his natural cold look from his eye. Caimilier was a country boy. He wouldn't have the face of an assassin. "Trust me, friend, if I was using magic, you would know." "Bullshit! You must have something up your sleeves!" Cetus only smiled as he patted his bare arms. The crowd laughed at his antics. Cetus knew the moment the man broke. His face turned purple before he launched himself into a charge. Yellow energy streamed back from a point above his lowered head.

Interesting tactic, Cetus thought, tilting his head. It kept you from seeing your opponent. Then there was the idiocy of attacking an opponent without knowing their capabilities. Cetus opened his mouth and sang. "I can show you the world, shining shimmering splendid, tell me, princess, now when did you last let your heart decide?" As his baritone voice filled the air, the man began to float. He scrambled at the air trying to find purchase. He might have bellowed but Cetus was focused on his song. A few people stepped forward but Cetus waved them back. All gravity had vanished in the affected area. As his 'country boy' was a good person, he wouldn't want others injured by the spell. That didn't keep him from injuring his attacker though. "I can open your eyes, take you wonder by wonder, over sideways and under, on a magic carpet ride" Bubbles filled the gravity-free area. Each was clear for the moment. Cetus planned to change that. "A whole new world, A new fantastic point of view, No one to tell us no, Or where to go, Or say we're only dreaming" The bubbles started filling with fantastical images. Images of other worlds filled each floating orb. Children squealed with delight. Even a few adults squealed happily. Cetus smiled as he sang, finishing up his spell. "A whole new world, A dazzling place I never knew, But when I'm way up here, It's crystal clear, That now I'm in a whole new world with you." The bubbles began moving about the affected area. The struggling man seemed to know instinctively not to touch them. Good, he wasn't a complete moron. Those orbs looked pretty but they held dastardly power. A brush with one wouldn't end well. Cetus raised his voice so the crowd could hear. "Alright everyone! Look but don't touch! Oh and ignore the ugly man in the middle. He's not apart of the magic."

Cetus turned back toward Kessicia. He bowed his head to her. "My apologies. That took a little longer than expected." The shark-man gestured toward the ring toss. His prize still awaited to be retrieved. "To make amends, please take the prize. I only truly wished to crack the mystery of the game. Being from the country, I wasn't privy to many of these uh carnivals. Thankfully, your explanation and watching the others play helped me solve the enigma." Cetus paused, tapping his chin. "In truth, perhaps take the prize as both amends and a thank you. Without your kindly insight, I might not have solved it." Not entirely true but he could afford to appear magnanimous. It was a pity he couldn't feel that emotion. Perhaps interacting with Kessicia would invigorate his emotional centers.

Cetus smiled at the... priestess? Shrine maiden? Something else? He wasn't quite sure the purpose of Kessicia's outfit. A small mental note was made to ask about it sometime. "If you'd allow me to reintroduce myself, I am Caimileir." He held out his hand to the woman. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Kessicia. Tell me what brings you to the carnival? Family? Friends?" Cetus wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. "Perhaps a hot date?" Deam had always said humor was a selling point with women. Cetus tried but he couldn't seem to get the words right. They always sounded wrong to him. However, they appeared to work most of the time. People smiled or laughed at his 'jokes'. Ah to feel the joy when he laughed. Maybe Pandora was here. He should go find her, to feel again. It might even help him with his humor.

Cetus listened carefully to Kessicia's responses. He wondered if she wouldn't mind helping out a 'bumbling country boy'. While the feelings weren't as powerful as with Pandora, Kessicia's voice sent emotion spiking through his chest. Rather like comparing a shot to a long draw from the bottle. Both equally good in their own right but different. "Perhaps... uh... that is, if you wouldn't mind... perhaps you'd like to help a poor country boy find his way around a carnival? You seem quite wise in the ways of the world. While I know and understand a few things, there seems to be more out there to explore and learn about. I..." Cetus paused, catching sight of someone across the square. It was from the corner of his eye. Turning his head just so, the shark-man saw Pandora start inching away. Interesting. She'd been rather hands-on last time they'd been together. Was it something he'd done? Kessicia? Something else that made the woman think she could sneak away? Cetus almost moved after her. Ah, wait, Caimileir wouldn't have seen her. Continue the conversation. "...uh... I could benefit greatly from your wisdom." He smiled shyly at Kessicia. The assassin kept an eye on Pandora.

