Orokana slowly walked into the town he didnt know anything about. All he knew was that people didnt use magic very much here, and that a strange note told him to come here. It was weird since Orokana himself he thought didnt make any friends or enemies yet. But he shrugged it off as the skeleton man slowly walked down the streets at the dead of night. His red mask, as always, hiding himself to prying eyes of people that didnt need to know his undead nature. It made his time wandering place to place much more easy to do. He walked down the streets trying to find a bar note told him about. He sighed as he found himself at a much more... scummy part of the town then how he entered the place. Many people staring at his mask and his purple cloak as the seven foot four inch lich slowly walked past them all not paying any attention to anyone until he found himself at the golden place he wanted to be. A bar named Broken Cups. He rubbed his head as he slowly walked inside as no one was in the bar, but one bartender cleaning a glass, they always clean one glass he thought as he slowly walked past the bartender and gave him a wave as he sat down in a booth by himself in the far corner. He thought he was late but it appears he was just on time since his penpal wasnt here yet. The lich slowly put a hand into his cloak and pulled out a old looking tome. Gently setting in on the table as he started to read it as he await for someone to come and greet him.

Meititrice took a look at the tablet, then scrolled on to the next matter of importance. With a heavy sigh his eyes would glace back and forth between the monitors, the one on his left showing active members and their status, the one on his right giving financial details for the guild, the dozen or so other monitors within the room showing all manor of other important information. The assassin would lean back, pushing his directors chair to the limits. There were not many people within the room currently, one of the private rooms within Hidden Blades, the offices of the Intelligence Department was generally an organized mess of chaotic action. Finally, the assassin would stand seconds before the alarm would go off.

It was time to see what this newbie was worth.

Getting to the determined meeting point was not difficult, in fact, the location was chosen because of the ease at which Meititrice, and his companions, could arrive. Everything had been planned meticulously, down to the letter. Every scrap of information, and every piece of data gathered to do one thing. Show off. Show the man Meititrice was to meet what exactly Hidden Blades was, how far they could reach, and what it meant to cross them. Then… of course… they would offer the ‘man’ a job.

With a sign the assassin arrives early, having knocked out the bartender and used his ring to fully hide who he was, his scent, and his magical aura. To any onlooker the man would be a normal, pot bellied human, currently scrubbing viciously at a cup. Meititrice would watch as the man he was waiting for entered, and give him a wave as he passed. Heading to the far end of the room. No one would question that a wave to a patron was anything more than a simple gestor.

Walking forward, the bartender would have a menu in hand, he would set it down infront of the masked man, completely ignoring and comments but shaking slightly, as if scared. As he walked away, into the back room. The operation would start…

If the man were to look at the menu, he would see something obvious, under the unassuming looking item would be a single leather-bound tome, upon its cover would be an ancient circle, one any necromancer would recognize. If he were to look into the pages, he would find two things.

First, a bone. A knuckle bone, with an inbuilt magic. Necromantic magic, that only attaches to the bones which were used to summon a lich, bones which were tainted by a dark magic. This particular bone would have taken Meititrice much time to find, but it was one of the remnants from the night the man became something… more.

Second, a single paragraph of text, simple, but written in a sprawling script.
“We know who, and what you are.
If you wish to learn exactly how much we know, then leave the bar, and head to the alley.
This book will write itself as your complete our tasks.”

The remainder of the book would be blank.

Orokana looked at the mans hands as he handed him the menu and saw how it was shaking. which he thought as odd but said nothing about it. He picked up the menu only to see the man also hid a tome under it. One he was read a long time ago, and a knuckle bone. An odd set of items but he felt like this was meant for him, that who ever wanted to get his attention didnt want to talk yet, play some games he thought. He opened the tome to peer inside at the first paragraph and read it slowly. He grabbed the bone and looked at the door. Rubbing his head as he hid the bone in his pocket and walked out of the bar and into the ally the tome would have spoken of. Orokanas mind quickly filled with many ideas about what is happening. Nothing with ill intent, at least not yet. If this was something about someone wanted to kill him because of what he was, they wouldnt have played this game, the bastards would have charged him. Orokana looked at the tome and went to see if it would instructed him or if someone else would. His gloves reaching up to his mask and tapping it slowly. He normally takes the mask off when he does his work. So they can see what kills them is their future. He couldnt help but thing who these people were, and how did they know him, the knuckle bone was no random thing, if anyone with even an idea about necromancy could see it was one from a lich. Which is a random thing to add to the items he was giving, but it made more sense when they said they knew what he was, but he doubted they knew who he was. Maybe his name but not his meaning or drives. He let out a small chuckle and hopped he would enjoy this night, and to see if he was going to enjoy this person playing with him.

