    Name: Joyeuse
    Rank: Weak
    Type: Sword
Description: Joyeuse is the name traditionally attributed to Charlemagne's personal sword, which is also know as the Sword of Coronations of Kings. The name translates as "joyous". Some legends claim Joyeuse was forged to contain the Lance of Longinus within its pommel; others say the blade was smithed from the same materials as Roland's Durendal and Ogier's Curtana.

The ancient Song of Roland describes the sword:

[Charlemagne] was wearing his fine white coat of mail and his helmet with gold-studded stones; by his side hung Joyeuse, and never was there a sword to match it; its colour changed thirty times a day.

Some seven hundred years later, Bulfinch's Mythology described Charlemagne using Joyeuse to behead the Saracen commander Corsuble as well as to knight his comrade Ogier the Dane. Joyeuse was allegedly lost in a battle and retrieved by one of the knights of Charlemagne; to thank him, Charlemagne granted him an appanage named Joyeuse. Baligant, a general of the Saracens in The Song of Roland, named his sword Précieuse, in order not to seem inferior to Charlemagne.

Kitalpha retrieved this sword from a fallen officer during one of her missions and kept it well hidden until she learnt how to use the King's Treasury. Afterwards, although not a mythical weapon in fact, Kitalpha deemed it worthy enough to be added to the Treasury, if only to keep it less bloody and more joyous.

    Strengths:

    • Belongs to Kitalpha’s treasury and as such will always return when she recalls them to their realm.

    Weaknesses:

    • Any weapon belonging to Kitalpha’s treasury can be used by whomever once they are summoned, including enemies.
    • Cannot permanently gift this weapon to someone else as long as she owns it, as it cannot go any further than 300 meters from Kitalpha.

    Abilities: N/A