Cetus was about to shift toward his one-time lover when a sprite nearly rocketed into Kessicia's face. He nearly snatched it out of the air. What was it doing? It flew into his face, forcing him a step back. Cetus used the step to pivot in Pandora's direction. The sprite was gesturing at something. Pandora? That was strange. Had the woman done something to warrant their attention? Or was she avoiding their gaze? Cetus gently caught the little bugger on its seventh time around. Enough of that. Was Pandora jealous? Was she worried about Kessicia getting jealous? It was conceivable that Pandora had another lover. Not that the woman had said anything to him. Dratted emotions. Why did they have to go and complicate everything?

Cetus saw Pandora plunge her head into an apple basin. An apple basin filled with water. Fear clutched at his heart. He couldn't enjoy it much as he plunged into the crowd. "PANDORA! NOT THE WATER! IT'S NOT WATERPROOFED YET!" He shouted across the square. There was no telling if she heard him or not. That woman! Hadn't he told her about it not being waterproof? Ah, his beautiful creation! Now it was probably ruined. Why couldn't these people move? Cetus wanted to blow them away with magic. The only thing keeping him from doing so was possibly blowing his cover. Cetus enjoyed... well, appreciated having a cover identity. His recent actions in the HB and as Dubhar had gathered attention. It made it difficult to move around at times. The MC was sure to be cracking down on him sooner rather than later.

Cetus reached the apple bobbing game. His internal craftsman groaned. Pandora was getting water everywhere. What was she doing? Trying to hide? The sprite in his fist cackled gleefully. Releasing the tiny creature, Cetus grabbed the back of Pandora's shirt and hauled her up. When he saw her leg, the shark-man cursed foully. A few parents glared at him while they covered their children's ears. "By the hells Pandora. Couldn't you have kept it in one piece? Or did you want to see me again that badly?" He scolded lightly, grinning roguishly at the end. Cetus pressed his lips against her wet cheek. "Sit back and let me see the damage, please. I need to see if I can do a patch job or if we need to head to my workshop."

The shark-man waited for Pandora to present the leg to him. Kneeling, he began probing the leg. It was fritzing out already. The illusion was going in and out. His poor creation. "You poor baby. What did she do to you?" He muttered under his breath. There was clear wear and tear on the limb. She'd been liberally using it. Cetus brought up a magic diagnostic program. The results weren't good. In fact, they were discouraging enough he couldn't help scowling at Pandora. "You couldn't resist trying to break it in, could you? I asked you to take it easy. This is a prototype. The first of its kind and you've banged it all up to hell before dumping water on it. Microfractures, one entire lacrima strand pulled out of alignment, the illusion malfunctioning, the lacrima string I installed probably is down, not to mention a few dozen other issues brought on by water in the works." Cetus pinched the bridge of his nose. This would take an extensive rework. It would be surprising if it would even function with this damage.

"Try standing up for me, Pandora. I need to see if the damage is better or worse than I feared." Cetus stood, turning the illusion off. That part at least was busted. The best they could do for it was leaving it off. It left Pandora's leg looking like a metal collection of the muscles beneath the leg, a series of various colored lacrima running down the side. Glowing strands ran up through the metal. Several of those strands were dark. There was also clear wear, dings, scratches and the like on the metal. How she had managed to ding black mithril was beyond the assassin. Pandora had put his prototype through hell. Once Pandora was on her feet, Cetus maneuvered to catch her if she fell. As irritated as he was with her, the assassin didn't want to see her hurt. "I should spank you for all the damage you did." He growled softly. "I've gotta get your leg back to the shop and disconnect the nerve receptors to fix it. You're lucky you're cute, Pandora. I'd take my hammer to anyone else with this kind of disrespect for my creations. Maybe I will hammer you later." Cetus winked at the buxom warrior. Anything to embarrass her and see that adorable blush.