Meititrice watched from darkness as the man stood, and went to the requested position. That was good. This person was curious, perhaps cautious, but curios. Both were good traits if they were going to join Hidden Blades. After all, an assassin’s organization needed a good deal of both. That being said, there were many other things to be tested this night and so far, the man had only passed the first test.

The assassin would press a button on his watch, then speak a quick spell. An activation word for the device which controlled the book. The tome would vibrate with magic, as a new script would appear, as if being written letter by letter.

    “Good. You are curious.
    Ground rules:

    • No Killing
    • Do not get caught
    • Do not lose the book
    • Complete a task, get rewarded with information.
    • Fail a task, Fail the Exam.
    • Finish All Task, learn my name, and who I represent.”

A couple seconds after the rules write themselves out, the book would turn hot as the next few pages of the tome would write themselves out, spelling out a dark magic, and a wicked spell. One which, Meititrice hoped, would be of interest to the Lich. The information was hard to get after all, though anyone looking at the spell would be able to know it was incomplete.

The Assassin had selected the rules specifically for this candidate. He had no doubt he could kill, and was willing to get dirty. However, the Intelligence Director needed to verify if the Lich could ‘not’ kill, and follow orders. No matter how vague.

Once the spell was finished writing itself out, the sprawling script would once more appear.

    “Johnathan Nate Williamson.
Find Him, take him to the docks.
    Wait for further instruction.”

Post by Orokana Yuhi 10th July 2019, 5:15 pm

The lich sighed as he read more and rubbed the back of his head. He wasnt allowed to kill, and he wasnt allowed to get caught, but that wasnt new to him. If he was caught he would probably be in a very bad position since being undead wasnt a very good thing to be to peasants and townsfolk. The lich looked around himself for a couple moments to see if there was anything else but he was left with everything already. He cursed under his breath as he needed to find a man and take him to the docks. Thankfully for Orokana the night was long and the streets were slowly dying down. For now at least. He walked forward and out of the alley as he needed more information, namely here he could find said Johnathan. He sighed more as he walked down thinking if he was looking for a man does he know he is being hunted? if he was in the area or lived here? There was no information to give Orokana his next move so he had to plan out everything from the start. He walked to book store that was still open. Run down and it looked like no one ever came here. He slowly opened the door and looked at the man reading a book. His time alive taught him places like this normally sold information since he would have came here all the time. He walked up to the man as his mask would intimidate him slightly. "Can I h-help you?" The man at the counter asked, he was bald and wore glasses but wasnt very notable after those facts. "Im looking for a man named Johnathan Nate Williamson, I know he is in this town." The lich just stood unnaturally still and watched the man as he shook, feeling something off about Orokana no doubt. The man nodded and slowly leaned forward and whispered "Johnathan is hiding at a very fancy inn in town. guarded but a couple of men, he seems scared but of what I am not sure." Orokana nodded and handed the man a sheet. The mans eyes light up and looked at Orokana as the man nodded. Orokana smirked as he left the little book store and looked down the streets. Orokana started to walk to the start of town, the nice part of town where the rich played and wasted money away. His purple cloak being pushed behind him from the wind as he thought of a plan, he wasnt allowed to kill meaning at all he assumed, and not being caught, probably meaning he wasnt allowed to be noticed, he could make people pass out if he needed to but he should avoid that all together. His necromancy wasnt the best for this job since it would be messy and loud. And would sound some alarms in the area if a couple of skeletons ran around wildly. He couldnt let them be used as a distraction so he did the next best thing. He can summon his skeletons a away from him a bit and which meant the fire escape was his friend. Soon he found the fancy inn and walked to its back, no guards around, only some the man would have hired Orokana thought. He looked up and raised his hand as a skeleton was formed from nothing but dark magic. It looked down at Orokana and started to lower the ladder for him to use. As he waited he would remove his gloves and his mask as he slowly made his way up the latter. His skeletal nature exposed to the night sky and his glowing red soulless eyes looking at the stairs as he made his way up. He assumed if the man was scared of someone getting to him he would be at the top floor, probably near the fire escape so if he needed to he would run. A smart idea probably but only if he was attacked one way. Orokana slowly made his way to the top of the ladder and looked inside to see the man sleeping, the lights off and no one else in the room. Childs play. He summoned a skeleton in the room to slowly open the window and let him inside. Orokana needed to carry the man but he needed to stay silent. So Orokana would summon another undead, his warrior skeleton and had it hit the mans head hard, to knock him out. The skeleton started to gag him and he slowly gestured for his two skeletons to carry the man and follow him. Orokana leading them around alleys and streets, hidden in the darkness of the night he slowly made his way to the docks. The men that were protecting John probably havent even noticed yet. But now Orokana waited to see what would happen now, taking the tome he was given and looking at the pages.