    Summer Festival

One could always tell when they weren’t being listen to or when they were not the primary interest. It didn’t take a whole lot of detection to sense when the words were falling on half-interested ears. This handsome man was listening to her partly but he was far more interested in what was still going on with the games. It didn’t keep her from speaking of course – she could practically see that the man was far more keen to watch the game but he was still absorbing some of the information that left her mouth.

He introduced himself as Caimileir briefly before he excused himself. He headed right to the game stand occupant and slipped him some jewel, apparently for the trouble that had been caused. Then he called out to the young man that had thrown quite the tantrum over the game. Kessicia mused quietly as she moved a few steps over to lean against a nearby post, now more curious about the man. She watched with quiet interest as Caimileir tossed the rings one after the other, each one with more showmanship than the last, onto the golden bottle. The crowd directly around the area cheered and clapped at the show, while the agitated man only got angrier. He accused the showman of using magic, he insisted he hadn’t and in the end, the angry man charged.

Now she wasn’t a police officer per se; she was more of a hunter than anything else. She imagined if things went badly, she could always restrain the man and bring him the a local Rune Knight for processing. Getting angry at a carnival game was hardly worth the punishment her guild usually dished out. But rather than having an opening, Caimileir did decide to invoke some of his magic after all. But he was right – if he had used it before, they would have known. Oddly enough, the handsome man began to sing – with a wonderful, harmonic voice of all things. As the words wrapped around the charger, he was lifted into the air, yanked upwards by the magic. She took a moment to get a reading on the magic but, as it was stronger than her own, she could only assume it was something gravitational. Soon bubbles filled the empty air around the man, empty vessels that began to fill with scenes from other places. It was beautiful but there was something about them too that seemed… dangerous. Portals perhaps? She smirked gently as Caimileir finished up his show by inviting the crowd to admire his visions from afar and left the man floating in the air.

She chuckled softly as her golden gaze flicked between the held man and Caimileir, who had returned to apologize for his brief and frank exit from the conversation. He offered the prize he had won from the toss to her, as recompense for his apparent rudeness and praise for her insight. “A song and a prize; how can a girl say no?” She asked him, her smirk widening a tad as she stepped past him. The game patron was more than eager to give Kessicia a prize, his eyes roaming over her like many have done before. She picked one of the larger stuffed animals, gave the man a slow and sultry wink with her thanks and then calmly walked over to a little girl who had been watching and offered her the gift. She was more than elated over it, grinning as bright as the sun itself.

With that all set, she walked back over to Caimileir as he properly introduced himself. She took his offered hand, giving it a soft shake. As he inquired after her reason for coming to the carnival, listing off a few options that were plucked from a general group, she chuckled. “Alas, I am attending full stag today. I’ve never been to a festival before and I was told it is quite the sight to see. So rather than wait for someone to ask me to it, I decided to take a little initiative and treat myself. But please, I’d love to know what brought you here. I can’t imagine someone like you is here all by yourself.” It was a pretty phrase but it didn’t hold much truth. Often very attractive men went to this kind of thing for the sole purpose of finding women without dates. Despite herself though, she was willing to give him a chance – he was handsome and he could sing after all.

His speech turned a bit bumbling after that, as if he had suddenly lost his charm and had fallen back into shyness. It was fairly noticeable but she didn’t comment on it, continuing to smile as he kindly asked if she’d help him go around the carnival. Single and ready to mingle, it seemed. But his words fell silent in distraction, his eyes flickering away as he noticed something that he either recognized or was interested in. Not unlike when she had first begun to speak to him. He managed to finish his thought but now she was truly more interested in what was past her. She turned to look… only to have a pixie suddenly come flying in at her. On instinct, her magic activated and her knife materialized in her hand as she prepared to lash out at the thing.

But Caimileir was quick to keep it from hitting her. She forced her arm to a dead stop, the knife still behind her kimono enough that many wouldn’t see it. She relaxed her muscles and let the magic fade, the weapon disappearing back into its pocket dimension home. The pixie flailed in front of them within the fleshy prison of the man’s hand, gesturing wildly back and away from them. Unfortunately she didn’t understand the sparkling being but she certainly understood when Caimileir called out to… Pandora? Her breath caught in her throat for a moment as the handsome man rocketed past her, her body turning with him to follow his path. Even with her head within the water, she would recognize those curves anywhere.

It was Pandora. Her lover, her love – the smile that tore itself across her face felt so strange and refreshing. Despite her life being in a much better, more pleasant place lately, there was nothing that compared to seeing that woman. She walked over as Caimileir hoisted her up out of the water, cursing loud enough to bother several patrons around them. But the country boy was beyond caring about their sensitivities. Then she got to watch a very odd turn of events. The handsome man scolded her for being near water, then remarked about her interest in seeing him again. Then he kissed her on the cheek, in quite an endearing manner. Had these two been lovers at some point? Some point recently.

My, my – her lover sure knew how to pick them. She could hardly blame Pandora for giving herself to the man. What honestly shocked her the most – and her face showed it, which would surely leave the redhead fearing the worst, was the extra limb. Pandora had lost her leg during the attack on her former guild yet her she was, with another one. But as the imagery began to react to the water, it revealed the prosthetic beneath. And based on how Caimileir was rambling off, it seemed he was the genius inventor behind it. A farm boy and an engineer. How very interesting.

She was quiet as the mechanic continued to chide the woman, though his words got more playful and flirty as he went along. Finally shaking off the shock of seeing her lover for the first time in a long time and the extra limb, Kessicia moved over to Pandora and stepped into her. Despite where she was, in Caimileir’s arms or not, the succubus would kiss her fully and passionately, uncaring about the rest of the world in that moment.

When she finally pulled away – and she lingered – she smiled. “My love,” she said simply, caressing her cheek. “I thought I was in a dream when I heard your name.” She turned to Caimileir, her smile still bright. “Six degrees of separation it seems. How likely is it that you knew Pandora and you met me here? Blessed be,” she praised aloud before she looked between the two of them. “I believe you said something about needing to take her leg back to the shop, correct? That may be better suited for privacy – I do so wish to know your shared story.”

Shark, Succubus and Summer Empty Re: Shark, Succubus and Summer

Post by Pandora Dagger 3rd November 2019, 1:28 pm

Even though she'd been plunging her head underwater, his voice still managed to break through its surface and penetrate her ears. And by the sound of it, he was most-likely moving over to her post-haste; a thought soon found to be true as she felt her shirt being janked back, and she hoisted out of the water basin. Safe to say the water that was hoisted out of the basin after her was no small amount either. It was both fortunate and unfortunate that she was wearing shorts for this occasion; fortunate only that she didn't have to walk around in soaked clothes. Less fortunate because it all came crashing down in her artificial leg. His vocabulary was most-uncalled for in the presence of children, and as he cursed a fair bit Pandora was already apologizing to the vendor of the apple bobbing cart. ”No that’s not what I-” she rambled in between her worries and trying to explain, and silenced just as easily as he kissed her cheek. To those doubting; yes, that was a blush the redhead was now sporting. Quite a mighty one. She moved her leg towards the man so he could assess the damage she’d wrought.