Meititrice continued to watch from his hidden vantage point, making certain that the ring kept his magic concealed, and his abilities kept him hidden. It was interesting, watching the Lich work. He certainly had an analytical mind, and looked at multiple angles. He was not direct in his approach, at least, not as much as other members of the guild would have been, and was certain to get in and out unnoticed. It was interesting, to watch the man work, and get hints of his magic.

The director could certainly see use for him within their organization, and he had passed two of the three tests. He had proven himself to be curious, and resourceful. He followed tasks, and did not ask useless questions or waste time. At least… not yet.

With a sign, Meititrice sent the last message to the book.

“This man has crossed one of our benefactors.
Remind him the error of his ways, and find the location of what he stole.”

The book would once more write itself out, filling more of the spell that it hid. The smell was old, but powerful, and meant to invoke fear. As the second part filled out, more and more of its hidden messages would be reviled.

“After you are done, retrieve the items and meet back here.”

The book would finish in its automatic script and write out the message once more growing cold to the touch. The truth was, Meititrice had already found the items in question and hidden them away. What the Lich would find would be a empty but sealed box. It was important for the Director to learn whether or not the man would open the box, and how he went about his interrogation.

That would show him what the Lich was made of, and allow Meititrice to make his final judgement, and score his test.

Orokana looked at the book and sighed deeply. He then looked at the man that was still passed out. He rubbed his face and thought for a moment. He threw some water at the man from a nearby puddle. The man woke up and looked at him, looking at Orokana he was very scared, seeing a tall skeleton with glowing red eyes and with a throbbing headache. Orokana slowly got uncomfortably close to the man. "So Johnny boy, I hear you have something that doesnt belong to you. So here is how we are going to do this, you will tell me where you have hidden what you stole, and I wont have my adorable children rip your skin and flesh off of your bones. Which I should do anyways since you crossed someone that you know you shouldnt have crossed. But lucky for you im not allowed to kill you unless you dont give me the location." Orokanas voice was hallow and he just stared at the man, his skeletons that where holding the man chuckled by rattling their bones. The man started to shake as he looked around slowly. Orokana could tell the man was a coward and would more then likely tell Orokana everything he wanted to know. The man shook his head no slowly and Orokana chuckled as he grasped the mans neck and held it tightly. "Now dont make a mistake, dont you want to live? Unless... you really do want to die and become one of my minions?" The man shook his head and started to stutter "T-they are in a storage locker down the way, in one of the buildings. 205 was the number..." Orokana just stared at the man then waved his hand was his skeletons started to drag the man with Orokana, walking down the way as Orokana said "Show me." About 5 minuets of walking they got to a building and Orokana walked inside, the man struggling now and again trying to break free from the skeletons. Orokana found the storgae locker and had a skeleton knight rip open the door. Orokana walking inside to see a suitcase in it and nothing else. Orokana showed it to the man. "Is this it?" The man nodded and looked at Orokana with pleading eyes. "P-Please let me go..." Orokana chuckled and started to drag the man back outside. He looked down at the suitcase. He didnt know if he should open it yet. The instructions where unclear of what he stole and if he was allowed to look or not. He looked at the man and raised his hands as the skeletons started to beat the man. Orokana saying just loud enough to hear him "Remember, the next time I find you crossing them I will kill you, but for now losing some blood should be more then enough to remind you." Orokana started to laugh a bit as he walked back to the spot he was earlier and looked around. Orokana opened the book he was given and looked at the spell. Rubbing his chin slowly.