But her eyes were quickly on their way again as she noticed Kessicia too had gotten closer. And like her rambling earlier, so was her heart going a mile a minute at this very point, for none other than the Dessiertan beauty before her. Yet when that sparkle in her lover’s eyes faded and an expression of shock took hold of her face, did Pandora’s heart skip several beats. Dread clutched around her heart at the sight, and every possible thought that was even remotely negative flooded her mind. Her own skin paled to an almost sickly white color together with the fear and shame her thoughts endowed upon her. Although not much time had passed, for Pandora that time alone had already been an eternity. The shame became visible on the redhead’s face, and it swiftly changed to become a pained expression before she averted her eyes and stared at the ground. So sunken in her own pitiful thoughts she had been that she’d barely heard a quarter of what Cetus had been telling her, both flirts and scolding having fallen to deaf man’s ears.

And on top of all that, now she was looking down upon the illusionless prosthetic, did she feel even more ashamed. Not only had she -in her eyes- hurt her beloved, she had also brought ruin upon Caimileir’s masterful creation, all in less than a minute, no less! To her, she’d disappointed two people she held dearly, and there was only one red-head to blame for it. Honestly, she could just cry right now. Caimileir asked her to stand up so he could see the actual extent of the damage, and Pandora, too fearful to look into Kessicia’s direction, stood up like a mindless creature, her eyes still pinned on the ground. "I'm sorry…" Pandora apologised softly. She didn't put much weight on the leg at first, and once on both her feet slowly started to add more weight unto it. It seemed to hold, although she could hear several of the gears make a rather worrying sound as they started moving. There was this thing though… she couldn't feel anything being attached to the stump that once was her leg. "Uh, Caimileir, I can't feel anyt-" she started in a hustled voice, only to feel her knee buckle, throwing her entire body off balance. The cyan-haired man caught her quickly, as if he had been expecting her to topple over for a facial slam-dunk. Then again, seeing how badly the prosthetic leg was doing, that wasn't so hard a thought to take into account. Frankly, she was relieved he still caught her mentally distressed self.

His growled 'threat', and the explanation that he needed to get her out of here and into his workshop to check on the nerve receptors and what not was one thing. And the teasing that followed suit another. Had she been her regular self she would've replied in kind, or at the very least with a bit of sass, but this time around, she could only chuckle softly. And even that wasn't a true one. Her eye had never shared the smile. Her thoughts were still going overdrive on Kessicia's shocked reaction. It might not be fair to think of someone while still in the arms of another, but it was what it was. Guilt was a strong tool to mess with the red-head's mind. Slowly she was pulling herself back up from her hanging position within Cetus' arms, and she wondered. Was Kessicia still watching? Had she turned around and left? Or was she judging her at this very moment? The warrioress had to know what had become of her loved one… if she wasn't to be forgiven then she would make peace with that, but at the very least she wanted to explain the situation. What her heart truly desired however was to hold her and tell her how much she loved the woman. And as a matter of fact, so did she.

Pandora had barely willed herself to look up in search for eye-contact when Kessicia moved into her, fully, and most importantly, passionately. The purple-haired beauty's lips on hers before she could recover from her surprise, but her body moved accordingly without her having to waste another thought on it. Pandora kissed her back with such fiery passion that it melted every worry clutching around her heart like ice before the sun, her arms slid away from Cetus' to wrap themselves around her lover's slender waist. She pulled her closer to such an extent that she had to use Cetus' chest as support to keep herself upright. But she knew that even if she'd fall, she'd never let go of her again. When she pulled away, the smile on the red-head's face was apparent. Her eyes were shining equally bright, every hint of sadness gone from their crimson pupils. And she listened carefully as Kessicia addressed Caimileir. Although that look her lover gave the two of them showed that hint of knowing what might have been going on. She could've been wrong, but she doubted it. "That might be for the best, even if my leg were to be, uh, less broken than it is now… I'm really sorry for that, Caimileir." she faced the man fully this time, showing a great portion of regret. "Also… I'm gonna have to be a pain again, but I can't feel anything in my leg anymore... I doubt I'll be able to walk or even move around with it as it is now." Pandora mentioned with a rather troubled look.

Shark, Succubus and Summer Empty Re: Shark, Succubus and Summer

Post by Cetus 10th November 2019, 12:19 pm

Cetus doffed an invisible hat and offered Kessica a bow. "I work ever to enrich the environment around you, my lady." Watching what the woman did with his offer was enlightening. She offered the gift to a younger female rather than keeping it for herself. An act of selflessness. Cetus had seen it but only rarely. It was a treat to see it in action here. Kessica's return and her question threw Cetus off. Stag? Was that a secret code word? Perhaps she was a spy trying to feel out his allegiance. Treating herself? People actually did that? Odd. He knew people weren't as job oriented as he usually was. His reason for being here could be seen as treating himself as well. But then why would Kessica do it? Did she suffer from the same malady that afflicted him? Then there was the last thing she said. It seemed to him like there was a hidden meaning to it all. What that might possibly be was a mystery to him. Cetus decided not to probe about that particular comment either. He wasn't handsome, in his opinion. Getting into yet another argument over it was a waste of time.

None of Cetus' speculations showed on his face. Instead, he favored Kessica with a smile. "I'd never been to a festival before either and wanted to explore it. Unfortunately, it seems the sun is hotter than I thought. My skin has been rapidly drying out all day." That might come across as slightly odd for a farm boy. Cetus figured it wasn't too much of an issue. He'd never specified what he did in the country.

Pandora's lack of confidence had the assassin worried. The last time they'd met, she'd been full of life. It was that exact reason that had drawn him to the woman. Her murmured apology forced Cetus to stop his examination of the leg. He looked up into her face. Something had happened. Some piece he was missing. Perhaps it was his presence. Cetus felt immeasurably stupid. Pandora had gotten what she wanted out of him. Her deformity was gone. They'd spent a night together. It had been nothing more or less than that. It felt like something had snapped inside the assassin. His heart hurt, though he couldn't figure out why. He wasn't injured. All that had happened was a realization that Pandora didn't want him.

That fact was driven home in the hardest way. Kessicia stepped into Pandora's arms. Cetus lost control of his expressions. Full shock registered across his face. The two women kissed passionately. Pandora kept a hand on his chest. It was a clear sign. She didn't want him interrupting nor did she want him around. The pain in his chest twisted. An agony unlike he'd ever experienced blossomed around his heart. His facial features twisted in response to the pain. How did people live with emotions like this? It was torture watching the two embrace. What hurt more was Pandora had never mentioned the woman and it looked like they'd been lovers for quite some time.

Kessicia's words confirmed Cetus' suspicions. There were pinpricks in his eyes. Damn these emotions. The two women turned to him before he could school his facial features back to normal. They'd probably seen the hurt. Cetus took a deep shuddering breath. It took a second to force his lips into a smile. "That's all right. If you can't feel anything, I can simply remove the leg. You two sound like you have some catching up to do and I don't want to interrupt your reunion. Besides, there is no story. We're acquaintances at best. A business owner and his customer. Nothing more." He looked around for somewhere Pandora could sit. She would need to be sitting in order for the leg to come off.

There was a nearby restaurant. Cetus gestured to it. "There. If you could just sit her down there, I can take the leg. The two of you can enjoy a nice date while I go fix the leg." By the Hells, the bright cheery note in his voice sounded false even to the assassin. Any chance he'd had of acting fine was out the window. It didn't matter. Kessicia had only recently met him. Not enough time for her to care. Who cared about a stranger? Pandora had already gotten what she'd wanted out of him. Cetus had to wonder if the two women were running a con on him. He couldn't say he cared much. Money was only a means to an end. They could have asked for a sum and he would have given it to them. They hadn't needed to play with his emotions. If they were running a con. Ugh, his head was so messed up. Damn these emotions. Damn them.
